Need help regarding custom ROM - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I am using Lewa Rom v13.06.07 on my Jiayu G3 android phone and am very happy with it. The best thing I have seen. However, there is one thing that needs fixing. When I use Viber and exit from it by pressing home button everything still works but if I close it by "sliding" it as you normally close all non running apps it stops and you get no calls or notifications. This is also true for some other apps like HD Widgets (the clock stops updating) and so on.
I believe these issues are caused by built-in task killer which stops all "unnecessary" processes.
So, I wonder if there is some way to set the rules which process will still run in the background or solve this issue in some other way.
I know I'll get advice, use some other ROM, but this one is the one I like and would like to get a fix for it.
Thank you.

May be a bug in the $ROM$, or kernel, have you tried flashing a replacement kernel "for your specific device". Also , if you like it, and you want to keep it on the phone, try to revert to a nandroid, then reflash the $ROM$. Or search for an update to the $ROM$.

I really do like it. Don't know where to find and how to flash replacement kernel. I do hope that there will be un update soon. I would even write to "Leva team" about the problem if I knew whom to address. :crying:
Thank you.

Well what I would do is find out from the settings area on my phone the model, model number of my phone. then i would , go to "google" (my best friend). and I type something like. <device name><model #> custom kernel <name of rom>, then if that dont work, go with same search topic and use it at github. Everything you need is laying dormant on the internet.. If you really like the rom, check out a good kernel tutorial and build one ..

Froyo for NIKE - Incubus26Jc's Super FroYo 2.2 [Deodexed] [RLS13] [8/18/10]

Hello guys, want to have Froyo on your device? i've been testing and amzingly it run on Nike. Although there is a few bug just like the other android for Nike, but at least you can try the FROYO.
Here is what you need to do:
1a. If you haven't try Android before download attached andboot.zip, extract it to your SD card root.
1b. If you already have android build on your device, you can run copy androidinstall you've downloaded to andboot folder than do reinstall your android through haret. Remember to backup before doing anything.
2. Download androidinstall from the original thread Incubus26Jc's Super FroYo 2.2 [Deodexed] [RLS13] [8/18/10]
3. Backup! than, clear whatever "android" stuff you have from sdcard (I dont want it to get caught up in the install) especially your andboot folder
4. Extract contents of downloaded zip to temporary directory
5. Copy extracted /andboot folder to the ROOT of your SDCard
6. copy zimage to /andboot folder with this version (credit to mblaster) get in from http://84.23.71.227/kerneloftheday (i'm using zimage with vibration on my nike100 with zimageNike name) or you can use attached one - the newest from mblaster with audio fix (remember to extract the zip ).
7. overwrite default.txt with attached default.txt
8. Run HaRET, than hit “run” to launch android
9. Press and hold center of dpad after hitting "run" and follow the directions in the NoMoRootFs menu system
10. Install android system
11. Quit installer
12. Booting into Android
13. After you can see android logo wait about 15 minute
14. then shutdown and open up your phone again (should boot into winmo)
15. start haret and boot again to android
16. your android is ready to use
Working: Call, sms, ring, data (listed apn)
Not Working: Bluetooth, camera
Bug: Very difficult to receive call (maybe kernel problem???)
LEt us ask dzo (kernel inventor for vogue) to make update for Nike kernel to get all that stuff working
EDIT: thread author change it name, so i'll follow that too
UPDATE: I'm using dzo odex version from androidhtc
Very good post!
Whats wrong exactly with receiving calls?
I dont believe BT/Camera will work on any Android ROM for nike. This problem come from months since the first release, and never. So, or we buy a really android smartphone or we change for vogue
Installing RLS4 + Kernel with vibration 03 June.
EDIT: Now I understand. Receiving calls dont work, its like we have phone turned off. Data connections work (...) Its not fast and ADW Launcher crashs often (or we have to "wait" many times). 2.1 Much faster. Also, screen its very not aligned (sorry, dont know the right word). Many times if I want to press a widget I have to point to the another one on left (annoying using keyboard). Still the same issue with hardware button 1. Three times pressing this key, and my screen goes black. Sometimes, I have ADW Launcher, go to setting, go back, and then I have laucher PRO.
Its a cool ROM, but I think useless for now. Lets hope anyone can solve the problems.
Thank you.
yes, useless if our phone can't receive call, so we'll have to waiting for that, hope someone can solve it?
just contact dzo, he don't have time for maintaining a kernel for Nike. he want someone else to do that.
do you know someone who have some knowledge in C and a linux box to compile the kernel?

I know a lot of people, but no one with a nike. I know some C and linux, but I never programmed a kernel, however I can take a look. Where is the source code? Just found for vogue.

Check my kernel thread. You will find the diffs (basically text files that show changes in source) to the vogue kernel source on my download page.
yes, maxxxd01 please co-operate with mblaster, both of you is our hope for nike kernel. at least for now. thanks. keep up good work.
new zimage from mblaster works for audio, and no touch screen problems on mine, receiving call is also working for me using froyo - at least for now , still testing it -
here is what i did:
1. update newest kernel using mblaster kernel with audio bug free from new zimage from mblaster works for audio, and no touch screen problems on mine, receiving call is also working for me using froyo - at least for now , still testing it -
here is what i did:
1. update newest kernel using mblaster kernel with audio bug free from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7021840&postcount=3
2. using phone prioritizer from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=558822
maybe you guyz can try it
OK, I know it is the third time I am posting this, but I don't want you to miss this...
Kernel service up again with audio patch included. Hope verything works now. Niki100 version is also patched now, touchscreen problems seem to be vibration related on niki100 (thats why there is a vibration free version especially for theat phone).
http://84.23.71.227/kerneloftheday/
PS: Let me know if everything is fine now.
looks like this newest build doesn't need any phone prioritizer anymore, it just ring as it should be, so no more receiving call lag.

I dont think I can help, mblaster works much faster
I'm confused, receiving calls problem solved. But, for kernel with or without vib?
I did not fix the call recieve bug, but I suspect it not to be in the kernel anyway. Android has a very greedy memory management, which tends to kill the phone app from time to time. On my G1 I have similar problems with some ROMs.
Perhaps it was just fixed in R5 of the ROM?
BTW: Any help is appreciated
Booting Froyo on my nike for the first time. Nice CM5 Bootanimation
wow, that mean receiving call problem is related to ROM, should thank dzo for that,
mblaster, yesterday i try to use newest kernel but it seems like sometimes it makes my touch screen not responding (i'm using zimage with vibration), then i revert back to zimage_audiotest, and still haven't find the same bug. anything wrong?
about the audio, it seems like a little larger, maybe can lower it a little thanks.
now yeah! I'm getting anxious, why now in an android niki100 (20 keys) is not just a toy is almost functional.
God bless you Mblaster, dzo you are almost there !!!!!
Vibration and camera are not so important for now, at least for me .. like the headphones because I walk a lot, but I will not ask more for it.
I think that Froio is more functional, but it seems late in the touch screen sometimes, or locking out of memory, not sure, but one question, where do I set the swap Froio? seems to me that with the eclair made work faster, Froio am running with EXT2.
Thanks!
Hey guys. I'm trying to use Android on my HTC Touch Dual.
It runs ok, and it is fast now using the froyo. But I got a problem that I don't understand...
I boot up on Android and I have sound. I then make a call and I can hear it well... I end that call and after that I can't get anymore sounds from the system... If I make a new call I can't hear anything from the other side...
Please help....
Could it be the radio version I'm using!?
Thanks.
I ask, the system did not contain Chinese, where I can download it?

Thanks for the reply.
Sorry about asking this but I need to HardSPL my device to do that?
I saw a post saying this:
"Note: The USPL is not a "HardSPL" which means it gets overwritten when you flash a full ROM. You have to run the SSPL if you want to flash any ROM again.
The HardSPL is never overwritten which in case of flashing trouble is a great insurance. Should you want to flash another SPL or USPL you must run the SSPL."
Can I use the SSPL method instead? It seem's less dangerous...
I've never did this so sorry about the question.
Thanks man.
do you never flash custom ROM to your Nike?if you never flash you should read the tutorial in the sticky before doing anything further to prevent error on your nike. there are a lot of tutorial to doing that
Ok. Thanks a lot.
I already flash other devices but not this one... anyway I will read the tutorials.
EDIT: Thanks a lot youngsien. I already flashed the Radio you indicated and now I can make calls ok in android.

