I'd post this under the Trickdroid thread, but I guess I don't have enough rep to post in a dev forum. Anyways:
I installed the latest Trickdroid (7.5.0) & tweaks on my brand new AT&T HTC One (replaced GNexus). Everything was working great yesterday, and earlier today at work, but tonight it won't connect to my home WiFi. I've tried rebooting, forgetting and re-entering password, but nothing. When I try to connect, I see "Connecting" and the spinning blue circle, but it returns to "Saved, secured with WPA" without connecting. There are many other devices connecting to the Router with no issues.
Also, When I get a call, the phone shows the pattern unlock screen, but no indication that there is a call other than the ringing sound until I unlock the phone. I'm not familiar with sense. Is this correct?
Under Trickdroid settings --> Status bar, --> clock --> statusbar clock style, if I center the clock, I eventually end up with two clocks, one in the middle and one on the right.
The last two are minor, but the WiFi is a deal breaker.

1. I have the same issues with the status bar clock. I just keep it on normal. It's annoying that I can't put it where I want but nothing really you can do about it now. I'm also running on trickdroid 7.5.0. The double clock thing is aggravating lol!
2. I have the same issues with my incoming calls as you. I want to report this but I still don't have enough credibility to post in DEV forums yet.
3. As for the wifi I had the same issue at 1st. Have you tried going into system settings > wifi > advanced > toggle the wifi optimization and best wifi performance to off and on then reset the router and modem. I didn't have any problems connecting to to the router with my other devices but I reset the router anyways. After the router and modem booted back up I logged on and it worked. I hope this fixes your problem.

This is the first ROM I've ever put on my wife's phone. If I can't find a fix for #2, It may be the last. I could try an AOSP ROM which is more what she's used to, but I thought we'd try sense.
The WiFi was working when I got up this morning, and is working now. Odd.
When you guys flashed 7.5, did you elect to do a full wipe via Aroma? I'm on 7.5, with WiFi working, and my clock is center only. No issues. Not sure what the issue is. I'm on AT&T, and selected AT&T during the Aroma install process.

Yes I did a wipe.
It's not so much the trickdroid rom itself. The clock thing only happens if you flash the trickdroid tweaks. Just don't flash the tweaks. I only did it for the asop jellybean lock screen. But went back after the clock issue and lock screen issues.
Wifi is a hit or miss thing with these roms. I had an issue with cyanogen as well with my wifi.
It's best to just wait for a stable build from cyanogen or for the google edition rom.
This is my first time with anything android and so far I find it to be fragmented as far as support and consistency.

I did a full wipe too. I've installed it on two more phones, so I'll be interested to see if they all have the problems.

Since unlocking and rooting my Rez, my wifi works intermittently. I have the stock ROM and Sense 3.5.
At least once every day, none of the programs using a wifi connection will work--weather, internet, etc. The status bar shows a strong wifi signal but nothing will connect. The only way to get it working again is to toggle the wifi off and then back on again. Then it works again for awhile.
Any thoughts about how to resolve this situation?
check router settings, restart router, check phone wifi settings in case you want to fine tune the sleep options. if problem still occurs then backup your data, wipe everything except external, reflash and you should be good

Tried your recommendations but it is still doing the same thing.
Any other suggestions?
well if did a clean install after a wipe then either your wifi is borked or you didn't reset your router by unplugging it for a minute. might be your router depending on age and wear/tear

I did power off the wi-fi and it does work on the wi-fi. It just goes off for some reason. Again, if I toggle off the wi-fi and then toggle back on, it might work for several hours before it doesn't work again. Also, it shows full signal strength in the status bar. Then, toggle off and back on and I'm good to go again for several hours.
I'm having this exact same issue so it doesn't seem to be isolated to just your phone. However, to get my wifi working again I actually need to reboot the phone as turning the wifi off and on again doesn't resolve the connectivity problem for me. I'm curious as to what would cause this, my roommate also has the Rezound using the current ICS leak, non-rooted (I'm non-rooted as well) and he doesn't seem to have any issues with his wifi connection.
FYI for me it isn't isolated to just one wifi network, happens to me on any wifi network I try so it seems to be directly related to the phone and not a router config problem.
What type of security settings are you using on your router? I used to have the same problems that you are having until I changed it to WEP.

