Best music player, no additional DSP engine required. - HTC Desire X

I have been looking for a good music player ever since I bought DX, but yesterday I found this one, belive me, I have tried all other players out there but not even a single one stand a chance against this one,.disable all 3rd party equalizer etc. before using it.,beats audio is fine, actually beats audio enhance the sound quality with this one.....

..

What's a good music playing app???

So since i've been home from college i had no reason to listen to my iPod...and since i left it in my truck while it was freezing cold...now it doesnt work...so now instead of buying a new i'll start using my phone...so what's a good music playing app that'll keep everything organized???
Depends what features you're looking for. If you just want something simple like an iPod the TWiz player is great, plus the notification drawer integration is nice. If you like Winamp and wanna stream music from your computer, then you'd probably like Winamp. The best in my opinion is the more advanced, feature packed PowerAMP. It is a paid app now, but you can try the full version free for a while.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk
if you have the vibrant.. the stock app is great by itself. Buuuuut If you want a great music app with an equalizer and everything else.. try Power Amp. Its an awesome app and it has a full screen widget.
thanks guys...i just "got" PowerAMP and it looks great...thanks for the suggestions

I actually really like Winamp on my Vibrant.
If you're looking for audio streaming from your pc to your vibrant; you can't beat Audio Galaxy. The best interface out there and it hasn't failed in both quality and ease of use.
Great product though! Also check out mixzing. That's a pretty cool app too...

+1 on Audiogalaxy. Ive been using it for a while now. As long as youre in an area with good coverage/wifi, youll always have all of your music on there. And for me, thats even more music than I can fit on my 120gb music.
But for music on your sd card, the previously mentioned PowerAmp is a great option, sleek UI plus an awesome equalizer.
Im running ginger clone anyone have the link so I can get the stock samsung vibrant music app the phone originally came with it was real nice

i personally use playerpro, loving it. lockscreen functionality too!
I'm big into music on my vibrant and I am using the MIUI music player (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=854766). Give it a look.
Mixzing is the best. Can organize by folder or how ever you want. Can even set it up to only show music in certain folders. So you don't have random sounds like you would in the stock music player. Plus has nice Widgets. And Album art. Very nice player! Also can play video files too. If you want!

If you liked how the iPod / iTunes did things you might enjoy DoubleTwist. Then again, you might just enjoy it anyway. Has an AirSync add-on available too. However, I'm currently using Player Pro. While it's not free, I haven't found it's equal in the many other players I've tried.
you need to try this i love it
{app} miui music player apk
here is the thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=854766
+1 for miui, great replacement for the stock player. Myself, my mp3s are nicely organized in folders, and not all of them tagged properly, so I ended up with a ton of "unknown" artist tracks. Found MortPlayer in the market, and it plays by folder, not tag. Saved me a ton of work.
Ginger Clone's of the World Unite! Via the XDA App
Im using Playerpro also. Great app. Not only does it have lockscreen functionality but while locked the volume buttons can be used to change tracks and control volume. Love it

I'll second MixZing. It's awesome.

poweramp no doubt. it's tried and true. also, the audio-tweaking options are unmatched.
for player pro, you have to install a dsp package...i don't know about you, but the less i have to install, the better. poweramp is the all inclusive package that makes your music sound many times better.
When it comes to sound quality, I think PowerAmp is the best by far. On the other hand, n7player has a GUI more pleasing to the eye. And also, there is the price, but if You want to enjoy the music in its fullest I say go with PowerAmp. I use it myself and just love it.

No you don't. PlayerPro comes with an EQ like PowerAmp, but you can add the DSP package if you want to. IMO PowerAmp is all flash and bling with OK audio, while PlayerPro concentrates on being easy to navigate and deliver great sound. Like PowerAmp you can tweak the audio exactly like you want it and the DSP addon only allows you to push it a little further.
But between PowerAmp and N7? PowerAmp aaaall the way.
I know it's not listed but for the audiophile there can be only one player: Neutron Music Player.
Really just try it. Better than poweramp
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
PlayerPro FTW! For me the best music player, i tried PowerAmp but i dont like its UI, PlayerPro is much easier to use.
now Poweramp is the best audio player for android device but for the best quality of sounds you should use some other thinks like audiobeats or scripts to get better voice
How awesome wouldn't it be if somebody resourceful made a meticulous blind test using different Android music playback options on a high end system!
Personally I find minimal difference in image, width and dynamics between different player apps; voodoo sound is what makes real impact in my ears.

Well the dsp engine in neutron mp really shines. It also features enhanced audio interpolation methods (1GHz+ CPU required for best quality) and Ambiophonics R.A.C.R. DSP. Try it people!

PowerAMP all the way for me
Fantastic sound can be had from the 10 band EQ, and it has decent presets. The UI is gorgeous and its very simple to manipulate, even when you're on the go. It plays everything i throw at it, and i can change tags/artwork from within the app... the list goes on
Been using PowerAMP for about 2 years now, and it's still the best

Yup, that would be interesting. But we'd need an audiophile for that. Anyone interested? Download the PowerAmp, PlayerPro demos and other players and share your thoughts.
the problem is... some demo only lasted for 30 sec... will be hard to really test the software... unless errr... nevermind
Wuut? PowerAmp and PlayerPro demos lasts for two weeks.

