I have an Android Razr that WAS rooted. I kept having issues with the OTA JB upgrade so I unrooted, went back to stock and updated. Now I am having issues with getting the phone to root again. I also have a warranty issue with the charger not fitting into the phone properly.
I know that with the phone being rooted, Verizon will not warranty this. Is there a way to erase the footprint on the phone of it being rooted in the past so I can get a replacement?
If not, What do I need to do to re-root this device and use a different rom?
My charger will work if I leave the phone alone... My battery life has been cut in half since the upgrade n matter what task killer I use, turing off WiFi or whatever else I have tried.
I have tried the RS lite and all goes well until the end when I get a recipe failure. Now I cannot simply reboot my phone, I must hard reset each time and select BP Tools to reboot.
This is annoying and I cannot find a strait forward answer.
Would someone help me out here?

Problem: Phone will not charge while powered off. Phone freezes on "Galaxy S III" screen. I can sometimes get my phone to boot up if i try installing the clockwork.tar or stock image file(boot-stock-sprint-sph-l710.tar) in Odin. When i can get into my phone and it boots up my battery is at 1% and a message pops up saying "charging paused: battery temp too high". When my phone is off and plugged into a wall a yellow triangle with a thermostat appears and doesnt seem to charge.
Background: My phone is the Sprint version of the GS3. My phone is rooted. I haven't touched any files pertaining to the system nor have I tried removing any bloatware. I haven't flashed any ROMs.The only posibile thing i have done that may have caused this is restoring apps in TB that were originally on my Droid X (only restored data on 2 games and amazon app store. didnt restore any system files or apps).I installed CWM using Odin(not adb). I rooted my phone by flashing the superuser.zip file in clockwork recovery. My phone was rooted for over 24 hours and functioning fine prior to bricking/battery problem. I currently can get into download mode but not CWM recovery.
My current plan moving forward is to try and get a new battery/find someone close to me with a gs3 so i can charge my battery before messing with my phone. I am afraid that if i try flashing anything in Odin now my phone may die in the process and mess my phone up any more than it is. One i get a charged battery i plan on trying to get back into CWM and restoring my non-rooted backup I made, or wait on a Full stock Odin package for my phone.
Also does anyone know if the Samsung Galaxy S III I9300 battery is compatible with the US Variants? I found this on Ebay -> http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-x-2100mAh...Accessories&hash=item3a753b6680#ht_2405wt_952 and figured it might be worth a shot. I had a similar charger as shown in the picture for my Droid X and it worked fine.
If anyone has any ideas as to why this happened to me or has any advice/suggestions i would greatly appreciate it.
I've been rooting my phones since my droid Eris, and I've come across a problem that I can't seem to fix.
I rooted my Razr Maxx almost two years ago when I first got it, and there have been several android updates since then. I could not get the updates, therefore, was having trouble running new roms, lots of glitches, etc. So I wanted a clean slate and start fresh.
I unrooted my phone (using Matt's utility) and then tried to factory reset. Then, I noticed that my phone continually booted into AP Fastboot.
My phone will not boot properly unless I hold both volumes down, then press the power button, then I get the Boot Mode Selection Menu. I have the option for Normal Boot from here, which works fine (so my phone is not bricked). I was also able to update to 4.1.2 successfully.
However, you can see how this would pose a problem if 1. My phone were to die completely or 2. I want to sell my phone and get an upgrade or 3. I want to Root again (as I believe it requires a "normal" reboot, which the phone will now not do).
I've read somewhere that I could just "flash" something successfully, and it would fix this issue, but I have no idea as I've only used bootloaders and such to do the work for me.
If you have any insight, please let me know.
Thanks!
So I rooted my phone about two years ago, but I was having issues with getting new roms to work (I thought it was because I couldn't update it). So my plan was to unroot, update to JB, and then re-root.
Since I've unrooted, my phone restarts in AP Fastboot every time I turn it on. I have to hold the volume buttons down to power it on and select "normal boot". Doing this makes it work, but it's annoying, and I can't let the phone die or I'm screwed (now battery is terrible since I can't calibrate by letting it die).
How can I make it not boot into AP Fastboot anymore? Also, how can I root it now that it has Jellybean on it (I want to fix the AP fastboot issue first I imagine, unless Rooting again outright will fix it?)
Thanks in advance!

You probably need to restore the stock rom using matt's utility.

My Wife's Droid RAZR MAXX stopped working yesterday. We bought her a new phone.
I wanted to play around with rooting a phone and running a custom ROM. (Never tried it before, mainly since we need the phones to be 100% reliable).
Here's the catch. The phone starts up, and boots only to the Red Pulsing Eye / energy ball thing. The eye is constantly moving, but it never boots.
Most of the directions I've seen for loading a new ROM indicate I have to root the phone first, which means the phone has to be working.
I can boot into the special menus, is there any option for proceeding with the special menus, or is the phone truly a brick? (I have factory defaulted it about 3 times)
I also recognize the problem is most likely hardware, but didn't want to just throw it in the trash if I could avoid it. (We'll I'd recycle it..)

Hi Mike.
Can you get into AP Fastboot mode?
If you can, try reflashing using RSD-Lite, details here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1539192
I believe you have to first get your phone working with stock (manufacturer) ROM first before getting root and flashing custom ROM.
Good luck.
I have a VZW GS4 that I used towellroot to root, I forget how I got permanent su, I used flashify to change the bl to cwm, but when I tried to boot into cwm, I had errors. So I just ignored it and used my root privileges to just run greenify. I did not mess with safestrap or roms or anything, my phone was good enough to run Ingress, I saved a little battery life and that is all I care about.
When the OTA that was after kitkat (bug squash, still kit kat, I believe), I just kept hitting ignore til one day my screen broke, but the cracks were thin, caused weird display errors and I thought an update would fix it/go back to unrooted and hopefuilly replace the bl (ignorant I know), well the phone went to download mode even after battery pull after I did that, unless you held volume down while hitting power.
0din won't recognize my phone. tried installing and reinstalling drivers and some other tricks from a tutorial.
Do I need to find a spare sd card, put the stock bl in the root and turn the phone off and do a special keypress while turning it on to flash the bootloader?
Please let me know what info you need, how to find it and I'll answer as soon as humanly possible.
