[Q] How do I get a transparent status bar? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone is rooted and I'm currently using Benz custom rom, if I remember correctly!
Please can anybody tell me or show me information on how I can make my status bar transparent please, and maybe change the colour of the icons to stand out better against backgrounds.
Thanks.

There should be some guides out there. Just google it. You will be surpised what you find!

Yeah, but don't be scared: if your phone isn't compatible, the worst thing can happen is a gone statusbar
I tried this before without success:

So I tried this:
If your ROMs isn't deodexed, deodex SystemUI.apk
Decompile it.
Go to /res/drawable-mdpi (or ldpi, or hdpi... depends of your device) and locate an image named statusbar_background.9.png
Open that image with your favorite image editor, and make it as transparent as you desire. You can fill the image with a pattern... or a solid color... or using a gradient, it doesn't matter (note that the image has an 1 pixel margin with some black pixels, don't make them transparent).
Recompile the apk, and flash it. Reboot to see the changes.

I was just giving him info that it'll not be universal
And about your method. It isn't necessary that framework uses png for status bar color. Samsung touchwiz ROMs(atleast for devices I know) use hex colors to determine status bar color.

Oh. That would work! But only for ICS+. I am using GB so never got an idea about Xposed Module.
Yes, that would work as the sole purpose of Xposed is to remove specific dependencies of framework and make it hackable.

[THEME] Black Status Bar Theme For Droid2

Hi,
Here is my first theme. This is mostly to pimp out the status/notification bar on the droid 2. The zip file contains instructions. Mostly just a bunch of stuff ive/found stolen from other themes and some elements of my own. Let me know how you like it. The services.jar replacement can be dangerous so you should know what youre doing. The theme itself should be ok. You will need Metamorph and root of course.

Ok thank for not taking the time to just write it. Your read me just says if you want it white them replace the services.jar LOL ok so i am not a programmer and can only guess tough guy that the text wont be white? I just wanted to know if it will affect anything else. SOOOOOO many times i see people "make" their own theme and swear up and down that something wont affect another and it does, so again thanks for the vague instructions and really helping out with nothing. I tell you want your theme isnt worth it i will just move on to a better one thank you!

costs a few bucks but well worth it. don't mind the haters in the comments, this app has worked on every android phone I've had and with every ROM.
new version.. 0.7
some new icons/updates
looks awesome!! thank you!!!!
im going to be moving support for this theme over to the VZW 2.4.5 (and eventually newer) roms. version 0.7 will be the last one for the default droid 2 rom. ill leave it around for those who want it. version 0.8 for vzw 2.4.5 coming soon.

why not just make a black status bar then?
really id just need the white text but im really not confident in my ability to do it and the majority om these talk about deodexing and i just dont understand enough about the OS to do much outside of a simple step by step.

The letters and clock mostly. the images are all in a dark grey that would be tough to see so it would be nice to have all the icons(3G, vibrate, silent, battery, signal bars, text message and email) done in a white/light grey as well. I understand that is a bit tougher to do. I could make the images if I could rip the current ones off my phone and just use photoshop to change the colors then repackage and install. but I dont know how to rip, repackage or install. so I just wanted to use his method with icons I would make, assuming this is possible.

if you give me the images i can prolly make an installer for you, but you should maybe enhance your knowledge on this stuff first before you try to do it as these things can be dangerous.

It is possible however you would have to have a theme to work with first. You would then decompile the APK using a tool such as APK manager or you can open the apk directly using something like Winrar or similar. You can then navigate to the folder of "drawable-hdpi" which inside the "res" folder. This is where all the pngs are held.
well i was gonna release v0.8 for the green 2.5 vzn rom by angdroid, but i like the looks of that fission rom that they are working on.. maybe ill do 0.8 as planned and do 0.9 for fission once they are done with it.
fission seems nice and clean

[Q] A question about Tweaks.apk

I added the tweaks.apk into the Achotjan ROM in order to make the color of the clock and the battery icons changeable. I also put the 1_stat_sys_battery_**.png and 2_stat_sys_battery_**.png into the framework-res.apk. However,I could see the color of the clock changed but as for the battery icons,I failed.
Could you please tell me how to make the battery icons changeable with three types without replacing the pngs?
Besides putting the 1_stat_sys_battery_**.png and 2_stat_sys_battery_**.png into the framework-res.apk,what else should we do?
Thanks so much!
BAMF Tweaks? I install it but i cant change color of my clock. I'm on stock based ROM.

