[Q] confused - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys i am very confused i want to buy a new phone and i am confused between galaxy grand duos with big 5 inch screen and dual sim card but i am a gaming person i love hd games and i love also browsing and reading ebooks
i watch alot of youtube videos for both galaxy s2 and galaxy grand which one i should pick i love the 16 gb in s2 and gpu power and otg idea so plz help me

Listen mate, what do you want any of us to say?
It's a world of pointlessness asking for a phone comparison in a S2 forum (the wrong section by the way) because all you're going to get is biased responses.
Check the specs of both phones, check the reviews and make up you're own mind.
Asking a load of complete strangers to make purchase decisions for you is no way to go through life son.

for me galaxy s2 (i9100) is the best you can see the benchmarks on gsmarena

Yup.Galaxy s2 is much better than grand duos.It can run games smoothly.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium

I wouldn't buy it again since Samsung doesn't release documentation about Exynos chip and therefore custom ROMs won't run bug-free. I guess I'd try a Sony or take a look at the Fairphone at fairphone.com.
By the way, you're in the wrong section. Ask a moderator to move it to Q&A please.

Not necessarily biased as people experienced with a S2 can definitely give great comparison on how other phone's work better/worse.
Ok to the OP, first of all the display is the only relevant and major factor here, other hardware configuration are either equal or inferior compared to the S2 (The Mali Gpu is definitely more powerful),for the duo's the internal memory is at 8gb or something right(at the same price S2 will have 16).
Ok about the display the only good is that it's 5" rest about it is crap, come on comparing a tft touchscreen with an amoled plus is not even remotely fair. Amoled outshines(pun!) tft, period. For a 5" screen the resolution is same as the S2's, the ppi is so low the pixels can be seen as big ugly dots.
So in almost every regards S2 does infact outshines the grand, but if you want a bigger screen you will have to go for the grand.
This review by me is not biased, I compared every specs of the device for a friend and found it completely unimpressive.

thansk guys i respect all opinions and i will buy s2 coz the last mobile i have ws xperia miro it was bad android experience coz the internal memory and low spec

S2 will be a bad Android experience, too. TouchWiz will become ugly very soon and custom ROMs don't work as supposed and will always be a bit buggy =/

well at least we have to answer his question first
even if someone managed to port it chances are the phone will puke it out.. One X have a considerably higher specs than S2.. hence it'll be unlikely that S2 will have that kind of features..

[Q] Which phone should i go for?

Hello everyone!
I wanted to buy a new phone but i am a lil bit confused. I like to play HD games on my phone, surf internet, listen music, take pictures and a GOOD battery life. Here's the list of phones in which i m confused:-
1. HTC One X
2. Sony Xperia S
3. HTC One S
4. LG Lucid 4G
Which of the above phone should i go for?
Please help me out!!
It depends on what you want out of a phone. For example if you have giant hands you'll probably want a note. If your not a giant but still want a big screen, Galaxy Nexus. I have a Nexus and I'm amazingly happy with it and the community around it. Saying this the one X has had amazing reviews and has a quad core. Hopefully this enlightened you some what.
Edit: I don't personally like xperia phones and the software they come with. So that's why I didn't mention this one

Which phone is better is down to each person -
1. HTC One X (Hear alot of people not happy with phone)
2. Sony Xperia S ( Just dont go for sony)
3. Samsung Galaxy Nexus ( best choice)
4. Samsung Galaxy Note I1717 ( wait for the galaxy s3)
This is just my view but i would go for the galaxy s3 or the galaxy nexus, the s3 will be a popular phone and thus will get a lot of dev support.

I know its dual core and after sometime every phone will be getting dual core. I don't like gnex because of the company samsung , I hate samsung (my opinion).
If it would be a HTC phone , i would have bought it by now.
And Brand matters to me.

First of all i don't like it designs at all and the way it copies the designs of other cell phones. In australia , a case has also been registered against Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1 for copying the design of Apple ipad .

