[Q] Anyone else use ThL W7+ ? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This week, I received my new ThL W7+ Quad-core Android phone and I will be sharing some of my thoughts on this handset.
The model I got was the ThL W7+ and for this particular set, it came with 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM model. I think it is indeed a good bargain.
I bought a white one with a blue back case. It seems well suits the phone. The whole smartphone looks nice. I love the exterior design. It don’t have edges and touches good.
5.7 inch screen may be too large for some people but that’s what I need. Large screen make me feel better when watching movies and play 3D games. Gyroscope, G-sensor, light and distance sensors all built in. The 3D games are wonderful.
I also love watch videos on the Internet when I am out in cars or on subway. It runs smoothly. Two batteries also make it perfect. I won’t always worry that it will be dead.
I bought it from funbookes.com. Who knows it or ever buy products from it?
Does anyone else use ThL? What about your device?

I also purchased w7s a couple weeks ago. It is a nice phone for the price. However, I found out that Skype video call is not working properly. Microphone is not picking up the voice and only hear static noise with very fainted voice. I guessed that microphone is not switching over to speaker phone mode but I do not know how to fix this. Another problem is Netflix. It does not run. I can get into the main page but I cannot play videos.
I am wondering there is someone having similar problems or this is just for my unit.

Oh, one more thing. I could not use a hotspot feature with my ThL W7. It does not connect to the internet. Is there anyone who has a similar situation?
It is a nice machine over all but speaker phone with Skype does not work and no tethering (this could be caused by Android 4.2). It would be great to have these features working.

I got a reply from thlmobilestore.com and she suggested to take the defective phone to the local repair shop. So, I asked where the nearest repair shop is in Canada or United States. I am waiting for her reply. This phone is only less than two month old and should be covered by warranty.

I exchange a couple of emails since my last post. ThLmobilestore told me that there is no ThL local store in Canda. No comment with regards to United States. Then, they suggested me to use different post office. In one of their emails, it is mentioned that no carrier companies are accepted. I am not sure that I can find cheaper price sending this item to china with tracking number using canadian postal service.

Since my last post, there has been no progress. Thlmobilestore keeps on repeating two things. Look for a cheaper post office, or repair at local repair shop.
Are there any opinions?

After talking this problem for nearly one month, they are now telling me that ThLmobilestore do not cover shipping cost after one month. They claim that it is in their policy. I do no remember reading it, but I can not prove there was no statement like that. So, my choice is to either send this unit and get fixed hoping no extra charge, or not to send this unit and keep this phone as is.

After receiving an email from thlmobilestore saying that they will pay me back shipping fee, I decided to send my unit for repair. It has been arrived there two days ago and it will take 15 business days to repair. They have not stated how to pay me back postage fee.

I have received a email from ThLmobilestore.com saying that 'we have received your repair item and will send it to our factory for repair, it will take 15 working days'. Based on the record from Canada Post, it was delivered to them on September 9. It has been 5 days since. There is no mentioning with regards to postage fee refund.

My unit came back after repair. No sign of refund for my postage fee which they promised. I sent some emails asking for refund but they kept on saying that they made a mistake to promise refunding the postage fee.
After this repair, camera was fixed with a sign of instability (hopefully not going to break again). But tethering is still not functioning. I sent a couple additional email to this thlmobilestore.com to ask why this is still not working. And now they are asking me to send my unit back for repair. It just doesn't make sense to me.
Is there anyone having a similar problems with this supplier?

I just got my rezound from Amazon wireless. I love the phone however I.have the light leakage and its already overheating. Do I.need to send it into Amazon or can I return it at a local Verizon store? I I've read both circumstances happening. Just wondering if anyone else has done either yet. Also if u send it in can u get a loner? This is my first Verizon phone. Thanks
I think you have to use amazon for the first 30 days then you can use verizon. It may be worth it to put up with it until verizon can help you.

I got both a Rezound and RAZR from Amazon. The Rezound is great, but I had some serious issues with the RAZR overheating and searching for signal. Called Amazon, they shipped me a brand new phone. Swapped SIMs, mailed the old phone back. Problem solved, and it didn't cost me a dime. Think shipping was 2nd day air.
EDIT: I also tried VZW first, because it would have been quicker, but they directed me to Amazon.
So they send one first... Have the replacement phones been without flaw or is it the same gamble. Might be better to wait the 30 days and use Verizon so I can check it...

The only reason I suggested waiting and using Verizon is that Amazon was backordered last time I checked.
Send back to Amazon. I just went through this and don't be afraid by the 2-5 week wait. They told. Me that and got an email a few days later it was being shipped.

Amazon is excellent for returns/exchanges hands down. I assume it will be the same process you request an exchange and they ship it out to you. They generally gave me overnight shipping for free (even on a saturday) to get me non-defective item. Then you just ship it back to them within a resonable time frame with the included label and you should be good to go.

