Hi all,
I'm on a rooted, unlocked DNA running a stock 2.04 ROM and stock recovery. I am trying to get my phone updated to 2.06 so I can S-OFF with Moonshine. Unfortunately, every time I accept the OTA it errors out, giving me an assert failed: apply_patch_check ("/system/app/BackupRestoreConfirmation.apk", "<hash code>", "<hash code>" ) error.
I assume this is because for some reason the Stock rooted ROM apks I have installed do not match what the 2.06 OTA update is looking for, but I can't find any alternatives. I tried to use the 2.06 update method in the moonshine instructions but I get a similar error. Does anyone have any advice here? I'd like to have the 2.06 update to get rid of my SIM card errors.
Thanks in advance.

this is what i found how to do it ! not any of my work no credit for me, just giving you the right direction. you can find it on the moonshine section......You MUST upgrade to 2.06 fw first. To do this, download 2.06 firmware here. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...06firmware.zip Then:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip dna2.06firmware.zip
fastboot reboot-bootloader
IMPORTANT! Then, choose "power off" in fastboot menu......hope this helps, if not there is a section with q&a about this in here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293010 and if you don't know linux there is way to do it from window's also:good:
Hi Abrego47,
Thanks, I tried that, but I couldn't get it to flash over my current apparently not-stock ROM. I'm going to try and flash one of the 2.06 Stock ROMs and see if it will work there.

i don't think you can flash this over, this is an ruu to upgrade the software. you have to get into fastboot mode and use cmd prompts to flash this. can you relock your bootloader? that is the only way i think you can do ithis!
If you are already unlocked, I assume this was from the old method? If so, just use Facepalm as you are already unlocked.

Run the unlocker posted above, after it's all said and done, you should be at the bootloader screen, just run the update for the 2.17 ROM and it should put it back on. I was having the same problem (328 error) and this fixed it for me.
thank you so much it work forr me defualt got first error then it did the recovery on vista home but it work thanks!!!
FYI the new radio doesnt work well with the old OS.
HI hope someone can help me with this, i have tried without success to unlock my bootloader, i have updated to hboot 1.02 but when i try to do the fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin it sits at 0percent and doesn't move and no errors, i've tried this with my goldcard in and out of the phone and with cyanogen and b08 roms, also for some reason i can't flash the stock rom so i can get the required update from htc(thinking that's y the unlock code won't go), i've tried getting numerous ruu's and i was getting signature verification fails every time, i tried with windows the exe and also exracted the rom.zip and still no luck, i prefer using linux and adb though and tried numerous ways to get this to work with no success, i've also tried signing a rom.zip and the phone just says no signature, also tried renaming to LEGEIMG.zip and update.zip and just can't flash stock rom, also made a new goldcard thinking the other was bad and did the htcdev for the unlock code with a goldcard and without, also tried the ruu.exe in windows with new said goldcard and i think the other was bad because i get a different error now for reason it can't update my rom(was using the rom i originally rooted with which has sense). it says wrong bootloader version when i try and update, anyone know what i can do, i'm running outta ideas, thanks in advance
I Unlocked my bootloader with HTCdev. You said you tried. What went wrong?
If you have updated your phone to one of the ruus HTC gives you ( execute the exe ), there shouldn't be any problem : the HTC guide is clear and easy. If you have successuffly unlocked the bootloader, now you have to flash the clockwork recovery.
when i go to fastboot it stays on copying at 0 percent with the unlock_code.bin....My phone has root access before i ran the hboot update and still does but i can't flash the new ruu, it won't allow me to, i tried running the htc ruu and it fails with can't update, bootloader version incorrect, i tried with the b-08 rom, i can't get back to stock
Have you tried flashing this? ----> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497357
If you don't install one of the updates given by HTC, bootloader unlock won't work. If you have the same problems that I had ( my Legend also wasn't rooted ) the RUUs won't install, right? I flashed first this one and then one of the HTC RUUs and after this everything worked perfectly.
nope, i didn't try that one yet, but the thing is my legend was rooted before i tried flashing these htc ruus, i just want my bootloader unlocked, i had cyanogen on it then flashed a rooted one with sense (b08) thinking that would let me update but it didn't, so i'm downloading that one you pointed me to now, i'll try and flash it and let you know how it goes.
When i flash that rom i get a main version is older error when i rename it to LEGEIMG and flash it via fastboot, what can i do now?
I followed Blayo's guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22613990&postcount=62 with my already rooted Legend. Try to follow exactly. You said using a gold card - don't think this is even necessary. At least I did not use one, and it is working perfectly.
After flashing the new bootloader, did you really unlock?
(last step of guide above: follow the instructions on HTCdev from Step 8 to unlock)
Wait, all the RUUs you have to flash before unlocking are HTC's executable files ( .exe ). You have updated your phone executing them, haven't you? After that I just rebooted my phone to fastboot and connected it. I found the unlock code, sent it to HTCdev, received an e-mail with the file to complete unlock and then unlocked. I never used anything like UPDATE.zip or LEGEIMG. I tried following the BlaYo's instructions but they didn't work for me. I just did what HTC said ( easyer and safer ).
hmmmmm

i solved my problem, i sold the phone and bought another legend. LOL, no seriously though, i did sell it and got another but i tried everything and couldn't unlock bootloader, i tried the exe files from htc, tried extracting the zip files, tried fastboot and renaming to LEGEIMG, just couldn't get it unlocked, so i flashed the latest cyanogen 7.2 and sold the darn thing, now i got another and made 50$ in the process as i bought the new one 50$ cheaper and i'm going to go through the htc channels to unlock the bootloader but does anyone know if i'll be able to flash cm7 after i do that?

