I'm curious if there are any demos/games/apps out there that really push the GPU and will show what the Nexus 9 is capable of, from a graphics standpoint. Suggestions?
Google Earth is super impressive!
Dead Trigger 2 . allowed ultra high game setting. ( rain and puddle effects in the first scenes were impressive ) On my G Pad it sets Medium and only allows High setting . No rain effects , not to mention the difference in sound quality.
Republique is a pretty impressive game and it's optimized for tegra.
There is a game in google playstore that is made entirely of paper models. Is it better than 3d/2d normal stuff?
The game is "Paper Totem" graphics looks sick. But is it worth the effort?
If had this phone for like 2 weeks now, it was given to me as a graduation gift. My dad picked it because on paper, its a beast of a phone. 1.9ghz quad core CPU and Adreno graphics processor. In theory, based on these stats, it should be able to run Real Racing 3, MMX Racing, and other high quality games without issue or frame drop. This, sadly, is not the case, RR3 is unplayable and MMX racing has low framerate so timing the takeoffs and landings are difficult. What can anyone tell me about this problem. I do clear up all the RAM possible, but this isnt the issue, they are frame drops not, stutters, I obviously have power saving off. What can all you fancy phone gurus tell me about why this is occurring and what can be done.

Nope
never going to happen
you need to learn a bit more about hardware just because its 'quad core' and has a 'adreno' doesn't mean its not slower then a 3 Legged dog
the S4 is pretty dam slow by modern standards out of the box brand new it scores a meager 26147 in antutu benchmark for comparison something like the Galaxy S5 which is one generation newer scores about 3800
and real-racing 3 still doesn't run very well on the s5
current top-end phones will score about 50K
bottom line your dad brought you a outdated slow phone that nobody should be using in 2016
and I say that as a owner of 4 galaxy S4's
You bought the slow S4 variant, known to be choppy in games. The GPU can't run those games at an enjoyable frame rate, but can perform well on every other task, I guess.
A pretty decent S4 would be the LTE-A variant, with its hardware comparable to the S5. Basically it has a 2.3GHz processor and a way better GPU (~x2).
Even if I don't play I refused to buy it for its crappy performance and went for the snappier variant, twice.
I just installed NOVA 3 for the first time in years and forced it to full screen- it's amazing. Works perfectly, no major UI glitches and the game play is soooooo smooth. The Note 8 doesn't even brack a sweat. Riptide Renegade is great and so is Asphalt Extreme. I play a TON of Titanfall Assault and it has some UI issues but the game play itself is just fine. Hopefully they'll update it to support the wide aspect ratio.
What games have you guys been playing in full screen?
A bit opposite to the OP, but I've been playing Xelorians (shumup with spen support) and having full screen off is great since the anchor for the spen is below the hitbox, i can get the ship to the very bottom of the screen with that extra black space there (on N7 the pen would run off the screeen and the ship stops a cm above the bottom) a few other games have been nice with the extra black space since it gives me a little space to hold the phone without accidentally touching a gameplay area...
