Hello All,
Did ask this question in the main thread, however it might have been ignored, due to the heavy influx of posts. So I am using a custom ROM rootbox stable 4.0 on my SGS-II. Just wanted to ask that I maybe planning to buy the following type of bluetooth tags, once they become stable enough for main stream use.
1. http://www.sticknfind.com/
2. http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/button-trackr-find-lost-items/x/2060164?c=home
According to the information gathered these devices require "Bluetooth Low Energy" (BLE) enabled cellphones and the required software implementation profile to work on. Apparently in the Android domain only Samsung is providing it in S3, S4 and Note 2 only in stock ROM.
Just wanted to ask that does RootBox or any other leading custom ROMs supports this BLE profile, and if not at the moment, is there any plan to include it in the stable upcoming releases.
Thanks for the responses. Great work all the AOKP, Cyanogen, Paranoid, MIUI Developers.

I am in the same boat as you. Need it to see my Casio GB-6900 Smart Watch which runs on LE. I have tried all nighly builds from haashcode and the rest of the soup. Not one has support for BLE. I hope they think of supporting this in their future release.

Hello everybody!
I'm an android "expert noob" from long time and i currently own a i9300.
I always preferred AOSP or AOKP over the original stock Samsung Rom, even giving up some pretty useful functions implemented
such as swipe-to-call and moving the phone near to the ear to call.
Not big deal, I can live without these, but i really need the HDMI-out support for important reasons, which is not working beacuse of "proprietary drivers" (as i recall) never relased, and that's why i always stayed on Stock 4.1.2 roms or customized versions of these (i.e. the great Omega, UltimaRom, FoxHound etc.)
This until the last week, when I found out someone leaked the "official" 4.2.1 Samsung Rom with HDMI-out working (obviously!), so i expected major branches such as CM would implement the necessary files and adapt it to the rom, but this never happened.
Did I miss something, is this still impossible for unknown-to-me reasons or what?
tl;dr Now that "official" leaked 4.2.1 is among us, why AOSP/AOKP developers still haven't implemented HDMI-out in their ROMs?
Because Samsung haven't released the necessary sources I presume, much like camera sources etc
It will never be possible. The standard is owned by Microsoft and will never be open.
R: [Q] AOSP/AOKP 4.2.X + HDMI-out. Possible integration?
I thought it could be ported somehow considering that now CM and official are on same base (4.2)

Hello guys, I've recently upgraded from a Galaxy Nexus to a Galaxy S III, skipping the Nexus 4 for reasons I should explain only if asked.
I've been reading a lot of posts from AOSP advocates defending Samsung's TouchWiz, which makes for a rather worrying reading.
Now, I'm quite pleased with stock TW Jellybean, it's really smooth, fast, stable and not bloated at all. However, I wanted to try some AOSP roms since developers clearly had some time to work on them, and Samsung has certainly released JB source code to overcome some driver-related issues that there might have been. My question is: is TW still the best option or are there some AOSP roms that are stable, fast and working on every aspect? I'm talking about tethering, data connection, auto-brightness, battery life, bluetooth, camera... the stuff meant to work at its best on a stock TW rom.
Thanks for your help.
Well actually for me the AOSP ROMs are smoother and have all the features I could probably need....but
Samsung didn't released the sources as they told us and because of that (and a couple of proprietary reasons with Microsoft)
We can't make a fully functional camera(slight camcorder/flash stuff that have never affected me)
Can't have exfat sdcards
Can't have native FM radio
(Reason why we are not really officially supported by Cyanogenmod in their M builds)
But that's about it...I would really recommend you to try them...unless you need a Samsung specific feature like AllShare or AllShare control if you have a SmartTV...or want the extra features in the camera (BurstShot ShareShot) that I really never used..... and a lot of those features are now in CM10.1 like HDR and that stuff.
Those are my two 2 cents of the theme