[Q] System UIDs Inconsistent... Please Help

I get this message when I boot up.
I cannot access settings so I cannot perform a factory reset.
Is there any way to factory reset when you cannot access "Settings" because of constant force closes.
I am running stock but with lots of side-loaded apps.
I can access the file explorer. That is the only thing I can open that will remain open even though I get constant force close popups like "android.process.acore has stopped... android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly...
Is my gtab toast? Can it be saved or should I return it?
I get this all the time, with all the mods I do. Don't worry, your system is fixable.
For me, I use clockworkmod recovery .08. There's a "fix permissions" option and this always fixes the problem for me. It also allows a data wipe within recovery.
If you are 100% stock, you could try one of the stock ROM's here as well - that might get you working. You have a few options, here. Check out the FAQ in my signature. I'm actually posting up the new stock update that I pulled from TnT, today.
EDIT: Direct link the the stock ROM updates -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842000. You'd need to understand how to actually run these, which I mention in the FAQ section.
thx Roebeet, I was able to update to the new stock rom.
But I still have the same problem. Is there any other way to wipe my data. Can it be done while connected by usb or do i have to root it?
Is there any hardware button method to do a factory reset?
I still cannot open settings... it gets canceled by the force closes.
I am ready to give upon my G-Tab which I was enjoying so much.
Does anyone know how to wipe the date if you cannot open settings???
Try clockworkmod - it really is a great tool. You can find it in the Tnt Lite dev section as I have a link for .08.
For UID issues, "fix permissions" will correct it. And you can wipe data via clockworkmod as well. You can even remove it by flashing back to stock -- the latest stock firmware works as I've done it myself, the other day.
Btw, there are so many threads here that I sometimes miss replying. I dont ignore, I just might miss a post. Always feel free to PM me if you have a question.
I had a similar issue where something got corrupted in my user data and I was completely unable to start the settings or open the keyboard. I had to flash back to the full vanilla ROM because it contained clockworkmod, which was the only option available to accomplish a factory reset. That wasn't a fun day.
Think I figured out a key reason for sudden UID issues
People including me are getting UID errors even after having a stable rom and several reboots with no issues. Based on guinea piggin' my G, I can confirm the issues happen on apparently stable installs anytime you update a Google app.
Case in point, I updated Google Voice and Gmail and soon after I rebooted the G- UID city. I have started with a clean rom and installed many different apps to test. The only apps that hose the device at reboot are the GAPPS and it is not just if you update with the package. Simply updating from market will work fine, until you reboot and then it is a few minutes for trying to shut the device down and then perhaps two reboot attempts using fixed permissions.
TnT 2.20 (at least) does NOT like GAPP updates. How could VS bork this up so bad that fundamental apps for Android bork the device?
Again, the Tap UI team and who hired them and approved it on the Gtablet should be fired, rehired for a minute and then fired for good. Word.
This sounds kind of "preachy," but don't give up.
There is a learning curve to the G-Tablet, and it takes a good bit of reading on this site and assimilating the info.
I will testify that I had a hugely bad malfunction and and even worse fix on my tablet.
Using suggestions from helpful folk -- and carefully researching what I needed to do -- I was able to get my tablet back working just fine. To be sure, it's not stock any more!!! But I actually believe that with all I learned about flashing, mods, etc., I now could go back and make it stock again if I wanted to.
Don't give up. Just keep reading and researching the learning.

Not true for me, I installed the new Gmail from the Market with no problems. I am on TNTLite 2.2.1.
Google Voice has always been a hack for a tablet, since it is not actually phone. You might want to pull it out and see if your issues are solved.
I am back up and running thanks to clockwordmod. Thanks again!

