[BootAnimation] for PAC-man (and others) - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I've been running the PAC-man nightlies since release, but never really liked the boot animation. I'm also in the midst of teaching myself After Effects, so it seemed like a good way to get some practice. I think it came out pretty well, so here it is in case anybody might be interested.

Great job man! Keep goin! Im gonna have to get after effects and mess around with it too. You think you could post in here or pm me with any tutorials or anything that helped you if you have any. I appreciate it man.

Thanks! I actually got into an online course that was temporarily free via Reddit, which is what spurred me to pick up AE. I didn't use any remotely advanced techniques, though, so it'd probably all be covered in any basic tutorial. In terms of formatting it, though, I relied heavily on this post on XDA, as well as the supplied app for formatting the ZIP.

I don't believe so; you're gonna need at least a custom kernel that supports custom boot animations.

Awesome man!

I actually haven't been on Pac for a couple months, so I couldn't say for sure. That being said, unless there've been some major changes I can't imagine why it wouldn't. Glad you like it!

Hey, that's great! I was planning on refining this a bit (after I realized how stupidly I did some things) and might actually get around to doing that now. I'll let you know if that happens! And good luck with the port!

Does it work with S4 International (19505) with Cyanogenmod 10.2?

Using it now! Fantastic work. :3

Thanks!

CM7 vs. MIUI

So we may be getting MIUI soon. "Within a week or so" according to aceoyame
http://twitter.com/aceoyame
Wether it happens or not (Im not trying to stir up any expectations), what is the big difference between the two ROMs?
Very cool, I tried MIUI back when I had the OG X, it was nice but buggy. Hopefully this will be a better turnout!

I've never used MIUI, obviously since I have an X2. What are the major features on it?
This might be construed as sacrilegious in this forum, but MIUI from what I understand is an AOSP ROM that has an iOS look and feel to it.
See what I mean by being sacrilegious?
http://miuiandroid.com/
I actually believe once the BSR was released for the X2, someone released the "Chinese ROM" for the X2 which is what MIUI is from what I understand.

Yeah, I just looked up some videos and I definitely see the iOS resemblance (which kinda throws me off). The one thing I see they have for that ROM though is a lot of different lockscreens, which is cool but not important to me. I guess its just another option for people. I love CM7 and how it runs on my phone now. Apparently they are working on an ICS port too. I will probably flash that when/if it comes out.

It's a lot like an iPhone, but the UI is very customizable.
(sorry for the random thanks, hit the wrong button, derp!)

Miui is a Chinese rom based on cyanogenmod. It's ui is based on several different OS's and ui's however. The main reason people think its too much like ios is the lack of an app drawer on the launcher. The launcher can be replaced just like any other, though.
There was a time on the og Droid when it certainly was buggy, but those kinks were ironed out pretty well in the gingerbread iterations.
Full support from Miui.us would depend on official support from cyanogenmod. Unofficial ports are possible whenever somebody takes the time to do it.

Apparantly aceoyame, along with others, has been working on MIUI and ICS ports. But he can no longer post here on XDA. So I will be keeping an eye on his twitter.

I dont want to be spreading stuff about others. Check his twitter and read what he said:

I like the MIUI look more than CM7. It is a very clean look and cool UI. I'm currently using MIUI on my OG Droid and CM7 on my X2. And regardless who the Dev is, it is a win for us to have options for an until recently dead in the water device.
Well, with aceoyame's new beta MIUI rom now posted I will be giving it a go in a few minutes to see if I like it better or the same as cm7. It is nice to have options. Just have to wait for dkz ICS rom now. Hopefully?
I will update my $.02 on likes/dislikes of the two roms as a casual user after I spend some time with MIUI.
Just nandroided back from the miui beta. Install went perfect. Got apps and everything set the way I like it... after an hour, decided I did not like it. Just seemed way to busy for my liking. ÇM7 for this Guy!!

This is the same thing that happened to me. I tried MIUI and honestly it feels hacked together. I don't know what the issue was/is but my phone definitely did not like it nearly as much as CM7 or even Eclipse 2.0.3 for that matter.
Perhaps in a later version I'll try it again to see if it's working a bit smoother. Until then, I really can't afford to have so many performance issues and anomalies.

