Cheers, XDA colleagues
In first place, I want to apologize in advance for English mistakes, because I have only a basic knowledge in that language and I'm typing it all at the end of the night, here. So, I'm somewhat oblitered by the sleepless time I spent diagnosing and trying to fix some problems I had while flashing CM11 to my Xperia M device.
Well, due to some mistakes when installing GApps (I didn't want to be all-connected to Google), I have formated and reinstalled the system at least four times. Now, at the fourth time, I had everything more ou less setted up the way I wanted. Had some commonplace apps -- like WhatsApp -- installed, some UI features customized. At this point, I tought "Uff... Now it's all done".
However, it wasn't. Actually, I'm running into a bizarre problem with sleep mode, a few time after being locked. When my phone enters it, it won't exit. To make things a bit more clear: it dies, and in a way that's necessary remove battery and put it back on to turn it on again.
I'd check syslog and dmesg, but I don't know where are them at the Android filesystem (in fact, I haven't used *nix in a couple of years). So, I'm relying to my dear colleagues of these forums, if they have a clue on what's going on.
I'm using FXP330 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2584956).
Thank you very much!
Att.,
P. Pinheiro

Hi, Ambychy, thanks for the reply!
Yeah, it's actually what I ended up doing. Now it's working with no interruptions. Shame I'll need to reflash it because it had no GSM signal, and to make it work it's necessary reflash stock 4.3, and have 4.3 baseband flashed. So, for all effects, the subject of this thread were solved.
But it's what CyanogemMod about: it's a geek way and you'll run into some problems, but in the end everything got be working fine and in highly costumizable way.
Cheers
No problem mate we all gotta help each other

I must have done it wrong (I didn't understand it that well if i am honest!) now I cannot even send sms, never mind mms , i am gonna do a fresh install, this time remembering to make a back up but i guess it wont work again so will need guiding through it.

Sorry, this is not what you want to hear but ...
... next time use SMS Backup & Restore app from Play store before flashing a new ROM or wiping your data.
That's the way you should process everytime.
Before wiping or flashing, backup everything you don't want to lose.

My immediate issue is i have buggered up phone, tried a re installation of rom to try and fix issue but to no avail, i have tried my sim card in another phone and it does not send texts from this even. Have i knackered my sim card?

i dont think that has happened cuz of the custom rom installation... jus call customer care and get the issue resolved. mostly u will need to configure MMS settings & Message Center Number(for SMS).

You won't have buggered up your SIM card - very VERY unlikely you will have done any hard damage by installing a custom ROM!
What you probably will have done is messed up your mobile internet/MMS APN settings. It's a major issue in any custom ROMs - mainly the ones that are CM based or anything non Samsung ROM based. I was having major problems with it - i use SlimBean on my S2 with Dorimanx kernel. It always fails, but after i deleted all the access points completely and then created the 2 ones specific to my network (o2), and then cleared all the App Data for messaging (very important otherwise it will still fail), all works great. By App data i mean going into the settings menu, and then into Apps, find the Messaging app, then you will see an option to Clear Cache/Clear Data. do this then force stop (NOT disable). This will ensure all works nicely.
I tried all the info on the web for setting up the APNs, none seemed to work properly - in the end i put an original Samsung ROM on, then noted down all the settings for the working APNs; then re-flashed the custom ROM, and deleted old APNs and created two new ones based on my noted settings.
Using custom ROMs is always a challenge as most people have different things installed in different ways. it's a steep learning curve, but satisfying when it works - I now find that if i try a proper Sammy ROM I end up going back to the custom ones in a day or less as they are better
Hey everyone,
I have this problem along time already, which when I dail then I can't hear any dial tone
and when the other side answer's we can't hear each other.
I have tried so many solutions such as changing a cell company and changing modems: NEUGND1, JKUGNB2
When I'm really really lucky I am succeeding to make a call, but this situation is really annoying.
Any ideas ?
Flash the full stock firmware for your country with Odin then factory reset, if still the same then you have a hardware issue.

I'm almost sure that it's not a hardware issue since it started to happen only when I flashed the cw11 room.. Is there any other way to check this problem?