[req] working dsp manager for ics

Hi,
As title says can anyone get a WORKING DSP manager working on ARC S ICS?
Or something similar like clear bass from Xperia S, or even Beats Audio.
Cheers

Just do a search on these forums for dsp ics.
I did and found it and it works great.

why didnt you link it /cry

here's a link to the thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1425973
There's a couple of different versions, so if one doesn't work another one might
Also the Stock music player ( looks like gingerbread) runs a service in the background
If you go to running apps and select music player a service called "equlizerservicempl" (or something like that) will be running and need to be stopped for dsp to have an effect
I'm using at the mo the xperia s music player from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1519657
Only i can't make playlists, so have to use another music player
If anyone knows why/has a solution i would be very happy to have it
Btw i'm on an offical ICS rooted Arc s
Got one working, but keep getting force close on it, it is still working though coz I can tell difference in sound both in phone speaker and my stereo Bluetooth but each time I change a setting in dsp it force closes the app.
Also when I plug in a headset, it won't even go into dsp but force closes straight away.
Any advice or solutions?
Edit: Srkineo, by the way the one you posted above is the only one that worked. The rest caused problems like killing my music player. But like I said I still have force close issue with dsp manager
Sent from my LT18i using xda premium
This was my reason for opening this thread, there is currently no dsp manager that is FULLY WORKING on the arc s.
Sent from my LT18i using xda premium
Are you using stock ics player?
Because I couldn't get it to play nice with that one.
Most dsp manager works with ics . However, not all players support dsp manager in ics. If u want to use dsp manager , try different players. What I used was mixing player but now I'm using n7 player cause its equalizer is better imo.

With DSP on sense roms it's either affecting the Global Audio Output or it's not...period. The Htc music enhancements can conflict with DSP but once they are disabled completely DSP can flourish...only not in ICS. I get FC's too particularly with the equalization setting. I'm gonna work on it and see what I can find. If anyone else can beat me to it by all means.
Well dsp is working for me. No FC's
All i did was root

Install CWM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437840&highlight=cwm
Install Xperia S Music player, (but as i said i can't edit playlists or use Sound Enhancements, I disabled this from Settings/apps/all/soundenhancements)

Istall Dsp ICS (One with CM9 in file name)

Hope I've helped
Sorry if i haven't, just trying to help others
im trying to get this on my g2x. i think it works better as a system app and if the rom supports it. it matters on the rom i think.
Agree. System app is a must with this.
Also any other equalizer services running at the same time will cancel the effect out I think.
hey Metallijim thanks very very very much! also to the guy who made this post. i was looking for a working dsp manager. so nice of you guys!! thanks again~
No worries.

Yup, I agree its the best one I've used so far
Have you tried doubletwist? It's not too bad.
I like Google Play Music the best because the interface looks really snazzy and the homescreen widget looks good next to the other stock ICS widgets. The cloud sync features are also pretty useful.
Player pro or Poweramp. I use Poweramp.
I use the Poweramp, but i like the winamp too.
I'm fairly certain by now I've tried them all and not one was even close to as useful as Poweramp. I bought it because I liked it that much!
It's packed full of useful options and features, hard to avoid this one!
Ironically, the best music player I've found was the stock one in CM9 before they switched to Apollo.
Aside from that, I'd recommend poweramp, just don't expect any support for it. Last I checked their support forums was full of spam and hadn't seen any non-newb questions getting answered in months.
Poweramp because it's equalizer remains the best. Player Pro's eq isn't a good in my opinion but it is still a solid player.
I like n7player

Best music player you found

-updated
What's the best music player you found....audio quality...easy of use...and ofcourse better than default music player
Let me start first...
Denon music player for audio when you disable equaliser is the good sound quality...but the bad...it is not user friendly...and equaliser have to disable manually..the setting only for tune in...not for the app itself
And the other one is poweramp audio quality is good..but lower audio quality than denon music app....the one things I like about it is...the player is easy to use...the interface is good...
Just reviewed...ithink it is the best overall...player pro...audio quality superb...it blend nicely with beats...interface good...and yrs it is better than stock
Recommended
Tried winamp...not better than stock music player...
Tried double twist..the sound smear...well if you find good on your hox+ let me know

Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk 2
Tried Denon but it pays no attention to volume button, therefore volume is stuck at about 80%. Stock player at same relative volume has far better bass response on the Photek track I used for comparison. The stock player also seemed to have a more spacious sound and better stereo separation. No Beats used, useless thing.
Volume issue seems related to eq. Disable eq and volume toggle responds. Changed to Orbital track, in flac. Belfast, classic tune. Anyhoo, Denon has a very weak sound. Highs seem overly compressed and a bit too quiet. Stock player, no complaints.
Subjective question, so subjective answer. Stock is better.
I'm a huge fan of PowerAmp as well.
Stock HTC player, doesn't get much easier than that. Works great, never needed a reason to try another.

I use high end In-Ears for $130. (No, I don't mean beats!)
The sound is impressive and better than with any other music player.
I never got smear sound or somethin' else.
Seriously, what's wrong with Winamp? Best interface ever, sound quality is awesome (especially with equalizer adjustements in Pro version), ability to browse collection using folders, .flac support... I've been using it since launch and I like it the best.
I like poweramp, I tried the stock player, and playing through my alpine hd137blue tooth they sound the same to me. My interiors are alpine type r powered by v-power amp, so I turn off all sound enhancements. I just prefer the poweramp UI, the stock player is too plain IMO. Admittedly though, the blue tooth sound quality could use improvement, my old desire z left nothing to be desired in terms of sound quality over BT, I miss it for that reason.