Hey guys,
I've recently bought a Pioneer Appradio 2 and I am looking for the least bloated rom that still supports HDMI via MHL out.
I do like the KK roms, but unfortuanately, the phone.apk (Dialer) doens't like the landscape format and will not display properly on the head unit. So I guess I'm stuck with 4.3 or lower..
What the slimest, least bloated rom that will fulfill my requirements?
This is only an answer you can determine based on your own research and testing.
Head over to the development threads and give them all a run. :good:
As these type thread almost always become arguments over which rom is best, and as XDA is not a support site. Members are expected to read and do their own research into matters such as these.
Seems obsoletism is occurring faster & faster.
upon release Feb 14 I upgraded to the galaxy s 5, now regret that move, at&t won't allow custom Rom! It's been getting glitchy, no clean up?! That's why I bought the dam thing... So last week I said f it. I bought the flagship iPhone, 6s plus 64... And again I'm regretting it's typical non functionality . Dam! oh well at least I look cool, right?. I hate the bloat of the quickly outdated Androids, they need to be replaced sooner & sooner.
Anyone tell me if custom Rom Is the way to go, on which device? I'm thinking about ditching my new iPhone 6s plus, but just learned that the nexus 6p has a fuse denying custom Rom to be ran. ? boo!
Another quick question, is there a particular forum that I might be interested in reading?
What does this have to do with the custom ROM called Paranoid Android?

I've been reading up once again, so paranoid android is custom Rom? Is it meant for any particular device, or anything goes? (Ask except for the galaxy s5 on the at&t network I presume)
Who is using paranoid android on which device and which is it working the best?
Oh, to clarify, I'm looking for a new & best device so far that I can use I the at&t network. I'm now on this new iPhone and I'm having a hard time navigating to find some good reads on relevant information. Which is the best device? And what is paranoid droid, open source for a community of developers?

Paranoid Android officially only supports nexus devices.
A custom ROM has to be developed specifically for a device, there isn't a universal ROM that you can download to just any device. You need a build made specifically for your device.
If you want advice about a particular device, you need to go to that devices forum section.
If you want advice about general Android usage, visit the general Android forum section.
This forum section is dedicated to the Paranoid Android project.

XDA has how many users across how many forum sections?
I have no idea what's out there. Nonetheless, this discussion doesn't belong in this forum section.
Greetings,
I'm posting this on the General as the forum associated with this mobile device is pretty much dead ATM. It falls very much more in the category of "I need help figuring out how to do this Android Global thing" rather then a very specific issue with a device.
The long and the short of it is the Samsung Galaxy On5 SM-G550T/1 was a fairly short lived phone in the US. It's a barebones phone that has a lot of features of design choices of the Galaxy S5 and S6 while having very minimal accessory hardware (which as an altimeter and advanced GPS systems).
This phone, however, has seen *A LOT* of popularity in Easter EU, Middle Eastern or Indian markets and thus there is a TON of Rom development still active for this phone.
The SM-G550FY has significant differences with the Sound Drivers, Camera Drivers, Bluetooth Drivers and Modem Drivers that makes the ROMs, in general, compatible enough to be installed, but not compatible enough to have the Sound or Camera work and has varying levels of Modem and Bluetooth viability; more often then not, they work though.
Someone finally dropped a hint that most these drivers are in the /system/lib folder requiring CHMOD of 740 to work; but no one to the best of my knowledge has actually gotten this "workaround" to work. This was something that was completely foreign (no pun intended) to many of us who have posted in that forum. I've had zero success with this, but it seems to have gotten me looking in new directions for fixes.
So my questions are a few fold that I hope the XDA greater community can help with:
#1.) Is there a way to import the correct drivers that are verified working in the same version of Android from another rom?
#2.) Are drivers for different versions of Android the same (IE 6.0 and 7.0 since those are the ROMs being regularly released) or are we reliant on Samsung to release a properly working set of 7.0 drivers to get Android 7.0 working on the US/CA variants of the phone?
#3.) I'm looking for good resources to learn how to build an installer for a ROM to try to build and release a patcher to make SM-G550FY roms compatible with SM-G550T/1 Roms. What resources could you suggest to get myself better up to speed to doing this.
#4.) I'm also looking for good resources to learn how to build ROMs perhaps based on Lineage for my model of the phone. Where would I go to learn more about that?
Thanks for any help you guys can provide.