The only way to be 100% sure is to change rom or flash to stock so that you can rule out software issue.Just make a nandroid backup of your current rom then flash back to stock you can do all that in less than 20 minutes
Hey everyone,
On one of my phone restarts some how it took more then a regular restart (the time that takes a phone to start from a new flash)
SO after couple of minutes the phone booted up clean, with everything erased! luckily for me Google saves most of the information
on the cloud so most of my stuff were restored (made me make the backups of stuff in more often time)
The weird thing is that suddenly I can make calls without any problems (what a mystery ha ?)
And now I'm afraid to make any upgrade to a newer CM snapshot version haha. (even though I can make a nano backup and try it out)
Thanks for the help !
Hello everyone,
I am a complete noob and hopefully you guys can help me out. I have tried to wrap my head around all the new android terms and my head is spinning. Anyways, I was given a HTC Sensation 4G Z710a on the Bell network. I registered on the htcdev to unlock the bootloader and following the steps, I fail to get the token. I have tried on two PC's and my friend tried on his MAC. My friend thinks the reason it fails is because the phones software is not up to date. Is it possible that it cannot get the token because the software is out of date? We tried to update the software and it fails. The problem looks like it is due to the installation of a clockworkmod. I have tried using the factory reset and the the cwm to do a factory reset and nothing has changed. Other than this, it looks like the phone has S-OFF and is not rooted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind of hard for us to tell you if the issue is the software update, when you haven't told us which update it's on. However, since the phone has already been modded, and is S-Off, that means the bootloader is already unlocked so using the HTCdev website is not needed. You can just update via a custom rom since you already have CWM.

Thank you for your reply with the good news. This is probably irrelevant now that you said i can update via a custom rom. Under software information: Android Version; 2.3.3, HTC Sense Version; 3.0, Software Number 1.35.666.1.
It looks like now I need to research how to update via a custom rom and which rom to get. (Update. I looked into flashing a ruu and my cid is SuperCID 11111111. As long as I find a ruu that is Pyramid TMOUS, it should be good?) I am exited to be getting rid of my junky iphone. Do you have any suggestions as to what rom to get??

I would upgrade the phone to ICS via the RUU. I suggest this for 2 reasons - 1) so you can have the newest update and firmware as just flashing an ICS rom by itself will not be a good idea as you will have issues with the touch sensors and radios (touch screen won't respond and signal issues) and 2) so you can have experience on how to put the phone back to stock in case there's an issue during flashing a rom, or you need to resell it. Once you have the RUU and know it works, then flashing roms will be much less scary as there aren't many things you can do that would not be fixable by it. You can get away with just flashing the rom and the firmware as well, but I speak with many years of experience and 100s of phones under my belt, and I know that whenever I play with a new phone, I learn how to fix it first before I learn how to mod it.
As far as suggestions, I would start with something simple and solid like Android Revolution HD. See what you like and dislike and go from there.

Here is another update, and I am not sure if you can help. I thought everything was fine with the install, but it seems like my mobile network is not working. I followed all the steps from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098849 except I used Clockwork Mod instead of 4EXT Touch Recovery. I looked through all the related settings and even tried changing them, rebooting and seeing if it made any changes. I also even followed the steps a second time and got the same result.

Is it just data or are you unable to make calls and texts as well? If it's just data, then most likely it is an issue with the Bell APN needing set correctly. If you don't get a signal or any connection to the cell towers, then you might not have the right firmware or radio. Did you update to the last update HTC put out for it?

I have been getting around 12 hours out of my battery with not too much use on the phone. I am running the SebastionFM Kernel. I read that I will get better battery life on the Bricked Kernel. Can you tell me if that is the way to go? I am trying to dl the kernel to flash it, but I am not sure which file to download. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1256668. Also, when I flash the Kernel, Is it pretty straight forward or are there settings that I would need to choose.
Thanks again.

Depends on which rom you are using... The developer of the kernel mentioned near the end of the thread that his kernels are a little outdated for the newer Sense roms that are out there, so you might need to proceed with caution. Whenever you are flashing kernels, you should both make sure you have things backed up somewhere safe (Google, your PC, etc) as well as make a nandroid backup in recovery before flashing. It's typically recommended to wipe the cache and dalvik cache before installing new kernels (since you are S-Off, S-On users need a slightly different path to upgrade...). You might look into why your battery life is not as good as it could be in it's current configuration first before changing major components such as the kernel. Look into Greenify to hibernate apps while the screen is off and something like GSam Battery Monitor or Better Battery Stats or Wakelock Detector to break down the battery stats and wakelocks as those typically cause the biggest loss of battery life.

