Hi guys, im a galaxy s2 gt-i9100 user and how do i make my status bar thinner as it is taking up a bit of space?? Do i decompile systemui.apk or seclauncher2.apk? And what line is it to edit? I do not want to change my lcd density as touchwiz becomes weird and i do not want to install a 3rd party launcher. Please help me out guys!
I found this breakdown of the systemui:
https://android.googlesource.com/pl...b5baa/packages/SystemUI/res/values/dimens.xml
Didn't find the specific part for what you need though, sorry.
Would be cool if someone could make an exposed module for this. What I do, is just use the Expanded Desktop mode available on newer roms like CM, AOKP, etc. so it's gone till I swipe it.

If you are running a TW based rom, you have to use the framework and the tw-framework files to help decompile the systemui.
apktool if framework-res.apk
apktool if twframework-res.apk
That idea. Without those, systemui can't decompile correctly. If you are running a non TouchWiz rom then there is another issue. Make sure to use a tool that is known to work with the update you are on as there are lots of different tools to do this and some are better suited than others.

I decompiled systemui.apk successfully, one question i have is that do i put systemui.apk itself back to system/app or with twframework.apk and framework-res.apk?
There is an Xposed module for this.
It's called Dimensions editor.

Hmm, sorry, I don't really use Xposed for this purpose, so I think you'd be better off looking for help in the module's support page (link is in the module download page).
However you can do what I do - just lower the DPI of your device, and Android will shrink everything after you reboot - the status bar, even your apps.
Look for 'ro.sf.lcd_density' in your build.prop. Lower it by a few numbers, reboot. Repeat until you get a setup that's just right.
If you get problems with Play Store after this, look for Play Store Fixes in the Xposed download page.

There is yet another Xposed module for this!
'App Settings' lets you set DPI, set font scaling, and even revoke permissions from individual apps.

Heey there
I was searching a while for a transparent settings app (I like transparent apps so )
Since no theme porter or dev was answering the Q for transparent settings app
I tried to customize the settings app myself i tried different things but unsuccessful (maybe because of my limited skills )
After some more trying it almost works
So thought I'll post it here so everyone can enjoy a transparent settings app
Since I'm not a dev or theme porter and I was just trying something out
There are some bugs in it but I don't have the required skills to fix them all
so if there is any dev or theme porter that could give me some tips PM PLEAS I really want this done
Extra options that work
Build in font changer in settings app itself so no need for Third party app
G-sensor calibration option
This need to be "fixed"
Wireless and network menu
Bluetooth switch on the check-box in the settings menu doesn't work (when you enable bleutooth in the statusbar the settings can be changed in the bleutooth menu)
Call settings menu
The call settings menu should be expanded (now there is only a voice-mail setting option so nothing like hide numer callsettings etc.)
Sound settings menu
There is an option for video-call ringtone (need to be removed but doesn't give FC so not urgent )
Display settings menu
Brightness setting doesn't work (if you use the Power control widget you can change the brightness)
There are options for
- White colour density
- Black colour density
- Saturation
- TV out
All FC, whether they should be removed or fixed, if someone can make these option working that would be super
The horizontal calibration must be edit because the roll indicator is not one the right scale
Location and security menu
The option for aiding sensors is missing
Application menu
in the menu "manage applications the size for each app is on the big side not verry handy if you have a lot of apps but its just for the looks so not verry urgent
SD-card and memory menu
There is an option for formatting internal memory haven't tried it yet but if someone has enough courage to try this option we will know if it works
For the rest everything is working perfect
Thx man
Love it !

Reflash a Rom is much more easier than prepare a cup noodles. Just plug to PC and then fire up odin, wait for 2mins than Titanium Backup than that's all
Now doing a full Backup
But anyway thank you for your setting.apk

but when i see its not working but I'm on my way home and don't have a pc I just replace the old one
so no reboot, flash or backup needed
Thanks for trying I hope some day a theme porter will give me some tips or make a better one
I'll reupload my previous one so some people can try it out and maybe fix the bugs
After trying my first attempt again i discovered that the build in font changer in the settings app works so you can apply new fonts in the settings app itself so no need to install any third party apps
Also the option for G-sensor calibration works!!!
Well. The main difference you will find in styles.xml when you decompile this Settings.apk and the one from our phone. There are some lines that have to be added to it. And then you will have to define them in Public.xml also. And then again you will have to declare them in the classes.dex file. i.e. in the smali files.
Its tedious. Smali/baksmali.

what's the exact problem/ui issue your are having? (like text color or list item selection color etc.)
I haven't tried modding an app before but I am a full-fledged Android developer.

So I tried this:
If your ROMs isn't deodexed, deodex SystemUI.apk
Decompile it.
Go to /res/drawable-mdpi (or ldpi, or hdpi... depends of your device) and locate an image named statusbar_background.9.png
Open that image with your favorite image editor, and make it as transparent as you desire. You can fill the image with a pattern... or a solid color... or using a gradient, it doesn't matter (note that the image has an 1 pixel margin with some black pixels, don't make them transparent).
Recompile the apk, and flash it. Reboot to see the changes.

I was just giving him info that it'll not be universal
And about your method. It isn't necessary that framework uses png for status bar color. Samsung touchwiz ROMs(atleast for devices I know) use hex colors to determine status bar color.

Oh. That would work! But only for ICS+. I am using GB so never got an idea about Xposed Module.
Yes, that would work as the sole purpose of Xposed is to remove specific dependencies of framework and make it hackable.

Since you're rooted you can change the DPI in build.brop (/system/build.prop).
If you insert a lower number everything will look smaller.

First of all, read about build.prop and how to edit it, it's a extremely important file. You also have to backup it.
Search for something like ro.sf.lcd_density=(your actual DPI).
If the value is 240 (per example), change to 200 and reboot your device.

Is it possible to maximize the size of the pattern lock in the new cm 10,11 builds? So it will be the same as ics but keep the JB/KK layout..
Thanks in advance,
Cheers.
So far i know its not possible. But i can suggest you two possible solution.
You can try to change different Grid size. But i am not totally sure whether it will works or not.
or you can flash any stock lockscreen zip which is compatible with CM10+.

It's a known usability bug -- please see: github.com/LegacyXperia/local_manifests/issues/164
The only way (I know) of changing this, is to change the DPI from 160 to 140. You can do so with build.prop Editor (1) or Xposed apps like "App Settings" (2). It'll change the rest/parts of the UI as well though.

Try looking in the mipmap folders instead of drawables ( though some will be in drawables as well). Look at the chrome apk. There are several mipmap folders and the app icon will sometimes be in different sizes due to where the app icon will be seen ( app drawer, home screen, etc).
Some are in .XML format. If you have custom looking icons, they will be in the launcher .apk you are using but might be in .XML format.
ya , but with kitkat 4.4.4 and later samsung changed most icons to a custom file format like atc , astc or qmg ...these formats are very hard to convert back and forth so it is really a pain in the ass ... i think samsung prefers the iphone customers who like non customizable expensive crap
