Its the problem of the JB update, try installing 'Siyah kernel v6-b5', so that u can adjust the same using the 'Stweaks' app that comes along with it

The other thing to look at is your phone reception. I've had trouble with viber because of a bad data connection. Same symptoms, it's just really hard to hear. If you do decide to root, try changing the modem to something with better data connection.
Note : hit thanks button by accident

Hi,
This is Viber's rep.
I'm here to assist.
@nedst - Did you try to uninstall>reinstall Viber? Which Viber version do you have?
Does it happen on every call or only with specific contacts?
Thanks,
Viber Team

Viber mic problems

when I use Viber I can listen but the other person can't hear me. I have this problem with Viber at this moment.
I think is a poblem with the mic, but works fine in other apps.

Hi,
This a member of the Viber Team, I'm here to help.
It sounds like the typical Custom ROM issue - some custom ROMs alter the microphone definitions of your phone, causing Viber not to recognize the phone's microphone properly. That is the reason that Viber cannot transmit your sound to the other side. We discussed this issue in detail with our users in this thread on XDA Forums: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25865775#post25865775
Please note that in that thread, a workaround was suggested *by a user* (and not officially by us) that seemed to have solved the problem for Galaxy S+S2 users.
Let us know if the issue persists.
Thanks

[GO] Phone answering lags on 4.1.2

Maybe some of you recognised this problem too, but after I used the search button I didn't find anything.
So after I upgraded my ST27i from ICS to JB, I'm experiencing heavy lags when someone calls me. Usually when I try answer the call, I have to wait about 8-10 sec to actually answer that call and to start talking.
I've tried it on stock JB, and custom JB too but both of them have the same issue. On ICS everything is working fine without bugs.
Anyone got some solution for it?
Best Regards,
+1 same here. Sometimes when dialling, too.

Hi. Any solutions for this problem? Have been facing the same thing for months...
Delete call history
I think the only way to fix this is to download apps from play store call "Ex dialer"nearly all Xperia u user rate it 5 star.
Correct me if I'm wrong
If you have CWM, wipe cache partition and use Seeder 2.0
This is a ram management problem causes phone to release all apps in memory and then reboots phone I have solved my problem by installing clean master from the play store and after its setup not 1 hang from phone.apk calling out and incoming fine

Finally I got some new results today, after struggling with this problem for months.
First I tried all the suggested methods (clearing the call log, installing all those apps), and none of them worked -- except CWM that I didn't try, because I wasn't root.
What solved my problem, was to do a clean flash (and wipe everything during flashing). The problem was totally gone. Note that "wiping every thing" during flashing is a key thing that I guess last time I hadn't done.
Everything was good until I restored all my backed up contacts -- around 1500 contacts. Then it was laggy again!
Then I again did a hard reset. Problem was gone again. But this time I was lucky enough to restore the contacts, and have my system in a healthy state -- no lags so far! I don't know what was different this time, but it's got to have something to do with the contacts!
I'll keep you updated if I find any changes -- worth reporting.

Just remove any VOIP software you have like viber, skype , etc. I know you might be using them but yeah sony's rom has issues with viber specially which causes this lag.. if u wanna use viber use a cm rom or stock ics, or gb. JB is buggy in terms of 3rd party VOIP support

How To Fix NO Sound during a call on CM11

How to fix no sound during a call on CM11
I'm running CM11 and I have the issue and I spent 48 hours to find a fix for it
the thing is when the device first boot up and you call a number there will be no sound only the other guy can hear you
in order to fix the issue you need to play any sound before you do your first call after boot up
You need to do this ONCE after boot
So I said to myself why the hell I dont use Tasker to play a notification sound on boot up ??
lol its fixed now and every time my device boot up it plays a notification sound
hope this will help the people who has this software issue until CyanogenMod fix it
and I don't know any fix if the problem is from the phone's hardware guys
If you'll use tasker do the follwing :
New profile > Event > System > Device Boot
then back to creat new task
Alert > Notify Sound
choose a Title
Choose an Icon (optional)
**Choose any sound file from your phone and its better if its just a short notification sound
then back and save your profile and you're done
I don't know if other AOSP based Roms or Sammy Roms has the same issue but if so try this fix with them too
This is my very very first helpful thread on XDA
and sorry for my bad English guys

I had this problem after each nightly update. I had to do a wipe. Your solution works. I checked today. thank you very much!
Affects stock rom as well if you have disabled the boot sound.
I wish there was a free alternative to tasker just to do this, my solution is play a second of music everytime I reboot, but it's annoying if you forget.
Enabling the Unlock Sound produces the same effect. This has been posted many times before. Although with latest versions, this seems to be a thing of the past.
Thanks!

Same problem on my G5, with other apps the mic recording is perfect, so i think the problem is within WhatsApp, it will be fixed in the next version.

on updated stock roms it's already been fixed. when you use cm/lineage you need to install a kernel with sound control, for example crazyKernel

Hi! THanks for your answer.
I must say first, that I'm not using an LG G5 but a Samsung Relay phone, is just I had the same problem and I'm trying to find a solution to people having the same problem.
Having said that, I never had problems with stock, it's with cyanogenmod 11. Do you think I can also use crazykernel? Did that fix the voice notes problem in whatsapp for your phone? I only have problems with voice notes, everything else works as expected.
Best,

No you can't use crazykernel, they are device specific. Search for a Stock(if you are using Stock rom) kernel for your device with Sound Control

Microphone not working out of a call

Hello XDA!
I'm having troubles with my Honor 7 and the microphone is part of them...
It only works on a phone call (which is nice) but doesn't work when I'm taking a video, trying to talk to Google Assistant or thing like that.
Do you know how I can solve my problem?
Thank you for helping me!

What are you using for taking vids? Stock or a downloaded app? Google asst. has been giving issues lately. Try updating the asst. via Google play. If that doesn't help, try uninstalling and reinstalling it. If that fails, grab an older version from apkmirror.

Why not try a factory reset before reinstalling stock firmware. It's easier and in a sense achieves the same as a reinstall.