What do you mean with 'rooting again'? Once you have unlocked bootloader, you are able to flash a recovery, and then CM, which is rooted. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24102979 for latest Recovery and latest CM7.2 builds
Ok just to update i flashed the HTC dev bin file again and had restore cm7 backup and bootloader is unlocked once again.
got her goin good now, unlocked bootloader with htcdev, fastboot flashed cwm, then i was able to flash cm7.2 and gapps no problem at all, now if we could only s-off the legend???

After unlocking boot loader:
1. Use htcsupertoolv3 to root
2. Install rom manager and titanium backup
3. Run titanium backup. It will ask you to update su. accept (i'm not sure if this step is required, but this is how i done it)
4. Copy recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-legend to your Android folder created during bootloader unlock
5. With your phone on fastboot mode open terminal in your PC android folder and type:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-legend.img
Your phone will go to recovery mode.
6. Reboot your phone in normal mode
7. From now on, each time you want to go into recovery, use rom manager
Done

So for what I have understood from HTCdev, you can do everything similar to S-OFF, with one exception: you cannot unlock a SIM lock.

True, you can't. I'm not sure if flashing a custom rom will unlock it, as my phone sim card was unlocked from very beginning. Probably not?
Hey guys,
I seriously need some help, reverting my international HOX+ back to stock, as I am going to sell it.
My main problem is, that i have an o2 germany one, for that it seems to be impossible to get any suitable RUU
I am able to unlock / relock the bootloader, flash custom or stock recovery, flash any custom rom... not a problem.
But I'm stuck with the order of the steps! When I flash a stock rom (1.17.401.xx), my next step should be flashing stock recovery and then relock bootloader, right? I did so and got a security warning at bootloader and it seems, that there is no rom left on the phone.
How do I trick this, to relock, use stock rec. and stock rom?
Thanks for any help!!!
AW: Need help, going back to stock
you need the correct RUU for O2 brandings
yep. any news, where to get it?
thought, there might be a workaround...
I think there is no ruu atm.
I'll have a look for it.
AW: Need help, going back to stock
That would be very nice!

The only o2 ruu is this one:
http://www.androidfiles.org/ruu/sec...Radio_3.1204.167.31_release_289474_signed.exe
Based on your informations, you need a ruu for a german phone.
It doesn't matter that there is "UK" in the name.
The United Kingdoms are in europe, like germany.
Give it a try and tell me if it has worked or not.
If it doesn't work, open your Bootloader and flash an custom recovery/kernel/rom and wait until there's a dumped o2 ruu.

1.Go into the bootloader and make sure your phone is connected to your computer.
2.Relock your bootloader, using the cmd (Windows) or the terminal (Linux).
3.You make it with "fastboot oem lock".
4.Run the "ruu.exe" as administrator and let it work.
5.Drink a coffee and wait until it's done.
AW: Need help, going back to stock
Ok, many thanks for that!
I already tried that ruu, but maybe my fault was, I did not lock the bootloader, before.
Will try that, later this evening and give feedback

what about running ruu, extracting rom.zip and flashing this one? ruu could be 1.17.401 for example!?
will this work or result in a brick? is this method still possible on one x series? my evo 3d provided this while using a zip named to pc86img.zip (or very similar :cyclops
edit: if possible, will the phone check cid in the zip?
pretty much same here, except I am on O2 UK, and a higher version than the RUU available so it doesn't work, so frustrating, just want to go back to stock
alternate method would be: flashing a nandroid backup of a stock rom.
problem: don't own one
Is anybody out there, who can provide me a full backup of rom 1.17.207.xx with cid 02___102 o2 germany?
that would save my weekend, guys!
Hi.
I have the same problem but am on o2_UK i cant get back to stock.Doesn't mater whatever RUU i try is the same.
I have 1.17.401.1 cid02__001 and really badly need to go on stock ROM
Any help would be great.
Thanks a lot in advance.
I'm trying to return my HTC One back to being unrooted because I wanna update it and almost everywhere I read, you need to unroot to get over the air updates. So I got S-Off and I relocked my bootloader, but whenever I try running the RUU, it always fails. I tried flashing it and I tried running the exe file. Why does it keep failing? Also, is it true you can't get OTA updates while being rooted? The RUU I use is for Cingular (which from my understanding is the one AT&T uses) and I have Super CID. Lastly, if anyone knows an easier way to return my phone to being completely stock and unrooted that would be great. Thanks in advance!
Which RUU did you use? Apparently the last official one was JB 4.3 w/ Sense 5.0, ver. 3.17.502.3. The one for KK4.4.2 w/ Sense 5.0, ver. 4.18.502.7 was apparently not actually released by ATT and many people were having problems with it.
clsA said:
Well near as I can tell the RUU did not originate from HTC, someone was able to create it and sign it same as HTC would. But the files behave differently than the "Real" HTC RUU. The only solution I found was to use the True HTC RUU from 3.xx.502.x and OTA to 4.xx.502.x to 5.xx.502.x. It requires s-off to flash the OTA's so it's not the perfect solution for everyone.

