Hey guys!
Just found an app on google play store through which we can use wifi direct on our phone!
WiFi Direct enables two WiFi powered devices to transfer files at amazing speeds.
Like NFC Wifi Direct can send and recieve large files within minutes!
I have practically seen a friend of mine sending 700+ mb of data in less than 2 minutes from his Galaxy S3 to S2
Wifi direct was introduced in the jellybean updates on S2 and S3

I think its both good and bad.
The good thing is that sites is using HTML5 more and more, the bad thing is that many sites still uses flash.

Do not panic.. Only the new devices are unsupported.. Existing devices that supports flash like s3 will get eventual updates when needed.

That's only partially correct. There might be security patches (maybe) but that's it. The app will even be removed from the Play Store later this year. So no updates to fix compatibility with new OS versions. That means no Flash on Jelly Bean.

That's very bad news especially for the sgs3. Flash is very buggy on this phone and won't be fixed. When it does work the performance is amazing though. You don't even feel any slowdown when flash is enabled.
What is there reason? It's got 100 million + downloads.. people want flash. Ad a few ads or whatever to make it profitable

Most probably because google want to drop support for flash. So they stopped support in advance. Its a pity because flash works perfectly in the last 2 generations of android smartphones and provided a truly desktop internet experience. Now that android does not support flash browsing is not anymore capable than ios anymore.
Yeah lots of people will probably respond with something about html5 being gazillion time better than flash comments but you know what? html5 performance sucks even worse than flash. Youtube html 5 videos perform poorly even on my i7 desktop pc. So what if html 5 is the future? This has been repeated over and over for the past 3 years but guess what? Today flash is still the more widely used format. I want to view my content now not in the uncertain future.
They said the same about ICS. I'd ignore the comment, the writer is probably just doing some PR to suck up to Apple.

so u seem a gud developer or a coder ok do compile an apk of flash 11 file for future use. thanka

This article compares flash vs html 5 performance. Flash came out on top. While that was back in 2010, I tested it today on my galaxy S3 and flash is still much faster than html5. 25fps vs 48fps.
HTML5 performance suck balls even on my Desktop. Tried all the browsers, many demos work badly. Buggy or not, flash is better right now.
HTML5 videos doesn't even play on the Vimeo desktop page while flash worked perfectly.

I've been checking and haven't found settings yet. I think they do a little more than the Motorola RAZR does. I've gone so far as to enable the hotspot feature (paid) to compare it to the entries with it not activated and the only setting I found did not work - it still checked the entitlement.
You're in the wrong forum... This one is for the international S3 with the device number i9300.
Aftermarket Tethering apps should work fine though if you're rooted. Some custom roms may also include the feature.

Most of the aftermarket apps will work - but if he is like me he would rather be able to use the built in one. I know there is a widget out that will enable the built in one, but I'm not a java programmer and even after decompiling the .apk to a .jar I'm having trouble following it.
Anywho, can somone move this into the correct forum for the Verizon one then please.
Thanks.

thats what I am trying to say
Same here, it says the game is incompatible and can't purchase. I contacted the game company and they said S3 is not compatible (even though it is for number of people!!!) due to resolution... I don't get it
Those of you who were able to purchase the game, are you on stock or custom Rom?

There is nothing to do with custom rom.I dont know only for aosp rom, but with custom Samsung rom the game keep says that is incompatible.
Maybe the users who runnning max payne using a moddified id in build.prop (i havent test it yet)?
the same happened with MC3, GTA 3 etc.
The solution I found with MC3 (when it was not yet free on Sam Apps and not yet "compatible" with S3) is to buy it direct on Gameloft website and they will send you a sms with a link to a direct APK download.
Whereas the above worked with Gameloft, it did not work with Rockstar games for GTA 3. I contacted the support and they just said: yeah its not working with your phone (they redirected me to a page with a list of compatible devices and S3 was not on there). Found the APK then in other sources (will not disclose here due to forum rules), whereas I would be more than willing to pay.
Not compatible with my s3

I think they are yet to update the play store details, I have played GTA 3 on my Samsung GS3 International and it works flawlessly without the slightest drag even though it shows incompatible with my SGS3 in the Google Play Store. I am now downloading MP3 for my mobile. Anyone want me to share the file?
^ Nah, I'll just not buy it since they CBA to sort it for my phone. I wasn't going to apy full price anyway.

Well, as someone has already said, you can only download it when you are on an AOSP ROM (or, at least, it has worked for me on CM9). I don't know why Samsung ROMs make the phone incompatible with the game.

Or you can get from an other phone that it work on.
Just copy the apk to the S3 and you can run it, but not update it.
I also was little mad when it did not work after I did buy me an S3, but I have my old phone left so I just used that APK:laugh:
hello all
i want to know whether we can play "psp" games on s3 or not.. i read it in old threads that "quadcore generations might be possible to do it"

This thread is pretty old but if you guys are looking for a PSP emulator with promise then lookup PPSSPP in the Play Store. It's still a W.I.P but it runs compatible games really smoothly, and the dev is always pushing out updates. Check it out!

for downloading u can use ADM advance download maneger pro...:good:
Yes, advance download manager will do the thing. By the way, if you are using torrent, then just choose the one with many seeds.
Anything that is system-wide? I need to download things off of an Amazon S3 server and I don't think that ADM does it.

All i can think of is forcing 2g but dont know if thats what you want..
did you sort it?
I was just wondering if you found a way... I'm trying to find a way to limit the bandwidth (kB/s) that iPlayer and 4od download functions use... I was wondering about using the Linux command throttle and applying it to an app but I don't know how...

I've just finished the first version of BradyBound. It shapes the download speed of the entire system.
Be warned however that this works by dropping packets. This means that some download quota will be wasted! Also, you need root.

Can this be done with upload speed?
Bandwidth ruler free
you can use bandwidth ruler , it needs root . it can limit your upload speed for your phone and download/upload for tethered connections. Limiting phone download speed is difficult as downstream traffic depends on the network . :good:
you can download it via this link :
Also , you can find its description in the following xda thread :

Well, I don't think that you are going to get any application which could do the same, Yes you can get apps that promised that they can accelerate but think logically you have got 1Mbps plan how you are going to get 2 Mbps speed ?? Yes, a little improvement can be seen but I don't think you can get to see any major improvement,