Yuk... that really can't be the issue... if it is, you need to replace your router.
Stock Rom and everything I connect to is WPA2 without issues.
Occasionally the phone drops WiFi (like it gets turned off), but then it is using 3G/4G. Not sure why it does that, but it does. Doesn't prevent data access unless you have to 3G/4G access at the time. It doesn't do what the OP is reporting though.
I finally for the first time went from gingerbread AND rooted/flashed a new rom to my i777. AOKP has me happy in every way except that wifi doesnt work. According to the AOKP FAQ wifi should work on new builds, but if it doesnt I'm told to:
Go to \system\etc\wifi
In nvram_net.txt change ccode=GB --> ccode=US
In nvram_net.txt_murata change ccode=GB --> ccode=US
Reboot
Thing is those .txt ccode values were already set to US. I also heard that a guy turned off mobile data then wifi worked, tried that as well with no success. Given that idk what to do next.
The wifi simply attempts to get the ip address and when it does begin doing that the signal for wifi drops to one bar even though I am next to the router and it was full prior to said attempt at ip acquisition.

then you haven't even rebooted your device after a fresh flash. wifi works perfectly. this is either something you've done wrong or you haven't taken the 10 seconds it takes to reboot your device. you're posting a non-issue.
Of course I have rebooted. I rebooted last night after the flash (reboot #1). Then I turned my phone off after a few hours as I don't leave it on overnight (reboot #2). Lastly prior to making this thread I tried turning off mobile data, rebooting with it off and then attempting to get onto the wifi, and again with no success (reboot #3).
Full wipe, reflash.
Wifi works fine. think might have issues with hidden networks, dont have one so I cant comment or speculate, just hearsay.
full wipe. reflash.
Thanks!
edit: never mind. I did the full wipe and flash. It worked until I toggled wifi off and now it wont connect even after several reboots.

if it is defective then why would it work on gingerbread just fine for the months that I have had it? Also why would it after following Motomudder's advice would it work up untill I toggled it off?
I tried one more full wipe and reflash, this time it didn't work at all, unlike last time where it worked when I was greeted by the "welcome to andriod sign in blah blah blah intro" screen.
I think there is more to it than simply my i777 being "defective."
Did one last full wipe and reflash, did a few reboots with mobile data off and now it works.
I'm no programmer so idk what was up, but now it is working, and I am very happy. Thank you Moto for your help. :good:
Lesson learned.
Try to full wipe and reflash multiple times if those first few tries didn't work.
After a few searches, I still can't find any posts about the exact issue I'm having with my WiFi.
Often my WiFi won't connect to my routers I have saved when I turn it on or leave one location and enter another. It will just sit at scanning until the moment I open the WiFi settings menu, then it suddenly finds routers. I can let it sit for a long time and it still won't find anything until I click the settings, then they pop up and connect automatically like they should.
Is this a common issue, or is i just my X2?
What ROM/android version number are you running? Need more data to tell you what is going on.
It's been no matter what ROM. CM9, Eclipse, stock, it's always done it. Not every time, but randomly hit and miss.
There is a known issue with CM7 not staying connected to wifi, but that was fixed with CM9.
That issue shouldn't happen on stock though. It almost sounds like a hardware issue in your case.
That's what I was wondering. It's been the same since I've had it, and has never gotten worse, so I've just lived with it.
Droid X2 > Eclipse 2.2.1 > Tapatalk
Yeah I can confirm this, mine does the exact same thing.
I don't get the disconnects that some people do (I may be using a patch related to the wifi sleep policy, I can't remember which roms that applies to), but it does the thing where it suddenly connects when you open settings, or the pulldown toggle only works half the time, or if you toggle it and then go to settings it can't actually find any networks.

Hi
I'm a first time poster here
I'm having a problem with the wifi on my s3. I've searched the forums but the problems see to be different.
I can install a rom and when it goes through the initial account setup. when i get to the wifi i see my home network strong signal. i tap it and put in the password and it disappears, leaving me with my network not in range. Which is strange because it's working fine on this laptop.
i did the power saving turn off via *#0011# - no luck
i've wiped and reinstalled numerous times. each time i can tap on my network before it vanishes
Please point me in the right direction

the most recent one is, GT-I9300_WanamLite.Deodexed.XXEMC2.NO-WIPE, as i read in another thread that this fixed someone elses problem.
i've also used the cyanogen 10.1.3
one more try one more fail
Just tried android revolution rom. same problem
it picks up some networks, very low signal, but not the home router it is on top of. i can turn the wifi on and off and occasionally get a glimpse of my home network, but then it disappears.
really frustrating as i can't log into my google account and download contact info. makes the phone almost useless
Wipe phone flash your original stock rom or its update and test .

