I can't mount my microSD card. When I do it via System Settings->SD Card and Device Storage->Mount SD Card my Galaxy Player just freezes up. If it tries to automount the microSD Card, for example, during "Media Scanning" when I boot up, the "Media Scanning" just continues forever because my microSD Card can't mount. How do I fix this problem? On a side note, when I look at my system apps I see that "Android System" is 0.00 bytes.
Here is a list of my background apps: Settings, WidgetLocker, DRM Content, SNS, Google Services, Maps, DSPManager, and Google Korean Keyboard
I'm pretty sure there used to be another background app running but ever since this issue occurred I haven't seen it running.
Try a factory reset and maybe reinstalling whatever rom you have

Didn't work. I even did it again, this time formatting /system as well, but when I rebooted after reflashing my external SD card still would not mount and "Android System" was still 0.00 bytes.

Android system that size doesn't matter.
What ROM are you running?

The same thing happened to me. You're going to have to format it in your computer.
Also, is this a SDHC SD card?

Ah, yes, I popped in a different microSD card and it was fine, so I guess I will have to format the malfunctioning (or rather, "misfunctioning") microSD card. Yes is is SDHC

I meant it's the SanDisc card (it randomly becomes corrupted too, and it's pretty much unusable, for me). Hopefully the Kingston SD card that I ordered won't do the same.

So I had a 16 gb external sd card in my rezound, realized that I would like more space so I bought a 32 gb card. The new card worked for about a week and no longer works. I have an sd card exploring app and it sees the files on the card but my phone does not even recognize the card is inserted.
Another thing to mention is that with the old card, my phone would not display the available space on it or give me the options to unmount and mount. Now when I put both of these cards in an sd card reader and insert them into my desktop the computer does not see that a card has been inserted. I have checked it with other mini SDs that I have and the computer sees them, so I don't know what gives! Any ideas??
P.S. I am running on the ICS 3.14.605.10 RUU
Sounds like you have a bad card, can you format it?

Well the weird thing is that both the stock and the card I bought are doing the same thing. And I tried formatting, but since I can't view the cards on my computer or phone I have no way of formatting.

I have the same almost problem, I have to manually mount the SD card after every reboot, but it does recognize it after mounting.

If you have TWRP or Amon, mount USB storage and format from your computer.

I have the exact same problem. I tried switching cards and formatted the new one before I put everything on it. It still is missing after every reboot...Annoying, but at least it's still there....
Not sure if this is the issue but it may help to try:
If you are on GB firmware and running an ICS rom, download and flash this in recovery. It is a GB firmware patch and after you flash it, sd card mounting problems are fixed.
Hi there guys
I have been having a problem with 3 sandisk 64gb micro sd cards. I always got them replaced but it is getting frustrating now. Obviously they are formatted in exfat format.
The problem starts when I copy data of over 30 gb. Once i copy the data n the sd is remounted or the phone is restarted i always get the message "damaged sd card" but when i read the card on pc through an adapter it shows the contents ok. So i want to know if anyone can help me so that I may not need to return the card this time around...

Try to format it first in the phone, then start loading data on it.

I also tried it buddy but none of the methods seem to work .. i also tried formatting it then copying data through sd card reader as well as the phone itself... does it have to do anything with some file system issue or kernel related issue... im on stock kernel rooted...

also had the same problem. i formatted the card to fat32 with 32xxx sectors with "GUIFORMAT" app for windows, the it works ok.
then after fat conversion, you can try to format the card to exfat using any app (not the windows one) search google, then it might work, didnt try myself as fat32 works great, and i can use it with the script that makes the card the phone memory, so now i got 64gb instead of 11.6gb of phone storage

where formatted?
how much fully card with data?
witch rom, kernel?
I have the class 10 64Gb Sandisk sd card too with no problems.
Card has about 55Gb info on it and I didn't format the card. Just put it into the phone. Recognised instantly and haven't looked back.
I have a 2nd SGSIII too with a 64gb class 6 sandisk sd card. Same applies but with a little less data on it.

[Q] Can't mount external sd (Rootbox ICS)
I've been using RootBox ICS 1.8 with V6 and pdroid patch (made by autopatcher 2.1.5) for a while now, everything was fine until yesterday my phone was auto powered off a few times after the battery ran out.
I can't mount the external SD card now, it's recognised by the phone and I have the option to choose "Mount SD card", but it's not actually mounting the card. When I tap it, "Preparing SD Card...." will flash for a second, then disappear without actually mounting.
CWM is unable to mount the sd card either. Taking the battery and sd card out also doesn't make any difference.
What should I do? Will reflashing the rom help, or does it sound like a hardware problem?
It did happened to me and I think the yung mmc is messed up. Have you tried using it on other phones?
UPDATE:
Okay... it seems the sd card is busted. Windows can only detect 30MB from it (it's a 32GB card). Is there anything I can do before asking the shop for warranty?

