[DEODEX][P769V20D]CWM Backup Stock Fully Deodexed Locked Bootloader - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

Here's a fully deodexed stock JB CWM backup for the p769. Backup made with artas' CWM and locked boot loader.
I installed Google keyboard because LG keyboard force closes. Removed LGEmail.apk and .odex (use gmail) because it would not deodex.

MAKE A WORKING BACKUP FIRST!
Ok, I made a tar.gz file so no one would try to flash it, zips are sometimes confused. Just download file and place on your external_SD.
Use your favorite file browser(root explorer?) and extract to your clockworkmod/backup/ folder, or extract and move it there.
Reboot to recovery, restore the backup.

Much appreciated. Please make a CWM backup using the tar format. It is much easier to flash.

This looks like just the thing I need... but
Are there any installation instructions/requirement? Just root and flash with artas's recovery?

That's the exact procedure. Its a cwm backup, made with artas' cwm.
Just restore in recovery.
Edit: always make a cwm backup first! Let me know how it goes issues/success. If there is a problem I'll try my best to help fix

md5 checksum mismatch
I get a md5 checksum mismatch no matter how I try to restore this backup. I've extracted it using androzip on the device directly and i've extracted it on a computer and then copied it over to the device but I always get the same result. I'm using a p769 on T-Mobile US wtih a locked bootloader, rooted with the lelus method and then used the l9 recovery installer to install cwm recovery. Anyone have any idea? thanks in advance

OK, the file is fine, I just downloaded it and restored using cwm, no md5 mismatch. I did it all on my phone, used root explorer to extract. So I'm guessing whatever your using on the PC to extract it is causing the issue. Hope that helps

So basically just extract the file into no specific folder inside backup? Just the file?

It will be a folder when extracted, just put it In clockworkmod/backup/

You sir are wrong. It becomes .tar file, unless we have to extract that as well? If thats even possible. Either way ive tried putting it into a folder myself. Nothing. But it into a copy of my own cwm backup and deleted everything and put the .tar there. Nothing. Same with my external. Theres something wrong here. I find that if cant just reupload a zip file containing a default (dub) file backup. Im smart enough to know not to flash it. Maybe that would fix it. Idk. lol

ok all you have to do is put the file it should be in a folder already and if its in a zip or rar extract it then put in sdcard then put it in the folder clockworkmod which should be on your sdcard already then inside the backup folder and if you dont have any do the following
on the root of your sdcard make a folder called "clockworkmod" no caps then inside that another folder called "backup" then inside that one put the extracted filed then boot to recovery and choose restore from external sdcard and you should see the file
GoodLuck

Wait you dont have unlocked bootloader do you? ((extra info)and so you know when you flash a recovery to unlocked bootloader it registers as a P760 phone and artas recovery registers as a P769) it all depends how he did the backup thats why you get md5 mismatch but then again sometimes it acts really stupid but ask him what recovery he used to backup artas or unlocked bootloader
The backup file that you downloaded will have a specific folder name. Usually the date and time it was made. You will get a mismatch if you modify the folder name. Just extract the backup to the backup folder.
sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/date and time/files

Then its probably as you said, backup compatibility.
Or the files are actually corrupt.
If you feel like living on the edge, you can modify the nandroid.md5 file to match the md5 of the files that have a different number. I do this when I want to install a different boot or recovery img that was not backed up with the original.
Edit:
Or check if the md5 numbers are actually correct. Type (in a terminal)
md5 <name of file>
Example
md5 recovery.img
and compare that number to the number found in the nandroid.md5

Description: This is a simple guide that will allow you to easily root your Verizon Galaxy S4 device without having to wipe your device or flash a full prerooted factory image. This method works using a root exploit (originally created by user hiikezoe, then ported for ease of use by DooMLoRD) and modifications of this exploit to work on the Verizon Galaxy S4 device (provided by user PWM978). Only change is I have modified the root method to use the latest SuperSU binaries and repackaged with simpler instructions.

