Manufacturing date for carrier unlock? - AT&T LG Optimus G

Does anyone know how to determine when my phone was made? Want to unlock it but don't want to break any laws. I know my original LGOG was pre-ban, but I recently got a replacement device.

You might have to remove the back cover.

Don't worry about it. I've superCID'd every smartphone I have ever had merely because it's easy and it's handy while traveling in a side that isn't stateside. Att either doesn't notice, or they don't care since I haven't missed or been late on their bills since I opened the account in '03. I stick tmous and straight talk sims in it sometimes just to see if supercid persists through all the wipes and lgnpsting. So far so good.

And how would I do that?

I used something like cell unlocker.net that was linked here last year.

Yeah I just went on ebay. $1.95, had the code in about 3 minutes. Worked as expected. Now to unlock the wife's xperia ion. That's considerably more expensive.

When my friend sold his on Craigslist it got $125, but I reverted it back to a custom stock firmware so that all original features worked (ex. Webtop).

It also depend on the location, I still see people with the atrix for 150 to high as 300 on craigslist.. If I sold mine would be between 100 and 150.. but to me the atrix is worth more so im keeping it..

We have an amazing phone, it's more powerful than all of the phones out right now, has decent battery life, decent reception, and doesn't look half bad - it's the tail end of the last generation of phones. It's nothing to be ashamed of. And we'll have a fully working CM very soon too. Yeah, the One is nice and all, but really this phone is a beast that's gonna stand on its own for quite a while. Top-of-the-line phones always lose their crown eventually.
yeah, we couldn't order DNA's anymore back in my store lol...guess she's dunzo.
I like my DNA. I don't think its worth it to get an HTC One because the screen is smaller, and no QI wireless charging(But when will i ever use it?) The DNA seems to be almost the same size. I can care less about the front speakers, but more storage is better. My DNA is smooth enough. The One's camera seems cool, and UI looks nice(but we may get an update). Hopefully we get a DNA+ instead.
Here's more on it from Android Central

To answer a question above yes we will still see updates. The og incredible and charge got an update recently for crying out loud and those have been retired for over a year. I can bet however our sense 5 update just got pushed back. Hopefully not the usual Verizon time frame where we don't see it until 2014.

I like my DNA. Just hope the Htc one doesn't turn out to have issues like TB. Htc seems in a bit of a rush to put out more phones that are not super updated phones over the last model. I like the DNA screen size. Not real concerned with speakers as DNA sounds great with external speaker. Camera is fine, I will live with the camera till next upgrade. More storage would be nice but now not a deal breaker. Sounds like Htc is taking after motorola same phone some minor changes.! doesnt have me in a rush for a new phone as wtf another version is just around the corner in a few months lol. Just think of what will be out 2 yrs from now!!!!!

Is that even an option with Verizon? As far as I knew they didn't sell any unlocked devices nor did they allow them to be connected to their network, but I could be wrong.
Anyway, I'd personally go for the Moto X or LG G2. But if you're feeling risky, wait until the release of the Nexus 5 and see if Verizon decides to carry it or not. Google and Verizon have had a tumultuous relationship over the past years, to say the least.
I'm leaving Verizon for T-Mobile and an unlocked Nexus 5 in January. I'm liking what I'm seeing out of T-Mobile and what the future holds for them as they continue to rapidly expand their 4G LTE network. Plus $70/mo for unlimited talk/text/data is unbeatable.

They just announced developer editions of both the moto x and droid maxx today, so things are looking up. The g2 was where I was leaning until I started to see how some of the Dev community was receiving it. I was hoping to get something with top specs AND Dev support too.

