[Q] HTC amaze Soft bricked ? - HTC Amaze 4G

I was trying to upgrade my rom from GB to higher versions. By mistake jumped to the JB direct using Cyanogen mod 10.1. Tried doing S-Off later but failed at the wired trick. After that reverting to old roms didnt work either. Even tried using ruu roms from t-mobile, asia version with locked boot loader. But it always get stuck on 2 green arrow after rebooting. Lastly i tried pushing recovery (twrp, 4ext) with unlocked boot loader and then flashing custom roms even with un signed rom for unbranded asian phones. But my phone get stucks on the htc logo.
Interestingly the recovery backup i have from few months back also not work after rebooting.
i tried almost all things i read on XDA forums which were proven to be working and followed step by step. But so far no luck.
Below is the information for my HTC Amaze, if it helps
******** UNLOCKED **************
Ruby PVT Ship S-ON RL
HBoot-1.92.0000
eMMC-boot
**************************************
Current recovery 4EXT
cid: HTC__044

First of all you must have s-off before flashing any Rom..
And the wire trick is little difficult but after trying you can easily get s-off..
Keep trying in ubuntu 12.04..

Flash that rom through 4ext also enable smart flash and you'll have a working device

Thanks for the reply. I tried this ROM but it didnt worked for me. Then i followed the instruction from the below link and it worked. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2279289
So simply what i tried was flashing my kernal using the boot.img file from the unsigned rom. For which you provided the link and it restored my phone to working condition. I am so glad that my phone is back to life after two hectic days mess.
Just a quick question. Does it necessary to have S-Off for upgrading Asian HTC Amaze (unbranded) to ICS or JB ? Plus one should first upgrade to ICS then JB (not direct) using RUU ROMs if i understood right (though it didnt work for me not even for GB)

tryuing factory reste with custom recovery

HI. I have a big problem... I tried flashing an OTA file with CWM recovery, and now I get to the HTC white screen with no Quitely brillant below
My hboot is unlocked and I am s-on
I could probable y access fastboot, though I cannot tell right now I cannot use it on the computer I have, but if I access fastboot I have the regular options, and the buttons works. if I choose recovey , I see a android CWM and a small bue progress bar and it reboots back to "Normal" wich is being the white HTC screen right now
I am able to access Hboot which makes me think that I can probably get out of this by flashing back my original RUU.
Pleasae tell me that i am right:
I thought of trying a factory reste to start with , but I am not sure this will work because of the recovery I installed.
My hboot is unlocked.
is it bad Doctor?:crying:
try flashing the stock recovery, then flash the ruu again.
it seems to be leading to something like this ... I'll try
And it worked!!!
I was able to relock the hboot prior to running videotron Ruu executable file. This worked like a charm... I have learned my lesson. I'll wait for my turn to be pushed. Thank you all.

no, the bootloader needs to be locked to flash any ruu file
Dude flash stock recovery relock boot loader then flash the RUU most recent one. And if your gonna unlock boot again and flash another custom recovery us 4ext its the best one in my opinion a lot of options very simple nice user interface no troubles as of yet. Plus it basically like having S-Off cause of smart flash it flashes kernels together with rom. Its 3.00$ on market or you can get it for free from internet or other apps. If anything feel free to pm me

Thanks, but right nowi'm kind of being chicken. Anyway, the OTA file came in anyway, by regular means, so my goal has been acheived.. but I'll chek it out eventually.

Bootloop in every rom

Hello folx,
My device is unlocked, rooted, hboot version 1.53.0007 and s-on. I try to flash rom via 4ext recovery touch. for every rom the boot image show up than restart with an infinite loop. How do i fix it ? The problem caused by hboot version or being s-on ? I don't want to mess up with s-off. I don't want to push my phone that far with wired stuff.
Thanks.
S-on is your issue, the only way you might be able to flash a rom without resulting in a boot loop is with 4ext with smart flash enabled but there's also the hboot which could cause issue too depending in which rom you flashed and also the firmware could also cause issues, so to sum up, go s-off already and do us all a favorite, makes life so much easier
(Don't ask me for help as I couldn't care if your phone explodes, eh!
Best way to fix this is to get s-off using the wire trick then downgrade your hboot to 1.4 (I had the same issue and this fixed it). As flash said, use 4ext recovery. The wire trick isn't that bad, it's actually really easy.
Is there any proper tutorial that i can apply s-off to my phone ? Does the hboot version differ this process?

You need to downgrade your Hboot to install jb roms, and the only way to do it is with S-OFF, I did a few phones using the wire trick method and have not had any problems yet. S-OFF is well worth it if you want try different roms...

This guy is unbelievable. You have been posting redundant solutions that have already been suggested. If there's something different and more insightful that you can add please do so. Otherwise don't post. I know your trying to help but just wait until somebody hasn't had their issue resolved and do what I suggested.
Now I must lay down. My headache is killing me:crying:

This video. is what I used. And for the wire. I just used a piece of small copper wire with rubber on it. But it's the most informative video I've seen.
I had this problem as well.
Ultimately, the solution was to downgrade to hboot 1.49.0007 (from 1.57.xxxx).

