[Q] flashing CWM to xperia u with recoverX - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi,
i have a rooted xperia u with a LOCKED bootloader. I want to flash a custom rom to my phone, and after hours of reading, i figure that flashing CWM and using ROM manager is the easiest method, because to the best of my understanding, that method allows me to do everything with the app interface, without having to mess about in the recovery much, and since im a noob, id rather stick to the app interface.
Since i cant install CWM from rom manager itself as my device isnt supported, can i use recoverX to install CWM to my phone which has a locked bootloader, and then use rom manager to flash a custom rom?

Just install cwm.. Rom manager Is not required.. Just use cwm to flash zips.. It has a ui of its own.. And flash custom Roms which are for locked bootloader!!

ok guys... im an idiot...
i was rooting my friends Sg2 (which was running stock gingerbread and bought in Aus.) and using odin and i flashed a CF root kernel XW CLK KF3 but after it booted back into the stock rom i forgot to use Superoneclick to root it....
I skipped straight to the next step which was to use CWM to flash the latest nightly build of Cyanogen Mod.... obviously that didn't quite go as planned..
now, i can still boot into CWM and download mode but im not sure what to flash so i can boot the phone and run Superoneclick and finish loading on a new OS...
also, i have no way to put files on the phone so i assume ill have to use ODIN...
PLEASE HELP!
if you have flashed CF-root kernel, then forget superoneclick you have alreay rooted..
you can flash a stock ICS ROM, since your next target is CM9

No you can't install a custom ROM without root access...
First root your phone and then flash the custom ROM
PS- instead of downgrading to GB...
You can flash a pre rooted Kernel via flashtool to ROOT your phone...
It will automatically install the recovery too...
For more details about flashing Kernel look in the guides in stickies section

[Q] Sony to CM flash process

Hi all,
It's been a few months since I have last programmed my phone, and I do believe it's time for a refresh! I have forgotten some details... so I have a few questions regarding the flashing process.
I currently have the Sony lollipop stock ROM on (customized myself and with root etc) but I wish to go back to a CM based ROM. I have a custom recovery already installed, so basically I was just wondering whether I could just go to recovery, wipe all data, install CM & kernel and boot, or would I need to push files from fast boot via the PC?
I know it's a bit of a silly question, but it's been a while and I rather confirm which is the correct way before I spend unnecessary time recovering my phone through flash tool...
If someone could let me know quickly that'd be great! and thanks in advance people!
Alex
IF your bootloader is unlocked, you can download the CM 12 zip, wipe data and flash it through recovery.
IF your bootloader is locked, you will have to unlock it first, then flash CM from recovery
Sent from my Xperia Z2 somewhere in Norway

If your bootloader is locked, you can still flash stock based ROMS though, without unlocking it. CM is not based on stock ROM, therefore you need unlocked bootloader

Need help with a ROM

Hey guys, I have an Xperia Z2 D6503 with Android 5.1.1 FW 23.4.A.1.200 non-rooted with LB
I saw this ROM -----> http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/development/rom-z2-264-stock-rooted-deodexed-t3276227
In the instructions it only says to flash it from recovery and wipe data, and since it's stock based, i was wondering if i needed to root my phone or install a special recovery before flashing this room
Thanks in advance
You don't need to root, but you do need to unlock your boot loader to be able to flash anything that isn't flashed with Sony's own tools and have their signatures.
You migt need to load a different recovery (i.e. twrp or cwm). I can't say for sure.
dont forget to save drm keys first..... I really miss the sony camera, i didnt save the keys and now the camera performance is not as good as before. Tbh u will prefer the stock more.

Did you try using the drm restoration zip?
guys don't mislead. All you need is to downgrade to 23.1.A.1.28, root it via KingRoot and install XZ Dual Recovery. No unlock bootloader required

Last i checked 5.1 was not supported on kingroot, and not many custom roms can be used on locked bootloader. He asked about a new rom.

He asked about a stock rom. He doesn't need to unlock his bootloader. He can simply downgrade and root then install recovery and flash that stock deodexed rom. Only CM and AOSP based roms need unlocked bootloader. All the sony stock based roms can install in a LB..

My friend. .
Follow this instructions
First download 23.1.A.1.28 ftf and flash it using flashtool. Or download any kitkat ftf and flash it via flashtool. Then root it and install NUT dual recovery. Then move the rom u want to flash to ur phone and enter recovery. Wipe data factory reset and flash rom. Then reboot.. Thats it. U don't need to unlock ur bootloader..
If u don't know how to downgrade u can simply see a YouTube video. There is lot of tutorials available in xda or YouTubes.
U can't root 5.1.1 directly if u are on a LB. So follow my method and enjoy a stock deodexed rom..

[Q] how do I install a recovery on D9503?

Hello everyone,
I updated to the latest version 6.0.1. 572
I also unlocked the Bootloader and rooted with King root (Temporary root)
But what I can't boot to the stock recovery, and whenever I try to, it automatically boots to system
And I tried to install twrp, I ended up getting it soft bricked and I had to reinstall lastest firmware
So, is there any way I can install a custom recovery?
Thanks
Do not use standalone recoveries at the moment. Use ROMs that has recovery else you'l end up in bootloop.
For now, rcovery fix is an issue with 6.0.1. So i suggest you simply stick with a ROM like Existenz MM V1 or any other, by downgrading and installing recovery with root AND then flashing 6.0.1(with recovery & root). That way you can have recovery.
I too am waiting for a recovery fix so just managing without recovery for now as non of the fixes are working for me.
Good Luck buddy!

Well, thanks for the help, downgraded to 5.1.1 (or should I downgrade to something more older?)
But I need help to choose a custom kernel (I know how to flash kernels using fastboot ) can you suggest me a kernel that has a custom recovery
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
5.1.1 is fine as you can root it. Just install Recovery( nuts dual recovery/ choose your version carefully & Follow instructions). if you'r going to upgrade to 6.0.1, i would suggest this kernel -http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2965480.
Just follow the instructions carefully and you'l be fine.
BTW, if you only want recovery, you can easily install in 5.1.1 after geting it rooted using kingroot.

Done, thanks!
After converting from kingroot to SuperSU (permanent root) and flashing dual recovery, then flashing a prerooted 6.0.1 ROM, now I have everything I need :good: :victory:
