T-mobile amaze users - HTC Amaze 4G

Hey guys I've been noticing lately that my amaze is connecting to at&t 4g networks where t-mobile 4g isn't available it even connects to at&ts edge network when tmobile network isn't available..
Have and of you experiance this while on t-mobile??

Not the case to me in north dallas. I tried to connect to ATT but it would not register. My TMO connection is so poor that I have to rely on Wifi-Calling.

I don't understand why t-mobile says they invested a lot in there towers when they have big dead zones here in the west (Utah )... But they focused more on the eastern US.. if they wanna call themselfs the best they need to focus on better coverage and not faster speeds

Ya but they are going to focus on the highest populated areas where they have the most customers first

So that would mean T-Mobile would focus on big cities such as New York, Chicago, etc. Unfortunately for the op he might not be in a heavily populated area.

Am thinking of changing from cdma to gsm. Currently on the sprint network and their 3G has went to ........ I used to get 2mb downloads to around 250kb. What good is unlimited data if its dog slow. Is GSM 3G any better?

technically, the speed doesn't depend on network type, it should be the same on both GSM and CDMA. It depends on your cell provider limits.
Ok. Well people with GSM network providers .. what are your 3G speeds?

im on tmobile USA. in MA, i hit around 4.8mb and in NY, its 7.6mb down.
"3G" gsm AT&T or T-Mobile is WCDMA (HSPA+ capable of up to 21mbps theroetical) Verizon and Sprint "3G" is EVDO (Theroretical up to 3mbps) you have to look at the phones radio capabilities and the network. Technically the 3G tech that GSM uses is faster than the 3G tech CDMA uses.
The phones... UGH... It depends on the service you have, your location, and how far you are from the tower... The phone dosent... Just.. Stupid ass question... Really just.. You're stupid end of story.

holy facking hell! but when everyone starts jumping on LTE the speeds wont likely be like that no more. i'm quite happy with my wimax right now i get 13-17mbps
True but they'll still be faster than now. There's a tower right next to where I live so I'm always getting those speeds as well

Im about to cry... D: im amazed.. Sprints done it again!! They like take a massive leap, let the rest of the carriers take a small step ahead.... Take another massive leap.. Let the other carriers catch up... And just keep pullin more crap outa there butts to flaunt in the other carriers faces! Like they were the first to offer 4g a year ahead of everyone else.. And KEEP there unlimited plan then they do this! O: the only place they lack in is a wide range of phones but theyre even catching up in that department! Nd who cares they gor the mopho!!

Most of us will probably never see this ever and for two reasons.
1. It's Sprint and they are absolutely full of crap. Promised people around the country 4g nearly 2 years ago and still nothing.
2. See #1

Actually better signal would = better battery life on cdma networks.
Yea I can guarantee that the speeds will be much lower with more than a few people connected to the network. I'm just impressed that Sprint is capable of this is all.

Check out the company called light squared and search it with sprint in the same search. Sprint is paying out the ass to make it work. I'm a recruiter and I work with the company they have recently had some break through and even some test. If it works out. Sprint will be able to use the tech to transfer their LTE anywhere you can receive a GPS signal.

Why does t Sprint just continue to build their wimax network? Merge or buyout clearwire and continue with what they already got?

Sent from my Motorola Photon 4G (MoPho) on Sprint, the Now Network using XDA Premium.
The point of lightsquared was to broadcast lte from satellites. Was essentially going to give them near 100% coverage in the us with the flip of a switch.
If they are out of the picture then we are back to getting 4g from towers which will take years. To build out.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
i read from some recent articles, Lightsquared has been stating a pretty solid argument (in my opinion) that the first test was purposely rigged, a board member on fcc or somethin was from a GPS company, they used old out dated gps devices that was being interfered with because of careless manufacturing (faulty design) fcc took it to courts/congress to help investigate while also redoing the testing of their network and gps interference
i probably left a lot out ill try to find links