[Q] Semi Bricked HTC Evo 4G LTE, Please help

Hello All,
I rooted my phone a long time ago and went from the stock rooted rom to MeanRom ICS. I then wanted to try other roms. I use TWRP 2.6 and tried everything to install a new rom. A friend suggested that I S-off my phone to see if that would work. I then tried Moonshine to S-off my phone. Now the phone wont boot at all. I can still get in the recovery and bootloader, but that's all I can do.

First things first, welcome to XDA, and congrats on your first post/thread. Too bad that this is the reason for it.
On to more pressing matters...are you sure that you completed ALL of the steps in order? Also, did you happen to read this thread?

Do you have a backup you can restore from recovery? If so, install your backup to get you up and running again. Otherwise, you can mount USB storage in recovery and copy a ROM from your computer to your phone, then flash the ROM. Remember since you're S-on you'll need to install the kernel separately from the ROM. Most Sense ROM's like MeanBean and Viper have a kernel installer built in; just follow the OP for whatever ROM you wish to install.
Also, you must either use Facepalm or Dirty Racun to gain S-off on your phone. Moonshine only works for those on Hboot 2.09/software version 3.16.
You can find links to Dirty Racun & Facepalm in the link in my sig.

All that green text means is that the bootloader is looking for a PJ75IMG file on your external SD card. There isn't one normally there unless you're updating firmware. It's normal.

I load the backup, but the screen goes black after the initial HTC boot screen. I don't know what's going on.
I've tried CM 10.1 Nightly, Ubuntu touch WIP, and a few others. Everything seems to do just fine while installing, and then I reboot to a boot loop or staring at the HTC boot screen for a while.
When I rooted my phone, I went from CM 9 to MeanRom. After I went to MeanRom it acted kind of funky. I've not been successful at loading any new roms after that. I think I forced something that the phone didn't like onto it and now its stuck with it.
Try flashing MeanBean. Make sure you wipe properly before you flash it.

Should I go for the newest one? (3.09 or and older version)
The latest version should be just fine. The rom version doesn't change much aside from the fact that 3.09 has the latest changes and bug fixes.

In addition, make sure you follow Mikey's instructions on flashing the ROM since you're S-on for the time being. His ROM has a kernel installer that requires an extra step to install the kernel separately from the ROM on phones that are S-on.

SuperCID for HTC Evo 4G LTE:
Code:
adb shell
su
echo -ne "22222222" | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5 bs=1 seek=20
After you do this start the other commands
Just take your time do one at a time and read what it says in the cmd window
Sorry to bother you guys again, but it says device not found when I enter adb reboot bootloader. Am I doing something wrong? I do beleive I have all the drivers. Sorry for being a pain, still learning about this stuff.

Kernel/root question

So a few weeks ago I soft bricked my htc one and i had a nice guy here on xda help me un brick it and it seemed like I was back to stock with no root. But when I keep trying the AT&T LTE update that I got recently I always get an error at the same spot when installing. I'm thinking I'm rooted because the kernel says "root" right in it ... Although root check says I'm not. I also get an error when rebooting after attempting the update. Help??!!!!
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
You cannot update if you have a custom recovery installed like twrp or cwm.
You need to restore the stock recovery. Also how did you restore back to stock RUU or something else?
Lastly before soft brick were you soff and if so did you super Cid or change anything else?
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
I'm trying to get in contact with the person who helped me... But i was using TWRP and i believe he had me go back to stock RUU. It was a simple process to fix. He had me download a file which took a while and then I just clicked a few buttons and it got me back to stock. I thought I would be able to do updates because I wasn't rooted but i guess I still have a custom recovery.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
OTA and custom recovery never works. You're better off flashing the rooted version of the new update, and the radio.

If you shutdown the phone, then hold power button down and volume button down at the same time it will boot up to the bootloader screen. What does the information on that screen show. Looking for CID number and S-Off or S-ON, Hboot version, etc. Also then with the volume rocker move to recovery and click the power button, does it load TWRP, CWM or the stock recovery?
If everything is stock you should be able to get the OTA updates.

Ok so im hoping this helps getting me on the right track to flashing roms correctly.... I soft bricked and i flashed a stock RUU like this guy does https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WWNZpaQBh8&feature=youtube_gdata_player...so i dont have TWRP and i want to know my options if i can get OTA updates or i should just stick to flashing roms....
But when i go into bootloader it reads as follows..
*Relocked*
M7_UL PVT Ship S-On RH
H boot- 1.44.0000
Radio- 4a.14.3250.13
Open DSP- V 26.120.274.0202
eMMC- boot
May, 3, 2013
and then the normal stuff.
fastboot, recovery, factory reset, sim lock, image crc, showbarcode..
When i tried getting into recovery and loading up TWRP i got the same screen with a red triangle and a red exclamation point as when i try the software update. i used to have twrp but thats before an XDA member helped me out...
What is your Cid on the boot loader screen? Should be CWS__001 (could only be changed if you were ever s-off) other than that sounds like you are stock. You could download helium backup and backup all your apps. Then download the new att ruu and upgrade that way. Restore with helium when done.

