Seems lately between the 3 forums i frequently visit (all the time) that not much is going on for our devices anymore... Getting very bored with this device.... Scroll thru XDA and every other thread is Samsung!!! ^_drooling_^ Put the RAZR to bed? **Probably time yes** Any unique suggestions, ideas would be an inspiration for XT912 CDMA. Bout the most entertaining app i have found would be "Hangouts" for the Video Calls of course... Rooted, Safestrapped, played with nearly every ROM i can boot.. Scripts are not doing it either.. One custom KERNEL to play with.. BIG THANKS TO MY BRO @dtrail1 for his endless commitment JBX-KERNEL.. (and everyone involved) "running 6-24-13 Hybrid nightly... Smooth yes" Gotta Say PAC-man is by far my favorite along with the crimson cobalt themes.... ANYONE ELSE DOING ANYTHING AMAZING WITH XT912 CDMA???

I feel ya... my droid 4 got that way and then my ole lady broke my USB port off trying to plug it in.... I loved that phone but inside I smiled and grabbed a RAZR ... then grew bored of it and around that time it slipped out of my pocket and my daughter found it dropped it and broke the screen... now I'm sitting on the RAZR M scared to grow bored of it i havent unlocked the boot loader and flashed anything yet (as it seems my growing board of it is latterly the death of it) but this thing seems to be pretty quick... a bit smaller then the other two but I'm in love... I know benchmarks don't really mean anything but its pushing 5500 stock nothing froze or disabled... there there bro there there... I really feel ya

I have an HD MAXX and I've become bored with it. Like you said all kinds of development for Galaxy. When I get on here all of the front page threads are about the old S III & the new S IV or the many variants of the HTC ONE but no front page love for the RAZR HD. I thought it would've been a lot better after the boot loader got unlocked. Don't get me wrong there's been a lot of development for it but it seems the 4.2.2 stuff is still buggy and it may get dropped if the newest version gets released and none of them are official builds and just ports so it isn't even supported by the various groups that the ports come from. I've been running Eclipses Blur from nitro but it seems to lag the longer I have it running. But I still love the phone, the battery in it can't be beat.

Lol, forgot all about this topic. Why? Cause development is crazy busy. Thanks @dtrail1 @dhacker29 and endless thanks to everyone involved. 1 thing I have noticed with newer phones today they do not include an HDMI jack as I was told by a Verizon rep this cost $40 to have in the phone so of course they will not do it anymore. I am also frustrated that many new phones do not have external memory card option. But I really could care less because my phone is pimp and is better than most new for these reasons and many others. (Devs of course)
EDIT- Might be wrong forum for this topic? Maybe General? IDK

Ok I've reviewed a lot of threads and some say the Maxx can't be rooted. If there is a link to instruction of how to root this.... Please post here
I'm running JellyBean on a XT912 ... A veriZon phone but want to ditch the software as there are no VeriZon towers here...
Here is a vision... I'd like to run an AT&T sim but want to use the Tracfone bring your own phone which now works only with veriZon smartphones ... but I have an AT&T Tracfone with it's sim that works in this area ... I'd like to place that sim in my Razr Maxx and call and set up the phones ESN to be a Tracfone ... Not a smartphone or for data but just as my phone.
Question... How might this be done ? Can a phones ESN be changed so I would place a working Tracphone's ESN for the towers to see ? Or if I got the right Tracphone agent on and (s)he entered my phones ESN could it be configured to work ? Thanks for all you have done and your responses .

You can use Matt's utility to root the droid RAZR xt912. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192467
If you plan to install custom roms you will probably also want to install safestrap recovery software. Don't use Matt's utility for that, instead download the safestrap 3.65 apk (the latest version) and install that instead. See http://rootzwiki.com/topic/104161-recovery-locked-safestrap-recovery-v365-2013-11-13/
I have read that the droid RAZR xt912 will not work on the at&t network, but I have no experience with this. It's true that it is a global ready phone and will work on gsm overseas, but apparently it won't work on gsm in the states (not sure if the radio is incompatible with at&t or if Verizon did something to make sure it wouldn't work on their biggest competitors system). Please post your experience if you learn more.

