well i just wanted to hear your opinions boys and girls
since im still lacking some funds for a new handset ,i just wanted to know how is it in those flashy looking 3d games with p500 when its with hw acceleration/ jit /oc /custom ROM - you name it.
tell the name of the game and what u experience please
***edit : what are the experiences in games that require multitouch ? less lag (i figure that it should be less since cpu gets kinda boosted, but thats only theory, what about in practice ? )
With one exception (Pocket Legends), the 3D experience is "meh" at best. The REALLY good ones need a larger screen to be usable.
With just JIT and HW accel enabled I can play NFS Shift just fine. Pretty fun for a cell racing game too.
It really all depends on how well the game is coded. Once we get gingerbread, it will be better as well. Touch slows down some 2D games, while other 3d games are fine. Don't try Q3android....
In the 3d realm I currently play Pocket Legends, NFS Shift, Lava Ball 3D, Ride Pinball, and Prism. Starting to toy with Psx4droid as well
This is with the beta kernel drellisdee installed, but not OCd, as well as the above mentioned JIT and HW accel, and 32MB heap.
ride pinball is a sweet game.. one of my top picks.
what about games like raging thunder 2 etc ? and do u guys use the virtual joystic in pocket legends ?
and na, the screen is fine lol im used to my mini w880 screen (lol u should see it )
NFS Shift
I used play NFS Shift. but not found it in market apps and it's better you will find to NFS.apk.
you can find almost anything in the internet just gotta look for it.
cmon guys, more feedback :X ?
assasins creed HD - screen is off
HAwkx -- playable but loads slow
NFS shift --smooth
Mini Gore -smooth
Legends - smooth
My paper Airplane 3D - smooth
all tested and played on stocked rom before i mod
sweet
hawx is a cool game btw
Hi guys, i am aware of how the 3d works on our phones. the screen`s refresh rate is 60hz and that equates to 30hz for each eye and half resolution etc. this means that our phone is capped to 30 fps in 3d mode. however i am getting probably around 20fps. all animation are either jerky or just unsmooth in general. i know that it is not just the 3d because the 3ds is smooth (you can tell that it has half fps in 3d however) and the lg optimus 3d is smooth. i have played on my friends lg and all the games run way better. i have overclocked to 1.51ghz, gpu at 320mhz, leedroid rom and kernel, samsung egl drivers and fps have increased to maybe 25fps. still far from the lg optimus. i am very disappointed, i have a gsm evo so dont give me the 2.17 ruu. is there a fix? is it possible that the lg optimus has a 120hz screen? thanks in advance
I dont know about GSM version evo3d but my CDMA version runs smooth as silk I have been playing the hell out of need for speed in 3d and not one issue.
Maybe you need to do a clean wipe and reinstall your rom.
My EVO 3D has smoothly played every single 3D and 2D game I've thrown at it, are you sure you're not running a lot in the background?
I`m talking about stereoscopic gaming and anyways your on mikrunny with sense 3.5 which is incompatible with 3d games. 3d as in polygon games run very well on my phone, modern combat 3 with 4xmsaa runs silky smooth and anything else i throw at it, but as soon as i start playing a game like asphalt 6 3d or shadow guardian 3d it becomes super choppy. anyway with ics around the corner i`m sure it`ll get fixed. i envy you cdma users thanks.

Yes but I used stock and leedroid for a very long time and always played stereoscopic games on them perfectly. It is irrelevant the rom I am currently running.

Some 3d games like asphalt 6, sometimes last in my cdma 3d........but that was on 2.08 roms, I haven't tried any 3d game since I updated to 2.17 ..........................
OP, there is a thread something like "gpu performance solved" for gsm gpu performance, that might help.

i made that post! but it only fixed the performance for some of the 3d games. i am happy with the framerate and some would perhaps consider my phone very smooth, maybe i am just fussy but i would like lg optimus 3d like performance. is it sense that is causing it? what i am trying to say is that my phone is very smooth for evo standards but not against other phones and i am satisfied but if there is anyway to improve it i will. thanks for helping but i think i might just wait until ics. And to those who claim smooth performance try playing shadow guardian 3d because it lags like crazy on any evo i`ve played on(about 4).p.s you can find the apk on mobilephonetalk.com but i am not allowed to post the actual game.

