New Android update destroyed my SD card and MTP - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys,
I have the Galaxy S3 International edition, which is the (GT-I9300) and just today I received the new android update. I know you guys did too.
When it was SUCCESSFULLY updated, it was kinda slow to start, but it worked fine. After it was done booting. I opened the images and I found all the music, photos, and videos of the SD card has been erased. When I checked the SD card in the settings it says TOTAL Memory: 7.8MB.. How is that possible I have 16G! How did 16G turn to only 7.8MB...
I said OK, let me do a recover and try to fix this. When I put the S3 on the computer. It says driver failed. Both my computers cannot find the MTP of the phone. What did this new update do?.. It completely killed my phone.
Please help me, I want all my erased stuff back and most important the 16G back on the SD card.
Is anyone else having this Problem?

[Q] Is there any way to ignore the internal SD memory in Samsung GT-I9003?

Hi everyone,
First things first, sorry if this was covered somewhere else in the forums, I really didn't find this question anywhere so I "had" to post this.
I got my Samsung GT-I9003 4GB a month ago, and everything was working perfectly until 3 days ago. It starts showing an "Internal SD card unexpectedly removed" error whenever the phone goes standby, then it forces me to terminate processes one after another, and finally it shuts down. I hadn't done any kind of ROM flashing nor rooting the device until the problems arose, so I don't know where the problem comes from.
I've tried to re-flash froyo 2.2.1 in my device, but the problem keeps showing up.
I found in this forums this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1088474) covering the possibility of swapping both internal memory and external SD. It works great, but I still had problems with the "external SD card" being "unexpectedly removed"...
It crossed my mind if it was possible to modify the vold.fstab file further to only detect the external SD card as the internal memory and ignore the internal memory, as if it wasn't even on the phone. I don't know if that's even possible (since I don't know much about file systems nor Android), but I'd appreciate your thoughts on the matter.

Was having the exact same problem with a further twist, the issue occured almost every half an hour at office and very rarely at home. Tried a factory reset and also GB update via Kies. Problem was still present, so have given it to samsung service and the service rep informed me that it was most likely a motherboard issue.
Recently one of my friends had the same issue. Samsung service center replaced the motheboard and the issue seems to be resolved.

[Q] [q] help!!! Phone says sd card is damaged & needs to be formated.

My friend has a SAMSUNG GALAXY S II with SPRINT & this morning when he woke up the phone said that the SD Card is Damaged & needs to be FORMATTED. His phone is NOT ROOTED & currently running ICS. The SD Card was taken out & put back in but that did nothing, the Damaged message is still there. Is there anything that can be done to remedy this problem without FORMATTING the SD Card so that he is able to retrieve his information.
Thank You,

[Q] help with vold.fstab restoration

so im currently using a samsung i5510m on android 2.2.2. recently i rooted my phone so i could switch my external SD card as internal since the phone only carries around 150mb of data. so, after rooting the device i edited my vold.fstab file the way i saw on one of the posts on xda. all was well until i rebooted my device, after which it refused to recognize SD card. just to be sure that the card didn't get corrupted i used a card reader and plugged it into my PC, it loaded up with the files. i thought it could be fixed if i formatted the card and so i did.however it didn't fix the problem and neither did factory reseting the device. Ive tried adb commands but its all been useless since the it cannot access the card and neither the phone itself. Ive tried using my other SD cards too but the result is the same.
any help guys? how can i restore the vold.fstab to the way it was since i think thats the problem here?
thanks in advance

[Q] SD card is full (but, its not)

Hi,
another forum recommended I register and ask my question here. I am not a techie. I don't know what I'm doing. This is probably a basic question, but with all the googling I've done, I can't find the answer!
Here goes, and please be easy on me:laugh:
My GS3 was running really slow, running down the battery, just in general not running as well as I remembered from a year before buying it. I decided to back it up, reset it and start from scratch. The phone has run AWESOME! One problem though; when it updated, it installed 4.3. Ever since, I can't do anything with my SD card. I get an error that the SD card is full, and if I look in the settings, it shows zero space on the SD card. If I plug it into my mac, it shows like 12gb of space.
I used to use Android File Transfer and that doesn't work anymore. I recently tried Airdroid, which works great for the internal storage, but tells me that my SD card is full.
Help!
PS I tried to post a link to a screenshot of what storage on my phone looks like, but since I'm a noob, I'm not allowed
When you upgrade to android 4.3 it will change your storage partition from sdcard0 to emulated/0 ... simply it will change its partition so all your old files will not be visible there but they are still in your memory... I suggest you find your old files and move them to new directory... There are many threads on how to find your old files.. Search

SD Card can't mount on Android Device

Hey guys. As the title says, I've been having this problem since about 2 days ago and it happened after I was linking an app to my SD Card with Link2Sd. My device suddenly crashed and now every time I try to mount the card, it fails. Now my device also can't take pictures, can't download or save anything from anywhere except the Play Store. I tried factory resetting, formatting my SD Card and removing the second partition. I forgot to mention that only my device won't read my card. My PC and 2 of my friend's phones can read the card. My device is an SM-G532G, it's rooted and has TWRP. Would appreciate if someone knows how to fix this.
Thanks in advance ?