So if you tried with the KK4.4.2 RUU, download the JB4.3 RUU from http://www.htc1guru.com/. Since you're S-OFF, you can use either the .exe or the decrypted .zip. I used the decrypted .zip before and it worked fine. Once you get that flashed you can then take the OTAs to update to KK4.4.2 w/ Sense 6. You'll need to be on the AT&T network to get those OTA. Otherwise you'll need to manually flash the updates, as clsA states in his post that I quoted above.
As for not getting OTAs while being rooted....
It's not so much that being rooted prevents getting OTAs. It's the process of getting to root that modifies or deletes system files that need to be intact for the OTA to work. OTA need to be installed through stock recovery. If you're rooted, it's most likely that you have a custom recovery. Also, unlocking the bootloader deletes some files the OTA checks for. If those files not there, the OTA will not install.
Flashing an RUU is the easiest way to get completely stock. It resets the phone to an out-of-the-box state. Whereas a factory reset done from bootloader or recovery basically just wipes the data partition, which will remove any apps you installed and user data. But any modifications to the system partition that are done remain. You don't get back the files that are deleted when you unlocked the bootloader.
Also, since you are S-OFF, there's no need to relock your bootloader to run an RUU. That's only required if you're S-ON. And once you get S-OFF, there is no reason to go back to S-ON.
Since I just want to get the new OTA update, do you recommend I just flash the update as opposed to going back to stock recovery because I don't mind having a rooted phone? Also, my phones camera suddenly became blurry, is it possible that the rooting had something to do with it? If it did, would flashing the OTA update fix it or would I need to go back to stock recovery or would neither fix it? Sorry for so many questions.
First off, what version is currently on your phone? Depending on where you're currently at you may need to flash more than one update in order to get it to the latest version. And no matter what, you'll need to flash stock recovery in order for the updates to flash. OTA updates, whether taken OTA or flashed manually, require stock recovery, as I mentioned before. Also, again as I mentioned before, the process of rooting your phone (more specifically, the process of unlocking your bootloader) most likely deleted files from your system partition that need to be in place in order for the OTA updates to install. If they are not there, the update will fail. So to answer your question...No, I don't recommend "just flash the update as opposed to going back to stock recovery". It won't work.
Since you didn't answer my question and state which RUU you tried, I don't know if you tried a bad 4.4.2 RUU or if there are other issues with your device and/or computer that's preventing any RUU from installing. If you just don't want to flash the RUU, then you can try flashing the update in the phone's current state and when it fails, you can analyze the error report, try to track down stock versions of the files you're missing and restore them if you find them, then try the update again, hoping you found everything. That's a lot more of a hassle than just flashing the RUU, flashing the updates, rooting, and setting up your phone.
Another option is to just flash a custom ROM. Most of them will bring the phone up to the latest version. Some will even take it higher than what is officially available from AT&T.
As for your camera problem, can't see how just rooting would cause that, but maybe it did. Without knowing the cause of the issue, I can't say if just flashing the OTA would fix it. If it's a software issue, then possibly it would. If it's a hardware issue, then probably not. Focus on updating the phone and worry about the camera issue if it still persists once updated.
Sorry, I forgot about your question. First of all, I got it working using RUU Zip M7 UL JB43 SENSE50 MR Cingular US 3.17.502.3-decrypted. The one that didn't work for me is RUU Zip M7 UL JB 50 Cingular - 1.26.502.12. Second, I am running 4.4.2. Thats for anyone who comes across this and was wondering. Thanks for your help sharksfan7. Also, in case you were wondering, my camera is still blurry, but I'll start a different thread for that.
After two days of searching I'm sucking it up and just asking you guys...
I have s-off but my bootloader is locked. I tried the one click superCID method and it outputs 111111 but its still locked when I try to flash a recovery.
I tried to use rumrunner even though its 2.xx because it worked for someone else and it said I needed root first...
My phone won't bug me to update OTA to get to 2.xx but think that might be a good thing... please help. My ultimate goal is to flash NuSenseSix
Day 3 still no luck...
I've tried the SuperCID method found on this thread

You do not state your software version, I suggest you try Sunshine. It may or may not work.

If you are s off you can unlock using an adb command. Also, you need an ruu mode twrp.
I can help you flash a custom recovery and update your firmware using team viewer
