I try with Phantom 1.0.8 Performance kernel and succesfully rooted this ROM
1. Download this .FTF
2. Open Flashtool ( 0.9.11.0 - latest version ). Flash .ftf via Flashtool till finish
Don't forget to safe kernel.sin ( stock JB Sony kernel )
3. Switch On and do some configuration ( Setup Wizard )
4. Flash kernel via Fastboot ( select phantom performance kernel.elf as source )
5. Reboot phone
6. Do root phone by click on Unlocked Icon at Flashtool
7. Now flashtool will send restore configuration to phone, just follow the instruction from Flashtool
8. After flashtool reboot your phone, go to Superuser, and do update su binary
9. Flash kernel via Fastboot ( select Stock JB kernel.sin as source )
10. Tada...... I have 6.2.A.1.100 JB from Sony with rooted status
Ask : Why I change back kernel to JB Stock ?
Answer : With phantom kernel, PC Companion still ask me to upgrade 6.2.A.1.100. So, change back to stock JB kernel
Now I will clean some app that I didn't need for my daily use.

I can't say it is better because you have to try it and and give report but my rom is NOT a stock ROM it is totally based on CM7 ROM by FXP team: they've build their own sources (lib files; camera; network; optimisation;...) so it is tottaly different to a stock ROM because it is not the same base!!!
Here is just a little part of their work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16379792&postcount=2
secondly I'll optimise this ROM again and again I think it is already SUPERFAST
so I suggest you to try it I'm sure you'll enjoy it

i have tried there cm7.1 rom too but its very buggy and many things don't work,
fm radio, hdmi, camera, no flash, but when that's fixed it will be very good rom i think...

The installation of this kernel won't make you lose any data
> You can also use the kernel in the firmware .145 (and only in this firmware) using the boot.img. However, it is less stable than having the latest firmware. I suggest you first set up.
1] Preparing Files
- Unzip the previously downloaded fastboot-USBdrivers.zip
- You will now have a folder fastboot-USBdrivers.
- Now move the file boot.img (see prerequisites) to the root of your hard drive
2] Connect the equipment
- Connect your Xperia neo fastboot mode:
Turn-on
While holding down the Menu button, connect the camera to your computer. The LED turns blue
- Now install the driver (if you do not SDKs) by following this tutorial using the file-fastboot USBdrivers I propose above.
3] Flashing the kernel
- Open the fastboot-USBdrivers then hold the SHIFT key (shift) key, right click on the folder and select fastboot "open a command prompt here".
Users of Windows XP or Vista, for which the "open a command prompt here" may not s'affichier, please follow this tutorial to display the option or install the SDK normally then enter the command
- If prompted, enter this command and hit enter:
Code:
fastboot flash boot C: \ boot.img
then reboot and voila
I have 2.3.4. firmware Neo tweaked v0.4, I flashed doomkernel v 0.9, and in recovery set to instal your rom but after successful installation and boot screen "Dommkernel" is bootloop. So Im not doing it in wright way or what.

1. FLASHTOOL
Requirements
1. Flashtool
Official Site http://androxyde.github.com/index.html?1352015649000
4Shared http://www.4shared.com/zip/JeZM_nDa/flashtool-0980-windows.html
After downloading and unzipping..please install in C:/ Drive
2. Custom Kernel
Get one from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316394
Procedure
I. Copy Kernel file to C:/ > Flashtool > Firmwares >
II. Install drivers(Fastboot) Goto C:/ > Flashtool >drivers and click on Flashtool-drivers.exe
III.Open Flashtool C:/ > Flashtool and right click on FlashTool.exe(32 bit) or FlashTool64.exe(64 bit) and "run as administrator"
IV. In your phone..
Select MSC mode..Goto Xperia>Connectivity>USB connection mode

[B]fastboot flash boot boot.img [/B]
V. It'll say waiting for device..Now switch off your phone..after a few seconds..hold MENU button and connect USB..(while holding that button)
VI. Done. Check for any errors..if no errors are shown. Boot it up!! :good:
FAQs
1. The kernel I've downloaded has a 'name.img' and not boot.img??
A. While typing the code...in the end type name.img..in place of boot.img
Eg. 1.Lupus Kernel (File name says LuPuS_haida_v3-jB.img)...so the code should be..(Note that I haven't used capitals..)
fastboot flash boot lupus_haida_v3-jb.img
2. Alliance Kernel (boot_ics_v1_5.img)..and so the code
fastboot flash boot boot_ics_v1_5.img
3.Kernel Flasher

