[Q] RAZR stuck on Eye startup - Motorola Droid RAZR

My Wife's Droid RAZR MAXX stopped working yesterday. We bought her a new phone.
I wanted to play around with rooting a phone and running a custom ROM. (Never tried it before, mainly since we need the phones to be 100% reliable).
Here's the catch. The phone starts up, and boots only to the Red Pulsing Eye / energy ball thing. The eye is constantly moving, but it never boots.
Most of the directions I've seen for loading a new ROM indicate I have to root the phone first, which means the phone has to be working.
I can boot into the special menus, is there any option for proceeding with the special menus, or is the phone truly a brick? (I have factory defaulted it about 3 times)
I also recognize the problem is most likely hardware, but didn't want to just throw it in the trash if I could avoid it. (We'll I'd recycle it..)
Mike

Hi Mike.
Can you get into AP Fastboot mode?
If you can, try reflashing using RSD-Lite, details here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1539192
I believe you have to first get your phone working with stock (manufacturer) ROM first before getting root and flashing custom ROM.
Good luck.

HTC One Won't Boot After Failed Rom

When I bought my HTC One it already had a custom rom installed.
It was some stock android 4.2.1 nexus but with chinese interface and alot of chinese apps and recovery etc were all chinese.
So I couldn't do **** with this and tried to removing it and getting it back to stock HTC one rom.
After alot of tutorials online on xda and many others I couldn't find one that was easy enough for me to make it happen.
It was also my first time with a HTC. Never done it via fastboot/commandprompt etc.
I'd like to add that I am on a MAC aswell It took me a while to find a tutorial via mac but mine simply did not accept those commandlines which worked in the tutorials.
Afterwards I tried flashing it via recovery by installing from SDcard. Which is probably quite the stupid thing to do but I was angry and didn't know any other options since everything failed.
After It started installing stock rom from SD card it was stuck at a screen with "No command" A lying dead android with a red triangle above him and there was one line: Install /sdcard..
I was hoping he would install it but he didn't do anything and got stuck there.
I couldn't restart, couldn't get back to recovery, to anything nothing worked.
I waited untill battery life was drained.
Which happened and after batterylife ended and I put him back on a charger nothing happends.
Phone wont turn on whatsoever.
When I put him on a charger the phone blinks real quick to a white screen and goes back to black screen and still doesnt start whatsoever.
How ****ed am I ?
Can I get rid of this?
Can I still install that stock ROM that I so badly want?
Thanks

[Q] Razr x912 stuck in AP Fastboot - Not bricked

I've been rooting my phones since my droid Eris, and I've come across a problem that I can't seem to fix.
I rooted my Razr Maxx almost two years ago when I first got it, and there have been several android updates since then. I could not get the updates, therefore, was having trouble running new roms, lots of glitches, etc. So I wanted a clean slate and start fresh.
I unrooted my phone (using Matt's utility) and then tried to factory reset. Then, I noticed that my phone continually booted into AP Fastboot.
My phone will not boot properly unless I hold both volumes down, then press the power button, then I get the Boot Mode Selection Menu. I have the option for Normal Boot from here, which works fine (so my phone is not bricked). I was also able to update to 4.1.2 successfully.
However, you can see how this would pose a problem if 1. My phone were to die completely or 2. I want to sell my phone and get an upgrade or 3. I want to Root again (as I believe it requires a "normal" reboot, which the phone will now not do).
I've read somewhere that I could just "flash" something successfully, and it would fix this issue, but I have no idea as I've only used bootloaders and such to do the work for me.
If you have any insight, please let me know.
Thanks!

[Q] XT912M bootloop, failed flashing stock ROM

So, I started out by missing my alarms one morning because my razrmaxx was stuck in a bootloop... i've since gone back to an old Droid X to hold me over until i can figure out what's going on here.
Furthest i could get for the longest time was factory reset and wipe cache, but same result, phone would not boot past the droid 'eye' video (which played continuously until the battery died, i charged it back up and have been able to turn it off by performing a hard reset while connected to a PC)
in the last few days, i've tried flashing an official stock ROM for jellybean, but that failed, and bricked the phone. i got back to having a working recovery by using Droid RAZR Utility 1.82, which set me on 'stock 6.16.211'. immediately following that, i get the red moto logo, followed by the standing android with the dodecahedron spinning inside him (update screen) the progress bar below him hits max, disappears, then the screen goes black. phone restarts, red moto logo, then black... i'm pretty sure the phone is still on, because i get the 'connect/disconnect' tone on my PC... from this point, i've got all the recovery options, but i'm back at square 1... any ideas?

You should try the JB Droid Razr Utility and flash JB 4.1.2.I'm not certain with the utility verison but the system version you mentioned seems pretty old. I assume you were running the official 4.1.2, in that case any older build won't work/boot.

