Hello
First, it seems that no matter what battery app or widget I try, it always has rounded percentages. What I mean is that it only shows 40% or 60% or whatever, never 43% or 67%, etc. Can I change this to show single-digit changes?
Second, I accidentally hit OK on the popup that said an update was available for the phone. I don't want to update until the rooting issue is firmly grasped, but it is telling me that if I connect to WiFi, it will download the update. How can I cancel this update?
Use Circle Battery Widget.. that goes by increments of 1, not 10. I've been using it and its been working great.
did you sign up for the beta test update???? if so, i suggest you should try the update, if don't like it, you can flash back to 1.2.6 SBF. im not sure how to cancel the update.
I keep seeing that, but I didn't do a backup before I rooted and I don't know how to get a stock SBF
I'll try that battery app out, thanks. (Also, this whole 5 minute rule before editing is kinda dumb, I can see that if it were a different post, but why restrict edits? I don't get that)
Hi,
I'm using Sygic as GPS software but I'm having a small issue with it.
Every time I quit it, it always stays as a background process and I can't get rid of that even doing a force close.
When I say that it stays as a background process I mean that when I go to setting=>battery, it's always in the list of app that consume battery but it doesn't appear in setting=>app=>running app.
In setting=>battery, the pourcentage of Sygic is always quite high. Around 30-40% at the end of the day.
Can anyone help me ?
thanks !
the list in settings -> battery shows apps and their % battery usage of total battery usage.
it's not a real time list, the apps displayed don't have to be currently running in order to be on the list.
if an app used the battery since the measure started - it will be displayed.

How do you know it stays as background process? If you are talking about the the Sygic icon in the status bar then tray hitting the Clear button - does the icon disappear?

This list shows all apps that consumed an amount of battery above a certain level, no matter if they are still running or not. If you use Sygic for two hours then it might remain in the list for a very long time, even until you reboot the phone.

There is nothing wrong with this. As I said, it depends on how long you were using Sygic compared to other apps. When I check battery usage after a 5 hour trip with Sygic, it is quite high.
If you feel that Sygic is running in the background, just start it and then immediately terminate it again. Now use your phone for 2 to 4 hours (not using Sygic of course) and then again check if Sygic still consumed 30 to 40%. I bet it didn't .
Oups (!!!), I forgot to mention that Sygic remains in the list even after I've charged the phone and unplugged it.
The list is supposed to be cleared after I unplug the phone after fully charged.
I have to reboot the phone to get the list totally cleared.
Sorry for the omission

What you experience is the normal behavior of this list: it only clears when the phone gets rebooted.
When i fall asleep i just place my phone nearby the bed and its on airplane mode, wifi closed, data closed and generally no apps running(i think so).The battery is level (ex)50% and when i wake up,about 7 hours later its always about 15-20%.why this happen?
I checked the battery manager just after i waked up and the first was screen(56%) and after that adobe reader(10%)
Start with Better Battery Stats and read the ten million battery posts on XDA .

Better battery stats does not work.dont know why.and i made my own post cause i cannot find the solution of the problem on other posts.try to be more polite to your answers
have you tried downloading the xda version of the better battery stats? if not here it is

Is your phone rooted? Like others said, try to install the xda-forum version of BBS but it's weird because I did install the one from GPlay.
One of the first lead is the WiFi? Is it always turned on? There's a bug with it. Go into the advanced WiFi settings and set it to 'only if activated' (I don't know the exact spell in English but it's something like that).
But you better have to dl BBS & check the wakelocks.

what?
Underclock when you're not using your phone.
That will save battery.
If ur using stock TW. Put on power saving mode
PM Me if u want to know more.
Try using an app called easy battery saver and only use the cable and plug that came with your galaxy s3 it works for me, today I had eight hours after charge and using internet with 3g nearly continuously.
You would get much more by leaving it on standby.
Also restrict your background data, turn off your automatic updates at play store andturn off WiFi while screen is asleep.
Follow all these for better battery.
Use any battery investigation apk/widget (I'd recommend battery monitor widget) and look what is causing the drain...
may I guess: cell standby or gpsd?
guys i remember you that the cell phone is on flight mode with wifi, gps and data turned off
and, if you have a soft which contains a bug - you'll have such processes running.
It is up to you to install any apk which will contain more detailed statistics what actually is consuming so much juice.
If you do not want - no one would force you.

I have the exactly same problem,30% drain overnight. That happens after updating to 4.1.1 JellyBean. With ICS never happened.
Go into the battery page, click on the graph and then post a screenshot of the detailed graph here. It is usually an app or process not letting the phone go into standby. Happened to me when I had my phone on ICS out of the box. I fixed that all up through the individual app settings and all was sweet. Then when I went from ICS to JB, the issue came up again and I had to go through the apps again to change the settings back. It seems that by updating from ICS to JB, certain settings get set back to default, which then does not allow the phone to go into standby.
Culprits that I have found are:
Facebook - set to manual refresh interval
Weather (or any weather widget) - manual refresh interval
Google play store - Turn off Google AdMob Ads
Any form of newsreader (I was using Pulse) - Turn off notification when there are new stories
Wifi advanced settings - Set Keep Wifi on during sleep to "Always"
Samsung account - Turn off sync
Samsung app store - Turn off Update Notification, turn off push notification, turn off ad preferences.

