I've seen several similar threads and I've tried pretty much everything.
The problem is simple. I woke up this morning with my phone plugged in the charger, stuck in a reboot loop. It boots to the Samsung logo and then restarts.
The phone was rooted a long time ago and was running the following software:
- ROM: GT-I9300_XEO_I9300XXELKC_I9300OXXELK4_I9300XXELKC
- ROOT: CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4
Download and recovery mode works just fine, and I've been able to backup the date on the phone.
Download mode info:
- ODIN MODE
- PRODUCT NAME: GT-19300
- CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (4 counts)
- CURRENT BINARY: Custom
- SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
What I've tried:
- Updated CWM to: recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.3.1-i9300
- Flashed to cm-10.1-20130621-NIGHTLY-i9300
- Flashed to cm-9.1.0-i9300
- Reflashed the old ROM I was currently using
- Factory reset of phone
- Cleared cache + dalvik cache
Yet, the problem persists (no changes in behavior at all).
So, am I out of luck here?
Thanks in advance.

what about flashing stock rom through odin? you really don't need to flash CM 9 roms because they might have SDS threat!

Can you boot into recovery?? I don t think the recovery that comes with CF-Root 6.4 is SDS safe.
EDIT : - I see you can boot into recovery. Flash your original ROM using recovery and reboot to stock recovery and wipe data.
Also, can you acknowledge whether you had insane chip or not??
After trying several other ROMs I was finally able to get past the Samsung logo with the following stock ROM:
I9300XXEME2_I9300TENEME2_TEN
So I guess it was just a matter of finding a ROM that could properly reset everything. Thanks for making me try more ROMs!

Hello! Third day in the row I'm unsuccessfully trying to flash my SGS2 I9100 to Cyanogenmod 7.
Original firmware on my device:
Baseband version: I9100XXKI4
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XWKI8
Android version: 2.3.5
OS: Windows x64
Steps I have performed:
1) Flashed CF-Root kernel to get root and CWM (4.0.0.2) using Odin 1.85
2) Performed nandroid backup
3) Downloaded Cyanogenmod 7 Nightly build 116 and gapps and put them to internal sdcard's root directory
4) Rebooted in recovery mode
5) Performed data/factory reset, cache partition and dalvik cache wipe
6) Installed zip from sdcard.
It says installation complete. No error messages. Device reboots.
And here goes the most interesting part - device goes to Samsung Galaxy S2 screen with yellow triangle and keeps rebooting.
It doesn't stuck on this screen and it never reaches Cyanogenmod screen. Just boot loop.
Notes:
-Problem with getting CM7 itself, not with restoring after just another boot loop.
-Searched on forum and google before creating thread. Apologize if I was inattentive but none of I have found helped!
-No Kies is running while flashing.
Have tried this many times with little variations but result is the same.
Tried different nightly builds and stable version as well. tried to flash to XWKK5 stock firmware first (3 files) with no result.
Please advise!
Thanks.
Did you follow the CM installation instructions ? As far I'm aware you have to flash it twice in a row, no wipe. I have a feeling this is your problem.

It doesn't let me do it twice. I cannot get access to recovery mode after rebooting. Menu+Volume up+Power combination leads to the same Samsung logo screen and boot loop.
Download mode is available so can restore device to it's first state.

Performing the same steps as in instructions and tutorial videos.
Maybe I'm still doing something wrong during flashing?
Also have tried with RomManager but result is the same.
Will be very grateful if somebody helps to resolve this issue cause it's the 4th day i'm trying and flashing counter is about 50!
I'm having the same issue. And i also dont have a solution.
Screw that!
I've left any efforts to flash CM7 and flashed CM9 instead!
Hi - hoping someone can help me
I made the big mistake of trying to ROOT my Samsung S2 without fully reading everything -
So here is what i done - i downloaded Odin and then installed the Root file - then rebooted my phone and went into recovery mode to wipe data -
Issue - The Root file i downloaded was for a custom rom and i only have the Tmobile UK standard rom - The phone now reboots upto the Samsung logo and give me a yellow triangle. I am able to still enter download and recovery mode so hopefully not all is lost.
I do no know what my kernel number is -- so not sure what stock rom to re download.
Any ides or help???
Thanks in advance
Download any stock rom for the UK .

