Hello everyone,
I have joined here hoping to get some advice, so i will be as complete with my situation as i can.
So, i rooted my phone, installed busybox, root explorer and CWM. No problems so far.
Read up on rom installations and attempted my first one. Cannot remember the rom at the moment but followed instructions as in "back up", wipe cache etc....
Now the phone is in bootloop, whereby it switches on, goes to sony erricson screen, blue light flashes and then goes blank. I cannot enter CWM, i cannot switch off until i remove battery.
I have tried both pc companion repair and seus repair but both say no software for phone(pc companion) and newest software installed(seus).
I have tried booting into safe mode the old fashioned way, but no go and finally....i have shouted obscenities at my phone but that doesn't work either.:silly:
any suggestions, or should i assume that it is bricked and send off for repair if possible?
Thank you.
Hey bro have you locked or unlocked bootloader?
Flash stock .587 firm with flashtool.
Some roms are only for locked or unlocked bootloader. You need to see that before install a rom. And remember. Not all the roms are stable.
Follow step by step. Is recomendable before install a rom. Flash stock firm.

I went it alone last night and used flashtool to restore a stock rom that i had found and downloaded, and it worked apart from one thing..............the touchscreen will not work now
I have no option to unlock the bootloader according to my phone info, so i will try this .587 firmware you mentioned. Could you provide a link if possible and any advice on the touchscreen.

You can't run a gingerbread rom with the stock kernel! Thats why you stick on the stock kernel logo (sony ericcson). Read the first post of the rom you flashed carefully. Isn't there something like you need costum kernel, unlock bootloader first...
What Rom did you Flash?
I hope you did a Backup in recovery ?
Did you follow the install instructions? Full wipe... Tell us a bit more, so we ca help you

SEUS is the Sony Ericsson Update Service. As the name says, it updates your phone and repairs if necessary.
If you are trying to flash a new ROM, you have to unlock bootloader first, install custom kernel and then flash the new ROM. Look for the tutorials, they should help.

You need to unlock the Bootloader. Then you can flash a Costum Kernel. Use The flashtool, it's a Genius "one big Button Tool" from Bin4ry and Androxyde Thank and Donate to them. Read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10881307. Its a "How to Guide". The Flashtool you can get here: http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool I hope this helps. Happy modding

Before flashing a custom kernel, be sure you meet the requirements to do so. I mean, sometimes you need a specific baseband version in order for the kernel to work properly

No it is the Homepage of the Flashtool. 100% real . But lets start from the beginning and please be more specific! Did you repair your Phone with SE Companion? Or are you trying to Flash over and over again? When you have a bootloop the Flashtool can't reconize your Phone

hm.. but update service will give him .62 not .42, right? or are you thinking on making prerooted image? hm now i got idea
@ prazadx: are you willing to do clean flash with pc companion or sony update service, then we'll instruct you how to make .62 .ftf, but it will be around 150MB after you zip it, wich you would need to upload..
then if your phone is sim-lock free your fastboot should be open, and it should accept prerooted .img.
even if your bootloader is locked i think it only matter for kernels.

Just flash this with flashtool (extract using winzip or eqivalent first to get the ftf), root using flashtool, update OTR, install cmw and you are fine.

I'm gonna perform this flashing with flashtool. all i need is to downgrade my current firmware to .42, so that i can root my device. also this is a sim lock free device with a locked bootloader.
is there any other way to root without downgrading??
also, thanks mate..
There are another way to root but you need to unlock your bootloader, sorry I cant put links, but if you search right here in this Forum "unlock bootloader" you would see the options to do that.
Definitly this way is the only you have without unlockink bl. Thats all the peoplo say because I cant flash .42 on mine....flashtool stop always before 100% I will format pc...i dont know what other thing can be.

Yes the different device ftf may cause touchscreen fault due to driver mismatching/wrong kernel, but i was using Sola's ftf so that is ruled out.Although you are right that something different is corrupting the screen 'cause Xperia Mini had the same problem that was related to some rom flashing.
Or may be,the flashtool doesn't format all the partitions of the phone and there are some hardware files still lurking somewhere in the one of the partition thats causing the problem, but its just my guess.
I thought that only wrong kernel can cause hardware failure, didn't knew that a simple rom flash can do this,so lesson learnt:silly:

Does the touchscreen fault occured after flashing a rom/mod or after a physical damage?
If it is related to some physical damage, the solution won't work and you have to send it to service center.

Dude please have proper knowledge before posting. You need an unlocked bootloader for custom kernels not the official one which are signed by sony. In the complete ftf firmware kernel is also included and it is flashed using flashtool. So in official kernel everything is removed from the ftf except kernel.sin and loader.sin and then the ftf is flashed on locked bootloader. As simple as that.

Do not follow his steps, unlocking bootloader will erase drm files which cause track id not to work and you will not be able to receive ota updates.
SO, do not unlock your bootloader unless you understand the consequences.
Now, what I can tell you is try to repair with seus or pcc, after that follow the rooting guide again, it is very simple but make sure you are following step by step correctly.
The phone is in your hand and the computer is infront of you.
You are the one who is going to figure this out and make this work.
Good luck.

Hello guys.
I'm new here, and i read this forum since i bought my Sony Xperia U, 2 weeks ago.
I got an ICS 4.0.4 on my xu, but i didn't like.
So i tried to get back to GB 2.3.7, by flash on flashmode.
The problem is, i downloaded the wrong GB version, for ST27i. My phone is ST25i.
The thing is, my touchscreen doesn't work anymore. I'm desperate.
I can't flash nothing again, because my usb debugging is off.
Anyone please help me!
I can't flash on flashmode. There is anyway to flash on fastboot mode, with usb debugging off? How?
Thank You!
K bro
For flashmode u dun need debugging on
Do this
Remove battery
Reinsert battery
Dun switch on
Flash xperia u ftf
Dun switch on
Flash st27 ftf (wrong one which u flashed)
Dun switch on
Flash xperia u ftf again
Swtich on now

Thank you ! Now i'm flashing my xperia u stock rom...then i'll flash the wrong, then the stock (st25i) again. Right?
I'll come back soon to make reports =)
Thank you very much again
This method didn't worked.
Can i try it again?
During the last flash, i couldn't flash the stock rom. So i removed the battery, then i got to flash it ..maybe didn't work because this?
To make things more clear.
I was with ICS 6.1.1.B.1.89
Then i tried to downgrade to GB, but with wrong ftf st27i_6.0.B.3.184. I couldn't even turn it on.
So, flashed another ftf ST25i_6.1.1.C.1.0_T-Mobile. Then my touchscreen get no response anymore.
Any idea?
Thank you.

Flash only a gb ftf. Or fast boot a kernel with cwm and wipe data, cache and dalvik and flash my Rom (nosh1t) that will recover your phone

i also experienced that problem when i had that phone. the problem is that the digitizer was destroyed. went to shop and they repaired it for almost a month coz of the limited spec. they just replace my lcd with a new one but my imei is the same. so i think they will replace it haha.
Now i'm with brand new xperia u.
Just one advice guys. PAY ATENTION on the ftfs you'll flash! Be sure it's for ST25i, or you might have serious problems =/
Thank you all for the help!