Step 1 - Preparation
Download and Install Samsung Official USB Drivers - Link
Download and Install Android Terminal Emulator on your device - Link
Download the extract the Root Exploit package on your computer - Link
Click to collapse
Step 2 - MicroSD Card Preparation
Insert a microSD into your device ***Required***
Make sure it is formatted as exFAT (not FAT32) ***VERY IMPORTANT***
If you have a 64GB microSD card you can use your phone to format it as exFAT by default directly from the Storage settings
If you have anything less than 64GB microSD card you may have to use the computer to format it manually as exFAT
***If your microSD card is not formatted as exFAT you will see "permission denied" errors when running the exploit***
Once formatted, move all files and folders from the Root Exploit package directly onto the root of your microSD card (nowhere else)
Click to collapse
Step 3 - Rooting Your Device
Open the Android Terminal Emulator app on your phone
Run the following 3 commands one after another (capital letters are important)
Code:
cd /mnt/extSdCard
./pwn
./script.sh
After running the second command you should have seen your $ change to a # meaning you have root access
The third command is required to make this root access permanent
After all 3 commands are done, close the Terminal app and check if SuperSU has any update in the Play Store
Open SuperSU app and let the binary update itself to the latest (if any updates are available)
Once complete, just open a root application and verify that is able to access root properly
Reboot your device one time and confirm you still have root acess
If all is well you should now be fully rooted on the stock VRUAME7 build of your phone
***Make sure to avoid all future OTA's to prevent this root method from being patched!***

You can install xposed installer. Some nottach stuff works and was able to get the wifi hotshot toggle and brightness toggle set up, infinity scroll. And my beloved root apps.
You can still change a lot with just root.

Until they figure out how to unlock the bootloader, you will never be able to flash any ROM to this phone regardless of the method since flashing a ROM requires irt to be flashed to the boot rom which also holds the bootloader and is currently locked tighter then Obamas death grip on the US.
Well we can actually modify system files its just the boot.img that we cant mess with. I have faith

But the more options avaliable the better. You never know, one of these workarounds may lead to a way to unlock the bootloader.
This might work if we run tb fixer right before trying this. Since it fixes the selinux flags.

I'm still running MI9 and have the one click to go back if i need too. I am going for it! i have downloaded X Note an in process of copying it over to my SD card. Will report back shortly. Wish me luck!
Edit: 1st attempt ended up in boot loop with the script complaining of a lot of stuff not found. Will one click back and try again.
Edit 2: 2nd attempt was for the gold! now running Xnote 5.1 using the Kn0x0ut script with a few minor changes...
Do not try this if you are running MJ5!!!
Only attempt if you are able to One-click back to MI9!!!
1st Extract the kn0x0ut folder to your sdcard.
2nd Download rom and extract the data and system folder to the "put_files_here" folder
Launch ADB and allow it to connect to phone. USB debugging must be on
Enter the following in the console and grant SU permission when prompted on the device.
Code:
adb shell
su
stop
mount -o rw,remount /system/ /system/
cd /sdcard/kn0x0ut
sh kn0x0ut.sh new_rom
Wait for finish, then manually reboot by holding the power button until it reboots.
Most likely you will need to enter your APN manually.
Please press thanks if this helped you!
One damn brave soul! Thanks a lot man. Wish i still had MJ5 could of done something to get a custom rom running. Can't do warranty exchange as i got Spigen glas.tr on it. Now I will need to explore my option on getting MJ5!

Code:
adb shell
su
stop
mount -o rw,remount /system/ /system/
sh kn0x0ut.sh new_rom
Wait for finish, then manually reboot by holding the power button until it reboots.
Most likely you will need to enter your APN manually.
Please press thanks if this helped you!

You need to be on MI9
MJ5 would be very risky!!!
Anyone still running MI9 and has the one click files could try this with minimal danger i believe.

MI9 is the build version for the att version. Recently MJ5 was released and would be very risky to try this while on MJ5.