And you said you have tried on 4 evos. Have you tried it on CDMA 3d yet? Today, I will try the shadow guardian 3d game once again on 2.17 ROM and will post back..
Yes , I tried Shadow Guardian 3D on my 2.17 CDMA 3D and the framerate is almost half than 2D. Fast moving object seems to stutter a bit.
It is acceptable though.
Maybe try another kernel, lees kernel gave me stutters. Anryl 10.07 on gsm 3vo

Hello All,
I was wondering how to improve the performance on games such as mc3, horn, and other high graphic games? I heard from someone that ics roms run games faster than gb , and that you also should overclock your device using an app called tegrak overclock. So my question is this: how well does our player run games, and if so how to make the games run smoother or better. Thanks!

The Player 4 and 5 both use an SGX540 running at 200MHz. I have both NOVA 3 and MC3 on my Player, and it seems to me that Gameloft has definitely not optimized their Android games as well as they could (example: the 4th generation iPod Touch has a weaker SGX530 GPU and less RAM, yet MC3 runs better).
That said, I have seen people overclock the SGX540 in our Exynos 3110 to anywhere from 210-250MHz. If someone can implement this to a Player kernel, we should be able to do the same, and probably reduce some lag.
As far as Android version- from what I understand (and this may not be correct), 4.0 uses more RAM, so some games might work better on 2.3. I have also seen many reports that Gameloft's games do not work well on 4.0 (more lag and/or crashing), but they may have been updated to fix these issues.
I'm running Android 4.0. I've got an overclock to 1.2GHz. I have set the maximum number of background tasks to only allow 2. This has pretty much completely fixed any lag i've had whatsoever. Even on 2.3! I have MC3 and Nova 3 and they both run fine with the odd jitter every 10 mins but you can expect that with any device. I also bought Gangster Rio but I haven't tried that on Remics UX yet. It ran terrible last time Si used it on ICS Crumble but I didn't have the Background process limit set then so i'll get it and i'll see how it gose. But if you've got ICS Seriously, you will be amazed at what difference it makes. I just hope Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour will run as smoothly!

I highly doubt it will run at all, unless Gameloft has a version with highly toned-down graphics. NOVA 3 with all effects and graphic elements set to high is nearly unplayable (though it looks incredible), and we know MC4 is more graphically advanced than N3. Even if these Players had a better GPU, though, RAM would still be an issue, and Gameloft might even skip on a PowerVR-optimized MC4 anyways.
I am making custom kernel atm, show me an example of overclocked gpu that we have. Afaik the were tryind to do so with i9000 without success

If you look around, you'll see that just about anyone with a Tegra 3 device and a Gameloft game has the same problem. Either the Tegra 3 has a weak GPU, Gameloft fails at optimizing their games, or both.
If you set the graphics of NOVA 3 on the Player to the same level as on the N7, the game becomes unplayable, even though it has to push a much lower resolution. Tying that back in on-topic, as MC4 has more advanced graphics than NOVA 3, it is probably not going to work with the Players.

I can run Nova with no lag. The thing that was causing the problem I think was the RAM until o set it to 2 background tasks. And also SWAP file support could be another thing to work on to gives more than a 1GB or RAM.

Its not one day..its one HOUR job..the game has allready options because every game engine has video option..but with a gamelooft you have to extract option file from ogg file then change on off what you thing ..save and then recreate ogg file again..And only game that gice options is rock star ..they are only developers with brains in android world for now..and off course there is no need to recreate textures..its one command in opengl.

I can run it with no lag, too. NOVA 3 for our Players has all the graphical effects disabled, but when they are turned on, the lag is unbearable, which is what I was talking about (I'll make a video showing this). Tying that back in, since MC4 has these graphical effects by default plus a new graphics engine, either the game will not work at all (read: to laggy to play), or Gameloft will greatly downscale the graphics for us (unlikely).

Install Chainfire3d from the Market. Open it, install the driver, reboot, and it should be good to go.
However, a few warnings. Campaign will not work, at all. The only way for the game to load and be somewhat playable is to do a local WiFi multiplayer match with just yourself. I also recommend letting it sit for a minute or so after the map (pick a relatively small one) has loaded.
So no campaign? Oh well I'm completely stuck on a mission anyway ha ha.