I gave MIUI a try last night but after a few hours of messin around I ended up back on CM7. I'll pry try it again after some more development.

Super slick rom there. I'd def love to have it on my GS3!
I love this ROM, it's really great on my S II, and I imagine would be more enjoyable to use on the S III due to it's 4.8 HD Amoled
Would be nice to have this run on our gs3s

Yes, I want this rom too
When I got my "new" s3, I gave my "old" s2 (running Paranoid Android1.1) to my wife.
Well, I knew that this rom really missed me on s3 and I had the hope that someone will port this really innovative rom.
....so, go for it!
Thanks in advance
EDIT: Ok, it seems that everything is moving way fast around S3.
We already have CM9, AOKP and finally ParanoidAndroid
+1 here.

Not Another Flame War!!!!! ICS i777

Hey ppl of the forum!
This is my first post here........well this is my first post in any forum!
Its June and I wanted to know opinions of which rom is stable/crash less so far for u guys !! Its June and there's been a lot of revisions and updates for most of the ICS Roms out there. After reading most of the forums AOKP seems to be it.........or am i wrong??
Oh if this topic is not allowed for flaming......sorry!!! I understand how annoying it can be.
Since you mentioned AOKP, go ahead and run it. Very stable ............ again, based on my definition.
Note: nobody will flame you since this will be closed as the speed of the bullet.
Just do you a favor.
lol Figured....one question about AOKP....i just flashed it a couple of days ago....f-ing love it....will it be reliable enough for some one who travels a lot???

You can also head over to the GT-i9100 forums and find a ROM there and Hellraise it. Hellraising is basically like porting. Im using the KOUD AOSP ROM and it's one of the best onse ive used so far. The Simplistic Disaster Earthquake III ROM is also a work of art.

Getting my Note II Tomorrow

Hey everyone, I'm moving from my Galaxy Nexus tomorrow to the Note II. I'm new to the Note II community (obviously) and my purpose in creating this thread was to get a feel for what ROMs people are using. This thread is NOT for bashing any ROMs, and not for arguing.
If you would, please post what ROM you're using, and a reason or two why you like it.
I understand some people are against this kind of thread, I'd just like to get a feel for what aspects' of ROMs people enjoy, since the Note 2 is a unique device.
Thank you for your kindness in advenced
The two I'm familiar with are cleanrom and beans, cleanrom has the same look as stock with everything cleaned up and a few custom options while beans is stock with aosp theming and more customization. I like both but I've been on beans for a while because I like the aosp look. I was on cleanrom for a long while before that and it was great, I just wanted the change in look haha

CleanROM ACE
Eclipse
Jedi
All have their merits... all are good ROMs. I'm on Jedi right now and really liking it, though. But you can't go wrong with any of the four I listed above.
i also recently made the switch from a galaxy nexus ive had the note 2 for about 10 days an im jus in love with this phone.i use clean rom lite touchwiz has really grown on me so i jus wanted sum stockish but debloated of sum crap.no issues yet an so happy dat i dont find myself flashing roms every other day lol!

Just wanted to say, gratz! I moved from the GNex to the Note 2 myself, just this week. WOW I love it. I miss the onscreen nav buttons and the branding free front face of the GNex but thats about it. The Note 2 is amazing. The battery life alone... holy cow. My Gnex would require charging by midday and a battery swap in the evening when I got home. LAME.
Anyway enjoy the new phone! I will be interested to see the recommendations as I too need a good first ROM.

I might go for the LMT launcher for that PA pie.... It's a nice feature. There really isnt a need for the nav buttons, I just wish samsung had put the back button on the left side and exchanged the menu button for recents.
I came from the GNex as well. With Beans and Nova Launcher, my phone looks exaclty like my GNex did..only bigger and badder in every way shape and form! :good:

Ratus, good to see you around again.
Check out the Development thread, as rogersb has been cranking out a CM 4.4.3 rom, while cyril has SlimKat/Saber running 4.4.2.
There are some ported ones too (4.4.2), and they're extremely easy to upgrade with no specific i777- bugs that I can think of.
Is there a KK rom out there that doesn't have the reboot bug with camera apps?

Yep, try out C-ROM. It's an i9100 rom but can be booted on the i777 by using Shift Kernel.