I upgraded my phone to KK back in late december and have been on it ever since but one problem has plagued me since then and I'm hoping to get some insight here. heres the problem...
When im connected to wifi (and this is only with wifi, not MD) I don't get my push notifications (gmail,fb,words, hangouts, etc) when the screen is off.Often i turn my screen on and get a barrage of notifications that i should have gotten hours ago. Ive tried all the sleep modes and Ive tried turning off wifi optimization.Nothing works and I know for fact it did not do this on JB.
I DO get text messages and phone calls instantly though but nothing else will wake my phone up. While i do enjoy the deep sleep, i would like to get my notifications in a reasonable amount of time without having to turn the phone on to check them.
Has anyone else had this "problem"?
Nope. Have you looked into what is and isn't checked in your Google Settings? There's a Play Games tab that allows you to mute certain games, essentially stopping their notifications. I don't suppose you've messed with that, have you?
It's strange, I've not really heard of this, especially since you're getting texts and such.

Yeah i know and I've googled it to death for a few months now. I'll check g settings but idk why that would stop gmail. It's like when I'm on Wi-Fi w/ the screen off its just a plain old dumb phone. I turn the screen on and the notifications just flood in.
Edit: nothing in g settings is muted. The only thing i can think of is i don't have app data synced in accounts.
I think i figured it out. I had "sync app data" unchecked in accounts. So far I've been getting notifications screen on and off. Now if someone will just play back to me on wwf...
EDIT: i may have spoke too soon. It still doesnt wake up without turning on my screen

I did when I was using Omni and it worked great. I haven't used it since running RR, however.
So you're wifi connected, and have actively turned mobile data off? I have never even tried that...
If, however, you mean that this happens only when you're connected to WiFi, then no, I have not experienced this issue.
The only other setting that I can think of that pertains to sync is in system settings > Data usage > settings > [ ] auto-sync data, but I don't think that would cause the awake-vs-sleep sync issues that you're describing.
I used to use Active display, I currently use AcDisplay, I'll likely go back to using the baked-in active display.

No i never turn mobile data off. I just meant that notifications come as expected when I'm on mobile data but on Wi-Fi, once the phone hits deep sleep (<a minute) i won't get notifications unless i turn the screen on.
I ask about active display because i remember when on resurrection ROM i was using it and getting notifications then and kind of forgot about it but I'm on PAC 4.4 now and it's doing it again. However i was using the init.d scripts they have baked in but have them all turned back off now to see if that fixes it.
It's the strangest thing I've seen. It's like when I'm on Wi-Fi and turn the screen off it just disconnects from all data even though i can plainly see that it is not. Angela has the same phone with the same settings as mine but on RR 5.0.5 and she gets notifications fine.
@cyril279 I knnow this is off topic but have you tried this AD app? Its got some other features/customizations that aren't on the built in AD
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.greatbytes.activenotifications
That was actually one of the first active-display variants that I tried. It worked well, but there were a couple hiccups that kept me shopping. The add-on AD clones have great features, but they don't play well with the stock lockscreen, or they leave the [home] button active, or involve significant lag when evoking the notification. The baked-in clones operate fluidly, but without the cool-stuff. I haven't tried active notifications recently though, maybe the updates have smoothed things out. I'm definitely down to try it again.
AcDisplay's development has been re-directed by Motorola. It's still my favorite of the clones, the beta version is boss, but it still isn't as fluid as the built-in boring-ol Omni AD.

[SOLVED] Not Receiving Notifications on WiFi
My suspicions have paid off!! I started suspecting my router was the culprit so i pulled out my old netgear2400 and hooked it up and low and behold my notifications starting lighting my phone up again!!
The problem was the Xfinity router that came from comcast. Apparently it was closing the "heartbeat" line to stay connected when the screen was off before the heartbeat would send again, if that makes sense.
For the time being I'm going to just use my netgear router BUT I was able to fix the problem with the Xfinity router by using an app called Push Notification Fixer. Just install it, follow the instructions, and set the WIFI/mobile data heartbeat to the recommended settings. If that don't work start shortening the heartbeat time. It'll make sense when you see the app.
Hope this helps someone else along the way. I went a LONG WAY down the google rabbit hole before I figured this one out.
Great news, glad it was an easy fix!

Great news! Now you just need to install DD-wrt on your router and turn it from a $40 router to a $400. I know you like to tinker but check it out. ITs free and its just firmware for certain routers. It turned my old wrt54g into a baus

I'm having the same issue with KitKat CM11 ROM on my HP Touchpad (which is WiFi only), and will have to try this. Notifications come in instantly on my iPhone/iPads, but my Touchpad gets some serious delays...sometimes right away, and sometimes delayed.
By the way, did "Sync App Data" setting for an account have anything to do with push notifications, or is that more for backup purposes?

Oh darn, mine is still delayed even with the push notification fixer installed and WiFi heartbeat at 5min. Even after I've just rebooted my Touchpad, actively using it, and not even 5 minutes has passed. Delay was 8 minutes and then the notifications came streaming in.
With Android/KitKat, do you have to have the app open in the background for push notifications to go thru? Or run the app at least once after a reboot?