Haha because Wimax blows and I would rather rely on Sprint to build out a 4G network than Clearwire to execute a 4G plan. We all know how Clearwire did with Wimax and lets just say its not complete. Also I would rather have Sprint on a 4G standard that is compliant to every other major carrier and follows the 3GPP standard and plus LTE is much better than Wimax.
Also I am tired of the 2.5 Ghz poor indoor penetration spectrum. I would rather have Sprint's 800 and 1900 Mhz spectrum for LTE and only rely on Clearwire for supplemental LTE capacity instead of relying entirely on Clearwire. I hope Clearwire succeeds and becomes really profitable because that just means that Sprint will be more profitable since it owns a 54% stake.
Maybe when clearwire is profitable they can begin to start expanding again but I don't see this happening until 2015-2016 at the very earliest but they need to focus on getting back into the black.
Light squared may be doomed but sprint still had clear. They are worth a hell of a lot more now since Verizon's huge priced spectrum buy a few months ago. They were set to be gobbled up by sprint but now the value of their spectrum is greater than sprints market cap. Having spent some time with a network engineer for clear, they aren't doing as bad as people think. Sprint will probably end up with much more spectrum than att has now for lte at least with their partnership. Clear will contract out bandwidth to many companies though. You have to remember that even Verizon is pretty limited and will face some problems as lte is more widely adopted. They have only about 10-15mhz of bandwidth.

New May LTE going Live schedule

http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/909-sprint-lte-may-2012-schedule-maps/page__pid__16079#entry16079
S4GRU has posted and updated LTE schedule for sites going live in May. NYC/NJ, and other areas are about tro go live....as I have said the LOS and dropped calls recently picking up probably is related to NV. In January in some places I got 1MB up, and down loading on 3G.
This is for all of you whiners complaining that Sprint won't have LTE up any time soon. This is also for some of you would be getting that EVO 4GLTE early....don't fret you will be vindicated. BTW you guys that went to Verizon, and are losing your unlimited data....here's mud in your eyes.ROFL....Just kidding come on over the speeds are just fine lol
This is a lovely time to be on Sprint here in NYC...LTE lighting up, and unlimited data to enjoy it at a great price.....
That interactive map is pissing me off lol, I swear I'm logged in but I can't view it.
I think I see a blue marker over Philadelphia there but I wonder if that is really there or proabably for the northern Maryalnd/Baltimore area?
EDIT: Oh, in my haste I somehow missed the whole "sponsor" bit.
I need them to get going with South Florida

Sweet! There will be some 4G even up in the boonies of North Georgia which is awesome. A ton of sites going up around Atlanta compared to others it looks like..
Yay for us Chicagoans, 288 kb/s down and 76 kb/s up
Saw this going on right outside my work today. And according to s4gru, it seems to be the location of a sprint tower. (There's no other towers anywhere near, and the map shows this as the location). Maybe good?

Moving to a Sprint dead zone?

So if all goes well with the mortgage company I'll be moving to an area with poor Sprint coverage. My question is do I get an airrave or switch carriers? I really love this phone, but to be honest I'm tired of crappy Sprint service. I live in mid-michigan and will never see LTE, so I was thinking vzw. Only problem is they don't have any version of the one series. If I were to switch to vzw what would be the best phone to get? I would assume the Sgs3 when it comes out, but not sure what else they have.

The Airrave II needs to be connected to a High Speed Internet. It will provide data and voice coverage for up to 8000 feet. If you dont like the speed that the Airrave II puts out you can always connect to your wireless internet.
Thanks for the replies, I plan on having WiFi anyways so that probably would be my best option because att and vzw are rediculous with their pricing.

Yes they are. I have 4 lines and pay almost $200. With VZW I would be looking I at almost $400 for the same service I get from sprint. You can always make your phone roam for phone service and 3G data. speed will very. just hit #*#*4636*#*# and on the top select the 3 dots, on the menu that comes up hit 800 mhz. only use this feature as last resource.
