I have a very odd problem with my Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE (SCH-I905) which have not seen described anywhere that I hope someone can help me with. I am no longer seeing any signal bars instead the area has an x on it. Despite this I can use the Verizon Network and the 4G icon appears. When I look at the strength of the signal it say it is -120. This seems mainly cosmetic since I have always been able to use the 4G network and the speed seems normal. I am able to watch videos without any problems.
I cannot relate this to adding any app to my Tablet. My tablet is now rooted but I am running stock ICS 4.04 on it. This did not change when I rooted the phone. I tried removing most of the recent apps that I have added but this makes no difference. It seemed like this happened periodically before the phone was rooted. It worked fine immediately after I rooted the phone but a couple of weeks afterwards I no longer can see any bars on the cell signal meter, only no bars and an X.
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Michael
I had the same issue with rooted stock 4.04. The bars would only show when I was in 3G coverage and 4G icon would show with no bars when in 4G coverage.
Still have the problem with Infamous 1.8.0.

This seems to happen when I go from an area with a good 4G connection into a subway tunnel or an area with very poor connection. It hangs on this for about 30 secs before ultimately realizing that there is no network connection whatsoever.
I haven't seen this (or perhaps never noticed) on stock GB. I didn't have stock ICS long enough to know if this were the case on Motorola's OTA. I started noticing that my phone showed full 4G connection for around half a minute, when in subway tunnels/other areas with very poor connection in general, while I was using spc_hicks09's cm9 ROM, but I never actually checked the signal strength in settings. I thought that it was some bug that was present in all CM9 ROMs for Razr. Now I am running, mattlgroff's arctic ROM and I am still having the same problem I first saw in the CM9 ROM. This time around I checked the settings and saw that the 4G was registering 2147483647dBm
I haven't seen this reported by anyone else. 4G works well otherwise along with 3G and 1X (yuck!). Incidentally, a quick search shows that 2147483647 is "The largest positive value of a signed integer on a 32 bit operating system." Maybe related?
Recently I fastboot .211 and updated to .215 while keeping to stock and root - I still see this problem.
Thoughts?
confirmed
Have seen this response at home which is definitely a fringe area for 4G (maybe 2 to 5 % of the time with a marginal 4G signal balance 3G).
Happens just before 4G drops out completely. No ill effects observed.
Is it causing you issues? I am only getting 3G and 1X but whenever I'm in the bigger cities, I will get LTE for a few minutes but then 2147483647 dBm comes up in the signal strength in the testing menu and that's where the LTE goes away for good. It won't come back unless I toggle airplane mode on/off and it comes back but occasionally connects. Does the same thing on Latest Stock ROM. Started about a month and a half ago. When did it start for you?
Sorry dude I no longer have this phone