Rooted with Matt's Razr Blade .... I put safestrap and BMM onto SD card but made mistake of not installing them before trying to install ARTMOD ... now I can't get past a screen that says waiting to activate phone service with only a power off choice.
I uninstalled the verizon VZW files after rooting but left the android phone apks there.

I am now bootloader unlocked/s-off amazing difference as well as a lot more to choose from as far as active development seeing how this is a newer device. I had been a loyal T-Mobile customer for over 4 years. Started with a G1 as my first android then moved onto a myTouch3G, then an N1, and finally a myTouch4G. I really liked the mytouch4g it was a good phone, the screen was small at 4inches compared to 4.3 that the phones are coming out of. However the worst deal was the reception. I have 4G in my city however where I lived I was getting barely Edge. If I wanted to download an app I had to get on wifi, it was horrible. Dropped calls all the time, people not able to hear me.
Then my dad convinced me to join his family plan and get a phone. For under $200, I was able to get a Droid X2 with a case, hdmi cable.
The phone is amazing! There isn't 4G LTE in my city yet so thats why I didn't get the bionic. I am glad I didn't. I get almost full bars of 3G everywhere I go. I can download apps in a few seconds. I can get on the internet wherever I am in my city and not just certain spots like T-Mobile.
This will be my phone for at least a year till there is 4G LTE and a new device comes out. I will just say one thing. I was an HTC fan but I am loving this Motorola Droid X2!
If you love it stock, wait til you try Eclipse.

Uhh.. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt since you were a former HTC user, so I won't rank on ya but unfortunately, our Motorola devices are still currently locked in terms of their boot-loaders. You'll notice threads in this forum such as Operation MOSH (Make OurSelves Heard) and other various complaints and such about the boot-loader being locked down.
Now with that said, a locked boot-loader isn't necessary a bad thing, especially on the RAZR MAXX. It all depends upon what type of user you are. If you are a deep enthusiast or developer who likes the freedom to flash fully-customizable ROMs, then if you choose a Motorola product, you'll have to wait until Motorola finally gives in. We're hoping to eventually get Motorola to unlock their bootloaders as they promised that they would try to by the end of 2011.
However, just recently a "Developer Edition" of the Motorola RAZR has been released in the EU. This device has an unlockable bootloader, but at the expense of no warranty and full-price cost.
Aside from the locked bootloader, I love my RAZR MAXX. It's the best phone out there amongst the other RAZRs with its extended battery life, solid build, and fluid UI.
Despite the locked bootloader, there are a few ROMs in development for the RAZR, including Hashcode's ICS port that he is working on (Soon to come). The downside is we're stuck with the kernel we have locked down until a solution can be found.
Nevertheless, its all based on personal preference really. I touted between the HTC Rezound and MAXX for a while, until I decided that the MAXX was a better fit for me.
thanks for the info. I am no too worried about roms so much as free wifi and bluetooth tethering to my xoom. might just check it out in the store to see if it is possible. This helps alot though! Hopefully they are releasing the dev version to test a free patch to the devices.
EDIT:: seems there is bluetooth tether, and root access.
I also wonder if the Razr is worth picking up. I am currently an owner of an Motorola Xoom and I love that device its pure awesomness. But I heard many people had issue's with the screen, the sim-card is disconnecting with the device, faulty headphone jack etc. Is that something common`? I have previously owned: SGS, ZTE Blade and HTC Desire Z. All 3 had terrible built quality.
I currently own the razr and I got to say this is the first moto phone that I actually love. Besides the obvious downsides like the locked boot loader and battery its a great device. It is extremely thin, light, fast, and durable you wouldn't think that moto made it. I previuosly owned the moto bionic which was the worst phone I ever owned and I also owned an HTC Dinc, best phone I ever owned, to bad the usb port gave way. I would say the the razr is almost a cross between the two... sorta.