The TEAM tweaks.apk.The color of clock can be changed here.
Lol guys. The tweaks app is simply a front end to changes made to the framework coding etc. You can't just add the app and make it work. I could tell you what code changes to make but I would recommend you just theme it normally. As code changes are very complicated without source code.

Thank you so much! I am eager to learn, so please teach me something about it.
Where should we edit and how?
Now the main problem is that I had already put three kinds of battery icons into the framework-res.apk and I tried to switch the icon style by the tweaks.apk, however, it didn't work.(But the color of the clock could be changed by it.)
Then what else should I do?

From memory the battery icon code is in the android.policy.jar
I had to edit the smali to take extra options.
If you are keen to learn go look at my git hub. I made commits for most of the smali mods. The repo is team_Rom I think.
Got no electricity atm due to storms lol sorry I can't link it. Lol. It is in my signature/profile tho.

[Q] How to make status bar smaller?

Hi guys, im a galaxy s2 gt-i9100 user and how do i make my status bar thinner as it is taking up a bit of space?? Do i decompile systemui.apk or seclauncher2.apk? And what line is it to edit? I do not want to change my lcd density as touchwiz becomes weird and i do not want to install a 3rd party launcher. Please help me out guys!
I found this breakdown of the systemui:
https://android.googlesource.com/pl...b5baa/packages/SystemUI/res/values/dimens.xml
Didn't find the specific part for what you need though, sorry.
Would be cool if someone could make an exposed module for this. What I do, is just use the Expanded Desktop mode available on newer roms like CM, AOKP, etc. so it's gone till I swipe it.

If you are running a TW based rom, you have to use the framework and the tw-framework files to help decompile the systemui.
apktool if framework-res.apk
apktool if twframework-res.apk
That idea. Without those, systemui can't decompile correctly. If you are running a non TouchWiz rom then there is another issue. Make sure to use a tool that is known to work with the update you are on as there are lots of different tools to do this and some are better suited than others.

Hmm, sorry, I don't really use Xposed for this purpose, so I think you'd be better off looking for help in the module's support page (link is in the module download page).
However you can do what I do - just lower the DPI of your device, and Android will shrink everything after you reboot - the status bar, even your apps.
Look for 'ro.sf.lcd_density' in your build.prop. Lower it by a few numbers, reboot. Repeat until you get a setup that's just right.
If you get problems with Play Store after this, look for Play Store Fixes in the Xposed download page.

[Theme] EGT Version 0 3.1.15

On Hold Indefinitely
Important Info
This is the first theme I'm making for the Tab S and it is in testing.
If you download and flash please disregard missing elements in the theme.
I expect to be finished sooner than later. By the end of the weekend maybe.
I'll post any significant additions or improvements if it's not completed by Mon.
I Am Not Responsible For Any Use Of Information Or Files Posted By Myself Or By Any Other User.
Limitations and Solutions
The vr system will theme pngs, .9.pngs and some xmls [font color and some significant background elements].
I personally will theme my stock T700 NL2 rom and add apks to the theme to complete it where I cannot for any rom build because it would cause errors.
If two roms use stock apks with no mods to them you might be able to do this but I would not advise it.
Developers And Rom Users
I'll happily find the time to make this or any theme I put out for the TabS compatible with your rom. Please PM me or let me know.
Theme Design And Name Info
This is a simple theme that will add white and grey [4D5163, 343743] to touchwiz ui.
The name Version 0 is because this is the first time I've released a theme at this early of a stage, it will be relatively colorless and seemed cool enough.
EMPTYGALAXYTHEME comes from my EMPTYGALAXYROM name and I guess a way to encompass all my work. lol
I'm not big on it now but it adds to the fun.
EMPTYGALAXYTHEME
VERSION 0https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9398026/EGT_V0_3.1.15.zip
vr theme flashable zip tested on T700. It should work on any Tab S but I'm not 100% sure about the T800.
Please Report If It Works On Your Tab S
current themed parts
System UI - toggles, icons.
Framework - menus, some background
screenshots when finished
I realize the risk you run flashing a theme without any screenshots or revert zip and I thank you for that[emoji14]
Hopefully I'll need this
Confirmed working on T800. Just needs a few fixes. Power menu is also themed to. So looks like you got that down thank you man
That's how it should look at this point. That's great thanks.
Feel free to use the zip as a map. Some things I didn't need to theme but unzip it and you'll know some of r he pngs. I'd love to know where that side bar in settings is...

