[Q] How to enable Soft-Keys? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Would this also work on the Galaxy S 4?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1960460

Didn't work for me, I read a comment from some one on here that said Samsung gutted the navbar stuff from touchwiz
*edit apparently 3minit settings can add it in don't have an s4 at the moment to test it

As mentioned, Samsung removed all the softkey code from TouchWiz, so it's not a matter of just switching the thing on - you need a ROM that has specifically included softkeys. Dubbsy's Google Edition ROM has an option to include them when you flash it, and HyperDrive comes with a script you can run to turn on the navbar, although it's bugged in the current release and just makes the system UI crash over and over. I'm sure there are others, but those are the only two I've tried that incorporate software buttons.

Where is this script you speak of for softkeys for hyperdrive?

It's in data/media/HyperdriveROM/Scripts. But like I said, don't run it if you're on release 8.1. All it does is crash the UI constantly - you don't even get the navbar in addition to the bugs.

Why did Samsung remove it? (I'm currently using UDN as a replacement)
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app

I've played around with an app in google play called Ultimate Dynamic Navbar that was pretty cool. gives you a navbar that can be minimized. only downside is that it overlays whatever app youre in, so not a "true" navbar.
*requires root*

U can use 3mint framework, there is an option where u can enable soft keys

From their point of view, why have it? The GS4 has hardware buttons; navbar code would be pure legacy if all you're worried about is supporting the stock OS.

Simplistic Framework for 7105

This is my port of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2029712 for Note II LTE.
Compatible with MC3 & MF2. Deodex only (I don't know, how to make odexed vedrsion)
All credits to LegendK95.
This is not official Simplistic Framework and it not supported by LegendK95 but it fully functional.
Since it made for my phone, it was slightly changed according my requirements and taste.
Changes:
Auto brightness fix included (faster up transitions, removed lock zone)
USB/OTG unmount fix.
Brighter graphics (better visibility on sunlight).
Date & time in status bar sensitive to fingers.
Next alarm info will not remove operator name.
Added Internet speed.
Added "Recent tasks" button.
Clear all button disappears completely and do not take space when invisible.
Fixed "emergency only" and "no Internet" text overlapping.
Fixed NFC toggle.
Removed subsequent no charge dialogs.
Samsung battery replaced with my version (original Samsung routine works under battery icon when you select it in settings)

ROM, that I'm running. Close to WanamLite 1.3, but with SF and no Aroma.
To get it re-odexed after flash rename odex- directory inside archive to odex (will not work with TWRP)
For some kernel tweaks rename /system/etc/init.d- to /system/etc/init.d . It will also use preload partition as swap partition.

Can you create the same mod for the Moon ROM in this Forum (7105). The Moon ROM has the tablet features and it is using the same framework (MC3). However, some of the same files have been modified for the minitab features. I thinking you will need start with the files from that ROM then add your mod to it.
It's great!I will have a test if i get some time.

Only if it deodexed.
MC3 Refers to the last 3 characters in the build number.
Since this only works for Deodexed you have to get a deodexed ROM since stock is normally odexed.

Getting JB Style, Keeping TW Features - Hyperdrive & Nova

I'm assuming I'm not alone here, as I have seen many people across the forums saying that they have either already gone to, or are thinking of flashing an AOSP ROM, and are worried about losing all of those Samsung Goodies (Like hover, air gestures, eye control, TW Camera, etc.) They generally also seem to want the customizability of a custom rom, as well. So, let's discuss how people have gone about getting that JB feel on a TW ROM.
The way I currently have this set up is with the Hyperdrive 5.7 ROM as a base. With just that, you get a smoother, faster, and enormously feature-packed TW ROM. The customization you can accomplish with this ROM is very impressive, especially considering it is TouchWiz. On top of this, I'm running - yep, you guessed it - Nova Launcher.
Nova Launcher is, in my opinion, the obvious choice for getting stock JB feel on any device. Nova allows the important customizations made to Hyperdrive to continue working, while adding the JB feel right on top. I've also run the script from within Hyperdrive to enable the Nexus 4 Softkeys, and I've shut off the lights on the capacitive keys on the device itself. This makes them completely invisible, so the device looks much more like a Nexus device, if you like that sort of thing.
What do you guys think? What other options are out there? I'm looking to give some insight to users who may want to get this type of feel on their S4, while also getting some feedback or better/different ways of achieving this. Good luck, and happy theming!
looks good just get rid of the nav bar

What does the dialer look like? Still the ugly white?
What about incoming call screen?
Just changing the launcher doesn't make it AOSP themed.

Why don't you just go check out the ROM thread yourself before completely discounting it? No, it does not have the white dialer. It's very well themed and runs great.

I wasn't referring to the Eclipse ROM, which I see has AOSP dialer instead of TW dialer.

Yeah. So the dialer and incoming calls are both part of the TW base. Nova launcher is just that; a home/launcher replacement. Just as you said. Though I am sure there are theming options for these things through third party methods, since many people dislike TW appearances.
I am just trying to get more of an AOSP look/feel, doesn't need to be completely coated in JB.

Eclipse is a themed TouchWiz ROM with a couple AOSP parts. It is not built on AOSP base. I believe it has the air features and TW camera, as well as many others.

I fully understood the point of the thread which is why I suggested Eclipse ROM. It's Touchwiz based and includes all the Touchwiz gimmicks as well as the TW camera. It's most certainly NOT an AOSP ROM as you seem to think it is. It's just a very well themed Touchwiz ROM.

Hide Softkeys with Kitkat

Hi,
i'm still on 4.2.2 because of one only thing : i don't wanna see the softkeys anymore! (or just when i swipe up)
I read everywhere that "Auto Hide Softkeys" (that i use now) is buggy on kitkat, and that UDN Pro too.
Is there a solution to do the same thing?
Or have i to wait for an update of one of theses apps?
Thanks for your replies

You mean the navigation bar. I think its already present in PA Roms. You need to enable it in settings.

Have you checked out pie control? Or checked to see if your ROM supports it? Don't mean to put words in neo.ank mouth but, it might be what he is talking about.
Many ROM's support it.
One thing you have to remember is that you are dealing with a device that still has hardware buttons
Slim kat has an option for it but I had a lot of issues with slim. I've always preferred asop ROMs but I'd like the full google experience. Pie control is OK but I'd prefer something persistent.

Hard buttons are persistent..... I mean, with a launcher like Nova or Apex.. something to that effect, and the right .png files you could get the same effect modifying your dock but really, all you will be doing is taking up screen real estate.

[Q] How to get fully functional AOSP lockscreen?

Hello there!
I'd like to get a fully functional AOSP lockscreen on my Z2. So far I've installed "GEM Xperia Xposed" and enabled "Enable AOSP lockscreen" in its settings.
While this does in fact work for me, I'd like to customize the unlock-ring in the lockscreen with shortcuts. Conveniently, GravityBox offers exactly such functionality. However, the settings I make in GravityBox are simply not reflected on my lockscreen.
At first I thought that GravityBox maybe doesn't work at all under the stock Sony ROM, but settings like "Maximize Widgets on lockscreen" DO work for me. So it seems that maybe the Xposed-hook for customizing the unlock-ring is not working under my ROM.
Does anyone know of a module or .apk that I can install to get a fully functional AOSP lockscreen?
Many thanks in advance!
