Downloading to external SD - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

Hi all. Is there some script or mod anyone knows of that will automatically download everything to external card?

Link2sd in the playstore but you have to bee rooted. And your sd card has to be partitioned the right way. Good luck.

EDIT: Don't forget to read everything because somethings may not work together. Example: jb cwm only recognizes ext3 partition.

I'm running link2SD. I love it. The standard android downloader won't link, though. Tried freezing it and running another one, but without it, NOTHING downloads. Found that the new ES file explorer does a great job, but you aren't offered the option on every type of download. In ES settings: directory settings: download path: you can set it

[Guide] REAL guide for FULL Apps2SD using Clockwork. [UPDT 9.28.2012]

This guide is bullet proof. It will not damage your phone in any way or make it run any risks as long as you follow step by step.
What you'll need:
Any Android phone with CWM5 installed
For S2E - A CyanogenMod rom running on your phone. (Doesn't matter if a custom rom based on CM7 or CM7 itself. If S2E doesn't work, contact your rom's developer.)
Step by Step Guide
This part of the guide can be used simply to just make a partition on your SD. You don't have to use S2E which is completely optional. You can use any other app that fits your needs.
Backup your SD card data to PC before start partitioning.
Power on your phone
Hold the Home and Power button
Use volume down button to go down to ‘advanced’.
Then press home button
Select ‘Partition SD Card’.
Select the ext size that you want (128M, 256M, 512M, 1024M, 2048M or 4096M). (I use 256MB)
Select 0M as the Swap Size.
Copy back your data to SD card.
That’s all
Next;
For S2E
Go to CM settings and check 'Application moving'
Install S2E
Check the'Applications' box
Check the 'Dalvic Cache' box
Reboot your phone
For INT2EXT+ (For CM10.1 check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37939052&postcount=1121)
Download from the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716124
Place it on the root of the SD
Make sure you delete ANY A2SD you have in your init.d folder.
Boot up CWM5
Mount system and data
Look for it and flash it (In "Install zip from SD")
Format SD EXT (In mounts and storage)
Reboot your phone
For Amarullz
Download the file attached to the first post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310309
Delete any A2SD scripts you might already have on your phone in the init.d folder
Extract the zip and put the script in the init.d folder
Change permissions to rw-r-r or to rwxrwxrwx if the first one doesn't work for you.
Reboot
I DO NOT USE LINK2SD OR RECOMMEND IT EITHER SO DON'T ASK.
When you reboot, it will take some time because of the Dalvic cache being moved to the SD card. When you install something, it will be installed automatically in the SD card, resulting in a completely empty internal storage.
NOTE FOR S2E: Some widgets or applications that have widgets, don't work while installed in the SD card. Those must be moved to the internal storage. The same thing applies to any themes you're using, launcher, camera apps, or anything else you believe should be installed internally.
NOTE 2: Please also keep in mind that when you reboot your phone (or turn it on) anything installed in the SD won't work until the phone is done scanning the SD card and confirms the item is installed.
NOTE 3: To delete the partition, you'll have to format the whole SD card. For that you have to use the Android Settings>Storage>Format SD. Any other way and the partition WILL NOT be erased. Make sure you back up before doing this.
S2E and AMARULLZ work with CM BASED ROMS ONLY but INT2EXT is UNIVERSAL.
You can try DarkTremor's script which is the same thing basically but I don't really know how to set it up so you'll have to find your own guide. And Links2SD doesn't free up that much memory but at least its something.
Please read this post carefully before asking any questions. I will ignore EVERY QUESTION who's answer is on this post.
Thanks to DavySML125 for the CM10.1 tip.
Fun fact: I use my own guide every time I flash a new rom

Depends on how much memory you think you'll consume. I'd still say go for 1GB. I have 100+ apps installed and I haven't even used half that GB. I'm using a 8GB class 4 or 6 (I forgot) and I'm thinking of lowering it to 500MB.
Does that with cyanogen and not on stock rom.