1. How much can I overclock??
A. Depends on the custom kernel.
2. Is it safe to overclock??
A. Maybe. You can go upto 1.4Ghz but anything above that for long periods would kill the processor.
3. Is overclocking useful??
A. Yea. It does increase performance.
Get the right combo of Clockspeed, Governor and I/O Scheduler and your phone will fly
4. I flashed a kernel...now wifi doesnt work??
A. Flash the wifi modules for that kernel.

Hello !
I have a small problem that I can't find the answer to, more precisely I'm using MIUIv4 3.2.22 ROM and I want to flash another kernel. Using fastboot, I get the message that I don't have root permissions.
Is there a way to overcome this issue ?

Have you unlocked your bootloader?
Yes, Unlocked BL.
I tried with 3 or 4 kernels (compatible with the ROM I have on the device).
The message I get is that I don't have root permissions. (something like that).

How do I update / replace root binary on MIUI ?
Open superuser app..nd update binary...sorry for the fancy word 'root binary'
Well, I understood that, don't worry
The small problem is that on MIUI I can't find a way to do that. The app managing root access is called Permission Manager (v. 3.3.1076).
Can this be fixed ? If not, what ROM would you recommend for Xperia Neo V ?
Sorry man.. Donno...never tried MiUi..

i have a neo l android v4.0.4 which is rooted..unlocked the bootloader..i flashed the lupus custom kernel..n nw it has struck on d lupus symbol wht m i suppoz to do...do i need to flash rom with the kernel..???...it ws on stock kernel mt25i..
Hello everybody
I'll try to explain my problem with my bad english :
When I bought my xperia mini pro, I immediately unlocked it, rooted it and installed cyanogenmod 9. After many month of utilisation, I began changing ROM to test others. I obviously saved my system with rom manager to reinstall cyanogenmod if I had problems with the ROMs I tested. As no ROMs convinced me, I returned to cyanogen but it was quite bugging (maybe I didn't do well when flashing kernel and wiping).
My problem is: Yesterday I found Hasa MIUI 3.1.25 and it said that it need stock kernel to run. But I tried with the cyanogenmod kernel and I didn't want to start. So i found the ftf of ICS 4.1.B.0.587, I connected my phone in fastmode and used flashtool to flash the ftf. After that i thought i could install Hasa MIUI's ROM but what I didn't know, is that flashing a stock kernel will be considerated as doing an OTA ! So know MY PHONE HAS LOST HIS ROOT. I tried to reroot it with DooMLoRD"s tool and one other's sony tool (Wit a big button ROOT I don't remember the name) but when I run rom manager it's still says that my phone has to be rooted and that he can't access some files like system/su ...
So my question is : I lost my root after an OTA, how do I recorver it please ?
Thanks so much for those who'll answer me !
try e-root program , or unlock-root
or try the manual method & root a lower kernel
Or u could just flash a custom kernel like lupus etc, that would make it rooted (to my knowledge)

Hmmm...are you kidding me????
since he already unlock his phone bootloader, there no need to go into this step just to root and install CWM on his phone....just flash any custom kernel that has stock base and you don't have to do this long step again....
all custom kernel with stock compatible is RIGHT HERE.....

Do the following:
1.Download the Gingerbread rom(STOCK which is available for download on internet as SK17i_4.0.2.A.0.42_Generic_Trade_United_Kingdom_(1248-7407)).I hope you have seen the version I mentioned clearly. You should download only 4.0.2.A.0.42 and not 4.0.2.A.0.62(which is also availabe as STOCK,but not rootable directly)
2.Then download the STOCK ICS Rom(4.1.B.0.587).iF You have it already downloaded to your PC its better.
3.Now flash the Gingerbread rom (4.0.2.A.0.42).Enable USB Debugging,USB MasS Storage Mode and Allow installation from unknown sources.
4.Connect your device to the PC through USB.Then open the flashtool and click the root button.ROOT should now be available.