Well, with the full graphics, the game lags too much when doing anything (except for walking around) for the campaign to be playable.
I was wondering which phone to buy and I am currently debating between this and the SGS3. I have AT&T, but I was wondering (I am leaning very heavily on the HOX+) do Gameloft Games work with this device and are they fluid (ie at least 30 FPS)? I will primarily game on this device and I spent many hours on NFL Pro 13 before my ipod got stolen, and I need to play that game.
Anyway, long-story short, I need to know how well GL games work with the HOX+, specifically NFL Pro 13, and other games such as Angry Birds, Modern Combat, etc.
Please and Thank you
P.S. I read the thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1969840 and I need to know if this issue got fixed.

I am a proud owner of the HTC One X+ but i must say that the galaxy siii is better for gaming in general especially gameloft games. The One X+ recquires gaming boost for gameloft games as the cpu is coupled to the gpu and gameloft games don`t utilize all four cores. With gaming boost most games will run very smoothly without full effects however if you wish to mod the games to gain gsiii grade graphical effects most of the games will run around 25-60fps with gaming boost of course. The One X+ is better than the siii for emulators, running fpse with opengl at full speed without frameskip. The unfortunate truth is that the One X+ needs alot of tweaking to gain the true potential of the hardware not to mention heat and battery problems. Overall i believe that the One X+ is a better device than the gsiii due to the great matte finish and screen also THD games are a pleasure to play.
Hi, I am a n00b, this will be my first android/smartphone and I need some clarification.
"The One X+ recquires gaming boost for gameloft games as the cpu is coupled to the gpu and gameloft games don`t utilize all four cores."
What is gaming boost? Is it an app that I can find on the Play Store?
" The unfortunate truth is that the One X+ needs alot of tweaking to gain the true potential of the hardware not to mention heat and battery problems."
Could you define 'tweaking', I jailbroke my iPod touch, so is it similair to jailbreaking an ios device?
" especially if you are going to Flash a custom rom."
What is a custom rom?
Also, if someone knows how to add actual quotes it would be much appreciated.

A custom ROM is a modification tha you can do to your phone's software. The HTC one x plus comes with jelly bean 4.1 and htc sense as its default software. You can change how your phone works when you install or flash a custom ROM. ROMs vary from device to device so you have to pick the right one for your phone. ROMs can change settings, user interface, remove bloat ware, and much more.

The gpu is linked to the cpu to save battery, for example if a thd game like shadowgun is played all four cpu cores will be used and the gpu will scale up to 512mhz, however if you run a gameloft game only one or two cores are used and the gpu throttles down to 50% making the game stutter. Gaming boost optimizes the cpu governor and unlinks the gpu from the cpu. By tweaks i mean scripts, roms and kernels, all that recquire rooting. Rooting is actually much simpler than jailbreaking an ios device, just download the noobproof tool box in the development section. As far a battery life and heat, better than the original One X but a tad worse than a gsiii. This is mainly due to the bright display and HTC`s poor software but is easily fixed with the insertcoin rom which has the option to reduce autobrightness and drastically increase batterylife.

So, which ROM do you recommend? Or, is it possible to root and still have sense 4+? I really like the interface. Is there also a "How to" root page somewhere? and like jailbreaking, does rooting void the warranty?
So only thd games run smooth and others wont? Im going to buy a new phone soon and i also wanna play some games on it.

So, what I am getting at is if I want to be able to play gameloft games (Really, only NFL Pro) and other games (ie Angry Birds, Solipskier, etc) I need to root my device. What about SGS3? Can I just "pick up and play", or do I have to root as well. I have heard that rooting voids the warranty, and I kinda need the warranty just in case something happens.
However, would it be possible to show a video on what gaming is like with and without the boost. I would really appreciate it.
Lastly, which phone, HTC One X+ or Samsung Galaxy SIII is more "future-proof"?
Again, sorry for my many questions, but I am a n00b, and I need to know if I am making the right decision.

No, only gameloft games and some ea games will lag and that is only on stock, if you use gaming boost they will run almost as well as on an siii or iphone, games from other devs should all run well and emulators run better than on any other phone except maybe the new s4 pro phones however they have reduced performance due to heat throttling.

