I rooted and installed cm10.1 for my brother on his fascinate but im not used to Samsung devices because mine is sony. Now he wants me to switch it because of game lags but when I tty to flash him another ROM it says can't mount system can't mount data can't mount cache etc. Can somebody help And tell me what's wrong. It says the same error can't mount even when trying to make a backup. So if anyone knows how to fix this please help.

Will less start with some specs...
What is the exact version of recovery.
What is the exact build date and version of ROM you have and ROM you want to run.
And the exact phone model you have.
Feel free to include a:: settings, about phone, screenshot with that info as well as include what is written under the battery of:: model and:: sku
Then what is type and class speed of the micro sd card.
.

OK the model is sch i500. I'll have to get my Bros phone and check the other stuff as I'm not sure. The SD card is class 4 sandisk 8 GB. The ROM was cm10.1 (I'll check the build datelater and post don't know at the moment but I think it was stable) and I was going to flash him slim bean. I need to check cwm version and then I'll post back. Thanks for responding. Anyways I'm pretty sure its a cwm problem because the cwm I had installed first worked fine but when I updated it it stopped workimg. The problem is when I try to flash a different recovery it gives same can't mount anything issue. So can i just flash it with Odin or something? I'm not too familiar with that as I'm used to flaahtool. Anyways I'll provide the rest of the info later when I can get w screenshot of his phone

Hi, it might be easier using twrp recovery, to flash that you can go to twrp website, download the recovery image for your phone then download flashify from the play store, and use that to flash the recovery image( you should have a file explorer or root browser lite)
Once you flash that and are in recovery wipe cache, davlik, data and system then flash the rom and gapps............make a backup before wiping and flashing a new rom!

CWM Can't Mount Data / SD Card (internal and external)
I am experiencing a similar issue and looking for answers. I have T-mobile galaxy s4. I have cwm 6.0.3.8 installed and on Packman 4.3 build -1. Whenever I try to do a back up or install a backup, it goes into the trying to mount SD card loops (20s). When I try and backup from recovery mode, it says can't mount sd card. When trying to recover from storage/sd, it starts backing up then at the end it says can't mount.
Help, anyone? Please.

Flashed rom, phone broke

I tried to install this ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033653) on my friends Optimus T and something went wrong. I followed the instructions to the letter and after the format of the /system i couldn't actually flash the ROM because everything got deleted so i tried to restore the NANDROID that i had made and i couldn't because there was nothing there and now it just hangs at the boot up screen! PLEASE help me get this fixed
Well... may seem a bit obvious have you tried flashing a different rom from recovery yet? If you get really desperate I can supply you with the kdz file for titanium optimus 509.
Or u cud start a fresh wipe your sd card and store on of your fav roms on it and then flash it with recovery..Start afresh..If u can boot into recovery then no worries

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354 Try this rom. it installed just fine on my Optimus T titanium. I used clockwork recovery to do so. assuming you can get to recovery which from turned off hold volume down+home then power. If you can;t get to recovery you will probably have to use this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865479 however you would have to do it from emergency mode instead
Only two options:
1. If you can access the Recovery menu, then clear everything and flash a ROM again.
2. If you cannot, just flashed an official fimware back with kdz (use the links provided in the posts above). Then start all over again.
Simple

I think the issue your having is that adding the ext partion formats the sd card. Thus, the zip you are trying to flash is no longer there and you nandroid was deleted also. Boot back into recovery and select the usb mount option, transfer the zip you want to flash and then flash it. Simples
Ciaox simply missed the line out where is should say copy *************.zip to sd card before the bit about flashing it. I think this time following the instructions to closely caused this lol Man up
thanks mates, got it working with a a CM7 port (actually I had to go through 3 because two didn't have the Market for some reason

Glad you got this resolved. But for future ease of flashing download a flashable zip containing the market. such as the one listed in the instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1072252

> When i hold vol- and power buttons and try to go to recovery, the phone hangs at the Revolutionary logo !
THE MIUI is slow and can't withstand stress as every time i try to do something fast it displays error messages. Pleasse help !!!

ODIN is for Samsung phones. You need to run an official HTC RUU (ROM Update Utility) to restore HTC phones to stock.
@OP -
Download the RUU exe from the link below, connect your phone to computer via USB and run it as administrator. Your phone will be completely erased and restored to stock. I;m not sure if SD card will erased too, so make a backup of all its contents to be safe.
http://htcruu.com/securekey.php?fil...3.55.24H_3.35.19.25_release_151892_signed.exe
If you're from India, then run this instead -
http://htcruu.com/securekey.php?fil...45.55.24_3.35.15.31_release_142213_signed.exe
You can find a list of more RUUs for your phone, for other regions and carriers at http://htcruu.com/?dir=Buzz
You've certainly messed something up, and your SD card might be corrupted too, so if you're not very knowledgeable about what you're doing, you're better off restoring to stock and starting over rather than trying a bunch of different fixes and messing up your phone more.

You have stock recovery, you need to Flash a custom one like clockworkmod to be able to take nandroid backups and flash roms.
If you are on cwm, then just choose the install zip from sd card option and browse for your zip..

if you boot your device into recovery mode (power + volume up), does it say CWM recovery 5.x.x.x?
if it does, then you have a custom kernel.
if not, flash a custom kernel. use rj's kernel if you have a physical home button or entropy's kernel if you have a capacitative home button.
If you really want to see a drastic difference difference, try cm 10 or ParanoidAndroid.