Hey changed the icons in sec settings. I still don't know which is the color that blueish one is. I used your theme as a base and filled some stuff in the empty folders. I managed to get the recents bar themed too. I did some cherry picking from discreet blue. The settings now has custom icons. Also fixed the auto brightness tick box while I was at it.
Very nice. Was the recents bar in settings? I'm thinking the side bar background might be an xml.... I hope not though

If I am correct, the recents bar was an XML... I looked at discreet blue and saw that the systemui had layout folder along with an XML file. I'm still trying to figure out the top blue bar in the notification panel. The framework doesn't need changes as its perfect for me.
Here's my zip in case you want to know the things I added. https://www.dropbox.com/s/fehgzqqiu6rbmon/Theme Test 2 DUHAsianSKILLZ.zip?dl=0
I'll check that out if I get a chance. I've got to find all the backgrounds before I'll be changing icons or anything else. Looks like each rom may need it's own themed apks though cuz of values folders

That's in one of the value folders in System UI apk. Next time I'm at my pc I'll find exactly where.

I don't think I did anything with the framework. Been really busy finishing and studying for exams this week. I'm all finished now though. I tried looking for that part yesterday and I couldn't find it! And I also had trouble with the top nonfication panel. Those are basically the only things left until its finished.
What tab do you have? Lol. I'll need the System Ui from the rom. I'm thinking it's worth focusing on IronRom and your version. Once it's complete it'll be easier to bring it to the others. I have the debloated NL2. .. I might complete something for that. Idk though. You're all over helping the community so honestly I want to return the favor and get this done.

I'm trying not to work too much on it since lollipop is coming real soon. You'll see me around the community a lot since I own the device . If I owned other devices you'd see me there too. Thanks again! If you don't manage to find it or get things to work, I can try to do it.
Well, I must need to update some tools or something. I can not compile framework. And the SystemUI sent I couldn't compile. The xml that needs to be modded is in value-sw800dp-xhdpi/drawables.xml "notification_header_bg".
Now there is a good chance it's somewhere else because when I did it on my SysUI I went through all the drawables.xml and colors.xml is values folders, values-sw800dp-xhdpi, values-sw600dp, values-sw540dp, values-sw360dp-xhdpi, values-sw320dp and values.
I won't be able to do anything until I can get those compiled

Sorry for the late reply, had a big project to do. I typically use tickelmyandroid tool to compile and decompile the Apks since it uses apktool and all that. Never had a problem. Perhaps I can compile them?
That might work. I'm gonna see about tickle my android. I've never used it. Thanks for the info. I'm still doing work on the s4. I'll try to make some time for the tab.

[Q] How to make navigation bar transparent in oxygen os

I want to change the black nav bar to full transparent (except the softkeys). Is there any way to do it??
Edit: I am not asking a way to do it using oxygen OS. I am asking how to do it if I am on oxygen OS.

Isn't it transparent by default? Well, within apps I dont think you can make it transparent, unless you use an xposed module or something in the lines of it.

Yeah... I am asking about making it transparent within the app.
I could not find any xposed module which can do this.
Tell me if you find one.

http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.woalk.apps.xposed.translucentstyle or you can simply download gravitybox and navigate to the statusbar/navbar tweaks and then adjust transparency from there
^you can try that or try going on stackexchange and finding ways to edit the build.prop for transparent navbars.
I still dont get why you want it to be transparent though, like the buttons wouldn't be visible if you were on an app with a white background like google now.

Even though it is not visible, I know the position of the soft keys. Hence, I can still touch the correct button.
Also, the module you posted is only for KitKat.
I don't know how to do "stackchange"
Download gravitybox then
