Stock 4.1 launcher? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anybody have an apk file of the stock 4.1 launcher? I have searched all over but can only seem to find the 4.2 launcher. I prefer the look of 4.1 better because I don't like the smaller dock icons on 4.2 but I can't seem to find the official stock 4.1 launcher.

When I try to install it says that there is a problem parsing the package also that is the trebuchet launcher from cm, I know that is a vanilla jelly bean launcher but I am looking for the official stock one that would have been on say a nexus 7 before the 4.2 update.

The stock launcher is just called launcher2.apk or launcher.apk

yes then thats trebuchet for sure..

Oh. I thought trebuchet was just the cm10 launcher. I was able to get a version of trebuchet to install but every time I try and put a widget on my screen it crashes......why is this happening?

[Q] Stock ICS Launcher on ICS LEAK?

Hey guys,
I saw a video on youtube by qbking77(?something like that) of him reviewing the official leak ICS build for SPRINT's SGS2.
He found that by clearing the defaults for Twlauncher apk, pressing home button will give you two options for the launcher, Touchwiz 4.0 and STOCK ICS. I thought this was pretty neat.
Can anyone confirm that AT&T's OFFICIAL LEAK stores inside it the STOCK ICS LAUNCHER too?
I myself have a GT-i9100, btw. was just wondering if that is possible. Thanks guys!
Removing the launcher and not having a fallback will get you nowhere.
He probably hand Trebuchet or similar installed, unless carriers are including Market apps. (Doubtful)

Nono not removing it, just clearing defaults from the app options.
And no, it was called "launcher"
And he went from stock tw launcher to stock ics google launcher
And he said sprint/samsung have included this.

Oh okay, so this must be something that Sprint and Samsung are pushing! Which means they're giving consumers choice?
I want to link the video that is proof of this but I'm on my phone..will link the video later!

I was the same way. I found this place cause I was googling for answers as to why my battery life sucked so much. Now my phone is rooted and so far i've flashed 2 different kernels and 3 different ROMS. It's like an addiction now. LOL
Stick around. Trust me, after some reading you'll see the light.
Official updates can suck it. Why wait? Have you even tried using aokp or something similar? Never thought my phone could be this smooth and enjoyable to use. Try it out

Agreed! Came here to just root my phone to shut off some system apps and free up some ram.
I thought official gb 2.3.6 was good enough for me. Then after reading countless tutorials I decided i'd try a few custom ROMS. I'm running SHOstock2 V3 and it's just pure sex!
Try ADW Launcher. Kinda similar in style to APEX
Yea, apex is pretty nice. Seems very customizable but most importantly, i can back up all my setting, but im sure other launchers can do that too.

Amen to that! Cept im on phonebricker 2.7, ran shostock 2 for awhile and it was amazing. Bit buggy for me though and the kitchen app in phonwbricker is what sold me
And ditto, ADW is the way to go on GB...but hopefully you'll be joining us on happily rooted ics soon

I'm currently hooked on TSF Shell. A little pricey for an app, but uniquely cool. I like Apex, Nova, Zeam, MIUI launcher & SPB Shell as well.

Took me a while to set up apex to my liking but I haven't looked back since. Does all I need and is simple and clean.
Try your luck with sslauncher...or lightning launcher. A LOT more customizable than others...tell me what you think.

Apex for me.
Originally tried to go with Nova when I flashed AOKP, but you had to pay for gestures at the time...

Rom Challenge

Does anyone know of an rooted S2 ROM that is pretty much stock Samsung ICS 4.03 that gives me 5 horizontal icons on home screen and 5 x 5 in the apps drawer.
Alternatively any way to achieve this this with an existing rooted ROM?
Don't want to do it through an alternative launcher as I am happy with TW.
Thanks in advance.

This is probably the best for you
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmvCpR45LKA
TW wont do that out of the box.
Look into TW 4.5 - not sure if it'll work on ICS, but I used it on GB and it allowed you to change the grid size IIRC.
Oh and it's a launcher thing, not a ROM thing.
Otherwise, find other launcher i guess...
Use apex launcher
On home screen touch the menu key
Go apex settings > home screen settings > portrait grid
Change to 5x5 or whatever u want

Thanks for that I have TW4.5 on my current ROM which is running 4.0.3 and have had on previous ROM's but this is the first time I have seen 5 horizontal icons on the home page, had never seen it as an option either.
I will investigate some more as I don't really want to use another launcher.
It's not even funny to post "Rom Challenge " in android development section.
That's my mistake I will withdraw the post. Thanks.

