My transformer prime is unrooted. It just started haveing a black screen with the LCD not working all of a sudden. I charges and vibrates when you try to power on. The hdmi still displays the screen on tv. I sent it off to asus to get fixed and the wanted $250 for a new lcd. So i decided to replace the lcd my self. it was pretty easy to do, however there still is a black screen after replacing the lcd. Does anyone have any other suggestions to get this fixed?

2.5 yrs later....
My toddler uses my Prime now and the exact same thing just happened.
I cracked it open and there's one cable which attaches from the lcd to the motherboard was loose on the motherboard cause I noticed, even though have some "tape" there, the cable doesn't actually snap into anything. I loosened their tape, and gave the cable a good shove in and voila everything worked again. I put some new electrical tape to hold it in place.

I put a skinomi skin protector on and after that touch screen stopped working. I took it off and screen is still not working.

Well, hard reset may help you fix this ASUS Transformer Prime touchscreen not responding issue: 1. Unplug the power cord and shut the unit off and Press and Hold the power button and the "Down" volume button together for 6-10 seconds and let them both go. 2. Wait a few more seconds until the term "Cold Boot" appears in the list near the top of the screens and just press and release the "Down" volume button again and let it reboot. If you own the dock be sure and do this with the dock connected.
Nevermind its not working again

That's a wet screen protector, right? Definitely sounds like water damage. Same thing happened to me with the original Droid phone. Power it off, put it in a bowl of rice over night, and cross your fingers.

wasn't the Prime's gorilla glass enough protection eliminating the need for a screen protector in the first place?
it doesnt look like there is any holes on it to get into

Edges around the screen?
I had a problem with my screen that was bad enough to cause me to return it. It was amazing in every other way, but the screen problem was a deal breaker. I'm gonna give it some time before I try again.

now I noticed you were using a stylus pen in that video. Did this problem also occur when you used your finger?

please help me with this problem.
my tablet's 40 pin connector is damaged, because my brother just messed with it during charging and he just broke it, so the prime is not charging anymore. However, and to make things worse, the screen of the tablet just went black. You can hear and sense it is working but the screen is just black.
During my attempts to fix the connector, several times I was lucky to get it working and when i connect the tablet to the electricity, the screen turns ON normally. But when working on Battery, the screen is BLACK (DEAD!!!).
However, NOW I cannot charge the tablet (I think the connector is totally damaged), the screen is dead and the tablet is just lying there on my table and waiting for its burial.
can you give advice on the reason of all my problems and the possibility that I can fix them by myself, since I live in a country where we don't have ASUS support service.
Thanks

I would search the forum, there have been a few people that had this issue. I am not sure how they fixed it or if they did but others have had the same problem....
So dropped phone and screen went out. Replaced amoled and digitizer, device powered on and lit up home keys, but no display still. Replaced main board, in case video was out on board, but no joy. Any thoughts? No custom software or anything....
Maybe you didn't clip on the ribbon cables all the way. Or, just try pulling the battery and booting it again.
When I replace my screen, screen didn't work for first few boots.

I checked and checked, digitizer works, I can reboot and swipe unlock, adjust volume, but no screen. At this point I'm thinking bad LCD. Thoughts?
Thx for response and ideas though....
I bought a replacement but ut was a cheap fake, not an OEM screen. It went purple then black within 10 minutes. I got my money back (thank you PayPal) and made sure the next one was an OEM screen.
I hope you didn't spend too much on the repair parts. You can pick up a new Note for about $290 now.
Hello. Today I get SGS3 from my aunt. SGS3 fell on floor. At first there was some white lines, then half of screen became blue, then the LCD shut down. It isn't working now.
I have a question. Could anything else be broken? I opened phone and i see, that there isn't nothing that could "destroy" LCD.
P.S. Phone boot up, I hear the sound, no view on screen.
You won't know until you replace the screen assembly, probably easier to buy a new phone.

Still, phone would boot if there is broken GPU?
Hey guys, recently I had my Z2 sent to a service shop because it wasn't turning on or charging. The guy at the shop said that it was the battery fault and he changed it, but he also told me that the screen was not working( flickering, ghost touches, unable to work on it). So he put my old battery on and when I went home the phone actually turned on and booted up, but still I had the screen problem. So whenever I touch the screen it doesn't respond and it touches by itself. Tried putting it on rice for 20 hours, dried with a hairdryer and assembled dissamssebled the screen jacks, still the problems wasn't fix. Do I really need to change the whole LCD or is this a problem that can be fixed?

Yes, you have to change the screen, or more precisely, the digitializer.
But since the LCD and the digitialier come in one-piece, you have to change it as a whole, but at a much lower price, as your screen can be sold again and recycle the good LCD panel.

So replacing the LCD would fix the problem right? That's great then because I found an LCD with a very low price (20$), completely new on ebay and I sucessfuly dissassembled the old LCD out of the phone. I'm gonna buy it as soon as possible. Thanks man.
