Mine is a little loose but not like that maybe you should go to the store and compare or return that one.

Yup, since I unboxed it (blue). Can't say I really mind though
pebble white not loose at all
It is defective you can probably get it replaced. I am noticing that the pebble blue version has more problems than the marble white.

Did you find af solution, "lemond"? (Mine is doing the same)
Jan
Denmark
Bought the S3 the day it launched in Canada and as the provider (Telus) was powering up the first device for my upgrade, I noticed the power button to be loose and rather more flush than previous devices, GNex and Nexus S.
Asked for on spot replacement and the second unit was slightly better with more firm press... The power button still loose..
I also checked out another 4-5 units of white/blue versions and power button feel and "looseness" varies slightly but it is noticeable that it is not very firm...
I wonder if this is on purpose or come quality control issue at first few batches...
Anyone notice that?
mine has that problem too, also the button sometimes stays pressed... however just send it back for an exchange

Hmmm... I have checked out at least 6 GS3's and all still have the same looseness more or less.
However, my friends GS3 is a bit more firm YET we both have the exact same 'press/click' feel once you press it.
Haven't seen it stuck yet but I hope that wont be the case soon...
I wonder how many people have it and not realize it or don't care about it.. or whether there are just a good amount of bad batches..
I don't care about it if this is more common, but that's one shady power button Samsung!
I just exchanged my first S3 for a new one...and I now realize the power button is definitely not as firm. It clicks nicely if I press it dead-on-center but if I miss it a bit it's hard to press. My last one was very clicky and easy to press so this is annoying.
I am now past my 30 day return window...so...anyone figure out how to fix this themselves?
mine is marble white and yes it is a lil loose on the side but don't really effect me when pressing it. the center is firm but the side is a lil lose you can feel it when you slide your finger from one side to another. but i don't mind it.
my power button kinda loose on pebble blue SGS 3 :/ f*ing QC in samsung...
yes but it doesn't affect the phone

Hello Dear XDA members,
So I have an Amaze that you guys helped me root and install custom ROM on back in Jan, thanks! Now the power button is going out, it's very hard to turn the screen on and off. I have been using the camera button to turn the screen on but I can't turn it off with that button. If the phone runs out of battery I have a really hard time turning it back on.
I called HTC and they said I they will send me an RMA code but they didn't, after a few days I called back and they said while its still under warranty they can't help me because the phone was a demo unit originally. Well I got it from Craigslist not Tmobile so maybe that's why.
Anyway, is there a way to fix the button? I mean 11 months is a very short period for a $599 phone! Anyone knows how to fix this? I really appreciate it. Thanks !!
Ouch. I bought mine from craigslist too but checked my imei before buying. You can use a widget that will act as as power button. See if you can still push the button with ease if you take the phone out of its frame.

Well I guess his biggest sticking point is how to turn the phone on without a working power button. Same thing happens with Nexus One and there are easy workarounds (by plugging in and remove/insert battery repetitively). Is there such a work around for the Amaze?

I came from the nexus one to the amaze when it came out. Having broken power button phobia from the start, I've found "screen off and lock" from market for turning off the screen, and "quick boot" also from the market for reboot, etc. Don't know of any methods off hand to turn it on, once off...
I did however notice that with the back plate off it's easier to get a firm click pushing the power button with just my finger.

Check to see if its the actual button thats not working properly, or if its the back cover. My phone sometimes doesn't have the power button register when i press it down the first time, but its just the button on the back cover that's wearing down and not making contact with the phone. Take a look and hopefully thats all it is, and all you have to do is replace the back cover which runs you anywhere from 10-15 bucks on ebay :good:
google 'button remapper apk' and use it to set your camcorder button as your new power button.

Hey guys that you all! Installed the screen off and lock app and it works great! Thanks!
Removed the battery cover and the button works fine, I guess I just have to replace the battery cover.
Thank you all!!

What andy55 said works but only if the phone isn't completely off. This only works in sleep mode.
Also, try taking off the back cover and press and hold the rubber area with your fingernail where the power button should be. I found the button on the cover wasn't making adequate contact with the phone.
Hello. My GS2's power button is working about 20% of the time. Usually what happens is a short press acts as if it was a long press and the long press menu comes up and then if you press the button again it restarts. I had been running CM9 on it for about 6 months without any issues. I started overclocking about a month ago so I thought it might be a problem with the kernel I installed so I followed the tut to return it to stock using heimdall but after everything was reset the issue was still, well, an issue.
Ideally, I'd like to fix the power button but I bought this phone on ebay so I can't go to Samsung with a warranty. I have never taken my phone apart, but is it possible to fix it myself? I also read that you can install CWM touch and wake the phone up via volume buttons so how would I go about doing that? What are your suggestions? Thanks.

Yeah. I tried everything there except for taking it apart. I also found another thread that suggested that I enable the slide across screen to wake tweak from sirah kernel and that's what I have going right now.
I think your best bet is to replace the main board from a busted screen phone on eBay or continue what you are doing.

I have warrantied a Samsung phone purchased on Ebay with no issues.
If you are not under warranty, Mobile tech videos can fix that power button. The owner is an XDA member and has fixed phones for me previously. The service is $40.

Mine is a bit "loose" as well but I don't think it's defective. It's just the way it was manufactured.
Just got mines today and noticed that it's loose too.
Seems like that's how it is.
Hi,
The power button on my Redmi Note 10 has become too sensitive. It reacts to the slightest touch, I just put the case on it, they literally barely touch each other, and immediately the phone turns on or off. I had a problem with restarting tself, probably because the button is stuck. Does anyone know if the problem can be solved without changing the button, and what is the approximate price for the button?
My phone is out of warranty because camera glass and back cover are broken.
same thing happened to my volume down button
for me the solution was to press the button really hard until its sensitivity fixes itself

Just 4-5 seconds
Wow, it's real!
Last night I encountered this type of oversensitive, but now my F3 works properly.
I tried 3,4 times of few seconds strong pressing with towel, depends on your phone.