Stock Jelly Bean without Touchwiz

I know that there are new leaks coming out every day (some real, some not).
But I need a ROM that is Jelly Bean but without the Touchwiz.
I know there is SuperNexus but that has Memory Leaks.
Anyone know of one? Please no time wasters..
I'm gonna be honest with you.
Jelly Bean without touchwiz sounds like you wanna look in the AOSP direction. However, there's no AOSP Jellybean ROM today that hasn't got memory leaks.
I'm not sure, though, if someone has taken a samsung base ROM and taken out all touxhwiz related to replace with AOSP counterparts.
Use a JB leak and holo launcher HD, looses touchwiz and you get stock JB

Can you elaborate a little further? Would this be the closest to a pure Nexus Jellybean as we can get? Very interesting...

He isn't wrong for wanting a non TW rom. Some people dislike TW. I bought the GS3 but hate TW am I wrong for that? But I am surprised I actually like some of the TW features on the GS3 so lately I have been running TW but themed out as much as possibly as AOSP.
But OP as of right now there are no AOSP roms (JB without TW) that do not have a memory leak. Chances are the memory leak will be there until JB kernel sources are released.
If you want jelly bean without whole touchwiz framework, flash some rom based on aosp or cm19, but if you want stock samsung jb rom without touchwiz launcher, just download some 3rd party launcher via play store, i recommend nova or apex. You can't delete whole touchwiz framework but launcher is replaceable.

Holo launcher hd is a third-party launcher based on AOSP JB it looks exactly the same as it, third-party launchers are the only way if you want stock, the other alternate is to flash an AOSP or CM10 Rom.

Yup.
Use a third party launcher like Holo Launcher.
For locker use Holo Locker.
Optionally Root your SIII. And Delete some .apk in system \app.
Lots of replacements there.
Lemme save you the trouble. And get you some suggestions:
AllShare Play - Who wants it? B|
Calculator - Get one like Easy Calculator. Though the stock calculator is pretty nice.
Camera - I'd recommend Camera Zoom FX. but it's paid. stock camera aint bad either.
Clock - A simple deskclock could do. Try "Desk Clock". Or else Stock Clock. " " ".
Contacts, Phone - Can't do anything bout these. except mod on own.
Gallery - Well. It's fine but you can use ICS Gallery by Mobylynx. Pretty fast and elegant
Internet - I hate the stock browser. Get Chrome or ICS Browser +
Messaging - Get ICS Messaging, though i'm not sure if it supports Direct Call.
My Files - Get ES File Explorer. It's the best file manager to drag and drop files.
S Memo, S Planner - Well, they aren't bad. But you can even try out Color Note for S Memo. And for S Planner try Taskos To do list.
S Voice - I don't like S voice at all. Get Speaktoit Assistant. Best voice assistant ever.
Samsung Apps. - Keep this app. Gives free games sometimes.
Video Player - Well. Just keep it. It isn't that bad. Or else try mx video player. It's even good.
Voice Recorder - Stock one is nice. You can try 3rd party Easy Voice Recorder.
Well. That's it.
Can't do anything about the other stuff. Because that's the framework.
I'd recommend trying out a theme, if you want to get rid of that too.
I spent quite some time trying to find the best app in all those areas. So kindly just press the thanks button if i helped you.

Why have you flashed a custom rom, when all you needed was another launcher?
Wait for vertumus to add support for JB in his jelly bean domination theme
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1730397
Use apex/nova launcher with it and this is the closest you can get to stock jelly bean with a samsung ROM.

can someone help me find the touchwiz of sgs 4?

I'm looking for the sgs 4 launcher because till now I did't found a launcher that I like.
(in go launcher it is little hard to move through pages, holo launcher is a boring launcher).
anyway I looked over XDA and all I have found is a zip file that I installed through recovery but somehow even that it told me that the launcher was installed I couldn't find it on my player.
So I will be glad if someone of you guys will help me to find that launcher.
Thanks ahead!