What is FOTA kernel recovery?
NOTE: this is old info
Xperia doesn't have recovery partition for user,
but we have FOTA kernel partition for OTA.
Since we have to unlock bootloader and OTA won't work on unlocked,
we can re-use useless FOTA kernel as recovery partition using Dees-Troy's "extract_elf_ramdisk".
With FOTA kernel recovery, you can update your recovery without updating kernel. You can flash images to FOTA kernel by fastboot command like
Code:
fastboot flash recovery fotakernel.img
To enter into FOTA recovery, press power key when LED is on.
How to restore DRM functions?
When you unlock bootloader you will lose X-Reality, noise reduction and so on,
but you can restore them!
Original thread is here, but I updated steps for Z3 and Z3 Compact.
1. Download zip from original thread
* Choose KitKat version (for 4.4) or Lollipop version (for 5.0)
2. Place zip in internal or external storage of your device
3. Reboot into recovery and do Factory Reset
4. Reboot into flashmode and flash FTF with Flashtool
Any FTF is OK, but of cource use FTF for same version you are using now.
Wipe: Check APPSLOG and CACHE
Exclude: Don't check
5. Close Flashtool, unplug and plug your phone and reopen Flashtool, then relock bootloader
Click BLU icon to show relock button and click it.
6. Flash FTF (same as 4.)
7. Close Flashtool, unplug and plug your phone and reopen Flashtool, then unlock bootloader
Click BLU icon to show unlock button and click it.
8. Reboot into fastboot mode and flash my kernel
9. Reboot into recovery and install DRM Restore zip
10. Reboot
11. Done!
After doing this, do not restore old data since it will revert DRM restore.
You can restore system with recovery and use Titanium Backup or something to restore app data.
Note: When you flash new ROM (not kernel), you must flash DRM Restore zip.
If you get "net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED" when connecting xda,
please disable PrototypeProtection with Titanium Backup or something similar.

It doesn't work, it goes into bootloop, i couldn't even boot into cwm afterwards
i had the to reflash CWM thrugh fastboot and then i could boot my device.

and tried to flash the kernel again, same bootloop again. so i'll wait to there is a stable one

Indeed, I believed it is corrupted copy… for me .105, I highly recommend using this kernel, truly awesome! the graphic really works very well now, the battery perform very fine as well, I liked the new version of the cwm too! I think a lot of benefits will provide this to your z3c device, many thanks @AndroPlus you rock men! Cheers
flashed on my z3c with .105. no bootloops, haven't come across any other issues yet. I will say that my battery life seems to be lasting a bit longer. i'll keep an eye on it for the next couple of days and report back! I still haven't played with any kernel settings. thank you for porting this over!! if you have any suggestions for the kernel settings let us know!
it is working now, you guys were correct, it was a corrupt download. I could see the first file downloaded was 8mb the next one was 18mb
thank you xda members, appreciated
Thanksss

Could you please post the MD5 hash in the OP or upload the files to a site that shows the MD5 so we can confirm the file, because flashing a corrupted kernel could harm our devices.:good:

Yes please. Or a zip file will do because Winzip or 7zip usually shows error while extracting.

OP says sound control driver isn't working. Use undervolt at your own risk. If it rebooted, try a lower value like -5 mv
Btw how do I get into Philz recovery? Up is for CWM, down is for TWRP. found it... camera button : )

You can create stock kernel flashe zip by extracting jernel.sin from ftf, then rename to boot.img and overwrite boot.img in the zip.

Oh I forgot to say you have to decrypt kernel.sin (not fotakernel) with Flashtool.
You can decrypt kernel.sin by "Tools" -> "Sin Editor" and select kernel.sin, then "Extract data".
Then you can flash kernel via fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash boot kernel.elf

hmm...I thought it can be done with fastboot, but it seems I'm wrong...
so you have to rename kernel.elf to boot.img and overwrite boot.img in zip, then install it.

