As, mihahn suggested you have to delete Update Center.apk in /system/app/. You need root acces for that.
If you flashed a modified rom it would be rooted, but then again there will be a root access app. So, you might have flashed a stock firmware. It is not rooted AFAIK.
You can unlock your bootloader and root it (keeping the present ROM?).
Unlock Bootloader

Root Xperia 2011

Or you can simply choose to ignore the update.

No you don't have root anymore but you can simply reroot like explained in my rooting guide and then use a root explorer to delete the .apk. Reboot and enjoy

[Q] Wi-fi problem on 4.0.2.A.0.42 gb

Hey guys, hate starting new threads, but yet again I think my problem is unique. I bought an Xperia Neo, unlocked the bootloader, flashed .62 down to .42 (so I can root), rooted it, and my wi-fi doesn't work. There is a full stable network, but it doesn't recognize it. I tried other networks, but all my friends' wi-fi works perfectly, and I can't even find the network. The wi-fi itself turns off after a few seconds of being on, What could I havew done wrong? Please help.

Do a backup and flash .64 Why on earth did you downgrade back to .42 just to root when your bootloader is unlocked? Just install a custom kernel with CWM and flash a superuser zip.
P.S. DON'T DO OTA. You might brick your PHONE!
jasonwsc is right
Flash .62 and then do one of the unlocked bootloader methods to gain root acces or even better install a custom rom.
DONT GO FOR ICS you will regret it..
Anyway maybe it is a bug with .42 firmware edition
Jut upgrade to .62

Google it! You'll find it on superuser developer's site. Ready to flash. Also if you dont want any trouble of those things, just flash a custom ROM like codename.

[Q] How to unroot and remove cwm?

I recently rooted and installed cwm on my Neo V, so I can install cyanogenmod. I was going to unlock the bootloader before installing cyanogenmod, but someone told me that the bootloader needs to be unlocked before rooting.
So my question is, do I need to unroot, as well as remove clockworkmod to unlock bootloader? Please help!

Custom kernel are found in Development section!
You may check my thread but for cyanogenmod Roms, you'll find kernels inside the zip you download!
Extract it and flash kernel, then the Rom

I've searched but can't seem to find an answer to my question, this thread seems to be closest. I have unlocked BL, rooted and flashed cm10 on my wife's Neo V, because on stock rom it was too slow. Runs great, really happy. Only problem, she uses a Barclays Bank app, but because it has detected that the phone is rooted, it won't let her use it. Can I unroot without losing the custom rom, or a way around making the app "beleive" that the phone isn't rooted?

Get another bank... Cant use cyanogenmod without root because root is part of cyanogenmod.. So next time yo need a phone with cyan you only need to fix bootloader and then flash you rom.. No root needed

Root is in the ROM, so if you flash the latest ROM from recovery, you'll have the binary and apk back anyway.

you dont need to unroot to change roms you should be able to flash any rom (as long as you have the right recovery and what not)
If your talking about just stock ROM rooted and wanting to get the 4.3 OTA then im 99% sure that once you root which (means you unlocked the bootloader) you cant receive the OTA anymore. im not sure if its worth the hastle of relocking the bootloader to maybe see if youll get the ota. just flash a 4.3 rom and youll be good.

cool thx im gonna try to flash a 4.3 rom
so i flashed this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2499452 and now super user says there is no SU binary installed , if you upgraded to android 4.3 , you need to manually re-root-consult the relevant forums for your divece . could anyone help me out here i dont know what to do, do i need to re root the phone?
All you have to do is download chainfire latest superuser zip and reboot into recovery and choose it and install it .
You don't need to reroot if you already flashed a Rom..that means you was able to flash it cause u was rooted .
You just need to install superuser zip.

with a deodexed rom it makes it much easier for removing of apps for instance i was able to get rid of nearly all the htc apps, twitter and facebook... when i originally tried to do it with rom toolbox before it would only uninstall the updates and still leave the original app... also with this it should conceivably be easier to start porting roms to our phone...

I dont know truth be told.. there are some differences between the at&t model and the eu model... so i wouldn't advise trying it but.. i do know that some people who have the eu model have flash the at&t rom successfully... as always I can't take any responsibility for any problems occur from flashing it..
