Once you get an external SD card you should switch USB ports and see if that helps.

[Q] S-off backup failed

SOLUTION!: V0.2 was the culprit. Using v0.1 I had no issues whatsoever. Here's a link to a thread where Graymonkey44 provided the older version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25187343&postcount=762
1. All files in same location as adb/fastboot.
2. Unlocked and rooted
3. USB debugging on
4. SD card is brand new, formatted and mounted.
5. ControlBear was run as admin.
Am I missing something? I see I'm not the only one with this problem, but I haven't seen a solution yet.

Yep....worked first try with v.0.1 . I was still on GB but luckily i downloaded the file last night just incase something like this happened.
Here is the v.01 Gingerbread zip just incase someone else needs it.
i still cant get the wire trick to work.
I was having issues to begin with where it would keep saying do wire trick now, but I realized I didn't have enough wire stripped back. Once I stripped more back and it made contact I got it first try. Just tap it to ground, count a quick 1...2 and tap it again. Good luck.

Keep trying you just need to time the wire trick better. Keep the phone upside down and wait till the program say to do the wire trick. Some people say to keep the wire in the first hole and as soon as it prompts then push down the ground and count about 2 seconds and it should work. It's all about timing. Took me a few trys too.

("Q: Help I'm stuck at the green Juopunutbear screen?
A: No worries. I've heard in some cases this happens. You can either simply restart the exe and it will retry from that screen, or if you want to stop process and go back to your ROM, you will need to flash your ROMS boot.img and also flash recovery via fastboot. ")
I keep running the app but keep getting the error. =/
Try searching the dozens of other s-off issues threads first. It's covered in the s-off FAQ.
Not trying to avoid the question bro but there so many factors that we don't know what you have tried i.e. restart your computer/ uninstall HTC sync you just got to keep trouble shooting or ex plane yourself more.

Nice write up. Question, when you get s-off from unlimited.io do you still have an official hboot or is it a modified unlimited.io hboot?
unlimited.io hboot
but this is the first time i write a thread so hope hope no one has any problems
The reason I wondered if it was a modified hboot is because if you use the writesecreflag command to s-on with an "unofficial" hboot, it will brick the device. The safest thing to do in my opinion is to flash an official hboot after getting s-off just incase you don't remember this when you want s-on.
D_ Back to S-ON
1_Go to fastboot
2_Type fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
3_fastboot reboot-bootloader
^DONT
unless you wanna brick ur device..
its like this.. the hboot is still revolutionary, not stock.. if u use SON on it, the device will brick, and since you have soff, theres no way of reviving the device except for jtagging.
SON trick only works on stock bootloader.

Nice post.
Maybe in the B section could be info about using ADB and fastboot+the files.
And also exist another recovery then CWM (4-EXT touch...)
And also in B section should be in step 14 "same methods from 10->14" not from the 1. step
Also what I read, with the unlimited method the bootloader will be locked back after S-OFF

thanks for helping but in htcdev they explain how to use them and who will care about locked when someone has s-off?
and he/she can get it back if he goes to htcdev.com and do the same methods( correct when he click yes the phone will freeze when you unlock using the token but take out the battery and put it back you will notice it's unlocked)

How to s-off if you are running the latest update

NO. just run the .5 version.
The part that I was worried about was the prerequisites.
- Must be on a stock Gingerbread ROM OR The 3.14.605.5 ICS Leak <---- NO OTHER ICS LEAKS BUT THIS ONE!
- Must be HTCDev unlocked - I have done
- Must be rooted - I have done
So it is safe to use these instructions while on 4.03.605.2 710RD?

Did you get to the wire trick? If you did the wire thing, then the timing was off. I believe you can just start controlbear and try again. review the troubleshooting guide below. It has some notes about restoring your backups if you want.

Umm adb= Android Debug Bridge it's a way of using a windows or Linux command prompt to send commands to your phone. I'm not really the best for step by step instructions on setting it up but search around a little and I'm sure you can find a guide. Once you have adb working its just copy and paste commands. Besides it'll be good for you to learn a little about it. It can come in handy if your in a jam.
Edit: was just thinking about this more.... Didn't you have to unlock bootloader with HTC Dev? You should have adb setup already. It's just running the right commands.
