Hi everydoby.
I actually use CM 10 but there are some lags and intempestive reboot. So i want to test another ROM. I tried Ultimate HD few month ago, and now i want to test it again, with it new features.
I tried a lot of different kernel (flykernel, lupus, xkernel, Alliance kernel ....) but i always have a black screen after boot or boot animation of the kernel (Sony logo for example) doesnt exist (black sceen and violet LED).
Maybe, its because i use wrong kernel. So, can you please link me a good kernel I can use?
Actually, my NEO (MT15I) is:
Android Version: 4.1.2
Baseband: ............. 203028G-77
Core Version: 2.6.32.9-FXP
CM10
Thanks in advance.

Going back to stock based ROMs requires flashing stock ftf first.
And then flashing the respective kernel and then the ROM.

No need dude just flash kernel and Rom.. Flashing ftf only required when you are facing difficulties
thx dudes for replyes.
I flashed 4.1.B.0.587 firware. Then i flashed kernel (lupus, flykernel or else) then i use recovery to flash the rom.
But i always have black screen (no logo on kernel, LED becomes violet) or boot loop (depend of kernel). This is why i want someone to tell me which kernel is sure to work with this rom, please.
I dont know if you understand what i need, i'm sorry for my bad english.

Yes i did. I did factory reset + wipe cache partition + wipe dalvik cache + wipe battery stat + format /system + /format and 2 others (i dont remember their title). I do that before after flashing kernel and before flashing ROM. Then, once ROM is installed, i do it again.

Mate the thing is after wiping and installing rom you jst have to install patch(if it exist-rom specific) and reboot. Why wipe everything again?

Try flashing stock ftf and then try this procedure on the stock kernel

Hey, I hope I can get some help here. I'm a total noob and I don't know if other similar threads apply to me. Anyway, I have a rooted Xperia Neo V, with ICS 4.0.3 and I used ROM Manager app to casually flash the "Xperia Pureness" ROM I downloaded. I didn't do a full wipe because I was too stupid to look at the instructions. Is this fixable?

Thank you. At some point the instructions require that I enter *#06# on my phone but I can't boot, it gets stuck at the Sony logo. Is this step necessary?
as can be interpreted u have a unlocked bootloader( i guess that's right)

I used SEUS to install stock rom . Now its working but all apps are gone.
so i can install any custom rom? Also did this happen because i didnt wipe dalvik cache bfore installing the rom.

Ya ..you can install custom ROMS now i hope u hv boot loader unlocked ..head over to the Neov development section and download the ROM you want ..Follow the instructions really carefully while installing ROMS
And the answer of your second question is NO. When installing stock ROM or repairing it all apps and setting are gone nothing to do with wipe dalvik cache
Problem persists
So i tried installing pureness once more, this time i made sure i wiped davik cache. Same problem stuck at SONY and so had to revert to stock once more. I havent unlocked BL yet. Is it necessary for installing Pureness. Also can somebody tell me if i am doing it right.
1) used flash tool to downgrade to .562
2)rooted using Doomlords tool
3)Used flash tool to upgrade back to .431
4)Installed cwm auto installer apk from google play
5)Installed cwm
6)Booted into recovery
7)Made a backup
8)Used install from zip option to install Pureness
9) reboot and its stuck
Cant even access cwm since its stuck at that point , so i cant use the backup also right.
First, flash a specific kernel for that ROM.. Look for the link for kernels in the above post!
Flash the kernel first.. Reboot into recovery... Wipe data, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache... And then install zip from sd card!
Reboot your phone! You'll be done now!
flashing kernel
I am guessing for flashing the kernel , i have to unlock bootloader.
You didn't unlock your bootloader?!
You definitely can't flash a custom kernel without unlocking it!
I suggest you go with the official Sony's way..
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
BL
but that will void my warranty right and i will no longer be able to use SEUS for reveting to stock.
Yea.. That would void your warranty!
But unlocking the bootloader will allow to install custom ROMs which shall be very fast and smooth as compared to the stock one... and I don't think you'll revert back to stock!
Though relocking can be done but you won't be able to update your phone through over the air updates!
It's your choice!
1. Unlock bootloader using sony's,
Method
2. Flash the custom kernel
3. Get into CWM
4.wipe delvic/data/battery stat
5. Install custom rom
6. Install gapps(if necessary)
7.wipe delvic
8. Reboot
That are common steps
Also use the recommended kernel by the developer
Also follow his instruction...if in doubt serch if still confused post here

Mods ftw
I dont want to unlock bootloader now. Presently having fun with different mods . Once i get tired of them , will try unlocking. Please suggest some useful mods.Currently installed Romcontrol by jjdoctor and walkman for ICS by thilinac.

The data has to be wiped when you install a custom ROM.. Since some of the data can cause troubles to the new ROM you have installed..
I advice you to do the following when installing a ROM.. Follow step by step..
- Flash the kernel first
- Boot into CWM mode by pressing 'volume down'
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache partition
- wipe dalvik cache
- install custom zip from sd card i.e your custom ROM zip file
- reboot now
there you go now!
PS. Data formatting has to be done in CWM mode and it will not erase your sd data! So relax!
Also, press 'Thanks' if I helped you!

