[Q] Is my phone rooted? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I thought I rooted my phone - process seem to work OK and Superuser appeared in the apps list
Dragged a new Rom zip file onto my phone
Pressed: Power + Vol+ + Vol-
Screen just goes pink?
Should it come up with a menu?

Give some more info pls, like which phone you are using and you did to it.

Simply rooting will not allow you to flash a rom, you also need to have an unlocked bootloader.

Can't get into downloading mode

I had rooted my Tab and put CWM recovery on it. But then the TouchWiz update wasn't installing, so I unroot by flashing the OTA, then used Odin to go back to stock recovery. Now I can't even get into downloading mode. I hold the power and Vol down, it pops up for a split second, then goes away and reboots. Anybody got any suggestions?

As soon as you it pops up, let go the power button and volume down key. Then use the volume up key for download mode.

[Q] Phone stuck on recovery screen

I just switched my phone on this morning (Samsung Galaxy Fit) and it went straight onto the Android system recovery screen and it keeps going to that when I press the power on/off or take the battery out and back in.
Looks like this:
Android system recovery
Samsung Recovery Utils for BML (used to come up but not anymore)
(in blue)
reboot system now
apply update from sdcard
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
test redbend fotal[FS]
(in yellow)
--Applying Multi-CSC --
multicsc : opera mini[li] reset
Applied the CSC-code 'XE'.
I can use the volume up/down keys to move down the list of options (in blue) but can't actually select anything - enter/ok key doesn't work, or anything else. Can anyone help? I've had a quick look on the Internet and tried using Odin but that doesn't seem to be helping. I can't seem to access anything.
Can you get into download mode? (Press middle Key ( Home key ) + Power + Volume Down)

Try pressing home when you're on the reboot option.
Or for download mode, remove battery, hold both volume buttons and plug in USB.

Well, everyone appears to go fine on Odin, the 'pass' notice comes up. However my phone just returns to the Android system recovery screen and I still can't select anything.

[Q] Booting into Recovery

ok i just got an atrix and im aa bit uncertain about booting into CWM. i know on other phones ive had, i had to boot up with volume down and power. i tried that and nothing works, boots up like normal. tried volume up and power to. my bootloader should be unlocked, the boot screen that says motorola dual core says unlocked in the corner. CWM is installed, i flashed gapps, cuz the person i got it from forgot to put them on. any idea on how i can fix this?
(Download Rom Manager & install the cwm from itif your cwm is not working?)
Power + volume down takes you to the options, there you need to scroll down (with volume down) and use volume up for choosing android recovery.

Strange.. Are you keeping volume down pressed until you would have seen the options, you're not letting go before that or so? Is the volume rocker still functioning ok?
Otherwise just try quick boot from the market.

im holding it in until i see the logo, and yes the rocker is working properly. and i know i can boot into recovery by other means while the phone is on but what if i get a bootloop. i wouldnt be able to fix it, unless i had a computer with me so i could use adb to enter recovery

Hold power and volume down, keep holding volume down until you see the word fastboot appear. Then press the volume down button (7 times I think), until you see android recovery, then press the volume up button.
That should do it!

I never see it say fastboot, it just says unlocked up in the corner. All the time, when I'm not even trying to boot to recovery. I'm assuming that means the bootloader iis unlocked. But I do exactly what you guys are saying and I never see fastboot or anything like that

Something must have gotten messed up when you flashed a rom.. I'd say try flashing a fruitcake and start from there.

i dont know what happened but it just started working. i flashed darkside and wanted to try aura.but to download a rom via rom manager it makes you reflash reg. cwm, so i reboot into recovery after its flashed and reflash romracer cwm, and then reboot and flash aura. then i think hey ill try 1 more time and it works now. thanks for all of your help

GS2 wont boot passed recovery

Hi guys,
Late last year i sold my GS2 to a guy at work. Rooted and with a custom ROM installed (Cognition V1.5.1 - yes i know its old but its not my phone )
I've attempted to install RC1 for CM9 this morning however, I'm falling at the first hurdle. I've booted into Clockwork recovery (4.0.0.2). The menu buttons work fine i.e, up/down and power as enter but when i select anything it goes to a black screen with the ROM Manager logo on it (the gog and the hat) - but no options.
Do i need to install a newer version of Clockwork on the device? If i do whats the best way to do it? Do i use ROM Manager to update it as i cant access any of the menus in recovery (other than the top menu)
I've not seen this problem before as normally people are kept in boot loops or cant get passed a splash screen.
EDIT - i've just managed to get the phone to boot and its now running as normal. I'm just concerned that if i go back into recovery i might not get it back up again.
Many thanks

You're pressing the wrong button lol... use the power button to confirm and the volume buttons to move up and down. The home button does nothing.

[q] please help with boot loop

I'm new to rooting and recently rooted my lg p769 , for the last 2 days i customized my launcher, added mods and themes. today i was deleting things i didn't need using the rootappdelete app and i accidentally deleted a .lge file immediately afterwards a few error boxes popped up and it rebooted and now will not go past my nyan cat boot animation , i tried the (vol down, menu, power button) combo to bring up recovery but the droid icon appears with a load bar then disappear and returns to the nyan cat boot animation which keep going without actually booting up the device , what should i do?

Place the phone in upgrade mode and use the offline flash. But if you made cwm backup then just flash that.

You'll need to turn off the phone. Then while holding volume up, plug in the phone to the computer. Upgrade mode should pop up.
