Random phone muted - Motorola Droid RAZR

Has anyone had their RAZR go mute? It seems to happen every few days and I can only resolve it by wiping cache and recovery. I've been using PACman. Anyone had similar experiences or a better solution?

It's a known bug of every Aosp based ROM... Till devs fix it, simply Reboot...

Is there a thread on this already? Is there someone (anyone) specific working on it?
I would hate to switch, but are there any roms that are less prone to the issue?

Yeah few devs are working on this bug to fix . I believe in next or most probably second next update ll be fixed . Its good to reboot phone sometimes because there are many apps which runs in background and any task killer can not kill them properly so i not randomly but i would suggest ya to rebooy ya phone once in a day . I hope ya understood
Please hit the thanks  if i ever helped ya !!

I experience this bug on CM. Do we know if its rom or kernel related?

Its rom related

Its the kernel. Thats why it appears across all ROMs based on that.
I've had it too, but not anymore on JBX kernel.

Sadly that means its in part of kernel source shared by the stock CM kernel and jbx, or its in the CM. I know most other AOSP roms have their roots in CM. I see you're using PACMAN.
Quite sad really, otherwise these AOSP roms for the razr are remarkable. The biggest draw back being limited video recording resolution, which i care nothing about.
I've been back on stock JB since yesterday, everything is smooth sailing.

Happens to me on Stock AOKP but only when using data based talking apps like Skype or Magic Jack not with regular phone calls. Reboot fixes it temporarily.

Ice Cream Zenwich is your answer....there's no more on xda but on rootzwiki....and here's the link: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/21742-ro...mmer-of-buddha-5-26-12-deficient-development/
Enjoy!
Thats a personal preference answer. BUT, i prefer ICZenwich also. i actually go back and forth between ICZ, AOKP, and Gummy. I dont have a problem with passion, it was my first ICS, but there was a point where there were way too many test updates going on. i could never get GPS to work except for on one particular release with a certain kernel but it ended up being outdated. but i still kept the files though. It has been a while but maybe i will try passion again
CM9 nightlies seem to be doing well right now! Maybe try those, they have no bugs.

Wouldn't say NO bugs but any ICS ROM bug exists between ALL variants.
CM9 has bugs--->AOKP is based on CM9 so AOKP has bugs ---> MIUI is based on CM9 so MIUI has bugs
Has anyone tried Chimera v1.1 on Team Passion website? Hows that one?

Agreed, loving chimera with platypus kernel and great battery life. Videos do not work on sub zero kernel FYI. The aroma installer is pretty sick, very easy to install.

Not true, 720p video playback works flawlessly for me on subZero #80. However, I believe MP's latest build (#128) may require an add-on fix for it to work properly with BIGMEM enabled... You know what, I'm gonna go install the latest subZero right now and post back here on what I find.

All of the jb ROMs are good. There has been a lot of people flashing helly bean. It is basically a continuation of the port dev'ed by Der Teufel, he devs the devil kernel. My suggestion is test them all.

I'm using Jellybro and GPS is about as good as it's ever been for my Vibe. Just "meh." If I open Maps and let it settle for a bit it will lock. Then I can go into Endomondo or Navigation or whatever. But if I go straight to Endomondo and try to do my route it won't really ever lock.

I only get Galasy S settings to open with Devil kernel. The Devil kernel 103 messed up my modem so I had to refash KB5 after flashing Devil. The brightness slider option (slide finger across notification area) works, but is kinda glitchy sometimes. But overall it is the most stable ROM I've ever flashed - no force closes, etc.
JB development has come a long way.
I was surprised how fast we've got JB on our Vib. Thanks to the devs for their never ending support.
As per my experience JB is buggy at best. But i think its good since none of the devs are saying they are out of alpha release already.
JB GPS is working intermittently on sygic gps app but it doesnt work at all when i switch to google nav.
I dont have this problem on ICS i can just switch to sygic or google without a problem.
Browsing is laggy. Battery life is not that good.
But it's very tolerable. (Depends really on your tolerance level)
But again development is on its early stage, for sure the best is here to come.
Been flashing JB for the last 2 weeks. Time to get a rest. Lol
Back to IC Zen 1.8.4 with a Jelly Bean Theme. Its smooth, GPS is working pretty well. And i still get the JB experience with the theme.
Nothing to complain really...