- install custom ROM zip from sdcard (with no ERROR reports or problem during flashing)
- reboot into system
and chill bro. i have problem here, and i ask about it because i dont know what to do.
and fastboot folder must placed in android-sdk folders or it is not necessary?
bump
Are you sure the kernels are compatible with the custom ROM you are using? Usually the developer suggests some ROMs. Also, you might need a different baseband for the kernels you are using. Which ROM are you using? Some have extra steps you have to perform.

Only boot.img has to be placed in android sdk folder.

Sorry I'm not awake today. Boot.img must be in android sdk and only the fastboot.exe file. I doubt it's got anything to do with that though, if you can successfully flash kernels.

HEY EVEN I HAD THE SAME SAME PROBLEM BEFORE...its was that i followed all the steps n still was stuck at bootlogo
even if i tried to go to recovery n flash the rom again , it simply said CANNOT MOUNT SD CARD.
So I tried to format my sd card using SDFORMATTER 3.1 and flashed the om again and  it WORKED
SO BASICALLY TRY TO FORMAT THE SD CARD USING SD FORMATTER software and not the windows default one.
IT WORKED FOR ME AND HOPE IT WILL FOR YOU ALSO
SD CARD FORMATTER 3.1 link google it

Dont panic.
First install a new kernel image, like Suave Kernel Suave Kernel
This will install also a CWM. After, install a new ROM in CWM.
I´m using Pureness, but requires a different kernel than Suave. But you can follow the instructions of Suave Kernel:
Steps:
1. Power down device and get into FASTBOOT MODE -> switch off device hold menu key & plugin usb. (LED notification turns BLUE)
2. check fastboot with "fastboot devices"
3. flash boot image
fastboot flash boot boot.img
4. Reboot with "fastboot reboot"
Before install a new rom, be sure to wipe all information in cache, dalvik and system partitions, as in the instructions (from Pureness):
1.Factory reset in cwm
2.wipe cache partition
3.wipe dalvik cache
4.Format /system (in mounts and storage)
5.Format /cache
6.Format /Data
7.Install rom zip
8.Reboot now and you are done !
1. Always flash kernels before installing custom roms
2.always wipe phone completely (cache,dalvik,data...)
3. Not all kernels are compatible with all roms, so read each dev post carefully, and then flash corresponding kernels.
^as he said, first wipe all the kinds of data's before installing any new ROM & remember to take backup always.

thanx everebody for support ..
i did not flash a kernel .. so this is the problem as i've understood ...
i've entered to cwm by hotboot method :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1681940
and flashed jj hybrid rom ... and it worked with the stock kernel ...
so next time if i want to flash a custom rom i have to flash a compatible kernel first ..
thanx again ..
I have problems like this case:

Hey guys,
I have a installation problem. I'm not a noob at all, but I don't get the trick.
At the first boot, I only get the "Sony" screen and nothing happens any more.
What I have done:
1. I've flashed the 4.0.4 ftf file (MT11i 4.1.B.0.431 ICS Customized Central Europe 3 1255-1494 - is this the right one?)
2. Then I have rooted the phone again and installed the newest CWM.
3. Wiped only Dalvik Cache in CWM
4. Installed KA20.1, in Aroma choosen the custom installation for Neo V, ... no wipe... Installed .. sucessfull.
5. Reboot - hangs at "Sony" screen.
How long does the first boot take? Am I doing anything wrong? Do I need to install another kernel?
When I pull the battery, start again and try to enter CWM (press & release Vol down often) only the "Sony" screen appears..like normal boot.
Thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Tommi

Important! Only for unlocked bootloader
- Update Flashtool to latest version
- Flash any stock based 4.0.4 rom or official ftf with Flashtool Skip this step if you are already on a 4.0.4 stock based rom
- Go into recovery and do advanced => wipe dalvik cache and factory reset
- install my rom

So 2.6.32.9-perf kernel has to be consistent?
your kernel is stock kernel.change to custom kernel in example suave kernel or shardul kernel.

But at the topic of krabappel2548 did not mention the other kernel installed. I want to find out the real reason why it is stuck at the Sony screen.
I did all the steps correctly.

Download your xperia mini pro ginger bread ftf
Flash it using flashtool
And boot up to gingerbread os. The touch will work now
Now flash the kernel and then the rom of your choice.
When ever your touch stops working. Just chill and flash the official ginger bread firmware (ftf file) by sony

use the ics-ftf gb is outdated. also flashing stock.ics.ftf is a requirement for LX.
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/35239?tstart=0
after u flashed t just install LX like this (dont do more ; not less !)
- place ROM.zip & gapps ON SD
- power off device, flash KERNEL inside ROM zip
- in mounts & storage format: /system /data /cache
- install ROM & gapps
-boot that sh*t XD
good luck too u.
