Seriously, why would want to ruin a perfectly good tablet?
But to answer your question: No. The XTZ does not have a Microsoft-blessed chip set required for Windows 8 RT.

This may sound like a weird question, but I am just curious to know if it is possible to install windows 7, or xp on Galaxy tab 10.1. As my limited knowledge about computers tells me, GT is essentially a computer with a cpu and ram and a kind of hard drive, so theoretically at least, it seems to me that it should be possible to install windows on the tablet.

Welcome to the forums. The answer is no. Windows won't run on the chip that's in the tablet (it's called ARM architecture; same reason windows won't run on a cellphone). I've heard rumors that windows 8 may be possible at some point.
I have Windows 7 on my Tab 10 so yes you can use Windows 7.

You have the install disc sitting on your Tab?
Seriously, though. That sounds like horse**** from the same guy who claims to have played with Kal-el devices. Let's see a video.
How's this?
Splashtop HD running my home computer from work.

Excuse the fumbling. It's hard to work the screen looking at the phone screen. And I should mention that we only have an 802.11g connection here at work.
Thank you Jay Evans for proving them wrong.
Well, holy hell! That means I have OS X Lion running on my Tab.
Thank you for the replies. Although I understand that some of us here might be in a rather humorous mood, but just to clarify: my question was not about remote desktops. I still think there has to be a way to have windows running on GT. Another question in this regard is about virtual machines. Is there any kind of VM available for honeycomb tablets?
While it might be possible you wouldn't enjoy the results. Especialy if you want to run actual programs on it. It would be as slow as molassas and suck the battery dry in no time.
Better to buy a Win 7 tablet and wait for something like Bluestacks to run Android or wait for the ARM version of Win 8.
It won't happen, Windows is based off x86 architecture and Android Tablets and phones are based off of ARM architecture, Windows 8 will have support for ARM though, so wait a year
While the answer to your question is still 'no', it is possible to run Windows 95 or 98 using emulators. There is a QEMU port for Android ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6661598 ) that does it, and I've also heard that you can install windows using AnDosBox.
hi there i've got an old Fujitsu Siemens Stylistic Tablet, originally ran Windows 2000 & can handle XP (albeit slowly) .. Its got a Pentium III and 512MB Ram
was just wondering if is possible to run android on this and bring back some life to it....
any help would be appreciated ... thanks
maybe you would rather try meego or just plain linux?
i'll give MeeGo a go haven't tried that before, thanks. tried ubuntu already but it wouldn't work, supposedly an earlier version of SUSE might work but i'd prefer something a bit more modern and android if at all possible....
Your best bet would be Windows 8, try installing the developer version and see.
well windows 8 would definitely not work, we're talking about a 10 year old tablet here...

On a P3? wtf?
From what I've read won't be able to run Windows 8rt on my Prime, since its not open sourced.
But is it correct that I can buy a Windows 8rt tablet, like the asus tf600 and install android on it?
The reason I ask is because I have to replace my Prime anyway and would like to get the best bang for my buck.
Thanks in advance

I suppose there may be a method considering you can dual boot Windows and Linux. So I guess there IS hope but I wouldn't count on a method being developed quickly.

I wouldnt count on it until you have seen it happen.
Don't get an itchy trigger finger based on a what if
I dont think it would be possible. Microsoft locked their tablets down pretty hard. I would be surprised if you could install open software on it, without using exploits and stuff. But i'm no expert
On the other hand, why would you want Windows RT anyway? If you need office look into softmaker office for android Its really good.
You will NEVER be able to use Windows 8 (x86/x64) and Android on the same System. They are not compatible because of the hardware!
You could only use Android & Windows RT --> ARM Processors
Or Windows 8 (x86/x64) and Linux --> x86 Processors

this is more interesting and I ´m looking how to become android (like tf300 or tf700) on my tf 600.
Yeah me too
maybe if you got one with Windows 8 Pro (like the surface Pro) you could run Bluestacks on it. That will run Android apps, just not the whole operating system.

There are Linux distros for ARM processors.
SecureBoot
Now that linux can get past SecureBoot, this seems vaguely possible. I'm no expert though.

The main issue is still that W8 is closed source software as well as paid software. It would technically be illegal

In order for you to run Android on the tablet someone would have to first port Android to the tf600, sadly at this time there are no Android ports for the tf600 available.
Hi,
I was thinking about installing Windows on my Ultra.
Could you please tell me if this is possible ? I have heard that some problem with the Bios may arise
thanks for your expert advice !

It is perfectly possible if there is somebody to bother doing it. Years ago I was a happy owner of the HTC HD2....a device that could run perfectly Windows Mobile, Windows Phone, Android, Ubunto and much more Only iOS was never fully ported [ It could even dual boot Windows Phone and Android, Some folks tried even tripple boot.
There was in fact a full Windows 95 installation for the HD2. I guess newer versions of Windows would not run on it in at a decent speed. Not very usefull for daily use but a nice way to shock everybody  Sometimes I really miss this device and it's unique developer support. You could really have a totally different phone EVERY day without spending even a euro.
The HD2 is a freak of nature. It started out with Windows Mobile, so that's the reason why it can run "everything Microsoft" out of the box. Android and Ubuntu are open, so it's fairly easy to "port" them to it. iOS is closed like WM/WP, so that's why they haven't fully succeeded to get iOS up and running.
Is it possible to get Windows on the Ultra? Maybe, but i can't imagine any sane person would do it. It would've been all over the place if it was easy.
And just for the lulz, here's Engadget's HD2 review
"The HD2 is a magnificent monster. It is a hulking, intimidating, massive slab of a gadget. If you think the device looks big in photos, it's nothing compared to how it seems up close. Yes, the HD2 is large -- some might say too large -- almost less a phone and more a tablet." - Engadget
Totally agreed also a lot of drivers issues as well probably... That would be simply awesome, the Ultra is doing everything for me when it relates to multimedia and most of my office tasks can be done there that is why I was dreaming about a bluetooth mouse and keyboard and an mhl cable and I can drop my laptop but apparently it is not for now

I'm waiting for @krabappel2548 to port ubuntu touch to the ultra. If I had done any low level stuff I would give it a crack my self

I did set the screen size to 100pc but nothing changed, my monitor is a Full HD 21 inch
