[Q] I can't install a 4.1.2 ROM anymore? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i have X-treme ROM which is android version 4.2.2, and i want to switch to OMEGA ROM which is samsung base 4.1.2. but it seems to stuck on the loading screen. and yes, i did wipe data and factory reset and cashe and dalvik cashe (sorry if i spelled that wrong). now im not asking that omega isnt working. (i would then go ask the developer) im asking that, does upgrading to 4.2.2 prevents to switch back to 4.1.2? because it didnt also happened to me with OMEGA, but with others ROMS that have sammy base. and i also tried to flash 4.1.2 with odin all new clear without any root and ROM. but didnt work. so, does 4.2.2 prevent me to switch back to 4.1.2?

I have the same issue. MIUIv5 is based on 4.1.2 stock too and it does boot up. I think you could give a shot restoring a stock rom and flashing rom from base

[Q] Rom switching tip

Hello there, this is my first day with my Samsung Galaxy S III. Coming from the Nexus, x user of S1, S2, Note.
On my Touchwiz rom days, When switching between Touchwiz & AOSP roms, used not to be directly successful. So is it the same case on my S III now ? Like when flashing an AOSP rom, when reverting back, what are the required steps? Thank you. Enjoying this device, the display is just AWESOME
all you have to do is make a factory reset in cwm and flash a zipped custom rom or simply put your mobile in download mode and flash the stock rom via odin.
I just flashed CM10 from Stock 4.0.4 Touchwiz rom. So now basically, if I want to flash a Jelly Bean Touchwiz rom, I just flash in CWM? And when I want to go back from Jelly Bean to AOSP, same thing? - Just trying to avoid bootloops and using Odin or such...TY

Yes you can flash back and forth..........just make sure you WIPE WIPE WIPE correctly. so you do NOT have those issues.
believe it or not improper or not fully wiping your phone before flashing a new rom are alot of the reasons why some people have bugs that others do not.

[Q] Downgrade via ROMs?

Hi, sorry if this question has been asked millions of times. I wanted to flash Paranoid Android ROM 2.21 and it's running on Jellybean 4.1.2. If I flash PA running 4.1.2 and I find a ROM I like running 4.1.1. can I just flash the rom normally? Or do I have to a whole bunch of things? Thanks

As long as its the same android version, you'd just have to ensure you do a complete wipe and install the rom with its default kernel. To upgrade say from PA 2.16 to 2.17 you could (though advisable not to) simply flash without a wipe. But to downgrade, you'd have to.

if you want a stock rom, you can flash jelly bean 4.1.2 from odin. if you want AOSP ROMs, you can flash CM10.1, Paranoid Android etc. if you want a rom based on stock rom, theres android revolution HD and Omega rom. go to the android development and original android development, you can find a lot of things there

[Q] 4.0.4 to CM 10.1

Okay, so this is an *extra* noobish question, but I just wanted to be 100% sure of things before I did anything.
Is it safe to flash CM 10.1 from Android 4.0.4? My Galaxy S2 isn't wanting to update to 4.1.2 from 4.0.4 for whatever reason, but seeing as CM 10.1 will be a clean flash, will it matter?
I didn't think it would have, seeing as (from what I understand) it completely replaces the OS, but I just wanted to check before doing anything, just in case. After all, I don't really want to do anything to my phone like that without being 100% sure on everything first
I had 4.0.4 and went to cm 9 them to cm10.1 nightly. Just flash and wipe cache and dalv in cwm then reboot. Dont full wipe
After cm installed you can full wipe.
Make sure flash is successful to cm befor full wipe.
alliance 7.3
apollo 4.5 extreme v2
I9100
As your on 4.0.4 flash a custom kernel like siyah before you do anything and don't wipe data in cwm.

Hey buddy,
!!!first of all please just do a Backup of all, so that u always (99% of cases) can go back.!!!
!!!That for backup all apps and save them backuped folder and all other important files to PC!!!
After that u should root ur phone (CWM comes with it - replaces the recovery mode)
the un can copy all files to sd card and can flash the zip's BUT only with a full factory reset. (this is the most reason for problems alter on)
For more infos please check the newbie sections.
PS: This is only the easiest and fastest way. This maybe isn't the most secure one, as u dodn't update the android version before etc...
But it should work anyway
PPS: An exactly guide for flashway u find in my supported i9100 RootBox-thread (signature) in my Help-Index [FLASH]

Right, so I've already flashed Siyah V5.0.1 Kernel, and have made a backup of my data using CWM.
Hmm, should I just install the CM 10.1 using the CWM Rom installer? Or would this not work seeing as I'm not running the latest version of my phone?

As I said it should work.
Keep in mind to do the full wipe and flash Gapps after rom.
Much success

No Voice on Phone Call

Whenever I flash any AOSP based rom and then try to revert back to Samsung based roms I lose the telephone functionality i.e I'm unable to hear people when on a call. This can only be resolved by flashing stock rom via Odin and then flashing recovery followed by custom rom.
I really don't know the reason as I've used AOSP based roms frequently on my galaxy r and never faced this issue.
I do a full wipe followed by system format before moving from AOSP to Samsung based roms.
For Instance: I flashed PAC rom and for some reason wanted to go back to Omega rom. So I took a backup etc , wiped data , caches and system and flashed the rom. Everything else works but no voice on call unless I flash stock ROM via odin.
Any input will be appreciated.

No. Once I flash the stock rom via odin for instance xxemc3 and then flash custom recovery and install the rom via cwm it works.
My point is that why do I have to take the step of flashing the rom via odin and then installing the rom? This problem only occurs when I move from AOSP based roms to sammy based ones.
When I move from samsung based custom to another samsung based custom [omega rom to null ] it does not occur and neither does it occur during a switch between AOSP based roms.