Verizon has a 14 day policy normally, but now if you purchased the phone after 11-15 you have until Jan.
Wouldn't the phone have a warranty through htc as well? Sounds like ill be contacting Amazon tomorrow though. Thanks a lot guys. Hopefully that one doesn't have the light leak. Lol watch me have a new problem. Is rather have the leak than pink buttons and all the other problems I hear about...

All of them have the light leak at the bottom. It is simply how it was designed. Sad really considering my Incredible S didn't have this issue.

I'd be willing to bet that it was a CSA who probably doesn't understand what light leakage is. Between my 3 rezounds and everyone I have looked at in the stores you can see the LEDs through the bottom of the screen when the soft keys light up which is what is causing the bleeding. There is no way to fix it except by turning off the LEDs or by lowering their intensity to improve on the light leak.

Went into verizon and they won't take the phone tho it sounds like I may as well deal with it. They really pissed me off though. I wanted to put on my work discount. Supposed to be 22% line 20% data. I called and reviewed online before I got verizon and the rep told me I would get the discounts. The store wouldn't discount my data because he claimed I need to have a 5gb data and hotspot plan. I was never told this and most likely wouldn't have canceled at&t during the penny sale. Anyone think I could complain enough to get this changed? Can't seem to find a phone number for them to save my life lol

Hey guys, I just noticed in THIS thread that Best Buy has an offer going on where if you buy an AT&T or Sprint LGOG you should get a free headset with it.
From what it sounds like, it is a good headset.
I don't know when they started this or how long it will last, but it was confirmed still going on as of yesterday (1/5/2013).
If you bought an OG from Best Buy and didn't get a headset, you should be able to go in with your receipt and ask for the headset (others in the thread have been able to).
I have not been able to get mine yet, but my fingers are crossed.

Should be able to do this at any Bestbuy with the mobile section. Just bring your receipt.

Also print it out and/or be ready to pull up that screen for them on your phone or on their computer. Sometimes they don't know what promotions they are running on their website.

It is an online promotion but they will match the deal in store.
I just got my pair.
Typical BB, I probably talked to a person that knew what they were doing at the store. I chatted with BB online and was told to go to the store, return my phone, and when I repurchase the phone, I get the headset. What? I think that person made that up as we were chatting.

I'd try at another BB. I got my headset at the store one night and did not know of the free headset promotion. I read about it online and went back the next day and brought up that screen on their computer to show them and received the headset for free.
If the employee at the store told you that it's an online promotion, that is BS. They probably don't know what they are doing or are too lazy to do it. Ask to speak to a manager. If all else fails, try another BB. Good luck.
This sucks for me. I'm over 30 days but, I did order online and was considering getting the tones.

Just got mine, too. Had to get the store manager involved but polite persistence paid off. 2 things- as stated must be within last 30 days and store must have one in stock. You can check availability at BB website.

Noticed you are in Dallas... that is where I got mine... (Midway @ LBJ) it is the only store I am aware of ( in D-FW) that has any left. As I left, there were 8 more, White box in Cell phone area. Good luck. !!
I just picked up my new LGOG this afternoon armed with the knowledge that the advertisement for the LG Tone headphones is still on the Best Buy site. The employees couldn't find it anywhere on their books or searching the site themselves. After several minutes of them searching, I hopped on one of the laptops on display and Googled "Best Buy free bluetooth headphones optimus" and it came up as the first link. The guys saw it and honored it. At least at this store (Winston-Salem), they seemed fine with it, as long as it was somewhat legitimate. My guess is that there was just one page that didn't get cleared from the BestBuy.com site from when the promotion was going on. But, it's their mistake and they should honor it. I suspect they will catch on sooner or later and remove it. I also suspect that they don't sell many of these, so it might take some time before they bother.
Apparently, I'm the first one to buy the LGOG that either of the employees recalled. They didn't even know that the Rocketfish cases they had labeled for the AT&T version were actually for the Sprint (they were shocked that they were even different sizes).
Confirmed took my phone to bb they exchanged it and threw in the headset and a penny back. Took a lil sarcasm but eventually they went ahead and matched their own online promotion

Troublesome battery RMA adventure

So my Nexus 10 suffers from the faulty battery level indicator issue. Other than that, it's been fantastic. 9.5 out of 10. I even get the described 8 to 10 hours of battery. However, not all is well in Nexus Land. My battery indicator gets stuck, and the device shuts down as a result when the charging status changes. I have finally tired of this. I've heard and read plenty of horror stories about the RMA process. Still... Today, I call Samsung, and this post and thread will become a running log of my RMA adventures. Wish me luck.

