Guess its your reading skills but as you dont say what method you used it is no more than a guess .
My guess is that on the first page it says this method is now obsolete and points you to this page .
Root + CWM .

Flash Siyah kernel from www.gokhanmoral.com.. the latest version is 3.5.2...... download the tar file on your pc, search for Odin (PC software), and download it.
Make sure your device has USB debugging enabled.
Reboot into download mode. To do it, turn off your phone, then hold power button + home button + volume down simultaneously. Connect your phone to your PC via cable.
On your PC, make sure kies isn't running (check from task manager and kill all services related to it), open Odin, there should be a yellow highlight which will indicate your phone has been detected. Only f.reset and auto reboot should be ticked, NOTHING ELSE. Click the PDA button and navigate to your siyah kernel .tar file.
Flash and have fun
Edit: you can find Odin attached at the end of the first post of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14283342
Just download it on your PC. No need to read that thread.
Hope all goes well.

Requirements

A Windows PC
USB Drivers installed on your computer. You can get the drivers by installing Samsung KIES on your computer and connect it with your phone. Make sure to close Samsung KIES before proceeding below.
Close system tools such as anti-virus software, firewall programs, and Samsung KIES to avoid interruptions while you root your phone.
To ensure your phone has sufficient power throughout the procedure, charge your phone’s battery to 70% or more.
Enable USB debugging on your phone.
How to update to 4.1.2
First on your computer you have to download the update file and Odin.
We will use Odin for flashing the update on your phone.
The download link for the update file is here.
Download Odin from here.
Extract the update file on your computer and then install Odin.
On the PC open Odin.
Turn off the handset.
Reboot it into download mode.
The download mode can be reached by pressing and holding the Volume Down, Center and Power buttons together.
While the device is in download mode, connect the same with the computer by using its USB cable.
Now, on Odin the ID:COM section should be yellow and the “added” message should be there.
If different, download Samsung KIES and install the proper drivers for your S2 and then repeat the procedure from above.
Up next, click on “PDA” and select the update file (the .tar one).
Click on “start” and in the end you should see the “pass” message displayed.
Unplug the USB cable as you are done.
* Make sure to update to 4.1.2 before rooting as you will lose root access after updating.

Easiest way to root a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (4.1.1)

Hi,
I would like to share, as the uber noob that I am, the easiest way I found to root a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 running on Android 4.1.1.
This tutorial is not from me, I do not take credit, I would just like to help spread the knowledge as it worked for me and made me a happy superuser noob. Please forgive me if I disturb or break any rules sharing this and just remove my post.
Hope it can help some =)
Here it is : HOW TO ROOT SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB 2 10.1 RUNNING ON ANDROID 4.1.1 (NOOB PROOF)
Root package works only with Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 running on Android 4.1.1 XXCLL2. Verify the model number of the device before proceeding.
Pre-requisites
1) Download and install USB drivers for Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1.
2) Enable USB Debugging mode. [Press Menu>> Settings>> Applications. From there, navigate and tap on Development option and ensure the USB Debugging is turned on]
3) Ensure 80 percent battery charge
4) Ensure data back-up
5) The device should be factory unlocked.
6) The guide below just roots the tablet. In order to install custom ROMs, flash custom recovery like CWM recovery on the device
Steps to root Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 on Android 4.1.1 XXCLL2 Jelly Bean
1) Download CF-Auto-Root package for Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 to the PC. Extract the firmware zip file to get a file with .tar extension
2) Download Odin 3.07 and extract the zip file
3) Switch off the tablet and enter into Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down and Power buttons together. A warning message will appear, now press the Volume Down button to enter into Download Mode
4) Run Odin on the PC
5) Connect the Galaxy tab to the computer using USB cable. An 'Added' message will appear under Odin's message box. If the device is successfully connected to PC, COM port with a number in Yellow will appear
[Note: In case the added message is not seen, try another USB port. Reinstall the drivers if this fails]
6) In Odin, click the PDA button and select CF-Auto-Root-esspresso10rf-esspresso10rfxx-gtp5100.tar.md5
7) Hit the Start button in Odin to begin the flashing process
8) Once the installation is completed, a Pass message with green background will be seen in the left-most box at the top of Odin. The tablet will then automatically reboot and a Samsung logo will appear. Unplug the USB cable from the tablet
The device, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100 running on Android 4.1.1 XXCLL2 official Jelly Bean firmware, is successfully rooted. To ensure the aforementioned root method is installed and working properly, install Root Checker app which is available for free download from Google Play Store.

Link to the original tutorial where you can download Odin 3.07 and the CF-Auto-Root-esspresso10rf-esspresso10rfxx-gtp5100.tar.md5 file you will need : Can't post link! :crying: Hopefully someone can post a link to these things here as I'm sure we could find them on this great forum!
Hope it can help! Have a nice day!