Suggest a ROM

Howdy. I'm looking to replace stock Jelly Bean on my rooted RAZR xt912 with a custom ROM that works.
Issues I'm looking to fix with this move:
Ability to run pdanet so I can wifi tether without eating up my limited data plan.
Ear speaker stops working after some time; I have to use a headset or speakerphone to hear the caller.
Battery life is abysmal.
System runs slow, even after recent factory reset.
I need a ROM that's stable and has everything working (camera Bluetooth, wifi, calling, google services, etc...) Because this is my only phone right now and I'm on the road away from home.
Any suggestions, ideas, or pointers would be great!

Your best bet would be stick based custom ROMs. U can try Rage ROM, dwiz1.0 , jelly wiz or any other stock based ROM that works with your kernel

Alright, I may do that. I've been digging around here looking for a section or area where ROM's are posted, but I don't seem to be finding it.
Is there a section or area set aside for ROM's, perhaps sorted by device?

Here are the roms for Droid RAZR here on XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1363 There are also some on droid-hive: http://droid-hive.com/index.php?/forum/455-roms/ and droidrzr: http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/forum/156-droid-razr-roms/ If you're looking for customization and features, go for an AOSP-based rom like cyanogenmod or aokp. If you don't care so much about features but want more stability, go for a stock/moto-based ROM.
I'm using LiquidSmooth. It's Android 4.2.2 and I use it as my daily driver. Only problems I have are random freezes and reboots, but the benefits if this ROM way outweigh that problem.
Sent from my DROID RAZR Maxx using XDA Premium
Liquidsmooth and carbon rom are very good roms my recommendation is liquidsmooth cuz its stable and abt random freezes u have to disable lockscreen by setting it to none....
I have been a cyanogenmod fan since my old Droid X. When I went with my Razr MAXX I was disappointed that it wasn't available, so I settled with Arctic for a good long while. I really liked the ROM, however as soon as Cyanogenmod was available I jumped on board ASAP. The only thing they don't have working is the HDMI output, but I don't use that feature anyways, so who cares.
Anyhow,,,,,,,,,,,, the instructions are VERY easy to follow and I have very little trouble with it. It's not what they call a stable release, but then in my opinion it's still way more stable than many others I've tried!

do not mislead him with kexec who still has issues!!!

the most stable from my experience was a cm9 ics based rom as its most compatible with the device...most roms 4.1 based and higher have reboot issues because of a deep sleep issue caused by the default setting of the min frequency being too low under performance settings...but if you want everything to work including bluetooth and not have sense cm9 would be your best choice...4.3 based roms still have many bugs such as mms not working after first reboot and camcorder keeps force closing..4.1 and up still has a few bluetooth based bugs and your reboots...the reboots still happen on 4.3 based roms like pac until you change it to proper settings
Liquid smooth all day

The AOSP ROM I used for a while was PAC but it started rebooting a lot because it overheated while charging. CM9 was stable for me and CM10 is almost stable.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW running EclipticRezRavampedV9 (Lunar Kernel) using xda app-developers app.
full asop
Even the latest version of cm9 (back in 05/28/13) has bluetooth problems. Is there really no aosp or kang that is 100% functional? Weather it be 4.0, 4.2, 4.3? Came close with Liquid Smooth but still having soft reboots.
Consider Talon v1.0, because either nobody is using it (unlikely with over 3000 views), or people are using it and brenuga just built it right and it works... and my money is on the later. Seems extremely stable, feature rich, and bug-free, it is what I am going with for my work phone.
My ROM of choice is CM10.1.3. I have zero issues with it. CM9 would be my next choice.