Hmm... partition wizard just shows me 30.6MB no matter what I do. I guess it's time to find out whether that 5 year warranty will hold...
my S2 is currently running 4.1.2 and rooted with SiyahKernel S2-v6.0beta6, I have a 64GB Sandisk Micro SD formatted in NTFS and mounted with NTFSSD, I can access all the files on my SD card with file explorer and watch movies store on the SD card with no issues.
However, I still get a notification icon of "Blank SD card error", and when I connect the phone to the computer, only the phone storage is detected.
How can I fix this?

Not sure why this happens. Here are your options:
1) Try to format it to the default which i think is FAT and leave everything else alone
2) Look at the thread for the specific kernel and see if others are having the same problem.

Most of the Blank SD error has nothing to do with me, those are issue like corrupt SD card etc, mine is about NTFS mounting on rooted S2 running Jelly Bean.
is there anyway to fix this, I can't find a solution
it's seem all I need to do is disable Android's Auto mounting because media scan is draining my battery.

FW, do you mind me asking how you fixed? I'm having the same issue now on my wife's gsii, and to backup everything she has on her SD card would be quite the pain, so trying not to reformat it. I verified everything's still on the card, and it works fine when in my phone or the desktop. But I keep getting the "blank SD card" error. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi I am having the same problem, can you share how you fixed it?!
my 32 class 4 sandisk died 2 weeks ago, on my t989 s2.
other cards do work on the phone. i've tried formating the card in the phone and my computer with sd adapter. no luck. i'm using jedi mind trick rom.
wow i recover my files
hi guys, i had same problem, but then i set this sandisk ultra to my nokia xpress music and there was everything,,, my arc s cant open it anymore but nokia opens... try to reset your sd s to others phone...
I was in ES file explorer trying to move files to my external sd card and all of the sudden I get an error saying task failed. I can't delete or copy anything to my external sd card now. It's a 64 gb Class 10 Sandisk Ultra micro sd card. I formatted it to Fat 32 a long time ago. I don't know what's going on. And now all of a sudden Root browser in Root Explorer doesn't work either. I can't write anything on my phone. I even reverted back to stock android to see if it was the rom problem and that wasn't it either. I'm completely lost in the dark now.
I'm running CM12 Beta on my G3 if that means anything.
Try getting into it via twrp I had a problem like that a while back and I tried twrp and it did work I ended up wiping via twrp. You can also try putting it in your computer and partitioning it. I my self repartitioned it and just deleted the current one and made a new one. It seems that some roms or apps ect can cause the software in the sd card to become corrupted also try mounting and unmounting it before you delete anything.
If you are rooted you need to download SDfix from the play store. It says kit kat but works with 5.0.X fine. SD write access is still limited in lollipop unless the app creator allows SD access. If you were on zv6 on a custom rom it was probably baked in.

Yeah I tried formatting it and everything. The micro sd card is stuck in read only mode. I think it's dead. I put the micro sd card back into my S4 and my S4 couldn't write to it either. I ran CHKDSK on command prompt and it said that there's a corrupt file on the mciro sd card but it can't repair it because the micro sd card is stuck in read only mode. I tried to format it usng the SDFormatter and nothing is working. I used google and people are saying that when a micro sd card goes into read only mode it means that it's about to die. :c sucks cause it was 64gb and I've only had it for a year.
I had 2 SanDisk 64GB cards go bad soon after I formatted them to FAT32. I don't know why, but it happened. SanDisk could not explain it, but they were really good about replacing the cards.

I would contact SanDisk about it but I got the SD card in October of 2013 from BestBuy as a birthday present and I don't have the original packaging or receipt so I don't have proof of purchase so I doubt I'd be able to get the micro sd card replaced.

Chat with SanDisk. IIRC, they didn't ask me for a receipt, just where and when the card was purchased. It has a lifetime warranty, they will replace it and will even send you a free shipping label.
I have the same problem, I was copying files to my external sd card from internal and all of a sudden it said "moving files failed" and then nothing on my sd card would show up, though on storage information it shows that it's mostly full. But all the files are unreachable until I reboot then everything is fine while I'm listening to music, but if I stop for a while or try to move anything it messes up again. Anyone know of a fix?
I'm on lollipop, but the sd fix app would not do anything for me... Running Danvdh's Google Play Edition Rom