great thanks will try that now -
Hello everyone,
I recently bought the international version GT-I9300 simlock free running android 4.1.2 build JZ054K I9300 00XXELL4 . I researched how to root my device and I successfully did so using the Samsung GS3 Toolkit v7.0 selecting the 4.1.2 build JZ054k I9300 ELLA. I then proceeded to download ROM Manager to use the application to download the stable 9.1.0 Cyanogenmod from my internal memory where I had saved the document. This is when things started going bad. I did not wipe data/factory reset the device before I started uploading the costumROM. I am now in a boot loop where I constantly see the facy boot animation of CM 9.1.0. no matter what I do. I have entered system recovery only to find that I have access only to the standard android system recovery <3e>. I tried to wipe data/factory reset and to restore my device using a stock samsung file that I reflashed using Odin 3.0.7, to no avail. Many different reflash attempt later, including the original 9.1.0. cyanogenmod file and a nightly build version 10.1, I ran out of inspiration. I would be very grateful for any suggestion to what to do. Still have access to download and recovery mode however not with ClockworkMod-Recovery.
TL;DR:
I soft bricked my I9300 as I am in a boot loop with CM 9.1.0 . Only have access to download mode and system recovery <3e>. What do?
Thanks in advance
Download stock i9300XXELLA from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=GT-I9300&pcode=BTU&os=1&type=1#firmware you will need to register to download the file
Boot into recovery and do a factory reset then boot into download mode and install via Odin,
The root using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957273 zip is in post 3
The use this for recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943592 instead of CWM
Thanks a lot for such a quick reply. I'm going to try it out immediately.
Hey Folks,
I'm Freaking out atm -.-
On Saturday my Phone just shut down, restartet and hung in a bootloop. Doing Wipes and Factory Resets didnt helped me. So i pulled the last Joker and flashed as its metioned here. First few Times nothing happend (But ODIN gave me PASSED after Procedure).
Today I tried again with Odin 3.04, Firmware from the Thread (and Vodafone GER Firmware, Factory Reset / Wpies via Android Recovery) and Wooooooow, Phone is booting. BUT its just booting up, I can make some Settings like Choose Language, Connect to WiFi and so on. After ~30 Seconds the Phone reboots, 3-6 Times, then its stucks on Bootanimation (not looping). After a while Phone gets hot on the Bottom.
Soooooo, any can tell me whats wrong with my Buddy?
Cant send it to Service cause i cannot reset the flashcounter (cant install Apps due to the lack of time phone is active)
Im able to root Phone again / replace stock recovery with CWM -Maybe flashable Zip for resetting the counter?
Installing CustomRom will give me a Loop on Splash Screen
I need my freakin Phone
Cheers
try formatting entire phone(all the internal memory) from cwm recovery. then install a stock rom via odin.

Okay What I did:
- Stock Vodafone Germany ROM is installed (but not booting right)
- Rooted with CF-Root 6.4 via Odin again - now i can access CWM Recovery
- Wiped everything (system, data, cache, dalvik, battery, preload)
- Flashed Stock ROM via Odin
- Recovery Droid showed up with blue loading bar under it
- Phone is running blue samsung bootanimation twice
- Phone gives me bootsplashloop twice
- Phone shows blue bootanimation and gets stuck on breathing samsung logo (last part of the bootanimation), blue notification LED is breathing
any guess?
after flashing stock ROM via Odin, go to the stock recovery and do a factory reset

Now its looping the bootsplash 3 or 4 times and than Screen turns black.
After wiping Dalvik, and Factory Reset again Phone boots to Bootanimation (Samsung Logo breathing), Bootanimation starts a Second Time Without Sound, than Boot Splash, Bootsound and blue Bootanimation again.
Sometimes with Graphical glitches (the blue circle around samsung text)
But going not further than Bootanimation, no System showing up
is the phone model name (i9300) present in download mode?
aslo, does the recovery say anything about the efs folder?

