wifi data limit app? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to limit children phone usage. Now I use combination: Avast, Norton Family, Datalock and Applock. This works fine when using only mobile network. Other child doesn't have mobile data, only wifi. I couldn't find app to limit data in wifi, anybody know any?
If someone would make app that combines most of this, parents would be potential byers.

There are some apps to watch data usage:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobidia.android.mdm&hl=en

But there is a way to set data usage:

[Q] Monitor Internet Usage

Is there some application that can monitor internet usage by application? I know 3G Watchdog does the job, but it only shows the global consumption and I want to see which apps are using my internet because sometimes I can see my internet being used but I don't know which app is using it.
Also can someone tell me how I can deactivate it and turn it on until I need it.
Thanks!!
Have a look at Call meter NG...

Call Meter NG doesn't do the trick either
@OP If you find software that does that please let me know, coz that would be pretty awesome, using watchdog at the moment but dunno where the data is going.

This is the same as 3G Wathdog, just shows the total usage. I want one where you can see Internet usage by application.

Count what about GPS exactly?
Sent from my X10a using Tapatalk
GPS is never counted as data usage, it uses signal from GPS satellites, not the internet connection. However, if you are using Google Maps, the internet connection is used to download the maps.
3GW has not yet the capability of counting usage per application, but a "pro" version will in the near future, only for phones under Android 2.2+ because it's not technically feasible AFAIK with older versions of the OS.
Hey guys,
I really need per app counter especially now for my X10.
I have only a 200mb plan, but I don't ever do anything else on the internet except use Google Voice app to text(since I tend to text a bunch).
Anyways, first month that I had the phone my traffic got up to about 120mb, but that was because I browsed web etc (you know.. got a new toy and started to play with it type of thing), but after this month I installed counter and monitor it from AT&T's website too, and half-way through the month traffic got up to 140mb!
Now I have disabled background data once I noticed that, now I have enabled it but uninstalled Google Voice app, and gonna have to go without it for few days (which isn't that great) and see if it's it that's causing the problem.
The thing is that I need the app one way or the other, and second is that I want to know for sure what EXACTLY is using my traffic.
Any advice is welcome.

LAN Spy Monitor is excellent all-in-one Internet usage monitoring software, it works very well.

[Q] Data switch per app

Hi,
In my data plan I have only little roaming data included. (10mb per month or so)
Anything over that is WAAAY to expensive.
Now, when going abroad I'd like to be able to use my data connection just for selected applications. Now, when I turn on my data, practically every running app is going to try to connect, check for updates, syncronize,...
Is there any way to just switch on data for, say, the email app?
Thanks!
You'll need to be rooted but there are a firewall app like DroidWall should work. It has separate toggles for wifi vs 3G so you can let everything access data when on wifi and block most apps from 3G:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.googlecode.droidwall.free
Droidwall is a good choice. Another alternative is Avast Mobile Security which also has a built-in firewall that will allow you to toggle wifi, 3g and roaming.
Sorry, I forgot to reply. That is exactly what I was looking for!
Thanks!

t-mobile hotspot without data caps?

I have an unrooted t-mobile galaxy s5. I just learned that I have a 5gb limit on the mobile hotspot, I upgraded to 9gb. However I wonder if there is a way to use the mobile hotspot feature without t-mobile tracking the data usage? I have done the user agent switcher which is apparently how t-mobile knows if you're using data on your phone or your desktop. But are there other more thorough ways of doing this? And what if I wanted to play xbox live for a bit? How could I do that without going over my 9gb limit?
Thanks.
This may be of some help:

I use WiFi Tether and a vpn.
As long as you have an Unlimited Data plan, you're good to go.
The hot spot data usage doesn't increase.
Regarding your user agent switcher method, make sure that the Hotspot usage isn't increasing.

For Xbox a vpn is needed. As you can't change the user agent.

Data being used while Wi-Fi on

So I just realized that my phones been using tons of mobile data. I was under the impression that Wi-Fi supersedes data if both are enabled? I tested it out and it's still using mobile data while Wi-Fi is on.
Anyone know what the deal is or if one of my Wi-Fi settings is causing it?
I'm on Verizon S4 GPE ROM. 4.4.3.
Try going to settings/data usage and see what's using the data. Also, while WiFi is on your mobile days shouldn't be being used.

There's a few things : play music, Facebook, g+, etc. Most of it is music.
Strangely, I have Play Music set to stream, etc. Only on Wi-Fi.
Unless the see data usage app in settings is also reporting Wi-Fi data

[Q] How to block mobile data transfer of a single App

Hallo everyone,
I'm using my Nexus 5 in roaming right now, and I should be carefull with the amount of mobile data transfer. I already blocked almost every background data transfer on various apps, but there's a single app, a game, that makes a lot of foreground data transfer.
How can I block this data transfer from this single app without disconnecting everytime my mobile data transfer?
I hope that I was clear enought to describe my problem, thanks in advance!
up!
Grab a firewall app. I use awfirewall and it works great.