Totally Baffeld.....I think

Hi all,
I'm researching this site looking how to root my phone (then use the SD card to create more internal memory as I keep getting the low space warning) and I just want to confirm my learnings before taking the plunge. I've searched the topics and read the guides - but I'm still baffled!
So my phone is a sony ericsson xperia ray running ICS 4.0.4 (baseband 0.431)
In order to root the phone, first my bootloader must be unlocked? - I've dialled *#*#7378423#*#* and my bootloader is not unlockable (i.e. it's set to "no" under bootloader unlock allowed)
Reading the forums the only way to unlock the bootloader is via the carrier? I'm not bothered about having a sim from another carrier, so can I just follow this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1682224 to root or is there another process I should be following to root the phone?.........or is it simply impossible to do on this phone?
If you unlock your sim lock(possibly by omnius, wotan server or many local shops), then t's possible to unlock the bootloader...but if someone told you that you have to unlock your bootloader for rooting your phone it's totally false...You may just visit here and follow each steps correctly to root your phone...
Enjoy
If I helped press thanks

Hi, I had no files.....so what I did instead was:
....opened titanium backup > deleted facebook app > installed link2SD > linked a few apps to SD > installed facebook from play.....job done.
The only thing I did wrong is that when creating the partition I made both "primary", I think I should have made one "EXT 2", but it seems to work anyway as in link2SD I selected fat 32 as the extension type.....

Open up your link2sd app and check to see if your apps are linked to sdcard or "on sdcard". If it is "on sdcard" then they are being moved to the main partition of your sdcard using app2sd rather than to the second partition using link2sd. You will probably want to repartition the sdcard to give you an ext 3 partition as ext 3 is more stable and faster than ext 2 and even with a big sdcard you probably don't want/need a partition bigger than 1 Gb. Ext 4 is even better but your kernel/ROM may not support it, so best to go with ext 3.

Hi thanks for the tip. Just checked link2SD and the apps I've linked are definitely linked rather than moved.
It's fat32 though.....is that gonna cause a problem? and if i do need to get rid of fat32 and make it ext3, is there a way to do it while copying the link2sd apps as well?

If it's working....I wouldn't mess with it. Just make sure that when you connect your phone and your computer in usb mass storage mode that it mounts the right partition (the big one) and that the apps on the link2sd partition are still working.
If you decide to make an ext3 partition you can move all the files from the fat32 partition into the ext3. This sounds easy but windows isn't going to want to see the ext3 partition. So it may be easier to just uninstall all the linked apps and just reinstall them into the new partition.

I would like to leave warning to avoid moving/linking..
Play Store, Google Play Services, System Apps and any file manager you have.
Why you may ask?
Google Play Reason:
Cuz "heaven forbid" something happens to your SD card, you would lose access to Google Play and won't be able to download apps.
System App reason:
Well if you lose an system app you won't be able to Factory Reset.
File Manager Reason:
Well if you lose your file manager you of course won't be able to browse files.
And won't be able to download another if you lost Google Play.
Just a heads up for anybody wanting to install Link2sd

Great suggestions! I got all of those linked on my card but I make damn sure I have everything backed up twice! I don't do a lot of really fancy stuff so it seems to be working just fine but for the people who are flashing ROMs take heed. I've overclocked, undervolted, rooted, linked2sd, deleted bloatware, and custom recovery and it's fine for me. Thanks so much for the suggestions and I hope people will read all the way through!

I think the biggest you can do is 2gigs, any higher you "might" run into slower running apps/system.

"App2SD is not supported by your device. Because your device has a primary external storage which is emulated from the internal storage. You can link the app in order to move its files to your SD card."
How do I move the actual game to my SD card. Right now it says the game is linked but I can't move the game to the SD card. I'm running cm10.1 on my p769. Thanks!