Okay, so I should try out the gameloft games first, and if they are laggy then root or upgrade to SGS3. My follow up question is that I heard that some GL games do not support HOX/HOX+, and I was wondering which games are not compatible, or did they fix that issue?
So San Andreas is out in December and I was wondering if our beloved S2 can play it. It's kind of my all-time favourite game and i was hoping i could refresh some old memories. With 1 gb of RAM and a decent processor it should just about make the cut...Can anyone help me with any tricks, maybe some kernels to flash or overclocking which can cause a considerable boost in gaming performance or will siyah or dorimanx not have much of an effect...I know that benchmarks are not always conclusive but I can just about manage to get barely playable framerates on dead trigger 2 high graphics with stock cm 10.2 while i could play it only on low graphics on the stock ROM...This is the first game in which i have experienced any performance issues while modern combat 4, gta 3 and vice city, nfs most wanted, pvz 2, angry birds, fifa 14 etc run like a dream...Any tips for squeezing that last bit of performance and battery life would be greatly appreciated...

With 1 gb of RAM and a decent processor it should just about make the cut...Can anyone help me with any tricks, maybe some kernels to flash or overclocking which can cause a considerable boost in gaming performance or will siyah or dorimanx not have much of an effect...I know that benchmarks are not always conclusive but I can just about manage to get barely playable framerates on dead trigger 2 high graphics with stock cm 10.2 while i could play it only on low graphics on the stock ROM...This is the first game in which i have experienced any performance issues while modern combat 4, gta 3 and vice city, nfs most wanted, pvz 2, angry birds, fifa 14 etc run like a dream...Any tips for squeezing that last bit of performance and battery life would be greatly appreciated...

i think you should use PurePerformances X mod(see the thread there is some point says "- Allows you to play ported games without lags"its awesome.
here is the link to the mod:

P.S:i like GTA san andreas very much.
Well i flashed it and things are definitely faster. Dead trigger 2 is playable at high graphics now while battery life hasnt taken a hit. Thanks a lot

can you give me fps for dead trigger 2? and what rom plus kernel?
btw san andreas have • Enhanced for the iPhone 5 series and iPad 4th Gen and above with dynamic detailed shadows and real-time environmental reflections.
now we look to other game that do kind of this enhancement too, ravensword shadowland. on our device shadowland run on full effect like 4s/ipad 2 but without the enhancement for iphone 5/ipad 4.
if your curious what the enhancement look like just see ravensword shadowland on iphone 5/ipad 4 on youtube. On the first five minutes of game play, you will meet a big troll. Now on S2 the troll body texture is the same as ipad2/4s while on iphone 5 it have better texture.
It depend on the setting itself, maybe on android full effect setting only have same effect like 4s/ipad 2 or maybe can run on high setting but without shadow.
btw sky gambler air supremacy on our device does'nt have lens flare like ipad 2/4s :crying:

have you see the game on other device? especially on non mali gpu? the screenshot is same on google play and the game itself on galaxy note 3 with max setting (from some site) from my perspective the graphic have ugly and flat texture. I see some people share ss on adreno devices and the texture is better compared on note 3/google play. I believe the mali version have toned down texture and polygon. the character itself look ugly compared to ps2 version.

ps2 is vga, on pc you can get to hdmi (much better quality)
But my question is,
Is the whole story ported? All the missions and side missions?

run fine on neatrom lite debloated 5.4.2 + pure perfomance mod
the game seems lock on 24 - 28 fps no matter setting used ,even when frame limiter off hover around 28-31 fps, remind's me of ps2 version
run fine on max setting except shadow and car reflection on low,
little slow down with crowded traffic if use detailed car reflection and med shadow
stutter when shadow and car reflection on max

i dont know , i dont have mhl/hdmi adapter maybe you can buy me one? i will test it
btw i notice no matter low res, graphics or draw distance , the game will stutter if use car detail more than low and shadow more than classic. If seems the mali doesn't have enough power to run those two(vertex bound). If you want to play this game smoothly on all max, you need min a device with adreno 305 gpu with max res at 720p. so just turn off shadow and car detail if you want to play this game smoothly. I use classic shadow and low car detail and the effect look like PS2 version , it's okay btw for me
