Never had the S so I can't speak for battery life......but Samsung has released official JB 4.1.2 to this phone, and it runs it well.......and rumor has it that the S2 will get official 4.2.2 as well.....so JB for this phone? Not a problem

I have a friend and i want to install a custom rom on his phone, can you give me some suggestions?
Ps: another question, i can't find Galaxy Gio gt5660 in XDA and i saw already some posts of people looking for it. Does Gio have a compatible rom for it or we should wait till someone make one?
Thanks

Which of them is the best and fastest?
-WanamLite Rom
-Lite'ning Rom
-MikiMod CarbonOcean
-SensatioN ROM
-Simple & Clean
-CriskeloRom
-Omega Series
The same question is asked literally every day. Please spare us one today and move along.
Although this question has been asked everyday, each time I answer it, I would proudly state that CriskeloROM is my ideal choice, with it's constant updates to the latest build numbers, massive collection of tweaks and add ons, and the recently Criskelo APK that adds the other themes into it. Try it, you will not regret.

Is there a thread comparing benchmarks, number of bugs and stability? I saw one "The race for battery life" or something like that comparing the battery.

Hey.
How is ICS smoothness on S3 compared to S2 ICS?
On SGS2 i9100 the official ICS is not as smooth as it was on Gingerbread. The touch just seems off.
Is this fixed on S3? Or is it still the same as S2?
Thanks.
It's better than on s2, but it aint as perfect as on s2 gingerbread, the touch difference was the reason i always had to revert to gingerbread on the s2 after trying the various ics firmwares. I use a specific remote desktop program daily and in that program it was very noticeable that the mouse control was not perfect in anything but s2 with gingerbread.

For me it's better then s2 gingerbread
Skickat från min GT-I9300 via Tapatalk 2
I think also that S3 ICS is smoother than S2 (intl. or G version) ICS
Early firmware is nowhere near as smooth as the final Gingerbread builds on SGS2 and is not even as smooth as ICS on SGS2 . But that is early firmware like the SGS1 and 2 it should improve in time .

Main reason for that is because of the update from "continous" scrolling and "elastic" scrolling..
Gingerbread= Continous Scrolling
ICS= Elastic Scrolling

You think s2 with ics is smoother then s3? I promise you, something must be real bad with your device like having power saving mode or something.

Eh, not even as smooth as ICS on SGS2? Sorry, but the SGS3 feels blazing fast... even compared to SGS2.
And it will only get better indeed...

I have both and if you read my post last custom GB on SGS2 has so far not been surpassed by ICS .
But that's my opinion and based on my experience yes fast at times then decides to hang for a second or two .All custom roms all kernels so far >>> must go back to stock and test that .

SGS3 is crazy smooth
I have the T Mo version of the SGS3 & the Sprint SGS2. I was running cm9 alpha6 on my SGS2 & when I used the SGS3 side by side, I immediately switched back to GB brecause its so smooth. I thought ics was really smooth on my S2 until I used it on the S3. I cant get the S3 to hang or lag no matter how hard I try. Its just as smooth as GB on the S2 except its faster as far as pinching & zooming in the stock browser on heavy flash sites goes. Even 3rd party apps on the S3 don't lag at all. It cant get smoother than this thing, Once you get over 50+fps I really dont think u can tell the difference.
Hey guys i have an S2 that i bought second hand and with the box that is IMEI matched box it has 2 manuals(swedish & Norwegain) so i suspect its the nordic s2. I've tried *#1234# and i just get an error on that so i cant tell its CSC version. The other thing is im running on cm10 4.1.1 jelly bean with siyah 4.1.5 kernel. I want to go back to the original ICS 4.0.4. Now i'm located in the pakistani region n i've seen that i should have firmware that have JP codes. I'm confused since my s2 maybe from nordic region should i flash that firmware or since im located in pakistan should i flash the JP version.?? please help guys it will be greatly appreciated.
The main reason i wanna go back is becoz of battery issues, i've tried everything possible, lowest brightness, extweaks, unvolting , wake locks n several modem changes.. i'm running on XXLPS modem which i find is the best for me out of others.. i cant seem to find the JP code modem that is recommended for my region .. So im hoping the samsung original ICS 4.0.4 will give me a better battery life. Right now i barely get 2 hours of screen time. and i start texting for like 15 mins the battery falls like crazy.. I've calibrated the battery and everything possible, i have around 4200 mV when my battery is fully charged.. Could it be an issue with my battery? how can i test to see if my battery is working normal? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. thanks guys..
Please can you also give me suggestions as to which rom would be the best for battery life?

