System apps. - Sony Tablet S

I'm trying to figure out if anyone knows how to install system apps, I have downloaded a romantic for the tablet z and another aosp tablet. Trying to change the ui and settings apk on my tablet s. But I can't seem to get anything to install. Fixed properties and push to system apps like any other time. But won't work. I tried it on my phone and it worked fine. Any ideas?

If your tablet is first gen Tablet S, API 16 and 17 (Jelly Bean) apps won't work on tablet. You must find a API 15 (ICS) version of app.

If your Xperia Tablet S is running Android 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean), then the API Level is 16.
If it is running any release of Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich), then the API Level is 15.
The Xperia Tablet Z is currently running Android 4.1.2, which is also API Level 16.

That's what I thought. I just can't figure out why the apps won't install when pushed to system/apps

Are you attempting to push directly to /system or to a temporary directory first?
Are you temporarily setting /system to R/W?
How are setting /system to R/W?
Are you remembering to set the app's permissions?
Are you setting /system back to R/O?

Yeah, pushing them directly to system / apps. It's R/W. The permissions are set properly also. Using es file explorer

What is a good android emulator for windows xp?
Is there any way I can try out Sense 4.0 on my pc with an emulator?
Thanks!
The emulator that comes with the Android SDK is ok especially now that they allowed hardware acceleration.Abd as fir the sense thing you would have to load up a custom rom and there is a tutorial on how to do this just google for it.

The most realistic one is the Android sdk since it emulates ARM hardware which means it can get a bit laggy. The smoothest one is Bluestacks alpha but its running an x86 build of Android which makes it fast on x86 hardware but restricts apps. Looking forward to their beta that is supposed to have ARM compatibility and still be fast.
The android sdk I tried but I cant install .apk that are on my computer. Ill have to try installing a rom.
Bluestacks looks interesting. Is there a download link for the alpha?

Yes but.....
Hello,
Yes, but the beta version coming soon, actually android 2.3.4 ( in the future ??? )
asks go(d)ogle or on XDA there's mod
Note : for XP, need SP3 and 1gb memory (min.)
Use HD-ApkHandler.exe in the install dir ( the two services "BlueStacks Log Rotator Service"(for log) and "BlueStacks Android Service" (for SDCard.fs) must be run).
Tricks to edit SDCard.fs > Stop services and use Winimage.exe, it work very fine

They pulled the alpha download since a beta is coming soon. Google the following file and you'll find 3rd party download links. Its about 120MB.
BlueStacks_HD_AppPlayer_setup_0.6.2.0563_REL.msi

But I don't think they are too far away from the beta release, put your email in on their website to be a beta tester. Really hoping the beta is running ICS. I look forward to seeing how smooth they can get ARM emulation running. They want it to work well enough for games so the end product shouldn't be laggy. Part of the reason the alpha is fast is because its only virtualizing since its running an x86 build of Android.
BlueStacks Beta got released today http://bluestacks.com/
Unfortunately its not working on my pc

Porting ICS Apks to GB

how to port applications on ICS to work on GB? because when i get the apks from ICS and try to install them on GB it says "Problem Parsing the Package"
I want to know too
Sent from my WT19i using xda app-developers app
Maybe u should extract the apk, modify the couple first line on androidmanifest.xml
See GB app for example.

bump..
anyone?
please someone can do this?¿?¿?
It's very hard/nearly impossible to do so 'cos ICS has many new libs and a new sdk version.
ICS has whole new API level, which GB doesn't support at all.
i think it is impossible because GB and ICS has different API level ..
ICS has API level 14 and GB only level 10, so the app will not work until the app dev create it to run with GB and older ..
I guess it'd be easier just to migrate to ICS if xou can't live without those apps.
Once i read a tutorial for installing the JB Voice search on ICS, and they just changed some lines in a file system, I don't remember wich one, but it's possible

Yes, but look at the api level:
GB: 10
ICS: 14-15
Jelly Bean: 16
Get it? If you try what you just said, it'll be MUCH more lines to add
is this still impossible?