Hope you're newbie here so will try to guide you step-by-step.
The easiest way is to download stock firmware for Flashtool.
For KitKat you can download 23.0.1.A.0.167 Firmware - this is the latest KitKat before Lollipop.
For SGP621 you can download it here: DOWNLOAD
Now Download FlashTool v0.9.18.6 - not newer e.g. 0.9.19.0 because they need some scripts and give errors. You can download it from HERE
Don't install PC Companion!
Let's start.
1. Download FlashTool from link above
2. Install
3. Go into C:\Flashtool\drivers and run Flashtool-drivers.exe
4. Select components - you only need Flashmode driver so select only flashmode driver and click install
5. Download FTF file and push it into C:\Users\Username\.flashtool\firmwares
6. Make sure your tablet is charged at least 50%!!!
7. Turn off tablet but DON'T CONNET TO PC
8. Run Flashtool (FlashTool if you have 32-bit OS, Flashtool64 if you have 64-bit)
9. Click LIGHTNING like on screen below:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
10. Select flash mode
11. You will see a list with firmwares like on screen below
12.Select firmware in left column and check the boxes: APPSLOG, CACHE, DATA (you see it on screen above in pt. 11)
13. Click FLASH. Don't connect your tablet to your PC.
14. Flashtool will prepare everything - it takes about 1 minute - it looks like on screen below:
15. When flashtool is ready you will se this window:
16. Connect your SGP621 in flashmode - hold VOL- and connect to PC - when the windows closes, you can release VOL- button, but DON'T DISCONNECT YOUR TABLET UNLESS FLASHTOOL WILL WRITE sth like this:
Flash complete. Plug off your device and reboot. That's all!
17. Reboot your Tablet and that's all
thank you so much God bless you <3

Are you sure about 23.0.1.A.0.167 Firmware being the latest KitKat before Lollipop? According to PTCRB there were three (3) KK versions at least certified:
23.0.1.A.3.12
23.0.1.A.4.30
23.0.1.A.0.167
I'm actually "hunting" for the latest KK firmware here: [SGP611] Last KK Firmware anyone?

I had to use version 0.9.25.0. Old 0.9.18.6 was throwing "Processing of loader.sin finished with errors". (Windows 10, x64)
Select Whipe APPS_LOG, B2B, USERDATA (as mentioned, else bootloop).
SGP621_23.0.1.A.0.167_CE successfully flashed.
(Took ~5 minutes. There is a longer break in flash process without any notification in flashtool. Just stay patient)
Rooting:
Had to use KingRoot, EasyRootTool and DoomLord_v4_root where freezing in process.
Backup-Ta worked as described, Servicemenu "Bootloader unlocked: yes"
Afterwards, do not use "Restore TA", it seems to lock you bootloader again, instead:
Flash Stock 23.5.A.1.291 same way
Download and extract ta_poc:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/poc-real-trim-instead-drm-fix-t3552893
Open your 23.5.A.1.291 tft/zip file (rename tft to zip) and extract kernel_S1-SW-LIVE-9C84-PID1-0006-MMC.sin.
Download twrp https://twrp.me/Devices/Sony/ (I used scorpion_windy on lte version, seems to work), name it recovery.img and place it in ta_poc folder
Run DOUBLECLICKME.bat, it will ask you for your kernel and TA backup files and it should automatically detect the twrp file.
When done, you will find a new_boot.img file. This is a combination of your stock boot image, together with your ta partition and twrp recovery.
Flash new_boot.img in fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash boot new_boot.img
Test if device boots to system
Download Magisk (I used 18.0)
Boot into twrp (push volume-up multiple times when Sony logo appears)
Flash Magisk zip
Boot and install Magisk Manager
Result (in my case):
Latest Stock version with twrp 3.0.2 and Magisk (root, root hiding,...)
All keys in service menu are [Key OK][Active].
(For me it shows "bootloader unlock allowed", as if bootloader is locked. But thats hard to believe since its booting with a patched bootloader.)
Ta Restore crashed
had to replace file find.exe in Backupt-TA-9.11\tools with my version from c:\windows\system32
Than it worked, all keys in service menu are [Key OK][Active]
But it seems this is relocking your bootloader. Service menu says again "Bootloader unlock allowed: yes" (don't know about it, I could restore TA on my XZ1c and bootloader stays onlocked)
Flashed 23.5.A.1.291 and afterwards this boot image https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-tablet-compact/development/kernel-t3472019 for twrp.
Magix 18.0 (through twrp) bootloops!