I had this happen 2x today on galsxy s20
Hi all,
This question might have been posted already seeing as this phone is about a year old already. I'm running the STOCK ICS ROM OTA 4.0.4 unrooted. I've noticed that after the update my phone keeps switching from 4G to 3G and back but the problem is so bad that I lose every bar of signal (i.e. empty bars and of course no data) for at least a minute when the phone switches. I've already gone through the process of getting a replacement phone and I will need another because the receiver (speaker inside when I make a phone call, not sure what its really called) sounds awfully tinny and when the hang up tone plays the speaker sounds like its about to blow out. I lowered the in call volume to half, but it still doesn't work and my phone sounds tinny when ever someone talks during a phone call. I never had that problem with my old RAZR. As for the data issue, I am aware that I live in an old building because at the most I get between 3-4 bars of 4G LTE but sometimes as low as 2 bars. However, outside on the street I get full bars of 4G LTE and it still switches back to 3G on it's own. I have tried Motorola's restore connectivity app on the play store but that didn't work and I don't have anything like smart actions or LTE on/off app running on my phone.
Is anybody else having these issues? At first I thought Verizon sucks in my house but it doesn't I still get crystal clear sound on calls and text messages are promptly sent and received. I also, of course, live in a 4G LTE area with good solid coverage. As a control I have an iPad 4G LTE with Verizon on a separate account and it consistently stays connected to LTE. It never drops below 2 bars and the LTE of course maintains its fast speed. On the other hand, the RAZR, will switch between both technologies at least 5 times a day if not more. I know that they both have different radio technologies but they should at least be similar in some respect. I have also seen an iPhone 5 at the Verizon Corportate kiosk at my local mall. It's obvious there are repeaters but they are not for 4G because none of the phones are on 4G, they are on 3G. The iPhone 5, however, had one bar of LTE and it loaded up a web page just fine and I never saw it drop back down to 3G. I'm trying to see if there is a solution. Have any of the Jellybean ROMs addressed this issue?
The Motorola Moto E 2015 4G LTE that I have has a weird issue, it will not allow me to use the internet on my home wifi at all. It will be connected but, no internet traffic is there. There are times wifi will work, but in 30 minutes, a little exclamation mark appears by the wifi symbol. My sister has the same phone as me and has no issues as well. She had gotten her phone about 2 months prior before I got mine. She has no issue using wifi on our home network. I have power cycled my router, updated my firm ware and reset it to no avail.
On a slightly unrelated note, my data does not work at all either 4G LTE, 3G or EDGE, none of it works. My sister on the other hand, has no issue at all.
The phones were purchased through the same company, they are the same color, (if you realy wanted to know) and they are about the same age, (mine is 5 months newer.) I got mine this January, she got her phone in September. It is running Android 5.1 and it is surnia not otus.
Please Help
Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me with a really annoying problem concerning 4G.
First of all, you need to know that I am using a Telcel SIM card. On Stock ROM apparently I have 4G, but testing the connection speed and comparing it with my mom's S5, it has 3G speed, not 4G, even though the 4G symbol appears on the status bar.
Until yesterday I was using Resurrection Rom, but I decided to go back to stock to see if it solved the problemsI had not only with 4G, but for network in general. I did and I have been testing it, to no avail. I still have issues. Since I first flashed Resurrection, 4G never showed up, just 3G. Also, I travelled this vacation and with all the movement my cellphone switched from 3G to 2G (and didn't switch back unless I mess a little with the operators (is that the name?)) and sometimes it didn't have any coverage at all! Meanwhile, my mom had no problems (she has a G900-F, with native Telcel).
Also, when I switch to 3G-only the 4G symbol still shows.
What is the problem? And, more importantly, how can I solve it?
Edit: I added some attachments.
Attachment 1: This is from my S5. You can see the 4G symbol but the speed is 3G-like.
Attachment 2: From my mom's S5 in 4G.
Attachment 3: My mom's S5 in 3G.
This is a strange one as iam not having any issue with 4G as such but have noticed some strange behaviour!
For the most part i seem to only get 1 bar of signal (although everything works fine / fast enough) If i put my sim card in my iphone however then i consistently have full bars / signal strength! I understand each device measures signal strength differently but iam doubting that Full signal strength on he iphone is the equivalent to 1 bar on Samsung?
Another strange feat is that as soon as i make a call, Like literally within 2 seconds of pressing the call button, the signal jumps to full and stays there until the call has ended and then drops again! The opposite happens when connected to wifi. If iam lucky enough to have more then 2 bars and i connect to wifi, it immediately drops to 1 bar!
Ironically web pages etc are all loading fine and everything seems ok but it def seems strange also! Anyone else having any issues?
When you make a phone call the phone switches from 4g to 3g or even 2g whichever is available because 4g is only used for data afaik and that's why the signal jumps to full bars. That is normal.
If everything else is OK I would leave it alone

Ah ok yeah everything is working fine! It just bugs me seen only 1 bar or 2 most but seemingly its because iam using 4g plus which is faster then 4g! Some guy i spoke to told me that 2 bars of 4g plus is better then 5 bars of standard 4g
I was just concerned and worrying as ive read lots about the s9 having issues with 4g