Good to hear and thanks for the update!
I am currently having this problem. I am hoping to sell my 10" Android 2.2 Tablet PC on Craigslist... I need to fix this Error... I've only used it 10 times to play Angry Birds. The forum with the links I am confused as to what one to use... I am younger I must say. I am not a 21 year old "computer whiz"/.NET/OS maker... I do make websites. Besides that... I do not know how to "Wipe my system partition" as my Error message says to. Especially due to the fact I cannot open Settings. PLEASE HELP. I may have repeated things said above in his problems but I would like a "NOOB" walk through... (Because I am one). Please help. Thanks in advance. -Sophomoric
Hey, I had a same after my phone battery was empty and it turned off. I kept it off and recharged it, then I had the feeling "I'm feeling Lucky" -.-' so nice from google. xD
Had to wipe everything then full reinstall... such a pain.
Probably the cleanest solution HERE

Moving Good for Enterprise app between roms w/o activating each time

Hi all.
Was wondering if anyone had any experience moving Good for Enterprise around from rom to rom?
I have a Galaxy Nexus (Verizon) and was looking to test out Jelly Bean, or at least move to the stock image once available.
Problem is with Good for Enterprise..it's no longer hosted by my company and as an IT admin I used to be able to root, rom, reset my activation pin, etc.
Currently the parent company has a 1 and done activation (very annoying); so if I flash I have to wait for another activation and I think one day they'll just WTF is with this guy?
Anyhow, was wondering if I were to take a backup of it and all its glory with Titanium backup, move to another rom and restore it, would it allow me to preserve my activation? I sort of tried it once, but it would never get any new email upon restore, so I was wondering if its really possible or if I am out of luck there?

You can easily move from rom to rom and keep the activation, you just need to put good in offline mode, quit, backup with TiBu, and then restore it while still in offline mode. once you put it back, you're good to go (this assumes that you can restore app data - which, always having root access myself, I don't know whether is possible without root).

same answer as above. you can do this EASILY as long as you can restore app data - just make sure to be in offline mode, quit the app, back it up, and then restore while still offline mode. e-mails will continue to flow if you do it this way (but, as you point out, not otherwise)

i know you can freeze it , flash the JB rom. play around and restore it back and still get emails.. I am more looking to to leave it on JB permanently and still get the emails. I have come to understand good checks for root access and files such as supersu and busy box. If I were to install the rom, unroot and then restore good I think it would detect root since virtually every toro JB rom requires root to work and has it built into the rom =\

You aren't listening. I'm not talking about freezing it. I'm talking about going offline in the good app...
Then back it up, and restore it to whatever rom you like. You just need to be able to restore app data, which may require root. If you unroot and the rom still works, no reason good shouldn't.
Thanks lordloki77! I've always gotta pester the guy who can issue PINs every time I flash a ROM. Hopefully this all works and I won't have to do it any more. I had thought it was something to do with the Android device ID, which I was able to backup/restore in TB, but that didn't work either.

Once you activate then go off line on the app, you can flash the rom and restore the app. does it continue to work beyond that? I have heard that GOOD periodically checks for a modified build prop, supersu and several other indicators that you have flashed a custom rom or have rooted and will kick you off once it does. I am looking for a permanent solution, not one that will work for a few days while i try a rom then flash back to stock. I don't think it is possible.

I can't answer your question except to say that I'm on a custom rom, custom kernel, and have superuser installed and Good is still receiving emails. It's only been a day, and I haven't changed roms yet since, but that's all I can report.
I dunno why Good gives a crap about whether we're rooted or have a custom rom, and even if it does, it should tell you somewhere instead of just not sending/receiving any more. It appears to work, but with no new messages. As I'm going on a business trip next week, I definitely don't want to mess with Good since I'll absolutely need email access. I'll probably try to restore to a new rom after I return.

Wondering if anyone has Verizon and does NOT have an enterprise data plan to get Good to synch.
I had an iphone with Good on Verizon and just had my normal data plan - everything synced fine.

