[Q] Back up and restore - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello people,
I am Nathan and I am new to xda,
My phone is sony ericsson xperia x10(carrier - Rogers) recently I upgraded my android OS to gingerbread 2.3.3, after upgrading I searched the restore option in the menu to restore all my contacts and messages but too bad there is no such thing in the new OS, since I am a rookie in these things I asked my friend and he suggested me to reach XDA.
(before upgrading I created a back up file of all the contacts, messages and call log in the SD card)
so I need your help to restore all my contacts and messages.
ur help is greatly appreciated
thanks

With which program did You do the backup?

I used the stock back and restore option

Try this:

If that doesn't help, you can restore 2.1, then install MyBackup, make a backup, then update to 2.3.3, again install MyBackup and restore data.

the whole process took me about 10 mins.

[Q] Nandroid restore fails 2.2

Hi all,
So, I gave this HTC Aria to my girlfriend with Liberated 2.1 installed. She ran into some troubles, why I asked her to install the new liberated 2.2 version from this forum. I backed up the phone with nandroid. I told her how to wipe and install the new software over the phone.
Now she started it and all the apps, texts and documents are gone.
What can I do to get it back on an easy way? Restoring only the DATA-part of the backup from nandroid didn't work. Will a full restore get her back to 2.1 or will it implement here data and apps into 2.2?
Is reinstalling the 2.1 ROM and restoring afterwards a possibility to get her back to status quo?
Thanks so much in advance!
restore her backup which will take her back to 2.1 with all her data. Go to app market and download my backup root. Pick what you want to back up. Then delete cache and data and install 2.2. Go download my backup root and click restore. Now restore your data and most of the data will be there after the phone reboot besides the android settings, sometimes clock alarms, and bookmarks.

Wow, sounds great!
Thank you very much!!!
No problem

Ok, problem solved, which should've been asked in the Q&A thread by the way.

Help! messaging app damaged

Hi to everyone I really need help, I installed the lastest leak in my photon and yesterday I was trying to install the Alien rom, I couldn't make it load so I restored the last rom (the leak), anyway when I was restoring the apps withTitanium Backup I accidentaly restored a messaging app that I have from another phone I think I got an error in the process, the messaging app looks fine but is not sending or receiving anything it's just empty when I try to send a message , is ther any way to restore this app without havinng to pass through the long process of restorng the rom, any help will be apreciated.
I recall restoring the Dialer data SMS/MMS/APN app, app+data mode and it told me that is a system app and I selected restore anyway accidentaly, what I don't remember is if this was a backup from another phone, I think it was.
Nevermind I've restored only the system partition and works fine now

Stock x10mini pro Android 2.1 backup

Hi all,
I would like to ask you which is the best way to backup my x10mini pro (contacts, sms, mms ...) I dont need to back up apps. I know that this topic should be somewhere there but I was unable to find it.
After backup I would like to install Ginger Bread and restore my data. On my HD2 there is no problem with all that because I have rooted phone, but on the x10 mini pro Iam lost.
Thanks in advice

Well I used that program, but it just didn't backup my sms and mms. I am going to find another one ...
just hit advanced restore instead of restore with gosms and it will bring you the backuped data to restore
just use superbackup app

Retrieve SMS from Xperia Play Nandroid Backup onto SGS-III

Hiya guys, nice to be on a new section of the forum
I've got a bit of a problem.....
Just bought a SGS-III and traded my old Xperia Play in for it. Before trading it in I did a full Nandroid backup, and THOUGHT I had backed everything up using Titanium too, however, my messages weren't backed up
I had some messages on that phone that I need to get back, so have been trying everything I could to find them in the Nandroid backup and add them into the system og my new SGS-III.
If anyone can help it would be great!!
This is something REALLY important to me, and for once I am really begging for help.
I was using Go SMS and Go Launcher Pro on the Play and I have already downloaded Go SMS onto the SGS-III.
The XPlay was on Gingerbread 2.3.4 and the SGS-III is on 4.1.2.
I have now tried AppExtractor from the market, and using unyaffs to get files from my back-up. Neither have worked for me
Found this and tried it, but still no luck

I did this yesterday using Titanium Backup for my SMS/MMS
You need to go into Preferences and check the *Migrate system data [Experimental] option
Then you go to More - Extract from nandroid backup
There it is listed as Dialer Storage
You can probably do the Phone log this way to but I did look for it.
I would recommend you do a current backup of [SMS/MMS/APN] Dialer Storage before you attempt this.
