So I've had this device for about three months, flashed all kinds of ROMs with no problems. Recently my phone will not enter deep sleep. After checking BBS, vbus_present is keeping my phone awake. This happens on any rom , regardless of apps installed or not. One oddity is having to restart the phone after unplugging it just so it will no longer show that's its charging. And yes I have searched, and read, and wiped, etc, so if any one knows any helpful hints I'd really appreciate it.
Currently on Carbon ROM, stock kernel' no deep sleep. Battery in settings shows 0 min on battery and its been unplugged for an hour

Vbus present means you have something in your microusb like you're charger. If youre not charging 24/7 then its probably your usb port is a little dirty. I had the same exact problem (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2131644) and got it fixed
Did u take it apart? I've tried blowing it out, using a toothbrush, still always awake.
Easy fix you could do it yourself...

Hey there,
My phone drained while plugged in and I noticed after I unplugged it the charge began to climb. Ideas? Anyone else?

Dont want to be the pessimist but my brothers phone did this. He sent it off to samsung and they sent him a bill for £150. Apparently it was water damage. There are other threads on here though have been diagnosed as faulty USB connection on the main board.
Ricey
Well it hasn't touched water.. seems the charge count has stopped going up.

Neither had my brothers, apparently its sensitive that the slightest condensation can cause the indicators to turn. Thats what they told my brother.
Ricey
Just an Android bug.
When charging, the phone thinks it's draining, so it says; it's losing power.
When decharging, it thinks it's charging... Phone Samsung, send some photos (with the phone) and make sure the water-sticker has all it's crosses VISIBLE!
If you don't want to risk a bill yet, then try flashing a different ROM... (First, backup, incase it doesn't work, flash stock ROM via Odin, if that doesn't work, try a different custom ROM, if that doesn't work, you phone's f**ked...)
I will try this tonight when I am home. Thank you for the input. I will post results

Phone will not charge now..
OK... didn't have a chance to flash a different ROM. if anyone has any suggestions on which rom to go with I would appreciate it.
Today it seems that the battery will not charge. It sees that it is plugged in but it does not take charge. The saga continues! I am thinking about getting another battery just to test this out.
You must rule out bad roms by flashing a stock rom .

Another observation: while off battert reads about 40 percent and when i turned it on it says 14 percent

Mine did that like a week after buying the phone. They switched the usb plug in warranty repair.
Has been working fine for ~6months now

ah... so i am going to be paying lol. thank you very much for the input!
Common bug.
What seems to happen with mine is that the battery miscalculated the amount it's drained by when you use it for a while - For example, using google maps as a car GPS. After you get to the destination, and turn off the GPS and Data, the battery APPEARS to regain charge - it's not really, it's just recalculating the amount it was drained by.
A battery refresh will sort it, it's also very common if you reboot/crash at under 50% power. It reboots at around 10% and ticks back up to the 'correct' value after an hour or so.
It gets worse after a few weeks of use, and a battery refresh (full charge, shut down, remove battery for 2 minutes, replace battery, fully charge, switch on), sets everything back to default again and it behaves itself for a while.
Not had it happen for a couple months now, but I've not been dinking around with flashing stuff of late so it's not been crashing horribly (which was the main CAUSE of this bug), in the first place.
Here is some news... tried a different USB cable and guess what? No more charge issues or over voltages.

Don't buy a new battery!
Before paying for anything;
while the phone is running, pull the battery...
2. (Leave the battery out) Plug your phone in, if it recognizes the charger, leave it to clear the RAM properly, plug the battery back in, boot into CWM and wipe battery stats! Once done, take from charger, unplug battery, plug it back in, then leave the phone powered down, and plug charger in. Leave it for an hour or two, then boot into Android. Now it should work fine
It's a problem with your usb charging port. It will progresssively get worse and ICS will keep telling you that its paused charging due to overvoltage. The only way to truly fix it is to have the charging port plus circuit board replaced. Happened to me a week back and I tried virtually everything- stock roms, removed root, replaced batteries etc. None of that worked. Some posts said it was a port problem. Went to a tech guy I knew and he confirmed the issue when he disconnected the port. It was relatively cheap for me to fix but some people have climed that samsung charges a large amount to fix it. You're better off trying to get it fixed on your own. If you're on warranty, try and claim it
hello,
i have this problem with my gt-i9100.
sometimes when my phone enters deep sleep after a time I can't turn it back on. I've tried calling it, it sounds as if it'd be turned on and ringing from the caller phone, but the sgs2 does nothing, as if it'd be turned off. I can only enter download/recovery and reboot from there
I currently have neatrom xxlsj full, happens with other ics/jb roms as well.
any ideas?