I know this is a very old thread, but in case anyone is interested, you do not need an enterprise data plan to use Good on Verizon. My organization originally told me that I needed to sign up for enterprise data, but they were wrong.
Anyone able to move good to a different device without reactivation? I've tried moving my TiBu backups and it appears that Good is looking for the specific model or device id..

[Q] Flash Player Issue

I need some help. I have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player (Version 11.1.115.69) installed on my stock (rooted/unlocked) Verizon Note 2.
On some videos (that are not a mobile version or through the video player) I get this issue where the sound works fine, but the video is completely messed up. It looks like a bunch of colored lines. The lines move as the video goes along. I don't know what to make of it because it only happens on some videos. Also, this has happened with every version of Flash that I have ever tried (which is all of them, as far as I know) with this device. Anyone else have this problem? In any case, can someone on a stock Verizon Note 2 please go to the page below and try and watch the movie? The lines problem has happened every time I have gone to that page and tried to watch the movie, both on the stock browser and with Dolphin Browser. I attached a screenshot of what happens below.
http://viooz.co/movies/19479-monster...sity-2013.html
Any help regarding how to fix this would be most appreciated!
By the way, that movie is an excellent sequel to the first Monsters Inc. and I recommend it.
(And there is no need to freak out about not paying to watch the movie; I am planning to purchase it for my Nephew in the near future.)

The lines problem has happened every time I have gone to that page and tried to watch the movie, both on the stock browser and with Dolphin Browser. I attached a screenshot of what happens below.

Any help regarding how to fix this would be most appreciated!
By the way, that movie is an excellent sequel to the first Monsters Inc. and I recommend it.
(And there is no need to freak out about not paying to watch the movie; I am planning to purchase it for my Nephew in the near future.)

I would venture to say that the problem is the site not flash. So far I haven't run across this problem. Try clean wiping and re-flashing. Also what stock rooted ROM are you running?
Hey. Most likely if you are running stock verizon bloated touchwiz, verizon likes to include a file/apk that is hidden that blocks flash player. To get rid of this you generally have to be rooted. After rooted you can either install a custom rom (any will do) OR if you want to stay stock you can use titanium back up and browse through your list off applications. You will noticed a "flash disable" application in red or something like that. Selected it and uninstall it. Once you do that you should have the flash player working properly.

It has happened to me on far too many sites for it to be their fault. I am on 4.1.1 I605VRALJB. I haven't updated my phone since I bought it in December (bad experiences with updates from Motorola). While this problem is frustrating, I don't think I want to wipe my phone just yet.

Hey!
There are two apps that have the world flash in them. I froze them both with My backup Pro and it didn't fix it. Any idea what the name would be if it didn't have the world flash in it?

What are the names of the apps? you might have frozen the app that runs flash which you want, and then youll have also frozen the app that blocks flash, so over all do you have no flash? (I dont know exacly im just speculating now from what ive read youve done)
edit: maybe try some simple things first, use yet another browser, such as nakedbrowser- its fast and flash works great in it. i would say maybe try unistalling then reinstalling flash, to a newer version http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2190346 i forget its not on playstore anymore. mines currently at 11.1.115.48

The names of the apps are:
com.sec.android.app.FlashBarService (v1.0)
and
FlashAnnotate (v0.8.6) and FlashAnnotateSvc (v0.8.4)
I tried that browser and it still had the problem, both with that version of Flash and the newest one. I think I'll need to re-flash eventually.. I was hoping to avoid it.

Yeah, I unfroze them when it didn't work. I'm on the newest version. 11.1.115.69
Do you know of any glitches/problems with the 4.1.2 update? Is it worth updating to?

yeah ok well thats where my knowledge really ends as to what might be happening.
I understand your hesitation, but if flash is a thing you really want then that alone could be a reason to update. I have not had or seen any instability, or experienced any glitchyness myself and I have also only stuck to the touchwiz roms (simply personal preference). 4.1.2 on this device, well there isnt anything to fear, no getting burned here. lots o great roms to check out.
edit: oh and one last word if you want to stay as you are. did you try the 115.48 flash version?