first the samsung code *#1234# will not work on Custom roms like CM10, u can dwnld the stock ICS 4.0.3(4.0.4 is not recommended as its not stable compared to v4.0.3 and has this dreaded 'eMMc brickbug' in it) from www.sammobile.com pertained to ur region and use 'Odin' on ur PC to flash the same to ur phone
Imo Latest SlimBean+Dorimanx kernel (with tweaked 'battery profile) is very good.

At last i used it About > 18 hours with screen on time ~ 4 hours with ordinary mid use.
Ofcoz u or anyone could gain it much more if u optimize the extweaks deeper & safest (without freeze & sod)
But atm I've been using latest cm10+dorimanx 7.1 since those were updated mali driver & daily new features & bugfix..

Mali was a codename for our gpu which is integrated by exynos 4210 SoC.
Since it's not full open sourced by Samsung, CM Team had a creative to pull a new mali driver from i9305 leak to make it updated a fix worked in cm10 which provides better graphics performance & some stability.
Follow @samsungexynos & boom their any tweets by "please release 4210 full docs now..!" etc.. they've been in big pressure now by s2 communities..

My sister has a s2. I was telling her about the soon to be out jelly bean update and about the system memory shrinkage of 1 GB. So its basically her question that is it really to flash or let the ics do its work? Well me for my note is dying for the official JB. For now 4.0.4 is rocking my phone.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Well, if you're rooted and can do a Nandroid, do it.
Do a Nandroid backup of your current state and flash JB for a test run.
Let the user judge the worthiness.
If the user thinks its not worthy, restore the Nandroid backup.
arilyag 500
i'd say it really depends on the phone...
best to make a nandroid backup before upgrading.
i've gone to JB twice (ParanoidAndroid and Neatrom) but went back to ICS
PURELY for the reason that i wasnt able to get good deep sleep on JB but there are many people who have no issues with this.
There were a few system related apps where I just prefered the ICS versions as well so i wouldnt say its specifically JB related.
I never had any issues running Neatrom 4.0 and PA on JB on my S2, i usually remove all bloatware and replace launcher with apex so everything seems quick to me
As all custom rom have bugs because of sources not available but stock jb will be bug free and should have deep sleep/good battery backup. So i think its fully worthy...
-more battery drain
-more features
-not much modded kernels ready yet
-it's jb, and really much smoother
-some bugs, but in everyday use really hard to spot them
Galaxy note
I would galaxy note n note2 are best to enjoy JB. N features like ripple lock with ink effect n specially videos n multi window on an huge screen.
If u feel note2 is expensive note1 is another real good option n buyable tooo..
Try the leaked xxlsj, it's very fast and the only issues I've been having are battery drain when browsing web and lock screen lag. It brings lots of enhancements to ics!
Well thanks for the help. A backup would be a good solution before taking the risk.
Lets see JB responds on it. But what about the 1 gb sacrifice for the system apps can we repatition it???
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
do the nandroid but honestly i suggest waiting for the official
its supposed to have a lot of things worked out as compared to the leaked xxlsj.
i liked xxlsj but i would def try JB again official leak on my s2

Yes i am waiting for the official. I dont use custom roms. Rooting is all what i want . Actually my devices are for professional use . So troubleshooting official is easy.
My other question is if the upcoming JB rootable? If someone has tried rooting on the leaked version?