I think it is my battery. I picked up an Anker and the phone is now at 20% after 21hrs. Is there a way to get Emoji to work on my phone? When people SMS me, on the lock screen they show up as a question mark in a box but when i go to read the text message there is nothing there.
Using a different keyboard will let you send Emojis, but not really sure about enabling the view from other people's messages off the top of my head, sorry. I recommend SwiftKey for a great keyboard replacement with lots of built in Emojis.

Man thanks so much for doing this, I remember you from back when we had the Droid 3's. Thanks again for the work there and now here. With regards to your issue, can't say I know for sure, but I did have issues with DTIgnite (Verizon Ignite) at one point. I had just converted to dev edition and went back to marshmallow and before the first boot I flashed super su. It took a while but it did boot however the setup had changed and the GSM radio stopped working. I noticed that's one of your debloated apps, maybe not the issue but just wanted to share that experience.
Thanks! I figured I'd bring some love back to the Edge.
I'll try and see if including Ignite works, and maybe set up a script that will delete it after everything is set up.
I've started to upload the latest 4.4.4, 5.0.1, and 6.0.1 factory images. I did about 3 hours of searching just to find a reliable download source for them that didn't download at 15 kb/s. 14 hours to download, lol, YEAH RIGHT! I'll make a new section on my website that will hold them all, and I'll make a guide there as well. I can do more after my midterms today.
Now I have it debloated, and booting, but getting a TON of FC's during setup. Slow but steady.
UPDATE 1: OK, so this is REALLY weird. I eliminated all other forms of debloating, and it seems that even just removing Knox is causing FC-loops on startup. It could be because of being deodexed, possibly. This is killing me. lol
GOOD NEWS! If this next build runs smoothly, it will be uploaded and made public! Nothing extraordinary, but its a start. I'll add more tweaks and things now that I have something up and going. For now, sorry for the missing bloat, but I have no plans as of this second to make a flashable zip that adds that bloat back in. That may eventually change, but for now, its not on my list.

That will likely be later. I might have to upload all the necessary files to my server so Im not relying on someone elses links. If you need help, I'll try to get you going, as much as I can do.

I suppose I'll just give it a shot when I find the time. I was just worried with how dead this scene was that if I got my self into a corner there'd be no one to help me out. Thank you for breathing some light into this phone again.
No problem. It's typically the Verizon variants that get left behind.
BTW, my test was successful, and the ROM has been uploaded. This afternoon, I'll make a thread for it, and if I have time, a better guide.
i've found deodexing since i've upgraded to 6.0.1 to be a pain, so i skipped it. also i removed ignite back on 4.4.4 and it caused troubles then i reinstalled it as user app and the phone was ok... ish.. so i'd leave that one alone too. i googled it to see what it does but no luck. of course it may have been something else causing the issues, but that was what i experienced while making my 4.4.4 rom.
I'm uploading the necessary files for the unlock guide, and have the guide maybe 30% written. You want to wait until my guide is finished and posted before you attempt this? I have the ROM already up, but it's only useful if you have already done the conversion and have TWRP installed.

Hey, guys. Searched around this forum for this topic but didn't see anything, apologize if it's a duplicate.
Basically my tablet has been freezing constantly since the nougat update. It wasn't happening all that often to begin with but over time it turned into something like once a day to a few times a day. It doesn't follow any usage patterns as far as I can tell (i.e. I use chrome mostly but if I'm on something like one of the regular google apps it might still happen). Once it freezes I have to force shutdown via power button. Every now and then it will freeze and restart itself without my having to force shutdown.
It's stock ROM, with virtually stock apps (dropbox is the only downloaded app). I read about some solutions which I've already tried, and so I wiped the cache, did a factory reset, have about 5gb free storage space, and the issues are still the same.
Any suggestions? Thanks

Can you try something for me. Flash this kernel FIRE-ICE N K10.5.3 (K10.5.4 seems to be having problems ATM)

Hi, thanks for replying. I absolutely can do that but I literally have no experience flashing kernels. It's been a long time since I've even done that and I'd want to make sure I don't screw anything up.

Yes TWRP
Question did you unlock your bootloader?
honestly i don't remember. some time ago my n9 got stuck in some weird bootloop. i had to run the RUU (i think that's what it was) to restore everything back to completely normal. so if me having to do that meant i unlocked the bootloader then yes i did. if not, then i wouldn't have done it.