Yeah, I have not had good luck with updates. I did try that version just now (and several other versions before now).
4.1.2 has been unlocked and rooted, but is it possible to get back to 4.1.1?
Thank you for trying to help! Really appreciate it!

ok I havent really worried about flash i guess on the custom roms there must be some libraries or plugins or something to have flash fully functional.
Make a full nandroid back up of what your on now. Im not 100% positive but if you want you can then just flash back to 4.1.1. Make sure you restore with the same version of the custom recovery you backed up with if you want to go baack.
You should probably also search that question. I believe it has been answered several times. I might have seen it in passing.

Right, because the backup backups the OS as well as your phone memory. That has always boggled my mind. So I could just restore that and be good.
One last question: When installing this update, I probably don't want to be unlocked, right? I know I can temporarily unroot so no problem there.

yes your nandoid will save the image of your system and data(if thats what you mean by phone memory) so youll restore you to that state.
no if your bootloader unlocked and all that, leave it. I recommend looking over droidstyle guide too, i usually do every now and again just to refresh my mind. You can simply flash a stock 4.1.2 rom check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2387635 so look for one that is basically untouched except for being rooted and unlocked still. You can also try out any 4.1.2 rom too
Nah, jumping between threads is fun!
But seriously, is it completely necessary to factory reset before flashing that?

Yup. Sorry for late resposnse. So um id suggest if you havent don anything yet. Update to latest recovery proabaly twrp since 8ts easy to use and it seems to be the most versatile (but some customs roms prefer clockwork) then back up efs modem boot system data for a full image of your 4.1.1 so you can be fully backed up. Then do the factory data reset wipe cache and dalvik in recovery after. Af6er wipe then flash rom.
Since you are rooted, you can download the latest version of flash and run it from the stock browser. Chrome has issues with it. I prefer the stock browser as it does exactly what Chrome does but with flash support. And I would suggest atleast upgrading to a 4.1.2 rom. There were alot of bug fixes between the 2.
I'm pleased to report that I flashed that 4.1.2 ROM and the flash player issue is gone.
I was pleasantly surprised to see my sdcard0 remain untouched after I wiped data from custom recovery.

Flash Player Issue
I think the problem lies with the website. Viooz.co is full of malwares and other viruses. I hate those pop up ads which just pop out on just one click.
There are many websites which you can rely upon :

[Q][CM11][Xperia M] Phone won't wake up after screen locking

Cheers, XDA colleagues
In first place, I want to apologize in advance for English mistakes, because I have only a basic knowledge in that language and I'm typing it all at the end of the night, here. So, I'm somewhat oblitered by the sleepless time I spent diagnosing and trying to fix some problems I had while flashing CM11 to my Xperia M device.
Well, due to some mistakes when installing GApps (I didn't want to be all-connected to Google), I have formated and reinstalled the system at least four times. Now, at the fourth time, I had everything more ou less setted up the way I wanted. Had some commonplace apps -- like WhatsApp -- installed, some UI features customized. At this point, I tought "Uff... Now it's all done".
However, it wasn't. Actually, I'm running into a bizarre problem with sleep mode, a few time after being locked. When my phone enters it, it won't exit. To make things a bit more clear: it dies, and in a way that's necessary remove battery and put it back on to turn it on again.
I'd check syslog and dmesg, but I don't know where are them at the Android filesystem (in fact, I haven't used *nix in a couple of years). So, I'm relying to my dear colleagues of these forums, if they have a clue on what's going on.
I'm using FXP330 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2584956).
Thank you very much!
Att.,
P. Pinheiro

Hi, Ambychy, thanks for the reply!
Yeah, it's actually what I ended up doing. Now it's working with no interruptions. Shame I'll need to reflash it because it had no GSM signal, and to make it work it's necessary reflash stock 4.3, and have 4.3 baseband flashed. So, for all effects, the subject of this thread were solved.
But it's what CyanogemMod about: it's a geek way and you'll run into some problems, but in the end everything got be working fine and in highly costumizable way.
Cheers
No problem mate we all gotta help each other