To flash any of these roms, just copy the appropriate zip to your internal storage and reboot into recovery.
Then:
1. Wipe Data/Factory reset
2. Wipe Cache
3. Advanced > Wipe Dalvik Cache
4. Install zip > from internal sd card
5. wait and enjoy.
Also, i would highly recommend you check out http://xda-university.com

[Q] Galaxy tab 10.1 complete restore after custom roms

Hi
I have a galaxy tab 10.1 GT-P7500. I have been messing around a lot with custom ROMs. Now I want to do a proper restore to official ICS. I have the Odin flashable package. When I restore it just using this, my tablet does not want to root again on this stock firmware. I looses root as soon as I flash the root package.
What I want to do is do a complete restore of the tablet. I don't really know much about the bootloaders and so on.
Should I get a PIT file and tick re-partition as well as update phone bootloader?
I have restored an old Nandroid backup and did a factory restore on the tablet but there is something wrong with it. Every now and then the tablet just do a random reboot, but not a complete reboot. The screen goes blank and then back on again. Signal gets lost and everything that I was busy with are gone. I use the Wi-Fi hotspot all the time and every time that this happens I have to turn it back on again.
Anyone who can tell me how to do a proper restore of everything on the tablet?
Boot into cwm or twrp recovery, do a full wipe, not including internal storage, then flash stock ICS again.

Because your important files are there. Unless you don't care about those files or you've backed up in your computer, then you can wipe it. I can't remeber the error that superuser give out.
I have flashed stock ICS now, but when I try to load the update file which I always used to root it, the stock recovery give an error saying unknown path for sdcard(photo included).

First, check to see if the su binary is in /system/xbin or not. Download terminal emulator, then type su and see if it works. If it says su not found, it means the su binary is not installed. If so, try flashing the SuperSU zip (https://db.tt/18JKy062) and see if it works.

S3 reboots to a blank screen. Erm... whoops.

Hi.
I just like, rooted and flashed my S3 with an Archdroid rom 2 days ago. didnt really like it so thought of trying
★[ROM][26. Jan] GlamourS4/N3 for S3 ♦Touch Of Note 3♦ [4.3] version 5.0 [MK6] [FAST]★
so i go into recovery and wiped the data and cache, and cleared the Dalvik cache too and installed the rom. All was smooth till the installation completed and rebooted. I see the Samsung Galaxy S3 screen for awhile, then blank. Phone's running warm.
What should i do? I tried repeating the whole installation process again.... no help. And oh, i am using the Philz Touch recovery. Does it make a difference what recovery i use anyway?
EDIT: ok its running really really warm now. screen still is blank, yet menu and return buttons do light up when i touch them. what gives?
Hope someone can help out a noob there. Thanks very much

If you are using PhilZ recovery go to wipe data/factory reset option 2 clean to install a new rom this is the best way to install ..Make sure your rom is on the external SD card see if that works and report back.

Then you need to return to stock with Odin and see if you still have problems...After flashing back to stock with odin if you get a bootloop boot into recovery and factory reset..
Update. it occurred to me that the version of the GlamourS4N3 rom i downloaded is the V4, not the V5. So it hangs up my phone upon installation and reboot. its definitely on. Just that the screen is blank and the menu and return buttons do light up when i touch then. Phone gets really really warm. I thought the first boot would take a bit of time, as did the ArchDroid rom but..... didn't happen...
So i downloaded the S4 Revolution V12 and it installed and booted up perfectly. Thank goodness.
But thanks guys for taking time to try to help me out. Cheers. I have downloaded the V5 and prolly try that out in afew days.

I flashed the v4 ytd too and resulted in the same. I had to buy a sd card to unbrick my phone. Tried v5 and no notification bar and they said I selected too much things in aroma installer. And when v4 bricked my phone, the developer said he dun know anything to fix it. It was another user who helped me.

The MEGA download link was fast which is why i downloaded it and i realised its the V4. I verify that both the direct download link and bittorrent link for the V5 works but very very slow.
Yes its always good to have an ext SD card and put the rom in there, becoz when u clear the user data and stuff, and if u have no SD card and yr new rom is inside it will just be deleted altogether and WHAM! u r stuck.I know, becoz it happened to me on my first rom reflash. I was lucky to have an old 2gb mini sd card lying around. I remember 1 came with my P1000.
+, u can set your pictures to be saved in ext sd so when u wipe yr phone to put a new rom in, yr pics and whatsapp msgs r backed up in the ext sd so yea....

Fyi, custom recoveries do not delete the root directory of the internal sd card. So ur whatsapp, pictures, music, rom zips will not be erased when u factory reset it.

confirmed. coz i tried to flash wif the Philz recovery and what i didnt realise was, the stock recovery overwrote the Philz when i rebooted. And then i wiped everything lol. I didnt know i had to select the "option 2" to prevent the stock recovery from erm, recovering?

Tats weird. Try using cwm. Cwm does tell me tat the stock recovery might auto reflash when I wanted to reboot system. I just didn't care abt it and reboot but nth happens.