So um.. I'm leaving (possibly)

Yeah, hi there. Some of you might know me. Due to my unfortunate experiences with this device (mainly my seemingly impossible bootloader that I've tried twenty different ways), I'm considering getting a new device. In particular, a Windows Phone. I hate Microsoft and I really like Android, but I'm willing to drop a few hundred dollars on a WP after this. Due to the bootloader on this device, there isn't much for us to develop and contribute.. Other then help others with the bootloader. Everything seems to be about that and helping people who messed up the flashing. So I just wanted to say that I might be leaving soon. I'll still be here if you need anything ^-^

I echo all of your sentiments. It's just disappointing.
I just left the L9 for the G2, and It's night and day. Seems like LG has no problems listening to users for the top shelf phones, but could care less about the mid to low end ones.
Yeah the G2 is beautiful. I'm not sure what phone I'll get next but I'll be sticking with the android camp. Was fortunate to unlock the bootloader. I didn't have a choice but to get this one, and if I did, I probably would've chose the Nexus 4.
Sent from my LG-P769 using Tapatalk
I hear you
My model is unlockable but mine specifically i never succed in unlocking.. My new phone is already comming, a Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE. I'm not sure i will install any custom ROMs but at least i will have the chance to try them on. Right now i'm stucked with L9 locked and ICS. Really desapointing. I hope soon all phones will have an option to the user to unlock their bootloader, because HEY, I WANT to lost my warranty and install anything i want, its MY phone, right?
Thanks for your contributing with us along your L9 lifetime. Good luck next time for us all
So you hate Microsoft and love Android, and you will buy a WP. Nice logic there
Jokes aside, the fact that you had a bad experience with an unlockable bootloader doesnt mean that every other phone will be the same. Also with WP you wont be able to change anything aside from the color and the size of the tiles, which is very sad. Just go with a Nexus or a investigate a bit about the scene of the device before you buy it. I had a Moto Defy with locked bootloader before my L9-P778g (which i unlocked very easily) but i even managed to make a ROM for it by myself. Heck, it even haves more ROMs than the L9 with an unlocked bootloader... So you should not be so drastic and chage a restricted device for a even more restricted one with a restrictive OS....

Exactly this. ANY android phone manufacturer will lock their bootloader upon carrier request. Samsung does it, HTC does it, Sony does it, Motorola does it. I have the t mobile version of the l9, yeah the bootloader was a pain in the ass to unlock but the phone was very much worth the $180 I paid for it.

(Possibly) Coming Soon - Baked ROM

So guys hi for those of you who know me and those of you who don't. Tomorrow I am due to pick up a new phone for an upgrade at Best Buy. The Galaxy Note 3 is by far the biggest and best phone I have seen specs for. Prior to, I was a device maintainer for Team Baked on the Nexus S 4G. I was doing research as to find a device I can assist bringing the Baked Rom to. According to This article, Cyanogenmod will be releasing nightlies for this device and include open source. This in turn opens a door for our team to do what we do to provide this fantastic rom on this device. I look forward to try and serve you guys for the next few years with listening to feedback and see what we can do to ultimately make this the top inverted running machine you can get your hands on. My team's webpage is Here
Look forward to it

I want to apologize ahead of time because I kind of jumped the gun out of excitement. It is really going to depend when I get to best buy what kind of deal they will be giving me for this device, because as far as I know through Sprint, it will be $350 unless Best Buy has this phone on sell. This phone is my 1st pick, of course, but if I don't end up getting it, I will be getting the LG G2 which is on sale with an upgrade for $50 so fingers crossed and I will change the title of this thread to Possible, I apologize once again ahead of time.

I understand that but it all comes down to money in the end, money I don't have at that and getting a new phone compared to the refurbished evo 4g i had a few weeks ago is a lot better. I would really like this phone but I thought the phone would be completely free for upgrading and it unfortunately might not be, regardless, if, when we start development on this rom again, whichever device I get, this device should get our rom even if I am not the maintainer for it.

Note 3 has no problem getting calls in Phoenix while on lte and the LG G2 and nexus 5 etc have lots of problems . Plus say you are downloading a 1.7 gb rom and get a call on a LG G2 it will fail because it disconnects you from lte to re connect to cdma ... When sprint upgrades all towers to circuit fall back it will still suck to have only one path for data voice etc .... I used LG G2 for a week and gave it to my nephew . I am not saying it's not a good phone but on sprint right now it's not a good phone

I agree with you somewhat on the previous statement but also the download just pause on incoming call and then you could resume it later so it would still pick up where you left off biggest problem I have is trying to get baked fully working because the CM 11 nightlies are not fully there yet and that has to do with the switching of bands so on the cm 11 nightlies you can't make a phone call or send mms on LTE yet