Razr Maxx stuck in red-eye startup loop

This is a Motorola Razr Maxx (not HD), in service since 2012. Not rooted. Posting problem here because I wonder if there's a brute force method of solving this problem, and the Verizon & Motorola forums have been useless.
I powered off the phone a few days ago, and a minute later, powered up again. The reboot got past some of the animated nonsense and got stuck at the "red eye" stage. If I do nothing, it stays there until the battery is dead (which is where the phone is at the moment). After recharging and trying again, I can hold the power button and get the phone to restart, but it goes back into the same loop. I found that there's a brief moment before the restart when the screen goes black and by pressing the appropriate buttons, I can get to the recovery menu. I've tried cleaning the cache partition and doing a factory reset, but these don't solve the problem. Someone at the Verizon store tried the same routine, to no avail.
All apps came from the Google play store. None were allowed to update automatically because I prefer to wait & see if other users have problems with updates. No games - just the following, all of which have been on the phone for a couple of years:
K9 Mail
CalenGoo
Swiftkey Keyboard
WiFi Analyzer
AVG Antivirus (which said the phone was clean earlier in the week)
Dropbox
ES File Explorer
New York Times
....plus the usual assortment of pre-installed Google & Verizon crap.
Is there a way to get the phone into safe mode from a cold start? Or, something I can do which involves reloading a new ROM from my computer (Windows 7 Pro)? I'd really rather not ditch this phone at the moment. I don't care if it involves rooting. The warranty is way beyond done, and the phone's already a brick, so experimenting doesn't worry me.
Just download this utility, put your phone to AP Fastboot mode, connect it to your computer and flash it.

I assume that you know how to boot into AP Fatboot mode,if you don't here's the thread for everything that you need

Update: If beer could be sent through the internet, you'd have a case of your favorite on your desk at the moment. This worked perfectly. The phone is brand new again.
But now it's time to get into trouble, aka "fun". When I ran RSD_Lite, it asked for a file name, so I pointed it to cdma_spyder_9.8.2O-72_VZW-16_1ff.xml (included in the zip file). If I wanted to root the phone, would I go searching for a different XML file? In other words, how different would the process be? My main goal would be a phone without all the preloaded crap from Verizon. I have no interest in overclocking, etc.

Not quite soft brick - Still need assistance

Alright, so I did a bit of a stupid thing and I acknowledge it. Anyway, here's my steps for what I did:
1). KingRooted the phone, SuperSUme'd to remove KingRoot's stuff
2). Flashed a deodexed ROM through FlashFire for OF1 using a how to list to upgrade and keep root(This is where I think I went wrong, I should have stuck with OC1 to begin with but I was curious ), the flash was successful
3). Because one of my apps(Greenify) requires the Xposed framework for many of the useful settings, I tried flashing a version of the framework designed for non-MDK bootloaders(Arter97's unofficial TouchWiz) through FlashFire, since it seems to be the only way to flash custom stuff on 5.0+ stuff at the moment
4). After this(Just like when I tried Arter's framework with regular OC1), my phone's Google apps started their mass crashing and force closing, which I tried to combat with factory resets but no dice
Unlike before, however, something along the line in my steps disabled the ability to go to stock recovery mode(I think it was KingRoot itself but it might have been the deodexed ROM) and after a bit I couldn't factory reset. Before, I was able to simply Odin flash the stock OC1 ROM. Now, however, Odin won't work either to restore the firmware. I always get the "fail" messages(This I'm not sure why, though it happens with both OC1 and OF1 ROMs so I don't think it's a matter of downgrading). This leaves me with very few options to recover from, especially because I've even tried Verizon's repair program(Stops at 83% and disconnects) and Kies' emergency recovery(Phone isn't recognized and upon manual recovery the result is the same).
The biggest thing that grinds my gears is that my phone isn't even bricked...technically. It started, it went to the Setup Wizard, but then the Setup Wizard crashed once the Gmail portion of the setup was supposed to start in an infinite loop....a "setup loop" rather than a boot loop. I have been working for hours to try and find a solution but so far nothing is working. My phone only starts to the "Software update failed, please use the Verizon Repair etc." message now but no program can recognize it.
Is this a form of hard-bricking? Just not having any method of recovery work even if it turns on? I will admit I'm not the most advanced user but I've been flashing ROMs and custom stuff(Using guides and the like, I'm not fluent enough to go freestyle) for years through a couple of different phones so I'm not a completely new user either. This is the most FUBAR'd I've gotten a phone so far though and I honestly can't afford a new one...that's why I'm going through all the paces I possibly can. Is there any possible way to salvage this? I've been wanting to go to the LG G3 anyway(Despite the G4 being out, the G3's cheaper and still miles better than any Samsung phone, my old one got stolen) but right now it's just not possible. Any suggestions?
Edit: After switching USB ports(Mine are notoriously bad for connections being gained and lost, my memory is bad but I can't see why I didn't think this was the issue), the Verizon repair method has made the phone able to start up. Everything seems to be in order now, more or less. I will say the custom Samsung screen(The unlocked one) came up which makes me think I still have the deodexed ROM installed. If so, then cool beans.