Helium you can get from the Google play store. Can be used on a stock phone.
Were you ever s-off? Did you change your cid.? It is odd that you do not see a Cid. From fastboot can you run fastboot getvar all and see if you see your Cid?

[Q] Stuck in bootloop (unlocked/rooted/s-off)

Hello all, and thank you for taking your time to attempt to help me with my problem.
I could not find a solution even after hours of researching and trial and error, so please forgive me if this happens to be one of those problems that are seemingly impossible to solve, when the actual solution is really quite simple! I'm hoping it is at the very least...
A few days ago I received an HTC Evo 3d from a family member.
I'm certain that the phone was completely stock, never rooted, no custom ROMs ---- just an ordinary HTC 3vo.
So I decide that I'm going to go ahead and find the steps necessary in order to flash a custom ROM, and I believe I did with this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889438
I followed the guide, and eventually got to "***Step3: Perform JuopunutBear (wire trick) to get S-OFF status" where I had a little difficulty with the timing of the taps on the SD card. At one point I removed the battery from my phone because I thought it was stuck on the screen with the green arrow pointing downward, and after trying to reboot I found that the same JuopunutBear screen with the green arrow was still there.
I removed the battery once more, but this time when booting I held the volume down button to initiate bootloader. That went successfully, and so after trying the methods I found at http://unlimited.io/jbtroubleshooting.htm to remove this screen, I figured that I might try and flash a ROM from recovery and maybe that would fix it?xD My logic proved only half correct because even after formatting data/cache/dalvik, and then flashing a few different ROMs (not in the order of course) to see if any of them would allow the phone to boot up completely into OS, the phone is now stuck in a bootloop :'(
If I didn't provide enough information in the above description then I'd be glad to give any more details.
My bootloader reads like this:
- Juopunutbear -
SHOOTER XC SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.57.5757
eMMC-boot

^ Never noticed that the date is inaccurate before typing all of this out! Not sure that has anything to do with my problem here, but still interesting..
Thank you again for taking your time to help me.
This phone has given me trouble since it was first given to me lol.
The first issue before rooting or anything was with the inability to use wifi!
I ended up having to buy service for the phone to even register my Gmail account..
You're in good shape
With s off you can recover easily.
The question is what do you want to run?
If you're going to stay ics sense, then you'll just need to format all partitions except sd and flash a Rom
If you want to run a jb Rom, you need to downgrade your hboot to the jbear 1.50

Thank you for the reply
I'll try flashing different sense ROMs specifically,
and see if it will boot all the way through to the home screen.
Have you installed a recovery?
I suggest 4ext
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
I have installed a recovery, and it just happens to be 4ext!
I've been installing my ROMs by toggling usb storage in recovery, placing the ROM on the root of my microSD, and after disconnecting from usb storage I proceed to flash the chosen ROM, provided I've already wiped everything.
My trouble usually comes afterward when the ROM has completed it's installation and I go to reboot. Every time I've tried so far I've encountered a bootloop :/ But we'll see this time!
Gotcha
You'll get it sorted
What Rom are you trying now?
Sometimes you need to flash the boot.IMG after the Rom, but that usually only happens if youre s on.
If it still bootloops I would try this next:
Boot to recovery
Wipe all partitions
Reboot recovery
Wipe all partitions again
Flash Rom
Reboot phone
If all else fails you can run the ruu (will return u to stock Rom and recovery) and you will keep s off but will need to install recovery again.

I chose Team d3rp - Lights Out just to see if it would work, and to my surprise it did!!!
I wiped everything but my sd manually once,
and after flashing the ROM, the aroma installer gave the option to wipe again so I did.
After a suspenseful minute or two during the reboot, I finally got everything set up!
I can't thank you enough..!!
I'm not sure if I should make another thread or not, but the only problem I see now is with the wifi.
I have it connected to my network, and it's showing full signal,
but I can't access the internet and 3g doesn't even pick up when wifi is on.
If needed I'll make another thread, but I figured I would ask just in case!
I appreciate all the help so far.
Try a reboot or different kernel...don't know why it doesn't work

S-off, I think it has to be s-on, hboot 1.53.0007, i'm currently trying to use RUU get back to stock, RUU says :
from image version 3.28.401.1 to 3.28.631.1
But it fails because of model id.
Bootloader is currently relocked.

You can only flash sense based ROMs with that h-boot. Since you're s-off just downgrade your h-boot to 1.49.0007 or 1.49.1107 and you can flash anything you want

Oh crap, made a mistake, I have s-on.
Then you can only flash sense based ROMs. Try Cool ICS, it's great. Or do s-off ?

I was about to download that, hopefully it'll work. :fingers-crossed:
You need 4ext recovery and smartflash enabled because Cool uses custom kernel

I tried with CWM, and after a successful flash and boot, I flashed boot.img via fastboot, seems to be working, thank you!
You're welcome