Yep, Model Name is visible in Download Mode.
Odin Mode
Product Name: GT-9300
Custom Binary Download: Yes (14 counts)
Current Binary: Samsung Official
Current Status: Custom
What should the Recovery say about EFS-Folder? Or where can I find some Info about?
-------------Edit--------------------
Oh, wow, cant enter Stock Recovery now...... god damnit -.-

Works again.... Strange

Hi all,
I own a brand new Galaxy S6 Edge, SM-G925F, bought just 3 days ago in European Union/
Germany.
It has installed the latest Samsung Stock:
Android version: 5.1.1
Base band version: G925FXXU3COI9
Build number: LMY47X.G925FXXU3COI9
Security Software: MDF v2.0 Release 3 und VPN v1.4 Release 5.2
Latest Stock: G925FXXU3COI9_G925FDBT3COI6_DBT.zip
After updating OTA to the latest stock I tried to root the phone.
First of all I have flashed TWRP 2.8.7.1 via Odin 3.10.6. Then I have installed
Hacker Kernel V5 and XPosed v75.8 by WANAM (20151030) (using TWRP).
After finishing configuring the phone I have seen the next day that my akku has
been eaten and found out that the phone *never* enters deep sleep mode.
As soon as I go back to Stock ROM, Stock Kernel, Stock Recovery
(G925FXXU3COI9_G925FDBT3COI6_DBT.zip), deep sleep mode is working instantly
(controlled with CPU Spy).
What I have done without success to solve the problem:
1. using TWRP Advanced Wipe: erasingDalvik Cache, Cache several times
2. trying the solutions from zidroid (fix-battery-drain-and-deep-sleep-issue-on-galaxy-s6-and-s6-edge)
Method 1 (zip file flasing and Method 2 (terminal).
Both in several combinations with different kernels, alternative ROM, stock ROM,
root only (flashing kernel using Odin without TWRP)
3. trying differenz kernels:
- Hacker Kernel v4, v5
- UniKernel v8
- AELMultiVariant_v2_9_311015
4. trying the kernels without custom recovery, i.e. first flashing stock ROM, then
flashing the kernels directly using Odin.
5. trying the next solution that I have found in the forum:
first stock firmware again, then TWRP, then kernel (for root). Afterwards extracting stock
recovery image from G925FXXU3COI9_G925FDBT3COI6_DBT.zip, flashing this one only.
Running stock recovery, erasing cache, reboot (repeated several times).
Again no deep sleep.
6. first stock firmware again, then flashing TWRP and CarHDRom_V.14_3COJH.
All these tries without XPosed framework, starting from a fresh installed stock system
(i.e. resetting the whole phone to default, then erasing/formatting everything (without
EFS) from TWRP, then flashing stock recovery, kernel, ROM (G925FXXU3COI9_G925FDBT3COI6_DBT.zip)
by Odin.
Even tried everything without a SIM card.
As soon as I flash something (kernel only, TWRP only, combinations or complete ROM) the
phone never enters deep sleep mode. In "best" case it is working with 200 Mhz only.
Can this be a problem with Samsung's latest boot loader?
Thanks for your assistance!
Problem solved, reason unknown
In the end I have found a working solution.
1. using TWRP Advanced Wipe: erasingDalvik Cache, Cache several times
2. flashing stock recovery, kernel, ROM (G925FXXU3COI9_G925FDBT3COI6_DBT.zip)
by Odin.
3. flashing TWRP
4. flashing hacker kernel (enabling root)
5. flashing XtreStoLite_ROM_v2.4_Deo-Mod-Edition_XXU3COI9_G920-5-F-I-T-W8-K-L-S.zip
Deep Sleep is working now, even in combination with XPosed framework and XPrivacy.
As XtreStoLite_ROM_v2.4_Deo-Mod-Edition is based on XXU3COI9 , I assume there could
be a problem with the lasted boot loader from the stock firmware XXU3COI9 that I had installed
previously.