[Tutorial] How to mod files for Safestrap Alpha

I was just gonna make this little tutorial to take some work off of The actual Dev for the Project(Beastmode) thanks again for your work brother
In his newest alpha release of safe strap we're able to replace the stock rom slot with a 4.3 Touchwiz ROM, I have seen people report that they have flashed certain roms without having to do any modification, but this is a safety precaution.
First you will need your rom of choice, in this tutorial I'm using N3BULA.
Download the rom and extract the contents to a folder on your pc or phone, PC is much easier, but you can edit on your phone as well
The files you need to edit are under META-INF/COM/GOOGLE/ANDROID that's actually the only files
Im using his modified files from the dev thread for comparison.
First we'll open the Aroma-Config
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2650078&stc=1&d=1395786107
Pardon the crude screen shot method but this will show you the changes and where they are.
Modified is on the left and Stock that came with the rom is on the right. Make the Changes and save
Next is Updater-Script
Same crude method of screen shot
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2650086&stc=1&d=1395786357
you can see where the two differ, so just edit that out as well.
Left is modified, Right is stock
Save Changes
Edit 3/26 you can also delete boot.img in zip
Make sure these files are on external sd card as well as the rom, boot into recovery, always make a nandroid backup, wipe and flash.\
This is the first time I have made a tutorial, so if its rough around the edges please excuse my forum newbness
if I missed anything definitely feel free to add, and once again A HUGE THANK YOU BEASTMODE.
Hopefully in a few hours or days these edits wont be needed.
how do we go about putting them into the rom zip file?
You edit them in the rom zip file... extract the rom and it moves as a zip, my case was it downloaded to storage sdcard (internal). I extracted it to ext sdcard and then went in and edited it. It still remains a zip

Easy way is to use 7 zip. Extract the ROM and make the changes. Now right click on original ROM and select open archive. From there u can place the modded files. Now the ROM.zip is still flashable.

of course as soon as i posted it, i figured it out, unfortunately i can't get alliance to work afterwards, it installs but doesn't boot
I'm using alliance atm on safestrap. Don't mod anything. Just choose the stock kernel when you get to that point in the installer.
So glad to see you post that.!!! Been talking to a guy about it for about 2 hrs about it now, I actually told him it should work as long as agni wasn't chosen, thanks for clarification

I tried and unedited version of alliance and it tripped Knox and I had to odin anyone got an edited version with out kernel that they know works

In my nebula zip I have a file on the root called boot.img should I delete this file as well?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk
It wouldn't hurt. The script edits disregard it but just to be safe you can

I don't get it I edited the zips and then when i try to flash in recovery it just says failed? it doesn't give me a specific reason. This is for n3bula rom. But i extracted using winrar, deleted boot.img, changed the aroma config and updated zip using wordpad, zipped the rom and it doesn't seem to work. is there something i'm doing wrong?

After you deleted the boot.img there is no point in editing the rest. I used 7zip to unzip and rezip and have not had any problems yet. Winrar might be causing problems for all i know as i never use it. I'm not around my pc for the most part atm but i haven't had any problems flashing 4 or 5 roms with just deleting the boot.img.

I ended up fixing it. I tried doing it through winrar and from root explorer on my phone. The way I got it to work was actually downloading the aroma-config file and uodater-script file from the development thread that beast mode provided and changed those. He happened to use nebula as well so everything is working great

So I have to delete stuff in the updater script and the boot.img correct? I opened the updater script in notepad and it looked nothing like that..
trying to install Jett rom and im not sure what will happen when I delete that kernel line..
already deleted boot.img
Just delete the boot.img nothing else

Excellent. Thank you!!!
Sorry for the dumb question but what do I do if the rom of choice isn't showing up on the root of my extSD?
EDIT:
Nevermind, to anyone who saw my last post(s), I'm an idiot .
Ran through Odin, re-rooted, re-installed Safestrap, now installing N3bula Rom.
Hope all goes well. And sorry for any inconvenience!
Hope my donation helped out some Beastmode!