Try delete apps like that

Guys please keep in mind that keeping the stock os without any custom kernel might be not as effective than using an adequate custom rom...
In addition remember, cooler temperatures cause ur battery to lose its charge faster...
So if ur phone is placed on the window shelf and its getting cold during the night it might cause ur battery to drop fast..
I made this observation with my sgs plus....
Hope i helped.
Good evening all!
Am I the only one that received a Gear Manager Update today?
I received something earlier today but I can't see any change in the software version number.
Alex
All you buddayyyy
Yes, it is updated for me.
I got the update too but have not noticed any differences.
According to change log, it is updated to support Gear Circle.

where you downloaded the app.
I also got today. Noticed some changes:
1. While calling, Mute button is added to the main screen and volume slider as well
2. In drop down menu, a different icon is shown when connected to Bluetooth or remote connection via phone
3. Battery life improved, me thinks.
4. Auto Call forwarding added to Call Menu
5. Smoother Interface
Adding tasks is still not supported.

Yup, but i have noticed when I owned the Galaxy Gear and the gear 2 that some Gear manager updates would change things like this and even Svoice! Sometimes even the vibration would change on the gear 2.... Remember this watch is also an extension of your phone. Most of the watches services and apps are running on your phone first.
But none of what Akram posted occurred without a firmware updated. I noticed zero changes on my watch. So, I think he is just confused this thread as talking of Gear firmware update which is not even new for most of us (there is a day-one update and that's about it).

i do, also the battery usage is a littel better. I'm normally down to 81% by now and its sitting at 93 with heavy usage.
I have seen good days and bad days on battery life. So, today it appears to be the bad day for me. Already at 81% 1 hour after took off the charger with BT connection. So, no, the update to Gear Manager doesn't change anything for me for battery life.
If the app update causes the phone connection to the device to draw less power from the device (less poling for notifications, updating time and better location management) I could see how it could have an affect on the Gear S battery life ... I haven't noticed any differences though.
Don't know if it happenedwith this update, but I see a watch face that is very cool and more features on it, #of steps, readable date, weather, etc.
Keep it coming samsung!
The update appears to have broken having apps open automatically (or by touching Open app on device) when a notification pops up on your watch. This has happened with previous updates then the next update fixes that issue and now this one broke it again. To use this function, you need to have Smart relay checked in Notifications in the Gear Manager.
On the 25th of May, the new Android Wear started to get installed to Moto 360 2nd Gen devices.
Did you get it yet?

Put your Watch in charge, and connect It in wifi (disable the bluetooth from your phone)
Go in setting ---information--update
You can force the update, just repeatedly tap on the green "system is up to date" screen.
When the download of the update begins, you need to keep your finger on the screen so that the smartwatch does not return to the charging screen.
Good luck
I received the update. The watch stuck on finishing update. Any one have same problem?

It really worked!! Thank you
Since 2.0, my watch isn't showing the Hour when i put it in recharge mode at night. It goes in recharge mode for 5 secondes, showing the hour, and then it goes to a grey screen for all the night. Its annoying to sleep, and useless cause i cant see the hour.
Anyone with the same issue or have an idea?
I found a solution, but i dont know if it's not a bad solution for the battery life of the watch: putting "ALWAYS ON DURING CHARGE" mode in the developper's options. I'am scared to damage the watch and the battery, forcing it to be ON all the night and charging.

Click on the side button of the watch for 2 seconds when it charges, this will open the options of the watch.
Forced update?
Couldn't get this to work for me.
I'm curious though, just how Moto (or Google as the case may be) implements a "gradual" update (that is, some users get it before others).

This is the same as it happens for mobiles.
During big updates you can find devices getting the update with many days difference.

this wil fix it: When turning on in settings 'always on display' it works like before. no need to enable stay awake while charging in developers settings.
Although this fixes the issue, I am somewhat disappointed because this option reduces battery life.

Yeah, and with my watchface, "Always on" display option is unsupported, this looks very ugly because the watch never sleep off, it stays turned on all the time with the brightness at minimum, even if i cover the watch.

Keep tapping until it happens. Might take a while, but it will happen. I tapped mine for over a minute straight multiple times before it showed up.
Now if it would stop constantly running into a problem while installing...
I had to turn off my wifi manually as after downloading, while countdown to restart, it always stopped in between with the same green screen and message that system is up to date. So after downloading is complete, just turn off the wifi. And also make sure to disconnect bluetooth before you try force updating, just connect with wifi on watch, it'll work for sure.