I can report no problems with my MAXX that others have reported with their RAZR. Build quality is on the Motorola is superb. I have owned several DROID devices by Motorola, and that is certainly something they did right to say the least.
The Razr is definitely worth buying. I've had mine for about a month and it's been flawless. I've got it rooted, installed a cwm recovery and Shady's Arctic themed rom. Runs great.
And you don't have to be rooted to enjoy tethering with PDAnet.

Meh. Spec wise it's nice, but it's really just a RAZR with a keyboard. Battery isn't that impressive, around 1800 mAh IIRC (Dx2 stock is 1500), and with 4G LTE this'll be another charge in the morning, charge in the evening type phone (if you last till the evening) AND the battery isn't even removable!
Plus there's always that bootloader issue and the fact it isn't running ICS, which means it'll be getting that after the razr, xoom and bionic.
No thanks. I'm good on Moto devices for a while anyway.

There's not a lack of ROMs. In fact, we have a lot of ROMs:
Liberty - although it appears development has stopped
Molten - Magma is supposedly on the horizon
CM7 - another release is forthcoming in a few days per DZK
MIUI - still a work in progress
CM9 - not released yet, but DZK is working on it
Eclipse - Nitro is constantly working on this. 2.0.4 was just released.
So, lack of ROMs isn't an issue with this phone. I'd say we have quite a lot to choose from.
What has us upset is apparently, no ICS and no unlocked bootloader. The latter is a big issue because they promised they would start unlocking bootloaders. To this date, there is just ONE phone that has a bootloader unlocked and it hasn't been released yet - the Droid RAZR Developer Edition and who's to say whether or not Verizon will release this phone onto their network. My feeling is no AND I don't want to purchase ANOTHER Motorola phone just to get my bootloader unlocked.
That is really the ONLY reason I'm not going with Moto anymore. I'm also looking into getting off of Verizon. Problem is, I really need the coverage and no other carrier has the coverage I need in the areas I go to and I must have my coverage, period. So, I'm probably stuck with Verizon, so I just need to see if I can find a phone on Verizon that has the bootloader unlocked. Supposedly, HTC has been allowed to unlock some of their bootloaders on Verizon, so I'll probably go that route.

When I first got my phone I had a choice between the Droid X2 or the Droid 3. I've never had an android phone before so I didnt know what the differences were as far as ROMs and such. So the only reason I didnt get the Droid 3 is because of the slide out keyboard. Not that I had a problem with a slide out physical keyboard (I DID have a Pre Plus before this), I would just never use it. I dont like using my phone in portrait mode. I dont know why. It just doesnt seem comfortable to me. So I wouldnt get a phone with a portrait slide out keyboard, which means I will probably never get a phone from the Droid series. Im fairly happy with my DX2. But then again, with this being my first android phone, I dont know what its like to have an unlocked bootloader. My next phone will probably not be Motorola just to see what other phones can do.

Ummm hell yes, it does! WasabiWa83 has a Rezound (previous Droid X2 owner) and raves about it. It is quite possibly one of the most amazing phones I have ever seen. Unless something better comes out in the next few months, my next phone will be a Rezound.
P.S. - WasabiWa83 also does custom signatures, wallpapers, posters, etc for phones/computers if anyone is interested! I've had him do some for me (he actually created my sig, my phone's homescreen wallpaper, and my computer's desktop wallpaper), and his work is amazing, whether you want something big or small.
I use to root and flash roms, modems, ect the crap out of my last phone which was a Samsung. It was pretty easy.
I'm all new to Motorola and it looks a bit complex as far as that whole realm of rooting, roms, ect. I really wanna try out some roms. I hate the bloatware. What is the best/most stable rom out for the Droid Razr Maxx? I need everything working. That's probably the only thing I really like about being stock, everything works.
I have been using AOKP M4 | AXI0M | KANG | RAZR