Same here...
In proper rooting on
S4/i9505/Stock JB 4.3/XXUEMJ5
Error with GameCIH Version 1, 2 & 3
System denied to root..
Gamecih doesn't work on Honeycomb and above it
Like others, use gamekiller.
Sent from my GT-P3110 using Tapatalk now Free
Doesn't work on honeycomb and above? You mean Android 3.0 above? Are you sure? But its working on my SGS3 running on 4.2.2 JB Stock/Rooted even when it was on 4.1 and also when im using SGS2 before and running on 4.0 ICS/4.1 & 4.1.2 JB. I can run gameCIH on those phone above very smooth without issues on ROOTED STOCK AND CUSTOM ROMS. Then, when my S4 came up a few days ago, the stock os is 4.2.2 and i let it update to 4.3 after the firmware after that i quickly rooted it. After that i update the binary, update busybox, etc. All my apps that asking for a root access was granted and run perfectly as expected, titanium, rom toolbox, rom manager, root explorer. I can change r/o to r/w, i can run terminal emulator, i can modified some UI with Xplode app, i can use modded playstore from LP. Etc.... What im saying here is nothings change regarding on apps that accessing root just like before except gameCIH v1, v2 & v3.
Why the system deny to root?
Is it the
A. gameCIH app or the
B. phone (S4) or the
C. OS JELLY BEAN 4.3
For me.... (correct me if im wrong)
I think each of the three can cause the problem.
1. gameCIH:
I guess the app itself (gameCIH.apk) was not ready for S4 or JB 4.3 because after the v3.0 released, no other version of the app was available up to now.
2. My Smart Phone Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 (Not very smart):
My S4 can also be the reason. What ever it is, i don't know because i never try it before and its my first S4 and should be the last if ever! Hmp! (No FM Radio ....oops! Wrong topic! Lol.)
3. OS - Android 4.3 Jelly Bean:
The JB 4.3 which is the latest and available today OTA. This can also be the culprit that cause the error. The latest OS was armed with the latest security unfamiliar to many like the
KNOX (shield icon) when i open that app, there is something that asking to install... blah blah blah.. i did not install it, because a while ago...(when im searching for the cure to my problem) i,ve read some forum that telling to freeze every single app related to KNOX or an app name that have a KNOX in it. (I really dont remember the forum site.)
Now what? What else can be the cause? Or is there a fix?
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
GameCIH works for me on 4.3.1 Slimbean.
Try to clear any superuser entries for GameCIH on your superuser application, and try again.
But im using stock rooted. 4.3 JB. Im just a noob. How to clear entries sir? Btw, im using SuperSU. Is there an option?
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Open your SuperSU app, and clear the entries for GameCIH under the "Apps" tab.
Then go to the "settings" tab and set the "Default Access" to "prompt".
Just uninstall gamecih lol
Install others like Gamekiller SB Game Hacker GameGuardian, which is better than old GameCiH
Sent from my GT-P3110 using Tapatalk now Free
Gamekiller doesn't work too. Root check says my phone is rooted. I have JB 4.3 with stock rom.
I uninstalled KNOX and removed the root. I will try to root again but this time without KNOX.
game cih, game guardian and game killer didn't work but game hacker works perfectly!
Try either 4 and one might work if you have the same problem.
Same for me , I'm using existenz rom xperia sp, android 4.3 gamecih not working
gamecih/gamecih2
If you download gamecih and the système Deny to root. Just try to download gamecih 2 it worked for me
Nothing works!!!
I have the same error for GameCIH and GameKiller. Game Guardian and Game Hacker work but they are too complicated. I'm used to the old interface where you just put a number and when it goes up, you press +. When it goes down, you press -. Now you have to do way more work and it doesn't even register it. For example, my money in CoM was 869. I put that in Game Hacker. It told me to change the value like make it go up or down. I completed a mission and earned some money. I put the new amount in and then it told me "Invalid:number not found". Something a long the lines of that. Please help! Btw, I have an S5 on Android 4.4.2
I've done full logging with super su
It's says it's a executable file linkage problem. It's says could not load library '' libcutils.so '' from data /data/com.cih.game_cih/files...
Kindly help me how to fix this problem I also put a raw libcutils.so files but no sucess
Which one i can use?
Rooted my Asus Zenfone 2 ze551ml, but superSU needs to be "PRO" in order to use daxattack.. any alternatives?
Im running 5.0 btw..
Why every time I go in there a mistake?
Please like which way gamecih error did not let her , even though I already root handpone me with superuser / SuperSU

SecEmail.apk v4.0 on KK 4.4.2 on i9100

Sorry if this is the wrong Forum
I'm currently running SlimKat 4.4.2 ROM on my trusty old S2 19100, my issue is i hate the standard email client that came with it (Email 4.4.2) and therefore have tried to change it for one from an early ROM (SIV Series 2.05) which is a JB ROM and ran Email 4.0 and Exchange 4.1
I have deleted both Email and Exchange apks from system\apps
rebooted
replaced with SecEmail and SecExchange apks extracted from the older ROM
updated permissions
rebooted
cleared data on both
even wiped data with TBackup
rebooted
Every time i get force close error messages
I have tried 3 variants of the files i want, clean extract from the original ROM zip file, copied from a backup of the older working ROM and Tbackup copy.
I used a copy of the files from this post;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36567486&postcount=4007
and it all worked fine the only difference being it is Email 4.1.2 rather than Email 4.0 which i want.
What am i doing wrong, can i not have Email 4.0 which was running fine on JB 4.1.2 on KitKat 4.4.?
Any help would be gratefully received
Cheers

Perhaps 4.4 on your device. Are you using the ART runtime? This may cause issues with certain apps.
ART for ART's sake

To be honest i'm not sure, it wouldn't be me that would change the runtime it would be the developers of the ROM, for sure it's using Dalvik, but i don't profess to be anything other than an enthusiastic user, not a developer. :highfive:
To ART or to Dalvik

I have double checked my current ROM and noticed that under developer options it shows the runtime as Dalvik, with the option to choose ART, as i know nothing about ART i am not prepared to just click and play. Therefore i will go off and read what i can about ART, i'm not sure after a couple of hours of reading i will be much the wiser , but i'll give it a go.

Stock launcher apk?

Would someone be able to provide me with an apk of the launcher from the stock rom? I know it's old but its very well optimised for tablets and would be great on my Mi Pad 4.

Hi, ibooth2004...
I managed to cajole my Nexus 9 back into life long enough to extract the stock launcher from /system, without the tablet crashing spectacularly, usually with a horrendous ear piercing screeching sound! The battery is probably knackered. I've since moved onto a Samsung Tab A8 tablet.
Anyhow, I extracted what I believe to be the stock launcher APK, from /system/app/GoogleHome, using X-Plore Filemanager. See screenshot below. I can't see any other APKs which which would likely be the stock launcher, and with a name like GoogleHome, I'm guessing it must be the launcher. You should find the APK attached below.
It's from the Nexus 9 factory stock ROM, Nougat 7.1.1, Security Patch update 5 October 2017. Also see attached screenshot.
I have no idea how successful you'll be either installing it or running it on your Mi Pad 4. It's possible it may not install at all, if you install it the same way as any other APK, because it's originally a system app, and system apps (I think) have to be placed in the system partition/folder which requires a rooted device.
Anyway, good luck and I hope it works.
Rgrds,
Ged.
