[Q] Rooting S2 I9100G JB - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have an I9100G running stock JB (DDLS3). Is there a way I can root it without flashing a custom ROM? I tried using jiangyi's and ryuinferno's methods, but both return a signature verification failure error in recovery mode.
Has anyone rooted this firmware yet?

Yes. Heaps. With Ryuinferno's Su+Bb installer method on stock XXLSR, it works.

I tried doing that. It says signature verification failure when I select the SU-BB zip file in recovery mode. Looks like they changed something in the Indian firmware.

Or you can flash stock XXLSR and do the Su+Bb zip flash method instead? Last I checked the Indian release are missing a few features. Just saying...

What should I prepare before some error is occurred ?
I never update to ICS, so I don't know which one the StockROM is.
Anyone could help me ?

Read some guides for odin. Then go to www.sammobile.com and download a stock firmware and flash through odin, there's some ics firmware on the site.
Or you can root your device and flash a custom rom through cwm recovery.

Yay... Success...
I hope there's no error when I'm used it

Problem Installing Wanamlite. Status 7.

I have a problem installing Wanamlite on my S2. I'm getting the Status 7, Installation Aborted error when flashing through CWM. I have searched for similar threads and all but cant find any. The closest solution was to delete a getprop line which I read from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28594852&postcount=9721
However I cant find the line in the updater-script file.
I’m coming from a Galaxy S2.
Android Version: 2.3.3
Baseband: XXKL1,
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9100XXKH1-….
Build: Gingerbread.DXKI2
I figured I must be doing something wrong, do I have to change my kernel or build or baseband before flashing this? I would appreciate any help!
Flash stock ICS, CF-Root and then Wanamlite.

Thanks for your quick response! Can I just confirm if i can do all this through CWM? I just download the needed zip files, boot into recovery, then install stock ics zip file, then cf root zip file, then wanamlite?
For the CF-root, which version should I install?
You flash CF-Root through Odin only. Stock firmware also through Odin.
Wanamlite through CWMR.
And version... exactly the same as build number of stock FW.

Okay thanks so much. I'm now following the guide here (http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-ph...-sandwich-on-your-samsung-galaxy-s2-50006766/) to flash stock ICS 4.0.3, and will then flash the CF-root.
Im just curious as to what CF-Root does. Since my phone is already rooted.
You need CF-Root because after flashing ICS you will lose root.
CF-Root installs su, busybox and CWMR.

Thanks for your help. I just re-installed ICS 4.0.3 XXLPQ and rooted by installing CF-ROOT (CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-v5.3-CWM5.tar). However when I try and install the wanamlite, i still get Status 7, installation aborted. Any ideas why this happens?
Maybe you need to disable signature checking. Eventually ask in Wanamlite thread.
Thanks for the help. I managed to fix this. I think there was a problem in the zip file. I downloaded the non blue theme instead and it worked!

[Q] Signature verification failed on official JB update?

Hey guys, newb here.
I'm running a rooted Galaxy S3 International version I9300 on ICS 4.0.4
I'm using the official stock ROM, and I've flashed no mods/scripts/themes.
So basically the only modification I did to my device was rooting it.
I also see that you'll be needing this: (*#1234# dial)
AP:I9300XXBLH1
CP: I9300XXLH1
CSC: I9300OXFBLH1
So I got the official JB software update for my phone this morning, downloaded it and tried to install. However, the device aborted the installation because it failed to verify the signature. I've re-downloaded the official update 3 times, and the same thing happened 3 times. What do I do?
As you may have noticed, I'm a complete noob at android terminology, so if theres any way you can make your answer simpler, please do

Stock to kitkat?

The path from stock to custom on the i777:
gather onto internal memory, or micro-sd:
-Framaroot
-Mobile Odin APK
-Mobile Odin flash kernel for i777
-i777_firmware.zip
-Boot.img (extracted from i777-firmware.zip)
install and use framaroot
^^ uses an exploit to establish and manage root access
install mobile Odin and the mobile Odin flash-kernel
^^ the method that will NOT trip the custom-flash monitor
flash the boot.img via Mobile Odin
^^ flashes the kernel and recovery of the i777_firmware.zip, to ensure installation compatibility
^^ once flashed, you will no longer be able to boot into the stock android installation
boot to recovery
install i777_firmware.zip
enjoy

thanks 4 helping bro ,now updated to official jellybean from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=15433,so still the above methods i can use to flash custom recovery right?
That is correct. Whether gingerbread or jellybean, the same procedure applies to go from stock to custom (without tripping the flash counter).

Working ROM for Samsung SM-T211????

I have tried numerous ROMS, but the only one, that worked was a prerooted original Samsung 4.1.2 ROM, that was fully loaded by Odin.
All other ROMS are stuck in the boot process.
I have done:
Install root - CWM or similar
Wiped
Install ROM
Any suggestions for a Kit-Kat ROM, that is debloated and working?

Go to this link and download stock 4.4 and flash it with odin. Then reflash twrp and then try the custom roms. I think that you still have JB bootloader. Need to upgrade to KK to get the bootloader.

Which firmware from your link or is it not an issue?
Anyway I tried one version, but CWM could not install it??

It reports not being able to "Update", so I guess it is an update - not an complete installation??

Doesn't matter I don't think. You have to flash that firmware with Odin and the device in download mode. Once it's finished you'll have stock 4.4 and the KK bootloader. Then reflash cwm with Odin, then use cwm to install the custom ROMs.