I'm confused about this last image (can't link to it because I'm new here) - I've been unsuccessfully trying to partition a 32GB card for days now, literally scouring this forum and others, and I've tried so many things on it - wiping, partitioning, deleting and creating new partitions, formatting - I really think the card itself is probably ruined, and that might be my main problem. So I bought a new 16GB SD card, SanDisk, I think class 4 (clerk told me that as I was paying, don't see anything on the package indicating what class it is), and I don't want to mess this up. I paid a guy to root my phone, and using Root Browser I see a list of folders and files, one of which is mnt, then subfolder sdcard, then subfolder external_SD pathway. If that what I should be seeing to begin with?
I do understand that the SDcard folder is not my SD card - it's actually part of the internal memory.
My confusion about your image is that when I look at Link2SD storage info I see "internal 73% free", "SD Card 73% free", "ext. SD 99% free", and "SD Card 2nd part. not mounted" - below that I see system 28% free and cache 97% free. Your image shows only 3 things. I notice that my "internal" and "SD card" show exactly the same numbers.
If you folks think what I'm seeing is normal, aside from the "not mounted," (I get that, it isn't mounting and I want to try a new card), I plan to start at the top of your instructions, use MiniTool Partition (which I've been using all along), partition my new card FAT32 12GB and second partition ext 3 (because I'm running android 4.1.2 and in these instructions it says to use ext3) 4GB. I have one large app (ibird pro) that I hope to link to the SD, which is why I chose 4GB for the second partition.
Can anyone see anything wrong here so far? I guess I'm looking for someone with my phone like TheCoutures who has done this process and has it working for confirmation that I'm not off base before I even start with this file structure and/or my plans for the partitioning sizes etc.
Thanks - and btw I thought the noob video was really funny and very well done, thoroughly enjoyed watching it
In case it doesn't show up my phone is an LG Optimus L9, T-mobile, android 4.1.2.
This is on my linked2sd. You are just fine with respect to the memory sections. Read from the beginning and you should be just fine. My card is 16mb and I partitioned it right down three middle. Try to mount or partition using cwm if you are more comfortable with that.

[Q] Move to SD option in App Manager

I have a D618 (4GB internal), and I noticed that there is a "Move to SD" option in the app manager, I tried it, but the app data is still in the internal memory.
And I heard that Kitkat devices have write issues with the SD card, and there is an app for fixing that, but I haven't tried it since my phone is not yet rooted.
Anyone here who has a rooted phone want to try?
Thanks
Move to SD only moves part of the apk file not app data.
It's not affected by the kitkat write issue.
My idea
Use GL to SD. For this you MUST HAVE ROOT. I root my G2 Mini just for it.

Thanks mate, worked for me
If you create a ext4 partition on your sdcard, there's multiple guides online for this. Then root your device and download link2sd, your able to move all apps, cache from apps and etc to the sdcard

Spoiler Alert!
Spoiler
Once my phone gets back from service, I will try to make a script which will mount /data/app/ and /data/dalvik-cache/ to a second partition on the SD.

Only 2GB of space.

Hi! I've got an i717 16GB, and according to my settings, I only have 2GB of space on the total system. I plug it in, and it says I have 10GB available and 5.8GB used. What's going on? I have CWM 5.5

We still did not find the solution(re-partition tool/flashable zip/script) at all.
Still waiting for any expert's tip - android re-partition skill.
I really do want to solve this problem to keep using my current note until I upgrade to new phone.

I just got this phone 1 week ago myself with same lame problem.
I followed this.... HERE!
There are plenty "how tos" and ways to do the expansion situations.
Hope that helps.

OPPS sorry about that dead link.....
This link is working today https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHsHiXDgSy4
I put the whole URL this time to copy and paste.
I use the FREE EASEUS Partition Master 9.1.0 Home Edition to partition the sd card. I find it easier to and faster to back up the contents of sd card to computer than partition. and than transfer bkup to sd card on the 1st Primary Fat32 partition.
Takes to long to transfer 4 to 6 GB back from bkup to card from pc to phone IMO.
OR
Here is a step by step .... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nllIEBzuPHo I prefer the 4000MB partition for the NU storage.
Be sure to set or make BOTH the partitions "Primary" partitions or they will not work with Link2sd.
I tried Mini tool and Aparted but they might work for others, they didn't work for me.
Link2sd card is the most reliable and easy to do the linking from old tiny internal storage to the NEW enlarged external storage that I have found.
And if that app does not do it for anyone try foldermount https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATWTghTploY
OR
HERE at xda .... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39178981 Give a BIG thanks and support to madmack
And get that apk from madmack at bottom first post.
And if you do NOT have ROOT than try. . .

Hope those suggestions help.

So, basically your solution is based on using additional SD card not changing/modifying the phones' EMMC memory.
I think I had tried Link2SD/Folder mount earlier and not all apps supports with this method.
It is still helpful but I think we(other users) still like to change the EMMC side.
But I still want to tried your suggested method to try. Thank you!!!

BTW, how do you use? (Partition Size and link to External SD? or Internal 2nd Partition?)
Just wondering... If you have spare time to share. Please share how you did and how you are using it with which combination sizes. Thank you!