All of the Gingerbread ROMS are very stable and everything works. Abysm is a great choice but in order for the Bluetooth to work you need to downgrade to the .748. If you install it over .173 it will run perfectly fine minus the Bluetooth. There is a standard and extreme version, each removing a larger amount of bloat.
Eclipse is also a great choice that has a bit of a Froyo look to it and runs very nice and smooth.
If you're into the stock look I'd recommend Clutch ROM conversion which is not a ROM but a script that will simply remove bloat (there is a standard and extreme version of this as well). It also comes with all the same extra goodies that Abysm comes with that will make your phone run much better.
If you go with any of the ICS ROMS you will run into a few bugs due to the fact they are not based on a Motorola leak of ICS but rather ported from the Nexus. However, that's not to say that they aren't great. If you don't mind dealing with a few data drops and lack of hardware acceleration (which prevents you from using apps such as Netflix), then you might be happy with an ICS ROM. Gummy and Axiom are both awesome looking with lots of fun tweaks to play with and in my opinion the most stable of the ICS ROMS.
Below is a link to a list of available ROMS. Have fun!!!
http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/1171-look-here-for-all-available-roms/
Thank you for the replies! I appreciate it alot. I can wait on ICS Rooms if they're still buggy. I need stability!!
So the wireless radio performance stays pretty much the same? That's the reason I choose Motorola over any other Verizon phone. Motorola is known for good wireless radio. I'm a person that relies on getting all my calls, text, and voicemails on time.
And I assume any rom for the Razr CDMA (Verizon) will work on the Razr Maxx as well?

So the wireless radio performance stays pretty much the same? That's the reason I choose Motorola over any other Verizon phone. Motorola is known for good wireless radio. I'm a person that relies on getting all my calls, text, and voicemails on time.
And I assume any rom for the Razr CDMA (Verizon) will work on the Razr Maxx as well?

Yes, radio performance will stay the same.
Yes, any Razr CDMA ROM will work on the Maxx.
Thanks man!! I'll look at some roms soon.
Can you link me to the easiest way to root and unroot?

They are all easy in my opinion, I'd say it's more of a preference.
mattlgroff's utility is awesome and you can do many things with it such as root, unroot, fastboot back to stock and more.

Dan Rosenberg's root exploit is a one click root method that works for 2.3.6

Doomlord's Zerg method is also a one click, but will only work for 2.3.5 and below. I'm adding this version because Doomlord also has a one click unroot that will also work with Dan Rosenberg's root.

Always remember to backup your stock rooted system and keep it stored somewhere safe before you start to try out different ROMS. OTA Rootkeeper by Supercurio (mattlgroff's utility has an option to install this) is an awesome app that protects root and allows you to temporally unroot before installing an OTA. This is necessary so you can retain root when accepting future OTA updates that have not been rooted.

Will the ROMs that you listed also work for the CDMA version of the Motorola DROID ULTRA MAXX XT1080M, or just for the Razr and Razr Maxx models?
Also, if these ROMs won't work for the ULTRA MAXX, do you know of any stable ROMs that do work on it? I really need the phone (has to be able to read and recognize the SIM card/port) and wi-fi tethering to be functional with whatever ROMs are available.
Maybe this is a stupid idea but I am stuck with this XT912 Verizon Droid Razr because I did not do my homework on it before I traded for it. And, yes, I have attempted to search out my answers with little luck thus far.
Anyway, the XT912 is currently on 4.1.2 stock, non-rooted. I have read that it was possible (via RadioComm) to get ICS to use GSM on this thing but I have not had any success with it on JB (which was already on it when I got it). What I want to do, and am here asking, is to root it and flash it to either stock ICS or an ICS ROM and then use RadioComm to make it use GSM.
Is the above possible or am I stuck with this thing? And, if it is not possible, does anyone know a way to get it to work with Straight Talk via CDMA? I am picking up that they won't switch/activate 4G Verizon phones...
Thanks, all. Oh, and I am not an idiot or a teeny-bopper wanting to hack my mommy's phone so please don't toss out comments aimed at such. I am a bonehead for not delving deeper before I got the phone but we've all been there.
I'm pretty sure that you're stuck on JB.. Verizon locked the boot loader on these and many other phones so you can't go back to ICS.
You may be able to flash an ICS ROM but I'm not sure.
It's been a long time since I've read up on any of this and I've never flashed ROMs on my maxx. I used to on my droid x a lot but never found one that I liked.