come to think about it, i think my phone was like 50% last night, then went to sleep and in the morning it was off and had 0% battery. I'll have to check more carefully, that might be it. Other than that during normal usage i find the battery life quite normal.
this issue happens in wanamlite/neatrom with their respective kernels
i don't remember having this issue in ressurection remix, but i found it quite laggy and even after fixing permissions/reinstalling rom i was getting force crashes while going through settings, so i didn't hang around it too much.
betterbatterystats app is good to finger whats goin on with the battery, in relation to the rom u r actually on.
you can also try cm or stock to see what happens.
from sii xda-ded
i was right, the battery drains like hell when it's in sod.
came back to stock. i'll see what happens

geez, that's a hell of a drop there. Try calibrating....but your looking at a wipe & probably a faulty chip (u better hope not, it's not fun when it's not hardware).
I've seen a couple of guys with this problem, hell sometimes i unplug mine at 65 and goes up to 68 on it's own.
I recall a portugese guy that had a problem like this, he could go from 70% to 1% in a blink; he did get another battery tho.
damn, most likely faulty chip.
i'll try calibrating. either way, i still have the warranty. sucks anyway, they're slow
Secuence of events that happened BEFORE the problem started:
1-Had a working rom of CM7.2
2-Battery was going out too quickly (7 hours or so) therefore I tried wiping battery data
3-Charged the phone
4- Unplugged it, took a picture
Problem:
One hour later I realised it was turned off...
I turned it on again, it turned off soon afterwards
for a moment it had a problem turning on (it wouldn't go past the cm logo)
afterwards it was even worse; it turned off before even passing the first logo, I couldn't even get it to recovery mode.
Solution Attempt no.1
Tried to get it to stock rom with Odin.
I was able too... but the problem persisted in the new Rom.
Solution Attempt no.2
Tried to get another rom
My situation NOW
I'm back on stock Rom. If I leave my phone alone for like an hour or so it works for 20/30 secs before turning off... After that the problem gets worse till I cannot boot.
Any ideas guys?
How old is the battery? There are apps on playstore to check your battery, thats where I would start. It doesn't sound like a Rom problem, sounds like hardware.ie battery first. Gluck.

Can't have the phone on for 1 minute, forget about downloading and using an app from the store...
I don't know if it's a hardware problem since it happen really suddenly...and just the day after I resetted the battery stats ..... Maybe it is a hardware issue but I want to be sure I tested everything first
Hey, maybe you moved on but I was having the same issue on every ROM.. stock or not. being the detective I am I investigated and inspected.
One of my battery connecting pins is loose even though it's pressed tightly in the case any moderate amount of force or impact loosens it from the contacts.
My temp solution for you would be to add something to the back cover to apply enough pressure to keep the battery still or resolder the copper connectors. The first being easier.
Hit thanks if that helps.
Invest in a new battery. Simple solution.

My S2 recently started acting up, charging super fast and dying quickly as well. It's like the overvolt regulation doesnt work properly, it gets very very hot and then it just says fully charged, remove cord (even when it's unplugged), or it just hangs and suddenly I'm at 0% battery again.
I've tried several different batteries and chargers, I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with them. Anyone experienced something similar?

I'm just using normal 4.1.2 ICS. The warmth is not part of the problem, it's just a strange symptom, like for example if I turn it completely off, sometimes it gets very hot while off and the battery dies completely, even if it was full when I turned it off.

normal 4.1.2 ics trust me the warmth is being caused by the problem... either your usb charger board has gone/all the batteries you've tried are beyond wonky or you have WAKELOCKS giving your phone a proper beating. tap that graph shown in your screen shot see whats running. have you tried taking battery out of phone for few minutes (5) popping back in charging to full (while off) and then turning on? good luck

I think it must be a problem with the internal USB port or the board. I've tried cleaning it out a little, but it doesn't seem to help.
Should I order that part? USB Flex cable+circuit board? Are they easy to replace or do i need to solder?
Easy to replace, lots of threads on here about it recently (This seems to be happening to a lot of people). You just need to make sure you order the right part (It's cheap & easy to find; search for those recent threads).

They all do that. I forget the name if the wakelock now, but that is the reason certain 3rd party mains or car chargers don't work properly. Anyway, just the fact the phone is awake whilst charging is nothing to worry about, until you get a BBS log and see if anything other than charging is keeping it awake.

So I replaced the board, and it was like you guys said pretty easy. It works just like normal now. However my speaker stopped working after replacing it, no idea why though as it's in the top of the mobile (?).

Did you have it plugged in to the charger whilst it was on? Or anything plugged into the usb port anyway.
What you need to do is: fully charge the phone. Unplug, wait an hour or so, screenshot the categories ad Gaston said, and then we'll see. Right now those screenshots don't mean a whole lot.
Before you do that though, please update the version of betterbatterystats that you're using. That version is crazy old. The newest version (from xda thread) has a lot of bugs ironed out.