UPDATE 1: Calling Samsung at 10:43am EST.
UPDATE 2: Got a human at 10:45am. Transferred to a specific Nexus department at 10:47am.
UPDATE 3: Still no human in the Nexus department at 10:56am.
UPDATE 4: At 11:04am, decide to chat with Samsung support online. Within one minute, I'm on live chat with tech support. Still on hold on phone service.
UPDATE 5: 11:09am, on live chat. Have hung up on phone support due to over 20 minutes of waiting.
UPDATE 6: 11:13am, I have been instructed to call their service number. My patience is waning fast. Never buy a Samsung product. My fiancee needed only about 15-20 minutes to get her Asus TF300T warranty squared away. I am informing him that I've been on hold for a long time now.
UPDATE 7: At 11:17am, I have been informed that Samsung ONLY services the Nexus 10 through their phone number. I'll have to call that number later today to get service. My log will continue then. I am most displeased. Love the tablet, but Samsung is terrible for support.
Update 8: Just spent 28 minutes on the phone with Samsung. I am to send the tablet to their repair center. Hopefully they can repair it without imparting further issues on it.
An update. I am packaging it up to deliver to Samsung. They say it will be gone for two weeks, and will be reflashed with stock images. Joy. Backing up my device now. Sending it out later today. Hopefully they will actually repair my Nexus.

Ive had GREAT support with Samsung via twitter. I only contact them through it and they fixed my burned in screen on my Galaxy Nexus and my busted memory on my nexus 10.
Fast turn around time too.

Check your warranty manual and when you call again, tell them you were put on hold. The gentleman that transferred me didn't put me on hold until he had another human ready for immediate pickup.
@zoomy: I don't have or use Twitter, but I was specifically told online (where I got prompt service) that the Nexus devices ONLY get phone service.
Another update: Package is ready to go, shipping label is printed, and I take it to the shipper this afternoon.

It is now the 18th, and Samsung has not updated the RMA request to let me know if they've received my unit.
Anybody else have experience with their RMA department and its timeliness?
EDIT: They received my unit as of 2 hours, 46 minutes ago. No updates past that yet.

They have you call Samsung, since Samsung made it.
It took my N10 3 weeks to get back to me after getting a similar battery issue (charge % stuck at a constant value) repaired. I live in Australia though so it's probably to be expected. It was repaired by the retailer I brought it from.

Man, thats lame. I just RMA's my N10two weeks ago that I bought end of Nov and they did it through Google Play. (I had to pony up $500 on the credit card for them to ship the RMA unit though, which will get refunded when they process my return. They say its a "hold" and not a "charge" but there is no effective difference.)
Maybe you could hound Google and get a different rep? Or maybe you could get Samsung to concede and then have them actually replace the device.
Either way, that is not what you had in mind when you dropped $500 on a premium tablet - weeks of phonecalls and waiting! But despite all that frustration you still need this fixed...

I would wait until May for the UK release. For the sake of waiting a few more weeks it'll save a lot of hassle if you get one that has 'issues'

Make sure seller is highly rated do not buy from seller who has got bad feedback or small amount of feedbacks. Ask them before purchase if it is gonna work in the UK. Charging will be different than UK standards you have to buy your own one that's for sure. Be very careful you can't risk that much money pay with PayPal and if it is OK make the payment "pay after delivery" .

It looks as if you only get a 1 year warranty compared to the usual 2 year warranty. I personally would rather wait a couple of weeks and get it from the UK. Imagine 6 months down the line you need to send it for repair under warranty...to China!!! Or you get one with a defect and need to return it. To me it would be too much of a pain for the sake of waiting. Just my opinion though [emoji6]...

Myself on 3 network UK get a free Sony btx 300 bluetooth speaker. Had to fill in info on Sony site. Worth about 100 quid said will take about 14 days I think

I'm still waiting for mine too, disappointingly I called the 3 store and the guy there said they were out of stock and said he'd try get my upgrade reversed if I wanted to cancel the phone?!?!

I ordered mines via the Sony three offers Url on the evening of the 1st of May. I'm am still waiting. I didn't receive anything by email mind and it has got me wondering.
Why did you ask the three store?.I'm curious as I thought it was only redeemable via the above Url?
I got no reply after 5 days from the site and my work is nearby.
I just asked where mine was and if anyone's got their speaker yet and was told it was out of stock.
The guy then offered to speak to his manager about getting my upgrade reversed if I wasn't happy.
This was in Manchester.

Well I am glad it's not just me then. I'll give it a few more days and try to find someone relevant at Sony to email.
The btx300 was included in my deal from phones4u, no waiting for mine tho, it turned up with the phone, i didnt get my google play or smartband vouchers till friday just gone tho, 2 weeks after phone
I'm sure you'll all find out tomorrow. that way those that bought for the offers but missed out, can't return handsets.

Called the people at Sony (01296 717922) on Monday and asked where my speaker was. They said that it should be all sorted by the end of this week. They advised to call them on Thursday/Friday to see what the arrangements will be for delivery, in my case I want to make sure it is delivered to my work address. So my advice is to call them around the same time. Apparently the delay has been caused by Three not confirming the account data to match the IMEI of the device.. but anyway, call them on the above number at the end of this week.
It's the same as o2's tablet deal. They're all not doing anything until after cooling off period, it's to reduce the amount of peeved off people who miss out, returning the phones and cancelling.