I have a SGSII. I can test the Nexus and personally I won't change for it. Ok, the update can be faster, but if you can put CM10 if you want the last version (yes, with some bugs, but they make a excellent job).
Only my opinion...
Nexus' biggest disadvantage: no microSD slot!!
Sent from my GT-I9100
in galaxy nexus 5mp camera. in sgs2 8mp camera
there is no sdcard slot in galaxy nexus.
I choose sgs2 and I don't want change it for galaxy nexus
Have a look at them both here

Personally would not have a Nexus over SGS2 regardless of updates

Reconsider...
may sound like a good "upgrade" but really I promise it isn't... Galaxy Nexus is same guts with a lesser camera... a more clunky feel in your pocket and lacks gorilla glass.... the development that is going on in the xda community here is far superior to anything you will find stock from the nexus... before you jump ship... give the team's work a try.

updates from google, we have cyanogen with fantastic roms but lacks close sources like video calls and nice camera app like on stock samsung roms
i think the updates to use all the features from the phone are better in nexus devices

u are right, the camera on S2 is amazing, but i have to ask u this, do u have an GNEX? and why the question? im aiming google experience and not the score on quadrant, i know the cpu is the same speed, i know tha S2 as a better gpu but i dont play games

Is this phone worth buying?

Sorry if this has already been posted or is in the wrong section i am new to the forums.
Okay i recently got into rooting and putting custom roms on my phone right now i have an HTC evo 4g.
But i am eligable for an upgrade with sprint i have been waiting for a while because i knew there would be an amazing phone to be released soon enough and i am starting to think the SIII.
Is this phone worth it? I would only be paying 250$ for the 32gb and 199$ for the 16gb with my upgrade.
is there any other phones that are up there with the galaxy s3 on sprints network? Or should i just go and get this phone.
is it alot faster then the s2? also will i be able to put jellybean on it if i was to get it? is there a stable release out.
Yes. Go get this phone.
Is the best currently available.

Buy the phone if you want it. It's a great phone but it may not suit your needs. Check it the specs and compare it with other phones you can choose from .
Your s3 model won't be the international version, it will be the dial core version so check their forum to see their development.

The dual core GS3 has documented and developer-friendly Qualcomm = definitely worth buying.
S3 is easily the best phone I have ever owned (and I have owned a great many top-spec phones).
That said I preferred the S2 in terms of size and weight. But the S3 has a higher quality screen and considerably better battery life
Oooh i see now the I9300 is the quad core version which is not in the US
The US version is dual core.

Thank you very much.
Just wanted to add my opinion to this one as I'm sick of all the exnos bashing.
Just because cm devs can't get it to work properly does not mean it's bad. It's the best version and I've never ever used a ti Omap or Qualcomm based phone that wasn't **** and dont get me started on cm roms on phones as from desire onwards I've never encountered a cm version worth installing as they aren't worth it. Stock android has always been and always will be lacking and ugly no matter how many cookie cutter mods you implement like volume button wake which is old old old.
Do yourself a favour and stick to Samsung based roms and save the headache and the laughs from people who see your stock android device and the pictures that come off the aosp camera among other things.
The SG III is way better value than the iphone 5.
If you want something "worth buying", you are the only one who can actually decide on this.. because it may/may not suit you. So i suggest you search and gather info for yourself so you get accurate infos
I do not mean to flame or anything, just a mini-suggestion. Hopefully this will help you in your decision
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
I am surprised that no one said that you should wait for the Note 2 or the new Nexus or the next Galaxy S x, where x>3. There will always be better, but when you actually start using the phone you see that you don't need anything more, except less call log lag
It is that great that I don't even have the urge to root it right now and I rooted and reflashed everything android I had before.

Should i trade my xperia U for a samsung galaxy S advance ?

Does the samsung galaxy S have 2 cores or just one ?, what about ram, screen quality and gpu.Oh and hows the developing on S.
Don't trade! Galaxy S has ****ty old low screen, 1ghz single core old architecture processor, also bad music playback, same ram size as xperia u but still the ram of the xperia u is far better, old low gpu also, the development was huge for the Samsung galaxy s before but by now it isn't going to keep that status

If you're talking about Galaxy S Advance, then yes, it has a bigger AMOLED screen, MicroSD card support and Android 4.1.
If you're talking about Galaxy S, then no.
Well, you could either buy the Galaxy S Advance, Galaxy Ace 2 or the Galaxy S III Mini.
I personally would either pick the cheapest option (the Ace 2) or the S III Mini.
Its the advance S. But i dont know i have to know how much difference in cash do i have to put over my xperia u.Of course i cant just trade it off without giving the guy some extra money, will post here when i get to know. Thanks for your opinions.

Isn't a Sony's build quality much better than Samsung's?
Specs can always be better, but at the end of the day the build quality, screen and camera matter than the 'latest' OS.
Also Sony's stock rom is way better than Samsung. My sister has a galaxy s2 and she's not into rooting and stuff, she hates her phone...
That's my 2 cents
